I am on the Aria server and live on the West Coast, I was just wondering if there was anyone in my timezone that would like to roleplay. I generally do roleplays with Dark Elf characters etc. PM me if you are interested.
sorry for a late reply, but your message came through at 3 and 5 am here on the east coast. yes, some people role play... and Aria used to be the best server for it. you should look for an rp clan if you want to gain friends in the rp world.
i don't know what aria server population looks like now, but it shouldn't affect rp as much as it might affect pvp dynamics.
on a side note, how about you write out your back story here, and we will see if any rp clans are even interested in having your sorry pointy ear skinny dark elf in their rp clans.
most of us don't like dark elves, they're untrustworthy.

Imodel....?? You don't know any RPers on Aria? Really? I would have thought you could name 20-30 on just about any Tuesday....unless I'm thinking of the wrong player in-game.

I go to the Wishing Well each Tuesday to tell my stories yes.
you should know the only "dedicated" roleply clan left in L2 is EchoesOfDarkness.
there are other casual RP clans (some on phoenix) and rp-friendly clans but none that i know of other than echoes who actively bypass pve and pvp in order to make in-character dialogues.

PM Jkoster or DrakkosIV for info to join.
Thank you, I'm more for a bit more one on one casual rp outside of the game. Don't get me wrong it's fun in game but I usually use that time to do quests or xp.
LARP...
is excellent adventure time for all.
i have myself partaken in a few LARP sessions...
usually scripted to some extent, but some times completely random.
also...
some times involving swords where other times guns, or no weapons or violence.
... you mean stand around at the raid, and speak in white chat, pretending to be the raid boss? or like that epic quest event where Anakim is pming you...
man, that was trippy.

No, someone who would be willing to do private, OFF GAME roleplay chats on MSN or Yahoo, and they could be able to play Lilith.
Don't Lilith and Anakim have a shouting match while she's pming you? I don't know, I haven't gotten high enough to do that quest.
You never answered Snookums...BTW i need vesper stuff...i would be sooooooooooooooooo gratefull ;)
Yeah well you aren't getting it from me, I'm broke on main and all alts like almost all the time. Please no Wizard Hats...
What profit do you gain from role plaing in L2 ?
Question comes from small dwarfie :P
Hmm fun?
Something above boring grind and full of cheats PvP?
Is it not what is game about? Fun?
P.S. hard to say that we do in clan RolePlay, but we keep many elements of RP.
Continuously we keep, cold war between DE/LE, same apply Orc vs Humans ( our CL claim they taste good )
Other aspects, we do some events in clan to keep basics of RP :D
Ofc while 90 % of time in game we spend on grind so RP is limited .. but still we try to not forget that fun is important.

The enjoyment of character development, of adding your own stories to the canon lore of the game. For some, it can be as simple as seeing in-character goals met (an orc leading a small band of orcs to raid the human lands, for instance). For others, it can be as complicated as religious and socio-economic politics (a dark elf Abyssal Celebrant spreading the teachings of Shilen and undermining the church of Einhasad).
You get what you put into it. If you simply think it is a joke, then you get nothing. If you put effort into role-play, you are rewarded with entertainment and persistent, lasting memories.

I like your picture of the human with the Santa hat Sa1en. Very cute. I don't like constant grinding, I like to play around as well, it takes away from the tediousness of trying to get high enough to do certain quests and trying to save enough money for crafting and/or buying gear.

I answered this in some detail on our clan website and just don't have the energy to repost the whole thing and add another text wall.
Suffice it to say that RP can do a couple of things. It can give you a break from grinding obviously. It can put you in fun situations to spend time with friends in-game, learn more about them, and build close gaming relationships---basically make game friendships deeper. It can teach you about the lore in the game as well. It's a pretty good format for meeting new people in the game and perhaps making new friends.
Are those "big" and important things? Not to most. Most players simply want to level so they can PvP.
But as I listed, for some players, RP can add some good things to the game.

