Oly matches limited by lvl.

1. No, I dont think lvl limit would make it more interesting
2. Yes, I wanna do more matches at oly

Oo
I answered yes but in this game it will make far more bigger problems than it will solve cause of the abuse!!! It will provide more ways for bots and botters to make heros or gain more points!! And all starts back to the real probb
my suggestion: only ONE oly point is won/lost per match.
= more matches and closer competition for top spots.

I voted "no" because I want the chance to go against someone higher level than me. Sure, I lose, but fighting the higher classes makes you a better player. How are you ever going to get better if you don't go against the top dogs?

Competition is the spice of life! :D

Fighting a black belt martial arts guy will make you jump from white to black or make you win against another white belt? No, you need fight trough white, yelow, blue, orange, till you can face the black belt.

dunno what u can learn from being 1shotted by a titan/nuker
Emo quit and go practice karate then. Why are you playing? Seriously!

I pratice already. You in the other hand should learn what is "learn in steps" :), and what competition is based of.
I'm not the one on here crying that I only wanna play with my own levels in the oly. If you don't like the way it is, don't play in it. Simple as that.

It's the luck of the draw. Sometime I get my own level, sometimes I don't. I like it that way. You don't.
It is no the level the problem, but equipment i don't think a level 85 with a grade can beat a level 76 with oe s grade and elements and epic jewel ;)

Lucky of the draw... wondering if you like to play russe roulet and get out o lucky.

Nobody is crying, we are discussing a way to improve it and make MORE people play oly, as it is now its already proved to be a fail. Its ok if you like to be farmed by the higher lvl's or kiss the floor fast, they can maybe create a maso competition at oly. :)

you learn to sign after they are already in a match lol

Well i can't say, never saw such a thing but i think the skills of the s8x + the normal gap will make the 8x win.
Any martial arts student should know you don't gain skill by fighting equals or less, that is merely practice. I vote "no" to the proposed change.

Edit: Your poll choices are broken btw.
lvl 79 nukers/daggers/healers (well equipped) can rock my class at 85 so no i don't think lvl has much to do with OLY balance

Any martial arts student should know that you can fight people stronger then you at the same grade you are. But you can fight your Sensei everyday and you will NEVER win unless you win the ones at your grade first and and jump to the next. If you pratice you know how it works so its not only "merely pratice".

I know they are broke but i could not fix it. But everybody got the idea, thats what matters.
Some classes struggle to even fill CC , so by lvl would kill CC. Maybe 1 point per win / loss like someone else suggested , would def make a lot more oly matches then people just getting their 9 matches in while going for 50 point's ( like I do ).
well i voted no but thats to be expected i would think

Belt color doesn't dictate skill or ability to win. You may know every move (block, punch, kick, jab, tumbling, etc) as you should in order to gain a belt, but that doesn't mean you know how to use it. There are people who have no formal martial arts training and still win in a fight against those who do, though certainly not always it IS possible. I had to fight my Sensei several times. I never won, but I learned a lot more from fighting him than anyone else in the school. His knowledge was instinctual, though, while I still had to think about what I was doing. A persons reactions are faster when instinctual because a part of you takes over and "bypasses" the thought process. Deciding you won't win against someone who is higher level (or belt, etc) because you are lower means you will not win. My Sensei taught us "If you go in with a bad attitude you will lose before you start." Same thing applies in L2.

Learning when NOT to use a skill is something many people don't learn. Learning what NOT to do is just as important, sometimes more, as learning what TO do. It's ALL about learning. Whether you win or lose, whether you gain points or not, you still win if you learn something to make yourself better. My friend learned in Oly you don't want to always throw Enlightenment right off the bat because under the right circumstance you could simply waste it. Having learned that he's managed to fight certain people much more efficiently. I've learned to put myself in a corner when fighting daggers, learned to run up to archers and nukers, learned to kite, among other things. While I still lose, every thing I have learned has made me much better at my character and has brought me FAR closer to victory. Sure, currently there are people I simply can't beat because of level and gear, but I use them as opportunities to learn.

No, I don't win in Oly yet, but the more I play and learn the better I'll get and I learn a lot more when fighting people higher than I am.

I know they are broke but i could not fix it. But everybody got the idea, thats what matters.

