Hey guys, I used to play on Phoenix as a sword singer, but if I come back, I'll probably start over in some other server since my sword singer was left with nothing. So, I've been told that dwarves are terrible with making money now (I'm shocked) and that being either a high damage class or a good support class is the way to go. If that's true, I'm deciding between a blade dancer or a storm howler. Also, if any clans/people are willing to help me out, that'd be great. Not mooching, just don't really want to play alone, this game isn't really fun when playing alone :/
Dwarves can be good or bad at making money. It depends.... actually it depends on the player playing the dwarf. Smart, economic, business minded players can make a lot of money with a dwarf. Those who lack the relevant traits cannot make money on a dwarf or on any other toon, either.
It is easier to make money with a dwarf than with other classes, I believe.
Smart Dwarf players can make money - but a smart any-other-class player can make more money. Spoiling and crafting are worthless these days unless you're 80+. Stick with support or good DD to be able to hunt in good areas and get decent drops and try to play the market and set up shops overnight.
If you don't want to play alone - don't go nuker! That's definitely a solo class! For support BD is a good choice, so is SE. If you want to go DD and you don't have a lot of funds try to pick a class that isn't very gear-dependant (archers are absolutely gear dependant) or doesn't use too many shots (Daggers and Soulhounds go through unreal amounts of shots). A really cheap yet decent DD class with "support" option is Warlock - but only if you're into the summoner playstyle (Apparently Summoners are in for a huge boost in the next chronicles, so this might actually be a pretty good choice). Other then that, I'd consider Glad, Dread, Destro or Tyrant for DD (pve DD - all these classes need to be stacked out to not-suck at pvp) or Berzerker (much much more squishy in pve, but good pvp toon at high level).