Well RP story on my experiment came with Sardaukar and Nobilis clans.
In Lionna server story there were role playing clans.
I was CL/AL of one of it.
For us, RP was not just a way to play but a true everyday (yes, yes, even on grind) full time experiment.
Characters sheets were posted on our forum... Personnal stories of some were posted on the boards too (and are still posted now on private place, even if we leaved DL and DK behind us)
We had clan scenarii with out of game / in game events
(later came stories involving full alliance)
i can remember a story between Sardaukars and Dragon Keepers (as Sardaukar CL was playing a Dark Elf and I am playing a Light Elf who was claiming Shilen is true mother of all the elves) that started on our boards ....
With clan, each second class completion came with a special Dragon Keeper testimony.
I made the hatchling quest several times to give each clan member the Dragon Keeper Knight title and the "growing a dragon" responsability.
With the alliance, we were used too to plan wedding ceremonies in some crazy places like angel waterfalls, ivory tower, Eva's temple in heine...
I had maccros in Elvish or Drow to claim Dragon Keepers alliance was created to protect Antharas and Valakas (as they are sons of Shilen)
I think reducing L2 as a grind cooperative PVP game is missing a very interesting part and possibilities of the game.
I truly think role play, pvp and grind can be combinated and reducing RPers as "carebears" is
:D that's why i'm still in wait of a full RP server ...
@ Imodel : eah time you're in mood to role play just PM me ;)
an RP pvp server?
that would rock out... although it would be hard to limit peoples leveling to a point of equality... because as you know it's easy to get caught up in the grind
You sort of either have to go one of two ways in fostering Roleplaying--either you're "always RP" or you have an open forum where "however you RP is good".
Although very rich and full all the time, the "always RP" not only feels a little intense (and sometimes forced) it is also ****ed hard to do.
In our game RP is done in chat. I've always found it very hard to keep up, stay on top of the moment, and manage buffs, summons, maneuver, targeting, and picking up drops during PvE.
For me personally I'd rather not RP when I'm hunting.
That being said, the actual Hammerstrike clan (dwarves) seige of Heine was basically non-stop and lighthearted RP and probably the hardest I've ever laughed while seiging!!!!
In the "whatever anyone does is okay" format there is often a bit less structure and you tend to see more diverse levels, degrees, and styles.
In our group there are those who are always in-character, those only in-character at times, and we've even had people who loved (and excelled) at forum RP. Some formal, some sort of goofy, some edgy, some incredibly complex weaving others into their theme.
I've been most exposed to the more "open" format and am most comfortable with some leeway.
I guess the point is that roleplaying can come in a lot of forms and even be part-time or forum based (relatively outside of the game but based on it).
I've known (and currently know) a couple of RPers who have a knowledge of our game's lore that is astounding. I've played with RPers incredibly quick in interacting real time. Others extremely formal and so on.
I've also known RPers who would quit the clan cause we gained a couple war tags--AND Rpers who would port across the map to pick a fight with top players they had no hope of beating.
Rpers who raid (not in Role play mode), who seiged regularly, who are always in TW, who will kill everyone to defend a hunting spot or clanmate. And RPers who just couldn't handle that another player killed them once.
RP can be many things, in many forms, and appeal to all types of regular players. There is room at that table for just about everyone.

To be honest thats my experience....the girls i've hooked up on L2 with all wanted hot chat.
Well at least they acted like girls but i knew that some were men...sick puppies but the world is full of them.
Not really>.> What was happening was that it was two people playing the account. Took a while for me to figure it out. One day the person was so sweet the next day it was like a different person..then i figured it out.
I haven't had much experience with wierdos on the internet.

I know of a wierdo Dwarf that hangs around HV. She wears Rabbit ears. Who do you think that could be ?? O.O >.> ;)
Finding role-players in a PVP-centric game has never been easy, but finding specific qualities is even harder.
And, to piggy-back on this thread, since a lot of interest was shown toward RP after the first page, I would like to invite anyone and everyone that has an interest to visit www.l2rpa.org now that we're back online.