I wasn't meaning to be a jerk, sorry it came across that way.
Anyways a good starter would by the points transfered when u lose to depend on the lvl deferences!!that would make ppl that lose from higher and stronger oly farmers have more fun by losing less points to the farmers and making more games
if oly is by lvl range there should be heroes for all lvls then..
See, i'm only 79 but i enjoy showing up and high-lighting how terrible the s84+ botters are at their class. :p
The 1 point per win/loss sounds good, but it would make it too easy to figure out how many points the hero had to claim hero status. That is the only problem I see with this idea.

So ? Would force that person to play more matches / be active , same with the competition. Could make "Hero status" more like "I have no life" status though if done that way , person that camp's the most winzzzz .
i'd prefer a system where you take 30% of the points of the highest player when you win so for example:
gimp BH has 10 points and loses to oly farmer with 10,000 points he loses 3 points but if by some miracle he wins he gains 3,000 points

/This

A fantastic idea. However why are people still looking for some semblance of balance in this game? It's not made for that. Embrace the chaos and enjoy it!

Ofc the oly enforcer winning that match would result in the BH losing all of its points right?

No... It's a Stupid Idea. LeChat's idea at least has merit, where overcoming overwhelming odds and winning should grant you more than simply your maximum.
To bad the only way you are gonna overcome those overwhelming odd's is if a) person lagg's right the hell out. b) He/She signed to get in a CC waves , got bored , went afk , came back to late. c) DC's during match. The classes that should beat the other classes generally do ( paper rock scissors ) besides when the class that shouldn't beat said other class is way overgeared and lvled compared to the class it shouldn't beat.
What decides if its "against all odds" and warrants a massive reward for little to no risk?
if a toon has 50 million points ya kinda gotta assume they are somewhat powerful
if a toon has 50 million points ya kinda gotta assume they are somewhat powerful

And what is the break point for the underdog?

At what point does he start risking more of his points?
if a toon has 50 million points ya kinda gotta assume they are somewhat powerful

Yesterday my tank had like 24 points, today he has 668, was he an underdog? With your system I 'd have a couple of thousand
Actually it makes perfect sense if you look at it not as a number but as an actually percentage. Sure if you were uber and awesome and won so much you had 668 points, you'd be rolling in it. One loss however and you'd be in tears.

The truth is a system like this would reward people for beating or getting fed by worthy players. Not the random Common A grade wearer who just wants his 9 matches. It may not be what you're used to but think about it again.
These uber farmers who spend all day 24/7 playing oly to have 'leet' points would be worried as hell if they ever ran into someone that mattered. Or a clan out to get some heroes. I can't see how it would be terrible. Unless people really don't want any actual competition in oly (we've farmed/fed enough. Let's go watch TV, we got hero).

It would "reward" those that can do oly rushes. Send your farmer classes out, get them 5000 points each then get 5-6 hero classes with 1 restart ;)

Plus it rewards NOT doing oly till the last possible moment, especially if you 're a farmer class ... let other people scoop up the 1/2/3/4/5 points per match from the easy classes, go in, get hundreds of points per win
Not entirely. You'd naturally get a feel for how much points you need to take hero. The end of the month rushers may or may not get anywhere if you're packing say 300 points already. Especially if they are fighting against lots of 9 match lowbies.

It's not like people don't already wait till more or less the latter half of the month to do oly anyways.

I dunno'. Personally it sounds like it would bring a new interesting dynamic to oly. It doesn't seem like it would benefit the early all day, all week farmers, nor the last minute 9 match farmers. Sure as you pile up the points, the pressure would start to build. When do you call it quits? Are you an oly farmer? Can you handle it? Will you fail when a 'real' match crops up? Do you have enough clannies to stack your points if you fail?
There would be no guarantees. If you flop too much you disappoint everyone and fail.

I think properly placed, chaos if this nature is interesting... Of course it would never happen :P
Tks all that voted and posted your opnions. For me its clear that oly needs a modification, lot´s of people don´t enjoy it as it is now, and people would make more matches at oly if they could not be forced to face higher lvl people.
yeah props for making a poll with options that make no sense

Too late to complain or flame, its not so dificult to decide yes or no for a simple question, even if the text after the Yes or No is not well described. If you think the results are not what they should be you can start your own smart poll :).
Now that you know "how the ppl feel". What are you gonna do with this information?

Write a letter to NCsoft to cater to lowbies in Oly?

It's not so difficult to make a poll with legitimate answers too k thx. Crafting the options to only show what you want is kind of sad and narrow minded (like US political question polls lol).

