Hey, so far I love this game. It looks pretty competitive, so it's my style PvP-wise.
Sole RP, or PvP bores me to death though. I want to change from one concept to the other.
Nevertheless, this is advertised as a MMORPG, but I am struggling in the last three letters. Some people told me there is some RP going on, yet to find any.
Even worse, most people I came into contact seem completely untrained in any kind of RP. Let alone build a character with a personality. All convos seem like a constant OOC flood. There is no connection with the class, no feeling, no undestranding, nothing.
I am strongly against forcing people to RP, but at least some encouragement should have been given. I know for sure, once people understand and start using some elements of RP into their game things get spiced up in an amazing way.
So, is there any place where I can find both RP and PvP? If yes, where is it? I know a couple of NWN2 servers with strict RP, but PvP is non-existant there... So again, not what I like!
You may think I insist, but I know for practice PvP + RP is double the fun. So...
What about an alternative competition RP Olympiad for a start, or at least something to encourage people to show some motivation into RP?

There are few clans that (successfully) merge the two concepts.
I am clan leader of one of the last remaining RP clans in the game. We are focused more on RP and character development, but we miss what you are desiring in that we don't do too much PVP.
We have run PVP events in the past, within the clan and our alliance, but it's not something we look at regularly.

as much of a faux-pas as this is, i have to do it - this is not wow where entire servers mix pvp and rp. in Lineage2 you will find the two are for the most part mutually exclusive.
the powerful people are not RP'ers and the RP'ers dont have the same level of competition to be able to say they are PVPers as well.
nevertheless, as JKoster says, the few RP clans that exist are indeed TRYING to get that level of power to compete at the same levels.
