Have to admit, today was the first time I "got the point" of vanguard.
Of course, the dual +13 Dama's from Santa did all the heavy lifting (swords I could never own anyway).
Still, I tend to eek out 4-5% per HOUR solo (with panther) and a tich less without panther since I pretty much have to kill blue mobs as a DA without that cat.
Granted the swords were AWESOME, but I got a bit over 8% an hour shredding green and white mobs solo--without the panther. Which makes it about the best exp I can remember.
I used a vita pop once Vitality went below 4 (cause I have a bunch) so all of the time was pretty much at Vitality of 4. But still, in a relatively short time (if you're a DA) I went from about 6% to 18%.
Fun.
Thanks L2 for letting me try the duals (I'll never own), you gave me some much needed exp and made it nearly impossible for me to go back to the old leveling!! j/k...was a lot of fun to exp for a change!
Much as I've hated this event overall, this was fun.
I'll amend my opinion of Vanguard now and admit I was wrong. It can be worthwhile and DOES make the DA into a mini-damage dealing toon. Of course, my only real test drive since having B-grade duals involved a pretty awesome set of duals here!! If you have +13 Dama/Dama vanguard is terrific--there, I've admitted I was wrong in the past :)

no, he's not kidding. Drakkos always understimated his capacity for soloing without panther, and rightly so. he's in Nightmare afterall. still A grade. no buffers, on and off at fairly irregular times so buffing him can be tricky. not at zones that are camped and botted by the majority - he usually hunts in places few people are at for obvious reasons.
but he's by far not clueless.
but i think you need to learn how to read. he used A vitality pop. somehow i doubt this infers he will CONTINUE TO USE said pop at each drop below 4 vit.
as Drakkos normally hunts with the panther, the exp he earned is naturally higher than he earns having now switched to Vanguard for the use of a Santa weapon.

I have no problem exp'ing although I'm usually solo. My DA has a pretty modest +3 weapon and borrowed +3 Nightmare. The only duals I actually own are B-grade (and "no", my toon with those duals cannot kill anything with vanguard either).
Likewise tat's are pretty mundane and I almost always have only the newbie buffs. Our clan doesn't have the hall skills and other advantages that higher buffers can give anyway--but with my playing times even if we did I'd probably be without them.
So yes, my "usual" choice is to hunt white conned mobs WITH the panther (which is expensive) or to hunt green conned mobs without the panther.
Either way, it rarely yields more than about 5% per hour or so.
The event duals and vanguard were a pleasant surprise to me. I went from about 6% this morning to 25% of the level in what, for me, was a VERY short time.
Wish I WAS kidding Smittie, but a vanilla DA in **-hum gear, solo with newbie buffs pre-76 isn't exactly a Damage Dealing whirlwind!
If I get some luck and a good combination of mobs, I can do nearly 2% in a buff round, which translates to more like 6% per hour--but that would be a good hour for me most days.
now... i call bs on this. i play a ST and even while unbuffed i can cruise along with herbs and self buffs switch to vanguard and can xp effectively. in A grade i had modest armor +3,4,3,3 maj armor and a +5 Tsu*sls duals.
my friend Vando who Is playing A DA is using +6 Sls Sls duals and loves vanguard. even when he's using his +8 Yalksa mace in A grade he still can xp on white mobs with no problem other than wasting c shots.
my friend V who is now sk has been only using com Sls Sls duals and lvling i vanguard so....
i really wonder if your playing the same game im playing cause its kinda set on easy here. not to mention why your killing blue mobs is curious to me. maybe you should try some heal pots or a pet that heals u while u xp if your afraid of seeing minimal health loss from 100% also soulshot helps.
im really not intending any negativity here just doesnt make sense reading your post why you cant face harder mobs at all.
IMO get a buffalo, drop the NM (since it sounds like your doing more solo than tanking) get maj or tallum, get a common DLE or common dama*tallum, remember herb areas are your friend...
also may i ask why you wanna transfer server pre 76? sounds as if your not looking for pvp.
if your moving to find more partys i doubt more server population = groups for a DA nobody knows.
kinda off/on topic. i hate vanguard but luv boost morale. even +16 duals were unusable when compared to event polearms

as i recall vanguard can be used with other weapons as well, not just duals.
one hand sword, two hand sword, are also useable, but what about blunts?
or is that some other skill i'm thinking about?
i've got some +4 kesh*kesh around here somewhere for when i sub class and use vanguard... and if it works with my titanous two hander at s grade, i'll be dividing heaven with the best...
