Starting March 17, 2010, at 10am (PDT), the Subclass Separation Account Service will be available for all eligible characters. This service allows a player to remove a subclass from a character and create a brand new character! The new character uses the subclass as it's main class, and the best part is the new character will be the same level as the subclass was on the previous character.
For example: we have "Alex," a level 79 Sagittarius, with a 40 Warcryer subclass, and a 80 Spectral Dancer subclass. If he wants to separate the 80SD subclass, he can use this service. He'll make a level 1 character and call it, say, "Carrie." After the service is completed, he will log in to find:
The race of the placeholder is mostly unimportant, as it will be overwritten by the nature of the subclass being applied to it. However the placeholder cannot be Kamael. The gender of the placeholder is not important, as the separated subclass character will maintain the gender of the original character. (In this example's case, if Alex is male, Carrie will be male as well.)
A question.
For example: I have an warlock subclass on my Dark Elf. I creating a dwarf lvl. 1. Can I make a warlock on dwarf? Or subclass must be put on right race (human) or it will be Warlock on Dark Elf? O.o??
In order to use this service, your desired character must be level 75 or higher. There is no subclass level requirement for this service.
A level 1 placeholder character must be created. The name of the level 1 placeholder character will remain as the new character name once the subclass has been separated.
All aesthetic features of the newly created character will be set to option A after the service has been applied. (Face type, hair type, hair color.)
The Kamael race is not eligible for Subclass Separation, as all Kamael subclasses are restricted to be subclass only.

The lvl 1 toon is just a name placeholder. The class of the lvl 1 doesnt matter. Its the same as the other service where you have a lvl 1 as a name placeholder.
I do have a few questions also:
1) I assume all original quests and quest items will still be on the original toon?
2) All one time quests can be done on the new toon? (I'm thinking about the epic 7 quests). I did the 7 quest on my STS main then changed my main class to HE with STS as a subclass. If I now separate my STS to a new toon, can I do the epic 7 quest on that STS toon again, or the HE toon, or both or neither?
3) How about noble status? The separated class will have no subs so it will not be noble until TW gets done or a subclass is raised to 75?

I am very happy this service is finally available but i do have the same questions as Ashleigh, pleace Sace clarify as i think many people will have the same questions.
but i have a question about skills learned from subclasses.
i'm FS, sub titan. I learned some skills from titan subclass on my FS. If i decide to separate titan and FS, what happens to the skills learned from titan subclass?
MAYBE if the new toon was on a new account... but no....
+1!! This service seems useless unless the toon can be placed on a new account. I also would like a list of the people that actually do it, I have some hot investment info with some penny stocks I want them to invest in :P
Your prices for those things are way high... I know you don't want people to be changing everything as often as possible from a community POV, but from a business POV that makes big $$$$. You're pricing yourselves right out of a market.
Will the New chr you make out subclass will be nobless or not? if it does not keep nobless and cant make subs it will sux
Its a regular toon so I'm sure you can make subclasses...but I was wondering also if the toon will be non noble or noble if it splits from a noble toon.
I think Sace answered the other questions I had....nice to be able to do all the 1 time quests again (SSQ ++30% :) )
Noblesse does not transfer because you must have a subclass to achieve Noblesse. Your new character will start off with only that 1 class that you separated from the original character. Then, just like with any single-class character, you must complete the subclass quest to be able to have subclasses, and then get one of that character's subclasses to 75 to achieve Noblesse.

If its just a none nobless chr it will sux because it takes time to make it nobless even with TW its more then 1 month.
so it works only for the same account right? but why would i waste $50 if its easier for me to lvl up new character from scratch then pay $50 for this service or it will be able to shift lets say lvl 80 BD to different account? can't get it....isnt it why we had to make subclassses to make our main guy stronger? can someone explain why do we need this service?

Coz many people have subs which dont make their main as strong as possible and dont want to delete them.
For example on my mm on of my subs is a 80 necro, i dont want to delete it and its not the best sub for mm.
Once the service goes through it will be 81 the same day and 2 weeks more to make a sub 75 and i have a nice brand new char :)
I ask this cause if you dont lose the subclass skills then you can make your main an RB !!! you make three subclass 75 lvl ..so you take 9 skills....then you take the separation service three times ... so you have free subclass slots...you make 3 more subclass,,,so more 9 skills ,,,,so 18 skills :P if you continue this you will have something like 50 skills :P ( with a lot euros ) :P

or do TW noble, which is noblesse+subclass quest in one package :)

