We are happy to introduce a new member of our team today, Sace! Sace may be the newest member of the Lineage II team but she has been with NCsoft for awhile already and we are excited to have her on board. Please give her a very warm welcome as a new addition to our Community Team!
Hi everybody! My name is Sace and I'm going to be picking up where Lyzira left off, as Community Manager. While I'm new to the Lineage II forums, and rather new to Lineage II itself, I have experience with NCsoft message boards and am learning from Lyzira's legacy and Nyx's training.
My gaming background includes FFXI, EQ2, WoW and Aion for online games, and offline-game-wise I have played every single Sims, Sierra * Quests, and some Age of Empires, Halo, Team Fortress 2, and many others.
I've been reading the forums silently until now, and I'm ready to join the community. I'm really excited to be here, and happy to meet you all! :)

Welcome and good to have you Sace. First things first...forget the forums and study and learn the L2 website, it needs a massive update.

GL
Hope you can pass the Forums angry to the propper teams, anyway i stopped care about this forum a while ago.
The page, yeah like Ashley said is getting worst day after day, really get the good sence and take out the "Top Fantasy MMORPG by NCsoft" cause right now is more like Top Automated and Forgotten Fantasy MMORPG by NCsoft.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope to find you an active and vocal community manager.
I do hope to see some improvements to the website, though I know this falls under a different team. I hope that you can work with them to address the community's needs.
I also hope to see more opportunity for fansites to interact with you and the community team. If you're willing, I would love to sit down with you and throw some questions at you.
Once more, welcome. I hope you brought your flame-resistant underwear... it can get pretty hot in here.
Welcome and like said before; yes, in regards to importance, the forums are of the least importance. It would be better to impose some upgrades on the site and the game than to hand out pacifiers everyday to whiny players.
Is it just me or is NC biased towards female CM's? You're being exploited~!
Yes and no, it's more of a "Service Industry" bias. CM's are overworked, high-stress positions with low pay -- considering what they put up with. When I was working for the other game, there were 13 people in our community department and I was the only male.
And as for Sace, I'm glad they brought in someone with experience. This game is still in desperate need of attention from the staff so I hope you are ready to take on such a big job. Lyzira was doing a good job at it, lets hope you can meet or exceed that bar she set. Welcome to Lineage II. :)
Do you generally show an interest in the end game content of games and do you generally consider your self more of a hardcore gamer? The last few CMs, like all of them since Ash, have tended to be more towards the cutie little roleplay kinda people and this was reflected in the tendency that no discussions about the new developing high level content of the game could even be discussed here because people on this forum always start shouting bot and ebayer before the more obvious congratulations. Lyzira even told me in pms that they were excited by but were gonna refrain from publicly congratulating or discussing the killing of what is considered the most difficult raid boss in the game because it was "too controversial" due to the low level unachieving people on this forum who will ever even see the boss decided that it was impossible to do without cheating. This boss is very much killable but we have yet to see any of the intended rewards from it because of constantly being either bugged or just slow at getting fixed.
I guess what this game really needs from a community manager is someone who takes an active interest in what is actually going on with the game and participates in discussions with the players about the actual game. Players are often far ahead in discussing updates and patches to l2 long before they reach NA and only lately have these minor patches even been announced. A very recent patch we got was supposed to fix beleth so that we can finally get a ring (which the nc staff have refused to hand out even though several clans have already killed the boss) but just like happened in korea after the same patch the teleportation cubic to beleth broke. Seeing how the exact same thing happened in korea I don't see why precautionary measures weren't taken when bringing it here. Now we are probably gonna be stuck over the whole holidays not even being able to raid beleth at all which is even worse than before the patch that was supposed to fix him. Now I know the GM stuff suck for not helping anyone with it but the issue became known and was reported within 2-3 days of the patch but no public announcement was made about it being even more broken than before. This led to multiple clans on multiple servers wasting hours of their time just to realize that they weren't even able to port in. Something a community manager could have prevented just by taking an interest and following development of the game while keeping an open dialogue with the customers.

