It's probably trial accounts ... in the old days they used to shout/whisper ads, ncsoft removed the ability to shout and whisper from trial accounts. I really don't think they can completely block them from chatting though, think about that 1 actual new player trying a new mmo and can't communicate with anybody ingame. It'd suck.

I am in a trial account, without any will of selling adena or powerlevel or anything related with this, and simply i can't talk with anyone unless they are next to me.
So i can't use mail, i can't whisper, i can't shout, i can't even buy SSD from the shop, so i have or to use Nograde with Shot, or using D grade without using them.
Someone could say: " Well, ask ur frind to buy from u then trade " ( trade is possible? didn't tryed yet ).
The problem is that i can't contact my friends in any way except white chat, and that cuz of this bunch of .... of adena sellers.

It's a trial account....to be used to give you a feel for the game.
If you have friends etc let them give you what you need to level or spend 30 bucks and sign up.

The only feeling i am proving is the oblige to use No grade weapon even if at lvl 25 cuz i just can't buy the ssd from a shop and, the nograde weapon + ssnograde, give slighty more damage then the D grade without soulshot.
Without counting i couldn't shout to try to find gruop for kamaloka.
So basically i am in need that someone shout that look for a group cuz, unless, i can't search for it.
But, to be honest the most boring things is that i can't even communicate to people except for the white chat >.<
As the quote say, blocking content it is easier then policings.

It took me a few weeks just to get the lay of the land plus i kept getting killed by a fun guy on TI. I know things have changed but friends arew friends The guy said he had friends that played...i'm sure friends would help him out....if they don't well so much for "friends"

I know ... point is though, somebody trying out lineage 2 today not 5 years ago. And all friends can do to help somebody on a trial account is buy some SSD and drop it for him to pickup, not much else. And to do that he 'll have to MSN them or something cause ingame he cant contact them :)
But once again, my point was that trial accounts are supposed to be marketing ploys, a chance for new people to try out the game. You limit them too much you lose any marketing value and what you end up with is just accounts people use to powerlevel clan rep alts.

there was a character in Giran, phoenix server a day or so ago spamming web sites to sell adena, white chat only... i ignored it knowing that it would probably get banned for the action... 5 hours later was still there.
not there now, or at least not close enough to me to be heard.
someone had told me that these spammers were GM's trying to catch ebuyers. however, i'm disinclined to believe such treachery would be enacted by the staff at NCsoft.

However suggest to your friends that they accompany you on your levelling journey...its not much fun to have friends if you can't play with them and they must be a few levels above you. They can help you with quests...show you the best spots to level...supply you with gear and shots. If they do that for you you won't need to do most of what you listed. Then if you like stay. You might want to read what others have said about what it takes to get competitive and see if that's up your alley.

it's happening on devianne too. I've reported people everyday for the past week or so...multiple people a day. i assume they'd have thier spambots running on all servers.

Well my friend are...50+ level higher then me so, well, don't think they can help me with quest. They helped me with equip, and some adena, but to be honest, i don't feel to msn them everytime i see soemone that look for ppl for kamaloka, and i can't answer cuz i can't shout or whisper. Or cuz i finished the 3.5k ssd i have on me cuz i can't bring more ( u know? I can't even use warehouse to store the good i don't need ).

The spamming has been happening on Sayha also. I have sent petitions in several times this weekend about it, classified under 'Use of Illegal Program'.

I just want to confirm that you'll be seeing adena selling/power level service spam in white text chat now because, as was previously stated, we've made some changes to trial restrictions. We are adding some additional coverage by our GM's around the towns that have been mentioned here, as well as other areas where this is cropping up. Please continue reporting these spammers, as they are very easy to confirm and remove from the game.
As an additional note, I also want to confirm what was said about the purpose of trials. We do want new players to be able to experience the game at a basic level before committing to the purchase of the game. However, as we've seen, trials will be abused. The limitations we have put in place are to help us prevent the extent of that abuse while still letting new players visit Aden.

