Short explanation what happened on Teon during last week: one clan had ALL enchantable skills enchanced +15/+30 using an exploit as a consequence half of the clan got banned including many many heroes however:
This mail is to notify you that your account [...] was found violating the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct by participating in the use of a skill enchanting exploit. As a result of this violation, this account suspended from the Lineage II service for 7 days, starting February 22, 2010. Upon completing the 7 day suspension, the account will be allowed to return to the Lineage II servic The characters logged to have engaged in this exploit have had any skills modified through the use of the exploit removed from the character. It will be necessary for the character to earn the SP to reacquire the skill again. If the character had achieved Hero status, this has also been removed from the character
Make your own conclusion. Anyway my acc's already canceled hope to see you in TERA because I ain't going to play any NC game again.
in a game with population on servers dropping below 1k players daily, you cant ban everybody or no1 will be left. Ncsoft finally did something right. They removed the exploited skills and made the players relearn them. They also removed their hero status on the accounts that were hero,(because exploiting skills = winning oly matches). I agree with ncsoft decision 100%.
i dont understand how can u call it a green light. more of a warning.
I think what the OP is saying someone cheated ...got caught and brought back to where they were before they cheated.
What that may lead some people to do is.... cheat like crazy and if you get caught for something you just get put back to where they caught you. So a person does 20 different cheats...get caught on number 20 and gets moved back to #19.
Of course if you don't cheat then this post means little to you cause like everyone says the fact that some people cheat does not affect you.
I'm pretty sure they were perma banned at first, so I guess NCSoft went back on their initial punishment.
So now all of a sudden I guess exploiting a bug and getting caught just earns you a slap on the fingers, but people spending 100m to buy a timecard to keep their account active get a permaban. One would think it would be the other way around, blatantly abusing exploits is usually considered the most serious violation. But I guess some sense of whats reasonable and being consistent isn't part of the ncsoft mentality.
I think was ok what ncsoft did. These guys didnt end up where they started, they got put back some (eg: mighta got hero anyway but now dont, mighta had a +12 whatever skill thats now +0), which hopefully gives the message if you discover/use a clear bug exploit, dont bother cause within short time you'll have lost your gains and be worse off that before. This I think has effect as long as all (true) bug exploiting can be enforced, with permaban for repeats.
My opinion anyway, good job ncsoft, for catch and enforce penalty. This is far better than them not being caught/punished, and not as harsh as to kill the playerbase... I mean its a bug in the game right the game can take part of the blame for that.
When you would think they get a clue they unban the cheaters and make US Legit players feel like fools cause we don't cheat
Way to Go NC Soft EPIC FAIL
Since this last year cheaters are getting it harder and harder.
And I feel no fool. I refuse to let any cheat effect my game. I dont care if it means they are hero. Or can kill me. So what, if you know they cheat, counts for nothing imo. But beat them... wow they must suck to cheat and still lose right.

Newsflash: Most, if not all, of the involved players already are repeat offenders. Most of them already got sevaral of their accounts banned in the past.
Why, whenever I see someone who really deserved for ban, he gets unbanned after few days? Just keep them banned and let them bot/buy new chars, like they already did few times. At least this would hurt them a bit, and it's not like you loose customers here.

NC could do the exact same thing with RMTs, remove anything that the person is being accused of buying etc.

nice penalty :D
so,this kind of punishment should be used also for bot?
ok,remove the exp and all the things the char got by botting.
i don't think so,since if you bot you get perma ban,and tbh using bugs and exploits is worst than just botting...
Funny to read how people are against bots bot here ''nothing big deal''. Hypocrisy at its best. It's the same just in other hands. This one is even worse as you can level your self eventually but making +30 skills isn't going to be as easy.
Btw every character who violated EULA and got banned have a right to be unbanned.

it's the best thing ncsoft can do since they are doing unfair things, such as banning legit players and keep unbanned unlegit players, and i think give a second chance it's a good thinkg for both players and NCSoft.
hope GMs,or any other ncsoft member read this forum and everything people says here and thinks about it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. As their are legit people that would like a more severe punishment so are their others that think the punishment is adaquate. Some people will want to minimize the punishment just incase and others that are legit want it mazimized since they have nothing to fear.
The funny thing is its obvious cause its usually the same folks defending ;)
botting should and is perma ban, no matter what ur excuse is
heck, i know something worse than getting banned, delete their botted chars and take their adena and items, leaving them with a stripped account
these exploiters got a warning and the skills reset
that should be the case of other cases like this too
hmm, an exploit eh, which allows max Enchanting, that sounds interesting.
i'd like in on that action... however, even though it would result in me being banned, i just sort of want to know how much skills add as there are not any good guides available.
it's research... i swear...
i guess maybe some day on a pts or something i should do just that and monitor skill enchant rates and % increases.
good for NCsoft bringing the Ban warning combined with resource removal...
although i would love to know how they did it, in case it's still available and i accidentally stumble onto it...