Sugestion was already made, now its up to ncsoft.
So now I have to make a poll about in what degree your poll and suggestions sucks?
What next? Someone else will make a poll because of my poll is not what they want to see?
lol
Go make some more xp instead of beeing a forum worrior and maybe some day you'll be an oly factor too.

It's never too late to flame :D

Surely. Especially as the correct answer is "it depends".

Actually, I was surprised that less than 60% said "yes". I thought that wishful thinking was more popular among L2 players.
Having a lvl limit on oly is a bad idea in my opinion. You could have lower lvl people taking hero from people who are actually better.

I like the idea of 1 pt per match, that would increase how much people play oly.

I think to help oly they should make it where you can't face anyone in your own clan or alliance. This would help tone down the feeding. It would still happen, but it wouldn't be as rampant.
1 point per match won't change anything, imo.
why? because ppl feeded will still be feeded.

I respectfully disagree. It will be a lot harder to feed up to a "safe" level and I think more people will go in to try to be spoilers if they only lose one point at a time.

It would be interesting to see NC test this out for a month.
No need for big changes imo. 76-80 and 81-85 would be just perfect but I really doubt those changes will ever be implemented thanks to wishful thinking forum also know as Suggestions.

Reread the poll question you set, it is along the lines of

Do you want to eat low fat yogurt
or
Do you want to die of a heart attack

The fact you may not do olympiad cause you feel you can't compete with the higher levels doesn't mean segregating the population will actually make anybody do more oly.

I belive people will have a reason to try to win more matches without the fear of be farmed by some lvl 85 as it is now.

Some people think yes some don't, the truth is that we will only know if we can test it in teh future. :)
I give up lol. I could care less what they do to improve oly, as long as I can pick up my 30+ codex a month lol.

Ty NCsoft for noble by TW.
mb woud be good if was somethink change with points, like...if lvl 79 lose vs lvl85 u woud not lose any point... even 2lvls at oly is rly big difference
If L2 wanted to give everyone an equal opportunity to compete the level cap would be 80 and s80 would be optainable from stores and the top armor. You can play whatever way you want and get fun out of it in any way that pleases you, but, by design the "goal" of the game is to have the highest level, best gear and to pvp enough on your way there to know how to play your toon. Why should oly be different? It's a competiton for the "best" of each class. I used to get 1 shot a lot in oly. To this day a lot of players and classes destroy me with there being little I can do about it. If I get 1 shot by a high level legit player that plays his toon well that's alright - he put in the time, the effort, the ect and is simply "better". If I get beat by a high lvl bot I'm of course ****** - but that's because he's a bot, everyone knows it, and he's STILL not banned (and more often then not absolutely full of himself).

"But it's not my fault that I can't play 24 hours a day and that my class sucks at oly"? - There are ways of organizing waves that consist of similarly leveld players and avoiding high level oly sharks. Try to get something going with your clan and your friends - L2 is a heavily clan- and group based game afer all: without a strong clan behind you you won't get very far. (You could also ask your clan to help you xp, which they will gladly do if you're an oly enforcer class burning to enforce some!).
Another thing is that a lot of classes that excell in oly are inferior in pve (Tanks, PPs, OLs, Soulhounds for example) and vice versa. In that respect the game is almost balancing out a part of it's imbalanced-ness. So if you're a destroyer and you QQ because your class isn't awesome in oly (learn how to frenzy before the match starts) look at the pace you xp in vs a Tank's xp rate.

@the poll: a lot of the official-forum warriors are not near average level in-game. Average level atm is 80-82. So a poll answered by mostly 76-79 players doesn't reflect what the "average" player wants. I suggest someone start this poll on blah (which is pretty much the exact opposite of the official forums in terms of level-range and legit-ness) and you'll probably get an overwhelming "LOL NO F'ING CAREBEAR" result. The truth is definitely inbetween both polls, but I'd assume that the blah-poll would represent a higher % of the L2-pop.
mb woud be good if was somethink change with points, like...if lvl 79 lose vs lvl85 u woud not lose any point... even 2lvls at oly is rly big difference

Why? ...

People need to stop with these ideas of putting handicaps in the game all the time... If people want to keep crying about this, then you shouldn't be able to do Oly until your 83+ then. That makes more sense then trying to find ways so that lower level people should have an equal opportunity in Olympiad, which they should not frankly.