Ok i already love you a lot Sace !!!!
As Fan Site admin, let us know (all fan admin) what we can do for you ....
Welcome in the gladiator arena, overthere you will find more forum warriors in argue than clever mind pple ...
First, last and most of all important question : what about ROLE PAY ?!
Welcome, Sace. It won't be an easy job, I'm afraid.
If I had one wish, you could run over to your CSU team and beg, plead and demand that they allow Lum the Mad to work on anti-botting tools for Lineage II as well, not just Aion. Pretty please. :)
Welcome Sace.
I wish the best to you at your work!
Now, if you dont mind some questions:
- When is the site updated?
- Why is NCSoft America clients don`t deserve the same level of attention of the NCSoft Korea clients?
- Why NCSoft despises a potential market of more hundreds of thousands of players-clients in europe and North-America, and don`t do any visible merchandising of the game?
Sorry by the off-topic questions, but i find the client suport and interest of spread the player-base of NCsoft laughable, and almost seems they want to push us out of this game...
With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all--That is your fate!

ROFL
imo someone should forward this post to HGM_Spam over at Aion; he'll surely get a good chuckle from it
now botters QQing on official, not just Blah ;)
come on man, are you clueless/in denial or something?
those clans in NCNA who did Beleth so far ALL exist primarily to make IRL cash from farming the game
NCWest knows it (and banned your clan leader for it, gf), and doesn't care if you waste your time or not
grow some (male genitalia) and live with it
I'm probably going to regret this but... What did he say???
Oh, Hi Sace.
The ppl that wont ever achieve much in this game is in control of the boards, and the ones that can actually do real endgame stuff (Like raiding Beleth) doesn't get a chance to discuss problems with endgame content (bugs etc).
He is hoping the new CM is more interested in end-game content than the previous ones where.
i may say i'm the king, but no one poster can have greater say/influence over another on the boards. the boards make all voices equal. low and high alike. both allowed to talk as equals.
but you snub nosed high levels dont want to talk about high level content for fear; fear that low levels will not understand and twist the conversation, and fear that those same low levels will get to the high levels and never see the bugs or things that are commonly known "features".
then, to top it all off, for some unknown reason you also dont talk about high level stuff because of some hidden secret, like the mechanics of high level skills or party composition for high level zones. the game mechanics that arent written anywhere not even on blah, all kept to word of mouth out of some sense that nobody should know.
hypocrisy if i ever heard it.
DininX better be the first to post a complete Beleth guide if they ever get the raid working. and i'd wager several billion adena (but i dont have it) that says he wont.
out of that same sense that this info should be kept secret.
Whether or not people cheat/ed is irrelevant, the bugs need to be fixed, and NC needs to take a far more active role in its community.
And stop throwing accusations around like confetti, if you people didn't suck so much you could own your respective server instead of "all the botters everywhere". You guys openly admit that you lose to automatons, and then pathetically cry about it.
More importantly, no one owes the low end clans anything. Nothing. If you want it then get it, or die trying.

If you read the posts I've made about beleth in the past you will see that I very much talk about tactics and ways to go about killing him. I even posted a replay showing our whole first raid, you can zoom around as much as you want and see exactly what kind of parties and classes we brought. But the thread was moved to the bartz section because lyzira didn't want to deal with all the trash talk and bot/ebaying accusations that come with any of those threads. I do actively contribute with information over at elliebelly about raidbosses. You won't see me writing any guides because frankly I don't believe in them and that is something I have stressed in posts I have written before. Every alliance has its strengths and weaknesses and will have different ways of approaching challenges effectivley. I will gladly share facts and information about content so that others can approach the problem from their own angle and that is what I do. But unlike the koreans I won't make a guide saying that you need 5 nuker parties only because that is how they did it, I'll discuss issues such as the amount of damage you need to resist and how to split your forces and various methods you can use to discover the real beleth and speculation about how the real beleth moves around.