"A warning"? You don't "warn" someone who got caught with the same crime for the fourth or fifth time just because he was in jail for the previous ones. He's a repeat offender. You stick him right back in jail.
The people banned there have broken the EULA more than one time already, and got caught and banned for it more than one time too. The time for warnings was when they did their first EULA violation, not at their fifth or twentieth or whatever.
I dont know which is worse. Either this kind of exploit is considered "minor" and only given a temp ban/slap on the wrist, or some players/clans have "special" status and get treated differently.

I'm sure the cheat is well known to more than those that got caught. I would imagine not all the people that exploited this got their skills up to 30+. The smart ones will only do a little at a time and not draw attention. Kinda like the OE scams.
could you answer question why people who used adena exploit are perma banned? Shouldn't they received warnings?
becouse ncsoft do unfair things, and lots of mistakes.
and the thing about "every character who violated EULA and got banned have a right to be unbanned." would be something good and fair tbh.
I see this as a question that NCSoft got "partly or mostly" right.
That question being: is there a difference between profiting by an exploit (which is a game glitch) and other types of EULA violations (like botting & other 3rd party software use)?
It appears to me that NCSoft has said there IS (or might be) some difference between certain types of EULA violations.
Overall I'm okay with that--which means I reject the OP's conclusions.
Trading adena across servers is a violation of the EULA. It is wrong and if everyone did it, it is the sort of thing that could unbalance or economically influence a server.
This is the old "I've got 10m on Devianne you want, you have 10m on Phoenix that I want now--how about we trade?"
It violates the EULA too.
Is it the same offense in my mind that using radar and walker and such are? Tbh, no. I don't see it the same.
An exploit (game glitch) allows you to push 2 keys and teleport at the GK for free even though you are level 68....should all your accounts be perma-banned? I'm not so sure that punishment fits the crime in my mind. It's a game glitch you exploited.
A guy in real life runs a stop sign--he has done something wrong. We don't throw him in jail for 30 years.
Another guy shoots a bank teller as he's robbing a bank, we don't issue a citation and fine him $85.00.
I'm basically okay with NCSoft trying to make determinations and have varied punishments depending upon "the crime".

yes,ok,cool story
too bad alot of ppl who got banned for bot,got unbanned for mass petitions, even if they botted, and about the exploits,i don't think teleport for free is the same as having all the skills enchanted +15/+30,since it changes the server too as for the adena trade,an example?
in pvp for raids,u have much more chances to win,u even exp easly, all is easyer,u have much more chances to win in olympiad, this means u can easly get hero and make sad or even quit some other player who had good chances and a strong character.
they removed hero status from them they said, what a joke, they r gonna get unbanned the firt of march when heroes reset, they lost nothing,7 days w/o plaing is nothing compared to have again theyr character, they should also remove exp,and epics they got so,or i am wrong?they enjoyed having these skills OE,they used a bug, they didn't report it,and took advance of it,and they dont freaking care about those 7 days.
unlegits 1 ncsoft 0.
about bot, lots of ppl who botted got unbanned, and lots of ppl who botted didn't get unbanned
is this fair?some ppl get a second chance, some ppl doesnt
same for Bugs and exploit, some ppl got theyr account perma banned, and,as we see, some ppl just 7 or even 3 days of ban.
nothing is fair here, and just tell me if i am wrong, srsly.
(woud like to add one thing,we talk about botters and cheaters, what about ppl(ME) who get banned for being sat down?i wanna know how can i lose an account for doing nothing, instead who cheat and break the EULA just 7 days of ban, then ppl tell me i am upset.
I think, even if prior warnings/temp bans have been given to these players for unrelated EULA offenses, NCSoft got it right.
In this case NCSoft (actually Korea) is culpable, its their bug. If there wasn't a bug the exploit would not exist and the whole matter wouldn't have happened. Detecting it and putting it right is important and making it known that using that exploit again would cause a permaban is the right course.
few things in this world are right. NC hasnt done things right since they started with Lineage1. theyre not going to start now.
See I thought you were such a positive for within the community Spudnik. If this did indeed happen I would like to know why this isn't a permanent ban considering the player knew this was an exploit and did it anyway.