Afaic i wouldn't bother banning them unless you were to ban the ip...but they may have one of those revolving ip things. They are just gonna get another trial account. I hated the pink messages we used to get all the time and somehow you guys stopped that just fine!

get rid of the GK!, but seriously, why do people all port into giran and just stand there at the port point?

i am coming in this forum just since few times cuz i have got a trial account.
I understand ur ( company i mean ) point of view, but i also must say that the trial account, as it is atm, doesn't let us experience the game as it is.
As i was saying before, cuz of botter, rmt, and things like that, i can't find a party, becouse i can't whisper or shout, at the shout that ask for members.
I can't use D grade soulshot ( and so D grade weapon ), becouse i can't buy from shops.
And if some generous guy give me mass ssd so i am done for a while, i am oblige to exp in overweight cuz i can't deposit anything in my own private warehouse.
I am even called scammer! Just 2 days ago, i went kamaloka with a party of 3 players ( counting me too ), set as random loot and at the pick up of the drop, i got 2 full piece of D grade armor, another guy got 1 ewd, and another 1 got nothing at all.
Well, they asked me to trade them at least one piece but, as u know, i just couldn't. so they start QQing that i am a thief cuz i was faking the fact that i am on a trial account cuz i wanted to keep for me the drop.
There is really no way to limit the abuse that let us, real player that really want to try the game, the ability to do something?

I hated the adena PMs, but isn't there some less restrictive way of dealing with it overall? Like an overall restriction on how many people one char can whisper to in a given time span (like 3 ppl in a minute). Maybe a script that scans your logs for certain phrases such as the name of the sites that are being advertised, or add these sites to the chat filter?
Perhaps you guys have tried something like that already and it didn't work. It's just a shame because you guys have made some great improvements to the game for new players, but with the current restrictions I think most trial players will walk away with a bad taste in their mouth.
maybe implementing dss quest for newbies? or giving a base amount of dss when a lowbie hits 20 like the ones that you get in ng. where you cant sell them but maybe get 40k worth over all?

Ya no Dss is lol. It now takes 1-2 hours max to hit 20, but the trial is good for 1 or 2 weeks? Come on now, you might have meant well, but you're just turning any new people off to the game with that.

Do you realize how many people in the world use dynamic ips? Then there are proxies, etc. IP banning is not a viable option.
That's what i said in my 1st post but options are rather limited if you want to have 2 week free trials.
It is my belief that all the "i'm a new player post" are from current users...using free trials accounts...but even if they were legit what have we seen mabe 10max...:/ I don't think there are many new players joining this game at all...the game is 6 years old... i think NC missed the window :) ...so if they eliminated the trial accounts i don't think it would make any difference to the number of players. Of course the Adena Sellers would suffer but not too much.
If NC wants to get these people they could ...just set up a GM at all the gate keepers....but they don't have GMs anymore ...lol.
theres like a whole thread about people being transported and losing cp i would say gms are there. my friend had a raid boss spawn and disappear in front of him on iop. i didn't believe him but every 2 mins vampires would spawn and disappear with the raid title over them. we kept trying to bait some bots over to see if they would hit it.

We're getting some great conversation going here. I like it. We will be implementing the new free trial page next week and will be keeping the current trial restrictions, however, we're open to great ideas, like the DSS quest idea. We'll be listening to existing player feedback, as well as new players who are experiencing the trial and Lineage II for the first time.
dont forget dbsps not just dsps. it would give the newbies a chance to compete with the real players. however perhaps have a quest that gives a option of reward? say like 50 quest pieces can get dsps but 80 can get dbsps.
now also take in account how much is needed to actually lvl and not short change people to where everything just runs out so they cant keep the quest going? this is assuming they can keep it going so long as its a time trial. or maybe just have a lvl cap or max shots one can get. idk
heres a thought... how about a toggle under options that allow's chat with trial accounts. like you can turn it off if its a trial account talking?