Neither have we ever hidden any party composition or made secrets about how we level so quickly. Plenty of times people have accused my clan of botting and sometimes I will actually attempt to seriously explain how we do it, I'll tell them exactly how we aoe 4 rooms in tullies. Do you think anyone listens? Nope, alot of them have probably never been inside tullies and don't care. They'll just keep calling anyone over level 80 botters and refuse to listen to anything you have to say. It's is that kind of ignorance that make posting on these forums lame. 90% of all threads started about content for 83+ characters are derailed into legitimacy discussions(hardly discussions) before they can even turn into fact sharing threads.
All I really wish for is that these forums will hold some resemblance to the korean official forums, although I do realize we will never have the same influence over the developers, atleast maybe the staff could on some level discuss the ongoings of l2 as we see it. Keep us updated on current issues and how they are attempting to solve it. Create some kind of bridge between the community and the workings of l2. Rather than having them as three separate things. The nc staff doing their own thing, these forums as some kind of chat room where a limited amount of l2 players post and pretty much no staff, and then you have the various spread out communities spread across a bunch of different forums where most real discussions about ingame content and happenings happen.
Welcome, Sace. It is interesting how quickly the CMs change around here. Though I don't suppose you will stay long, I do hope you are active while you are around.
Dinin's post is a serious one, and I hope you take the time to read it. I was surprised it didn't happen until the 2nd page that someone accused Dinin of botting... simply because The****ed is capable of and successfully raided Beleth. But the "poo-poo"ing that happened happens every single time something serious about the endgame is mentioned... and something that has to be waded through and endured. It's quite tedious, actually. I wish there was more monitoring of that kind of thing.
Spud, you say everyone has a voice and thereby creates equality, you forget that a majority of the posters on this forum are under the level of 75, barely have a standard-noble toon, and freak out when anyone who has taken the game in a more serious vein and has leveled up and actually engages the game at the end-game level actually has the audacity to make a post hoping for a discussion. And so therefore your argument is severly flawed.
It's pretty sad that serious posts about gaming in L2 cannot be discussed in these forums because of the pandering to these particular players and their sour grapes. And it is the reason that many wander to other forums to have serious discussion about L2 and its endgame play.
The problem is that these other forums do not have the power to address the bugs and so one must come to the Official Forums to post... and then have to wade through the "you are a botter" whiners.
I definitely would like to see the tenor of these forums change. At the moment, only the posts regarding play up to A grade and silly other subjects can be seriously discussed here.
even if dininx started a srs thread with all the info spelled out about beleth, party compositon tactics etc it will be maybe 4 people in the entire 9 servers who will know enough about the topic at hand to come here and discuss srsly.
nobody who is THAt high level reads these forums, everyone is over yonder at elliebellie and blah. even if they do read these forums they likely play other servers, or private server, where such data is sadly skewed.
theres no way in heck you can hope to have such a discussion even at blah, where so many of the posters admit to botting, encourage it, and discuss how to use programs.
recently a thread in the Pheonix section where a poster asked how to make adena, was met with "ebay" from post 3 and onward to the end of the thread by SEVERAL posters....
you can't be serious that you want to have public discussions of high level matters.... knowing your answers will be sadly tragically skewed; not only by low levels screaming "bot, hax ebay" but also by botted high levels who dont know sweet F A trying to tell you what youre sposed to do.
its not hard - these discussions arent meant for public view until 3 or 4 more years down the road. when the legit posters are 80+.
if legit discussion is what you want - youll not find many legits in Lineage2, nevermind a pool of legits at your level, who know what theyre talking about, and care to discuss with you. hell, they may even be at war with you or competing for your hero spot.
I'm a complete idiot who rifted a lot with turn undead, screwed around, and spent most of my game time looking up my characters skirt, and this one time, I went with a male dwarf behind some buildings in Giran and role-played he was mah daddy. Even I made it to 80 after 5 years of this game, and if a ****** like I can pull that off, people being 85 doesn't seem that unlikely.

