Everyone who can be ingame is probably ingame, and I had a chance to raise a rudolf and so I'm posting this to report to those who are not ingame yet and want to know how it's going and hopefully others can post thier experiences.
Lets try to keep this discussion on topic and not devolve into another summoner whine thread.
So it's pretty simple so far, You buy the rudolf package from the event NPC and you recieve 3 rudolf summons and 3 rudolf food. Once you summon one, you are supposed to feed it 1 food and he will grow to a medium reindeer immediately.
There if you double click on rudolf his status window comes up, there are 3 progress bars you must fill to recieve the 1 hour buff. The first is a timer that progressively increases over time, it will reach 100% in 1 hour, you dont have to do anything for this to happen.
The second bar is the attention. This goes up when you click on the scratch skill when his nose is glowing. His nose will glow at random times and you are only given about 10 seconds to scratch him until the opportunity passes. If you miss it, dont worry it will happen again, just be patient. Each time you successfully scratch when he wants it, the bar will go up 25%. 4 scratches and that part is done.
The third bar is his hunger, it goes up when he eats fruit basket herbs which drop from mobs. The baskets drop pretty much 100% so you shouldnt have trouble with this bar. Each basket increases his fullness by 10% until you reach 99%. Rudolf eats them automatically when he's in range of a basket. This bar doesnt deplete so no hurry.
So in closing, he becomes full once he eats 10 baskets. Once he's full all you gotta do is wait for his nose to glow and scratch him. Then just wait until the last bar is full, and presto, he evolves into his final state and buffs you with a special buff. He will automatically disappear 10 minutes after he transforms the last time.
My question is about Santa. Havent seen him yet even though I was hunting when he was "supposedly" handing out gifts. Has anyone gotten anything from him? If so, does he just spawn and put it in your inventory? or do you have to spot him and click on him?
I had a visit from Santa today,he appears, says a thing, then the gifts appear in your
inventory.I xp with cov and wolf,so no real need for the other part of this event, however
happy others get a chance to get these cool buffs.

For each scratch he'll give you a 10min buff (increase crit rate and magic crit rate). For ignoring him he'll debuff you with a 5sec debuff (decrease speed)

Each time he eats one of those baskets he'll give you the 5min buff 'Rudolph's Joy' (increase attack and casting speed); lvl of it depends on the basket he has eaten; apple basket = lvl1 (+10%), orange basket = lvl2 (+15%)
So in closing, he becomes full once he eats 10 baskets. Once he's full all you gotta do is wait for his nose to glow and scratch him. just some little additions ;)
This year's santa presents aren't tradable .... :(
Not really interested in the reindeer but the baskets keep dropping and getting in my way. The game is frustrating enough without these baskets.
There should be a way to prevent a customer from partaking in the reindeer part... like if you don't have the reindeer out no basket drops.
yeap those baskets are highly annoying even with the reindeer
my solution for now: i have 'incompleted' rudolph with me for the 'basket herbs pick up'-job ....
On my account 1, the reindeer worked fine, grew to adult and buffed me but on account 2, the scratch button in the pet window disappeared so I can't scratch him and his attention bar stays empty so I don't think he will ever grow to adult and give buff
Both accounts on one computer.
Tried resummon, same problem.
Tried relogging, same problem.
Tried rebooting and full file check, same problem.
I love this event :)
The buffs are great even if you are just killing mobs and Santa pop-ing out of nowhere to give you presents is really cute ^_^ especially when you are in full party.. everyone wonders: will it be me? :p
And even if it isn't about some super gifts it does bring joy.
I didn't get anything until now, but the people I was in party with did, several times. So i guess he comes pretty often.
I'm not happy I have my reindeer fully at 99 appetitite and 99 growth and he won't let me scratch him to get his affection to 99.
Ok instead of the hour it said it took my reindeer like 1 1/2 hours for his nose to turn blue and me to get the chance to finally scratch him and go through his last evolution.