For those players that completed in oly after using this exploit were the players that lost in oly given some sort of a return to there stature. Points restored? and the like?

The community gains no positive resources by returning a player to a game who knowingly cheated. They still cheated and stole from players regardless of time.

Depends on who you are obviously and what country you log in from.
I'm still wondering why the internal communication between the customer and NCSoft staff is on the forums considering you know the forum rules updated and such.
I think, even if prior warnings/temp bans have been given to these players for unrelated EULA offenses, NCSoft got it right.
You still don't get it, do you? Most of those players already got multiple permanent bans before. They just made new chars, botted them up to 80+ ...
To quote one of them:
Only thing i feel sorry for, is ourselfs (SH), cuz everytime we start winning, we ALWAYS will do something unlegit, something stupid, something unnecessary and loose work of months.
I'm still wondering why the internal communication between the customer and NCSoft staff is on the forums considering you know the forum rules updated and such.
"Bread and circuses"
Lets folks to chat.
Where:
Bread would be feeding them with news like official rules
circuses just free fights on forum
P.S. Tbh lost rest of faith in seance of struggling
Yesterday had long chat with new fellow in clan that e-bay is not best direction to follow, and is not worth.
But it look that he is just smart and I'm that stupid.
Of all the things you could get Permanently Banned for, and Unbanned after... this has to be one of the worst scenarios I have seen. You would have figured people who bought Adena/Abused Language/Botted would have gotten a 2nd chance above people who deliberately exploited the game like they did, and to the extent they did (Level 81's with +15/30 Skills? lol.) ...
I don't get the whole "NcSoft is killing servers" when the people who did this in the first place knew very well what they were doing, and the consequences... NcSoft isn't killing servers, idiots who do stupid crap like this, and then cry about it after are the ones who kill the servers.
there are tons of people that are into their 5th or 6th chance....
What happened to 3 strikes your out? In this case 1st offense ok they didn't know any better. 2nd time sorry you knew better now you get a longer ban to remind you not to do it again. 3rd time permanent ban and a complete acct wipe.
Some one do a cut and paste of the game rules that deal with exploits please. If i missed that it was already done which page is it on? This way it refreshes everyones memory on the rules regarding it.
i think some people push the legal matter to the point of stating that repeat offences on a single specific thing would signify a perma ban, however on a completely different style offence it's considered a first strike every time..
As youâve read, there were some players that benefited from an exploit which allowed skill enchanting in a way that was not intended and considered an exploit. After conducting a very detailed investigation, we were able to determine those who used the exploit and those who benefited from the exploit.
Those who used the exploit will no longer be spending time in Lineage II.
Those who benefited from the exploit received what we feel is an appropriate response to their involvement. This includes, but is not limited to, a 7 day account suspension, complete removal of all skills modified through the exploit, and removal of Hero status (when applicable).
Also, because we know they will need to earn the SP back to reacquire the skills removed, they have been added to a watch list to be periodically followed up on to see if theyâre botting or engaging in Real Money Trade (RMT) activities.
We wonât be discussing the specifics of the investigation, but I wanted to provide some transparency to the community members who have expressed concern about our actions as a company.
The best advice we can give you is to play safe. Do not participate in Real Money Trades. We donât punish people for legitimately trading Adena or items with their friends, so please do not worry about this. Do not participate in actions that are blatantly wrong and if youâre unsure, err on the side of caution. Most of all, we will complete a thorough investigation for situations where it is necessary.

See Will, these are excellent responces to the community that NEED to occur more often.
thanks for the response and perhaps to help level the playing ground for players that do not use 3rd party thingies...they just play and try to earn and enjoy a true thrill of victory.......without any cheats