When you delete a subclass and level up a new one, you will net get certificate
I guess it's the same ^^
Yup, the game knows that you already got a skill from subclass nr. x, so you wont get a new one (unless you delete all subclass skills for 10m). Rerolling a subclass or making one into a separate main does not actually REMOVE that subclass, it just resets the lvl of that sub to 40 and resets the class to "please choose a new one". But it is still the same subclass slot nr. 1, 2 or 3 which already has used up its subclass skill certificate.
but i have a question about skills learned from subclasses.
i'm FS, sub titan. I learned some skills from titan subclass on my FS. If i decide to separate titan and FS, what happens to the skills learned from titan subclass?
They do not want to know if the NEW toon created by this service has any subclass skills transferred over (why should it anyway, it was just a sub in the first place and had no subclass skills), they want to know if the ORIGINAL toon will still have the subclass skill on his main class which was provided by the subclass which is split off.
For what it's worth, my guess is "yes" (same as rerolling a sub - the new sub then does not provide any new certificate books, and the skills on the main class are just learned by using the books and not influenced in any way by what you do to the subclass afterwards), but an official answer would of course be nice. It could after all be that the account service FORCES a complete reset of ALL subclass skills, like the sub to main service does.
We are making a list of further questions that we will test and answer you with once available, and update the web pages. That question will be included.
If you have a Bladedancer subclass, and you create a level 1 dwarf as a placeholder, after the service takes effect you will have a Dark Elf.
Dwarves transforming into DE's...., theirs a scary thought o.o
*cough* b**bs *cough*
I'm working on adding these details to the account services page. In the meantime, here are a few answers to your questions:
Quests.<o></o>
All items in main class will stay with the original character.<o></o>
All Subclass Certification Skills and certificates.<o></o>
Sace,
what about passive skills you have on your subclasses,
will they transfer too? (inv/wh expansion and such (which should have been the same as main from the start tbh))
This might be an odd request but are there any plans to have the opposite, a Subclass "intergration" service instead? I, for one, would like to be able to merge some of my characters together...
+1. Service is uselss unless you can move the sub to a new account. If you cant play the split sub and the main together, then you would logically change your sub to your main to play the more desired class. Having to change toons on the same account is really no different than changing to sub on main tbh, this adds zero value.

Not really true, it just depends on the situation. If your main is a dwarf or OL, then you can't use the sub -----> main service, so this is great for those ppl. For everyone else I can see your point.
Sace,

All of the regular skills will stay on both characters. Only the Certification Skills and items are removed.

No, Noblesse status will be removed from the subclass, but will remain on the original character.
In my honest opinion Sace you should be made NCNA Community Director so that we can all have little spawns of you running around on all the NCNA Official Game Forums...just imho and thats saying alot if you get a complement from me it doesn't happen often.
Cant say i understand the thinking behind this, im perhaps missing something obvious >< If ur an ol dorf or 85/85 woot something else to do, what am i not seeing that makes this awesome for ur average toon, all i can see is 2 lots of vit ?
It's better than a kick in the teeth. If you look back up the page you can already see what the point in it is; people have un-wanted subs which they don't want to delete -- think of the hard work they've put into them. Now they can save them for a rainy day and have an new immediate $50 character, the legit way.
well... the good news is once you hit 75 and noble, you can automatically skip the first 40 levels and quests for any new character you want to make... and it will only cost a measly $50 bucks... which is = to about 250,000,000 Adena...
no acadamy points though, sorry. or... can you join acadamy on level 1 place holder... ooh...
I just saw the updated main page and have to say lol, if sub-class certification skills are deleted on the main toon there is almost no one who will use this worthless service.
And I have to say whoever setup this guidelines doesn't really under the game:
Non-noble because you have to have a sub to be noble--TW can make you noble with out sub (not huge but still dumb).
Delete sub class skills on main toon--most any end game player would not find that acceptable.
Exclude OL and WS becuase their main class cannot be subclassed--huh, what does this have to do with moving one of their subs to become a seperate toon?.
It is not clear at all, because this question is not answered for the subclass separation service on that page, only for the sub to main service. Same for the WS/OL thing you mentioned, it is only for the sub to main service, not the subclass separation service. I guess you got confused there :)
The question which really needs to be answered from NCSoft side is:
If I separate a subclass and make it into a separate character (thereby effectively "resetting" that subclass slot on the original character, i.e. you could go to any grandmaster, choose "add a sub" and create a new lvl 40 subclass in that specific slot), do the subclass certificate skills you have on the original main character from that separated subclass get deleted or not?
E.g. I have a 1st sub lvl 80 healer and a 2nd sub lvl 78 nuker. On my main, I have the 3 certificates from the healer, the transformation from the healer and the 3 certificates from the nuker. I choose this new service and separate the healer into a new character.
Are now all the subclass skills "reset" (and I have to go to the npc again to get the certificates, which in this case would mean I only get 3 certificates from the nuker sub) or are the skills still there (so that while I can add a new lvl 40 sub in the 1st subclass slot to replace the healer, I simply would not get any new certificates when I lvl that new sub up to 80)?
From how I understand the subclass certificates, it is technically not possible for the game to know which subclass emergent/master ability comes from which sub (the books stack in your inventory), so it is not possible to delete just those skills which come from the subclass you separate. It's either "all gets reset" or the skills simply stay.
Right now, if you simply reset a subclass (i.e. go to a grandmaster and change your existing lvl 65 nuker sub into a lvl 40 dagger sub), the subclass certificate skills on your main do NOT get deleted, but once you lvl up that new subclass to 65, 70, 75, 80 you simply do not get any NEW certificates.
It would not be any advantage if the skills from the separated sub would stay on the old main, it would technically be exactly the same as deleting a sub and starting a new one.