I was grinding away with my buff slave tucked away safely in the corner.
Within a span of 10 minutes, Santa visited my Warcryer three times, but didn't visit me a single time. I thought Santa was only supposed to give gifts to players in combat...
So far i got Donatello and Rapheal, love the buffs.
I smacked a few santa clones in town because he didn't visit me.., btw saw the stats on that santa shirt its pretty sick <3
The event/shadow weapons of the previous Santa event gave a passive skill, do they now?
This is probably the most annoying event ive ever participated in. As a summoner i play solo for best exp, so i cant use the reindeer to pick up the baskets which means when im trying to exp and need to pick up herbs in a speedily fashion i cant because some stupid baskets are blocking my ability without clicking around them.
Rating on Reindeer: F
The santa part is still very fun and enjoyable, so far one day ive gotten 10 gifts.
Rating on Santa: A
So I positioned myself outside of town smacking on a NPC all night and no Santa gifts, so not sure how that is supposed to work. It's luck/chance. After all day grinding, my Warcryer (who was sitting in a corner not in combat) got 6 gifts while I got 1 total. Then a clannie logged in next to me and got a gift after only hitting an NPC once.
Rudolph is fun and the buffs are nice. I can't use my fenrir though.
Santa is pure evil! 8 hours playing and nothing. A friend got 10 gifts during the same time.
the regualr weapons last for 4 hours, so not worth much at all
buffs are useless
shirts are useless
yes, my main is a summoner..
event fails
luck is not a event, its pure fail
apparently there is more kids in L2 than WoW, seeing how many here likes this event..

I'm quite enjoying the buffs but I want a money making event again. I want money! But other than that, and the fruit baskets getting in the way, I am having fun.
EDIT: My Christmas shirt rocks, and when stacked with the 1 hour Rudolph buff I'm tearing stuff up! :D
Last night I found myself an unsuspecting NPC outside town and wacked all night long :P Got 7 santa gifts, and got a +16 shirt that gives +5 to stats. And some weapon exchange coupons. Got a +16 Top B blunt for my sub and +15 AM for my main to try.
Like the previous poster said, the bonus is huge if for nothing but 24 hours for the shirt and 4 hours for the weapon. The only downside I see is when this event is over and I'm left with no **** shirt, no **** weapon, and no **** buffs. Maybe I take for granted my uberness and get myself into some trouble thinking I can actually tank several mobs and survive like I can now.
Overall this is a great time to Plvl a sub or start a new toon.
The Santa part of the event works fine. I haven't got the jackpot, but technically it works fine.
The Rudolph part of the event has some problems. The idea is good and the graphics is nice.
1. My main character can't participate because the main has to have a fenrir as a pet. That leaves raising of Rudolph to the support buffer.
2. But! The radius for Rudolf's picking up of the baskets is too small. So, instead of picking up the baskets automatically, it has to be guided to each of them. Otherwise the main is prevented from picking up the normal drops! Annoying!
3. The scratching time is not saved at log off as the other status values. Each time the buffer enters the game, the scratching time is reset to zero. It took me some time to realize that. Therefore it didnt work on my higher lvl characters where I switch buffers in order to get two different types of buffs for the main and fenrir. The character has to stay online for 15 minutes in order to use the scratch. (Our automated friends don't have this problem, they have all their buffers online all the time)
So raising of Rudolph would be left to some lower lvl, where one buffer is enough.
4. The award buff for raising the Rudolph goes to the support character who doesn't really have any use for it.
5. I raised 3 Rudolphs and thats it. Sorry Santa, you don't get more Rudolphs from me at these conditions.
6. By the way, have you noticed that all pets get re-summoned automatically on re-login?
It's luck/chance. After all day grinding, my Warcryer (who was sitting in a corner not in combat) got 6 gifts while I got 1 total. Then a clannie logged in next to me and got a gift after only hitting an NPC once.
Some people just have bad luck :|
If a toon is in a party with someone else that IS in combat, that toon is also able to get santa. This makes it so that support classes that dont hit were included. They still forgot about summoners though :P
6. By the way, have you noticed that all pets get re-summoned automatically on re-login?
This was implemented with the big update we had this week and Lyzira wrote it on the forum for us. From now on this is what will happen if you log of or you are disconnected while you have a pet summoned.
