I create and delete toons for clan rep and had the unfortunate experience to learn the hard way- if transferring leftover shots/hp pots/gear/etc. always get it before the toon is deleted unlike when their was a freightmaster and it would stay on the new toon until pick up these ones dont.... :S
Sorry for your loss :P I have lost a couple of items this way also. Didnt quite understand my mail when it said Unknown, then I realised lol.
On a side note, I think you should have the option of an instant deletion, or timed. Would make things a little easier, quicker to get room, and if unsure, wait a few days and decide.

With no way to validate who is doing the deletion instant deletion = epic revenge tactic. Random dude hacks your account, guesses your pass,whatever and 5 minutes later insta deletes you 85 lvl main ;)

To further this point: This is why you shouldn't share accounts. Let's say you've known someone in the game for 3 years, you've met him in real life several times, you become nice friends blah blah blah.... One day you mention to your friend, after you've had a few drinks, that his wife has nice assets but the dimples show when in the bikini. While having a few drinks himself, and thinking it's funny, he tells his wife and she gets offended. She patiently waits til you've both logged out for the night... and when you guys get back on in the morning you discover your accounts have been hacked. You report to NC about being hacked, they investigate, see you shared accounts and ban you both. Come to find out 6 months later, through a confession of guilt, SHE is the one who "hacked" your accounts. Now you two are the butt of several asinine jokes, everyone in vent is cracking up about how you two got banned because of his wife's dimples! So don't be ****, folks, these rules exist for a reason.
i kinda like this idea or at least make it like 3 days vs 7. i mean really7 days??? when i have a friend joining game i like to lvl with them till they get to b grade and can party with a different toon of mine. but 7days kinda hinders that. I really hate it when i hear people say "just lvl more and you can join us" i rather show them the game from the beginning and hooked in right. what fun is a game if you cant play with your friends.
maybe not instant delete or if instant that it have that where you have to type in word or have it confirm with code sent to email kinda like that authenticator idea only simplified. so theres no mistaking you wanna delete it now.
also if your wife is that sensitive you shouldn't be talking about her dimples.
being hacked by a ''friend'' is the most common thing,i know people their -ex girlfriend deleted their main toon and they only saved it cause they saw it on time.
i also know at aion -where delete char can be done on 5'-there'r massive deletes on toons from unknown sources,lots of players loose their main and have to start over again,nscoft can give the toon back but without any gear,so...

Even though it is annoying, I say, let the 7 day rule stand.
Sure don't account share, ect. But I have seen alot of stuff happen when clans are at war. Would be an easy win for a clan if they could **** into the accounts of the clan they are at war with and instantly delete all their toons.
Its bad enough when you see a warred account hacked and you see them throwing their gear all over Giran, leaving the toons gearless.
Plus even if you don't share your info, and you use strong passwords, there is always the possibility of a keylogger program either from a L2 type website (since you can't find most info on this website) or possibly placed by a ticked off spouse\gf\bf that feels like they are second to your L2 character.