I did missunderstand that that statement was specifically for sub to main however, on the subclass seperation page it says:
All Subclass Certification items and skills will be deleted on both characters
Which does imply that the subclass skill deletion info is correct, I'm probably wrong on the OL/WS though since that wasn't on the sub class seperation page.
If all my subclass skills should be deleted I'm really messed up.
I got "Warrior: Haste" on my Warlock sub from the Event back in the day. I don't want to lose it!
I ordered the service right when you announced it and you came up with the certification restrictions days later ... so yea ... you really messed my plans up! :(
I think it's only a problem for players who got their subclass skills from that old event so most likely from a class that usually doesn't offer that skill. Please consider that!
Excuse me
but that's not true annymore
u do NOT need a subclass to achieve noblesse annymore
since u can achieve it by territory wars
somthings fishy
and yes u'r prices are too high
and sorry
i dont want to seperate my sub
i want to get wrid of my MAIN class
and keep my subs
Yes you're right, you don't need a subclass to get Noblesse status now that TW allows it. However our tests did show that Noblesse status does not transfer to the newly separated character. We will have an answer about the multiple subclasses' remaining skills on Monday.
amazed that these ideas are implemented pre testing :-S dyou all just come up with an idea tell us about it n figure out the details after ?
did think of another reason it might be beneficial - if u were thinking to move servers u can only take one lot of gear - if u split sub from main u could take two sets.
These services were actually tested , but only in korea
NC america just gets the packet thrown at them wiht a note written on
it : do it urself to adapt to american / european standards...
america and europe really arent big enough for the koreans to even
bother to adapt their program to us...
Koreans have like over 20 million players
how manny have we got european and american all toghter ?
500-700 thousand ? if lucky...
But i still dont know why there is so few publicity arround these games
they really could get all gamers to come here on L2 and Aion
u need a LOT of custommers to get a good helpdesk
the helpdesk is the one section of a company that's PURE LOSS...
They dont make anny monney on helping you, they LOSE monney on helping you!
That's why most helpdesks are so py, with underpayed employees
who get tired of getting yelled at all day
No one ever calls or writes for good stuff, its only complaining they get.
Been ther so i understand fully, worked 3 years as helpdeks agent in a bank...
but never the less, they could provide better adaptations to european
and american standards IF they got more custommers
3 advices:
PUBLICITY
PuBlIcItY
pUbLiCiTy
work on that , work on MORE custommers
the rest will follow the renewed cash flow
More monney = always better services
TV commercials, radio infomericals , magazine full page(s) articles
more appearances on public entertainment organizations like E3
u were like invisible on E3...
more appearances in Europe too
don't think there's not enough gamers in Europe
all tohgeter Europe could be a bigger custommer then Korea
just compare potion
and in these bad times of crisis, people stay home more
so they game more
Further testing has confirmed that when using the Subclass Separation Account Service, all subclass certification skills are removed from both characters, regardless of the number of subclasses the originating character had.
However, you can return to the NPC to reacquire all of those skills.
If you lose a skill that you picked up during the Choose Your Destiny event we ran after the Hellbound update, please contact customer support so they can assist you with this specific skill. They will be confirming the skill you originally had and providing it to the originating main class character.

Does this only apply to the subclass separation service, or also to the other account services which reset subclass skills? I had two nice subclass skills from the event, but lost them when I did sub to main due to the skill reset.

That's a question you'd have to petition to customer support to have answered, and I think it's worth asking.
If someone does this, I am guessing that the new toon will be only the subclass? no noble? Will have to do subclass Quests again?...
Yes, just that one class, no subclass, no noble. Just do noble via territory war, then you automatically also get subclass unlocked without having to do any quests.
P.S. is subclass level cap really being raised to 85 next update??
There is no information yet when they will raise the subclass max level. All we heard so far is that the devs in Korea are "thinking about it". The Freya update which went live in Korea and which we will get in a couple months still has the same max lvl of 80 for subclasses.
Imo the name of the new toon should be the same as the old 1 since its on the same account anyway.
As it it now its just a good way to lose track of scammers and bots :/

theres no where in the account services it exspains the race will be the transfering subclass might want to put in a word just gender i read it twice.
thxs for the info
The answer is actually available on the account services page.
quote from subclass seperation page:
â¢The gender of the newly separated subclass will remain consistent with the original character. The level 1 placeholder character will have no bearing on gender.
â¢You may not separate more than 1 subclass from the same character per week.
Please read the Lineage II Account Services FAQ for more details on what happens when you separate your Subclass
Do like it suggests and scroll to the bottom and you will see they already supplied the answer.o
QUESTION
When I separate a subclass from one character, and apply it to the placeholder character, what happens to the placeholder's name/race/face/gender?
ANSWER
The name will stay the same. The face, hair and hair color will be set to option A. The gender of the placeholder character will be the same as that of the original character. The race of the placeholder character will change to match the nature of the subclass being applied to it.
For example, you have a Human female Hawkeye with an Elven Elder subclass, and you create a placeholder character that is a male dwarf. Applying the Elven Elder subclass to this new character will turn it into a female Elf with Elven Elder as its main class. Placeholder characters may not be Kamael.