It is no secret why many people that are higher levels don't post here and discuss things here as they do on Blah and Elliebelly.
There are many, many legit people who are 80+ in this game, are you kidding? As the poster before me said, after 5 years of playing this game, 80+ is absolutely achievable, even on a casual basis. Just because you and the other part of the majority of posters on these boards have chosen to not level up their toon, but to spend time in other areas, usually 1500 alts, doesn't mean that the 80+ world isn't out there and being played by quite a few people that got there "legitly," as you would call it.
It is this kind of, forgive me, ignorance that has made these boards abandoned by anyone who plays the game seriously and has their sights and experiences in the endgame. These boards could be, and have been in the past, where endgame stuff could be discussed... only then, endgame was Antharas.
and you know what i mean :p when the posters on THESE forums are 80+.
those of you 80+ now may have gotten there legitly, sure, fine, i agree.
but thats not the people who come to these forums. a lot of us are posting from palms, from work or travel netbooks.
i'd love to be 80, and i'm working towards it.... i just need time. time you were graced with, and i was not, unfortunately. in my particular case, i have to wait on a heating/cooling/curing process in order to do my job, so while i wait, i post.
in the past year ive gotten 2 levels on main class (74 and 75), and subbed destro to 61; im considering resubbing now, actually, cause i dont like how destro plays solo.
thats not a heck of a lot. i could have spent less money in this last year of paid subscription and purchased an account with an 85/80 noble on it.
Lineage2 is a game where you have to spend time to get places, and though i am just as legit as you, you were graced with more play time.
for this, you look down on me as i in my indignation look down on you.
a truly petty argument, but the only thing i and many others have to use against you. sure 76 might not take long, but youve got things i (and many others) dont; 1. time. 2. money. 3. help.
i am quite sure the vast majority of L2 players really dont care anymore if you cheat or not. but that majority is indignant against the amount of time spent in game.
its for this the devs seek always to get low levels like me pushed further ahead. i was 64 when they introduced Vitality concepts. 64 two years ago. in that two years youve gone from 81 to 85. i seen it myself, as you update signatures and word of mouth spreads.
that should tell you something, dearie. legit or not, one of us plays 100x more than the other.
Spud, I don't look down on you. Never have. Your level is not a criteria for my assessments. I have spent no money on this game, other than the monthly fee, I have played regularly, usually somewhat of a daily basis, and the only help I have received is from the clans I have been in and a few ingame friends I have managed to make. I am no different than a lot of others at my level and in the clans I am in. I have concentrated on one character, and only leveled my sub so that I could be noble. And I still did that pretty easily in the amount of time I've played the game.
And as I stated before, the reason this forum is reduced to petty discussions and such is because of the generalized atttitude and sour grapes of the people not privvy to endgame matters.
Just wondering but has anyone at NC asked themselves why they have to hire a new community manager almost every year?
OK! Never mind on that one. But with regards to the current ****ed devil of doom Santa Event and several server restarts is it possible to leave the event NPC's up a few days longer than originally planned. Or does that require the Server Names to be changed again?
I felt it required a change to reflect that my character has a different name, server, and clan. This way, I won't have to ever update it again. Until I get bored of it.
Spudnik, I don't care about lower level people having a place to post. I just don't want that whining to be so **** overwhelming as it becomes in so many threads and I don't want a community manager that is too lazy to keep threads from derailing and actually put some effort into keeping the thread clean and alive instead of locking it all the time because some certain players have to accuse any high level of botting and anyone who achieves something in the game that is actually impressive of using programs. It is pretty **** obvious that the forum leaders set the tone, just look at billys blah, it was made for talking and so it does, elliebelly with ellie and elmar(yidao) discusses all of the game content with great detail and elmar being one of the forum leaders pretty much contributing with a ton of material himself. I believe the purpose of this forum should server as a link between the players and the staff, but ever since ash was CM they have pretty much drifted further from that job and become more like mods with posting privileges if anything. They'll occasionally maybe post patch notes, they won't congratulate anyone on an impressive feat anymore, seems like most of their posts are just spam on some level. I just want a CM that takes their role more seriously and does exactly what the job title implies, dealing with community relations. If their is a known issue with certain content after a patch, make it public, let us know what you are working on. Those yearly letters we get from Omega or whoever are pretty fun, the newsletters have become useless, mostly filled with advertising of new services and new of stuff that has already been put in game. No longer do we have interviews, peaks of upcoming content, things that would actually take some effort on their behalf. I don't see why they have become so scared of communicating about the game with the players. Makes me miss the way spam and ash did their jobs.