I found your post to be very satisfactory, however I'm left with a few questions I hope you may want/can awnser. All in all, I understand if you cannot awnser.
What's the difference between benefiting and using the exploit. If I understand it correctly, then you've either used it to get overenchant your skills extremly high, or .. well, you didn't. I don't see how you can make a distinguishment between the two; benefiting and using the exploit.
I hope this cribble of text of mine makes sense to you.
the lvl of oe'ed spoil is used to activate to spoil on mob. A spoil not oe'ed has less chances to be activated than a +30 spoil.
if u prefer to have another example :
i'm a DC, i oe my CoV to +30, u're in my party.
i'm recharger, i have recharge MP to +30, u're a nuker.
Do u better see your benefice in those examples?
I have no idea how the exploit works, but I think NCSOFT did a good job taking that decision because the exploit is in part a fault of the developers because it a bug/glitch that the original writer did not intend. I am sure that if NCSoft would have a way to prove this exploit was done intentionally, they will do a perma ban to those accounts. However, that is not the case.
Let me give you an example: (I am making that up but it serves as a good example)
Lets say your friend tells you "Hey, when enchanting a weapon, go to Aden Church and open your social window and dance 3 times and clap once in front of the priest, and then enchant your weapon. It never fails". So, you do that and managed to get your weapons to glow crazy after using that "bug/exploit". Will you tell anyone about it? Whether was done unintentionally or not, it is a violation of the EULA. You found a bug and took advantage of that. That goes against the EULA, but hey, you didn't know.
The point is, these fellows took advantage of this bug (developers fault) and they were brought up to justice. They can claim they did not know it was bad and they could be right. NCSoft took the best decision for both ends in my opinion. They resetted their skills and I am sure they will be monitored closely for it.
Not defending to anyone. I hate cheaters, but think a bit about the example I provided to you.
Or Open Hex editor being in Aden then 3 x change 0E into 3B ....
Explain me like to complete full, what is difference :
"who used the exploit" and "who benefited from the exploit"
So.... they roll back skills guys who were in party with CoV'er +30?!
Oh yeah I got it, they get back Hero status because one get benefit of someone else OE +30 skill...
Am I correct?
Ouch I think I was in party with SH ............. dammit he might had OE Cast Speed +30 .... my OE +5/+6 skills will gone soon!

Well, you do know that those who used the exploit were also paid to do so right? So it's not only the use of an exploit that is the issue.

No sir, you are totally wrong!!!
If GM have proves you BOT, there is no 7, 100, 1000 days ban. It is a perma ban. Period.
BOT is not EXPLOIT.
If you find out "ways to take advantage of a situation in the game" such as trick oe'ing weapons, skills, is different. Lets say I tell you: Hey, if you kill elpies at midnight they trow 1B adena...but don't tell anyone... and you try and turned to be true ....that is an exploit!!!
See the difference there ?
Developers did not think all that exploit could exist or at least did not contemplate that aspect in the game.

get real they should been banned for good take look at this i wasnt use a 3rdparty program but fiaild there test cus log out to restart l2 cus thought it was a bug so they banned my acount and not answering the tickets yet been over 24hours and they just get 7 day ? what wrong here ? you dont do anything wrong not use any programs and get banned for logging out on there test that didnt even know whats taking place cus thought it was a bug. you get prema banned???
Guys. They found people using exploit. They spent time investigating and working out whatever was deemed fair and appropriate punishment for different people depending on factors and information you do not have.
In short, they did their job and as fair and balanced for everyone as they could.
And even posted officially here with more information. How much would people be complaining about heroes with exploit skills if nothing was done..? Appreciate when they do things decently enough please. What else to discuss lol..? New thread please.
Did you read the original thread?
We are talking about "software exploit/bug" within Lineage 2. Mechanics of the game that were not contemplated by the developers and users took advantage of that.

im sure they used some sort of software to meet there goals you dont stumble on a bug in game and like oh hi +30 skills bro!
Now, now Artie, if you're going to pretend you don't know who I am then you know that's just going to confirm who you are not......
And you are right, I am currently level 59.
Have you ever figured out an answer to the questions I asked that had you run away from the Lionna boards?
I feel like I've been waiting forever!
Lol...
One thing is for sure--of all the people who have ever played this game, you are absolutely on the list of those who shouldn't be commenting on these particular posts!! :)
I would prefer they were perma banned, but the idea of been watched is a constant fear up on their heads and anyone on their server who's ''dirty''.If only all those actions were made 2 years ago, when so many players start to quit cause they were weak against the ''smart faces'' with +25 skills and +++++++++to all.
I would suggest gms make more watch lists, for people with insane armors/weapons/lvls/s80 alts.Since we all know they never could make them without cheating.

I feel like I've been waiting forever!
Lol...
One thing is for sure--of all the people who have ever played this game, you are absolutely on the list of those who shouldn't be commenting on these particular posts!! :)
im pretty sure your a stalker
and im know how things work around here go lvl up and then get back to me!
How could anybody wish a perma ban apon another player?
I beleive the GM's acted very fairly and i hope to see more fair actions like this in the future. Much respect to GM Will for showing good spirit and customer relations.

they are not "players".
I am a player. Those getting perma banned are cheaters who, by definition, are unable to play the game.
Who cares what happens to them, as long as they're gone.

1/10
Sorry, but you could have scored more points if the following would have happened:
1 - longer post
2 - a few mis spelling
3 - not making the post so "can I have a hug" feel.
