This is going to sound stupid--but for the life of me I can't figure out why you can't download the game client from NCSoft's site. And if you can I sure as hell can't find it.
The FAQ's list a fileplanet path that doesn't work (it recycles you to pay for a fileplanet account over and over).
The thing is, I have a new computer AND MY OLD COMPUTER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. I have all the account information for PlayNC account and game account written down. My account is paid and active (as it has been continuously for more than 3 years).
NCSoft support keeps sending me ******ed replies that ask questions that are pointless .
I have a simple question. At least I think it's a simple question.
WHERE IS THE ******M client download for existing account owners?
I couldn't copy the files--my computer was screwed. I have a new computer. I just want to download the client. I can't find any path or answers from this ridiculous group of support idiots.
WHERE IS THE CLIENT so I can download it? I don't know how to write it more simply than that.
I don't care if it will take 10 hours to download it. I have no option anyway. I couldn't retrieve my former files because my old computer died and wouldn't run long enough to allow me to copy them.
I must be the stupidest person on the planet. I've spent more than 3 hours trying to find the original client. The one thing that seems clear is that it is not on NCSoft's site...which I'm still trying to understand, but anyway.
Can someone dumb this answer down enough for the mentally impaired (me)?
A 1-2-3 format would help since evidently no one at NCSoft support can actually answer a question....
http://www.fileplanet.com/lineage2 (fileplanet requires you to register a free account to download ... but includes a download manager that helps with the huge file incase you disconnect)
On fileplanet there are 2 lists of downloads. One is titled "Public Server" and one for "Subscribers"......in my mind, 'public server' was a PTS version. In fact, it simply means the free download with a significant delay.
Still, this is a LOT of steps to get to the client. Amazing to me that NCSoft doesn't sell its own game on its site.....I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at this point.
you can download it from ncsoft, get pts-to-live converter and let it download, it just takes a looooong time
(yeah you don't actually need the pts client to run pts-to-live, just download it extract the lineage2.exe init in a directory and it will download everything)
If you log in to your master plaync account, it will give you the option to download the client - but it just directs you to Fileplanet. If you already have the plaync launcher installed (I know you don't since its a new computer), you can download it directly from us but it is much faster to download from Fileplanet (which is why we recommend it!)
yeah, that nc launcher came with Xsteel or me.
although i have since stopped playing as you can't have lineage 2 up and run xsteel at the same time... darned game guard...
To be fair, I was pretty steamed and sent 3-4 really over-the-top support notes to those folks.
And the path for getting it from the site WAS eventually emailed back to me--just as I requested (in a not-so-nice manner on my part). It was in a 1-2-3-4, etc. format.
Two observations.
That 1-2-3, etc. path is in no way obvious on the site.
Secondly, I'm not sure (even with my rather nasty notes) that it should take 4-5 exchanges of emails to GET that reply to a subscriber.
It is simply ridiculous that the process to download the game (not the download--the PROCESS to find the download) takes that much effort, that many steps, that many parties, and that much time.
I can buy a CAR on line with less effort!
It would seem obvious to me (admittedly computer challenged) that there would be a freakin' BUTTON on NCSoft's site that says "CLICK HERE FOR GAME X" and presto--the **** thing would download once payment was assured.
Open heart surgery doesn't take as long as it takes to get Lineage II on your computer.
heheehehehe *passes BEER That I can do. lolz
I tell people alway if you have issues getting the game to run. Contact the Support team they will get you up and going lickity split! :D

I believe the download method is somewhat preventing new user to come to the game if they don't have access to buy the box from retailer and need to downloading it online.

the NC Launcher blows... the **** thing says its gonna take like 499 hours to download L2 lol... I can download from the Max bandwidth servers on fileplanet and its not taking nearly that long. Granted, the transfer rate sucks cuz im on crappy internet here in the middle of nowhere, its still going faster than the NC launcher...
another hour or so and NCLauncher will have the game downloaded for me. It's taken about 3 hours and it's 3/4 complete. If it finishes in 4 hours do I have the record???
Lol!
I think the very first time I downloaded the game it took something like 7-8 hours (if I'm remembering correctly).
This actually seems pretty quick tonight.
When it's set and 'check files' is complete, I hope to log in for the first time in a few weeks (my old computer was too glitchy to run the game--it kept shutting down every 5-20 minutes!). Turns out I miss being able to log into L2!!!