Dinin, some noob wont be happy until they can just sit in town and see their xp go up. They dont wanna actually do anything to reach the lvl you are at, or to get the gear.
They are better off complaining than spending the time like you did.
And thats why you get flamed for discussing how to raid beleth.
I remember how Gustin was greeted back in the day when we were the first NA server to defeat Antharas. And I bet you do too :D
Welcome to the community Sace and as many have stated already before me all the best of luck ;) we are sometimes rough but we do have good hearts :D (well most of us in any case ^^ )
Heyas! :) read all the replies in this thread and had time to think about them. Now I'd like to say a few things about them, and make a statement.
I see that there are already comments on what you all want from your CM, and I welcome suggestions like these. Needless to say, I have no patience for bad language, abusive behavior and trolling. These are actually the cleanest, highly constructive forums I've seen in a long time, and I think we can all agree that it should be kept as such. I will get to know you more than my own co-workers, laugh at your jokes, sympathize with your problems, and relate all of this to my superiors on a regular basis. That being said, please remember that there are a variety of good reasons why I cannot always answer certain concerns and issues.
On a lighter note, my goal is to be a very vocal, conversational and friendly participant on these forums. I have a broad sense of humor, and love motivational posters (such as Lolcats and anything Star Trek).
Finally, random responses, in no particular order: no, white wine, can't say, soon, no comment, and THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WELCOMES! :D
better late than never i suppose.
Welcome to the official forums of Lineage 2.
... i don't like your name either.
it doesn't come across as something easy to pronounce...
your avatar image is pretty good, very professional.
it's more lively and less robotic than Nyx, but less cutesie than Lyzira.
good luck.
and try not to let us get to you.
we hate you already.
but at least there is a chance we will respect you.
and maybe a chance we will appreciate you for giving us valuable information.

Welcome to your new duties Sace. You will face a lot of frustration in these forums. NC Soft worked really hard to earn it, dropping the ball (even in simple things) multiple times. A small example might be the increase of number of active quests (it is rumored it will be implemented next update). The player community has been screaming for it for 2 years. Or the site update (previous update was already hugely delayed). Things happen (if ever) really slowly.
LOL.... ... Sace, do yourself a favor.. and ask around with your co-workers... the word "Soon" used in any of your posts will not score points with the players... been there, done that, got the hat and returned it...

1. There is an entire "Team" of community co-ordinators and managers. Of which only 2 are a face for us to see, Nyx and Sace. That being said if everything related to the community has to go through them im sure that their should be more posts then 47(in 2mths) and 7 (in 2 weeks). Lyzira was the only face for us too see and managed to be there, monitor/manage us in a very timely fashion to the tune of 907 posts in little over 1 year. (Nyx is on pace for 282 posts a year; and Sace is on pace for 182 ;) )
2. Lyzira (as an example) made it a point of communicating with the boards on all matters at all times of the day. The first true test for Sace and Nyx will come with the next event that they will be running, any problems and how fast they can get them fixed for us. Im sure they are well aware of who we are and are not just sitting back finding out who does what ^^
3. Generally they are paid to be a presence for us both in communicating to the staff of NC's different departments, as well as a presence for us here. As it is the holiday season id say yes they get time off but no week of holidays for sace she was hired too recently ;).
Just my thoughts ;) I am waiting to see something that shows me what they can or are going to do for us ^^
