Cryo is a Senior Quality Assurance Tester. He spends a bit of his QA time testing in-game events and creating new GM events, which we will see more of in the coming months. Get to know him by asking your questions in this thread!
While he cannot answer any questions regarding the status on ongoing issues, we encourage you to learn more about his roll.
In one week, we will select from the list of questions and he will post his answers to them, in addition to any other questions and answers that he would like to share.
when you post an event for us, it is usually followed by much criticism and cynicism and pessimism about every event, usually ending in the argument that there can be no event that would please the players as every player is looking for a bit of something different from the events. how have you attempted to harmonize the event suggestions, and present material that benefits the majority of the players?
alternate query: does the event team play like regular players in the community and listen for suggestions, or do they only take suggestions from the Forum staff?
On the QA side: How much are you actually able to adjust/fix on the NA side as opposed to what has to be handed off to Korea?
or
On the event side: In what direction do you see the next several events going? Will they be aimed at pushing the player base closer toward level cap or more along the money/rare item end of things?
Does GM event means that event will be lead and controled by some GM manually. Like global shout "Princes Elly broken they perl necklase when was playing near elven lake. All perls were lost near that lake. Please find these perls and bring back to Elly in giran. Necklase was done from 20 perls. Princes will reward 10mil adena for each perl."
And items "perls" manually placed on some random places near specific lake.
just imagine that half of server live players will run to elven fortress to find specific items and etc. Fights between enemies included.
I mean will be these events driven by human?
If so, it is strong improvemenet in game world.
Next question: will usual players have a place to store suggestions for future events?
Please remember to keep this thread as a list of questions only, no discussion! :) (and no racism, seriously guys)
Has the Community staff been given any education about what their job is, or any reading comprehension seminars?
Also a course in what racism is would be nice, since they seem to fail at reading that too.
(There ya go Sace, a question for Cryo instead of one explaining to the south american, that poor service to his country has nothing to do with racism).
1) How many people do you have working on the QA team? Is the QA team generally an interdisciplinary team of people from the company that test things as needed or are they strictly QA professionals?
2) Are you a player in the community of L2 or do you just experience the game when you're working?
3) What is your background? Would you like to share any other gaming environments you've worked on or other roles you've satisfied at NC-NA?
4) How much control/say does the NC-NA QA team have over the localization process? Does your QA team work with game mechanics (ie, class balance) or do you mostly focus on client side implimentations/coding?
Just a few questions that came to mind randomly, answer if you wish :)
Do you work with the QA department of other countries ? I especially think with the Korean QA Department :)
What is a common day for you ?
How did you become a senior QA tester ?
How do you flyspray is organised ? :P
Do you think you will, one day, create a department like the Lineage 2 Laboratory in South Korea which is an official department (Well, it's not far of your work :))
Is it possible that Event GM's can be more ingame like what Lyzira did 6 months, to interact more to players? There's a big need of real time interaction between GM's and Players.
My question is:
- Do your team make game fixes with help of Korean developers department? Or it depends by issue and some fixes made by QA team NCSoft West only?
