I'm quite interested in this as it appears that people will be able to dual up under any circumstance.
meaning those with dual weapons already will be even more heavily dependant on their skills, which will mean that the BD is going to need about 15+ skills added to their skill list to make that at all remotely capable of being a class they are stated to be in the discription.
Still find it funny how the BD has 1 Malee skill, ONE. Wonder how well the gladiator would do if they were left with just power strike.
I think thats not the point. Glads and Bds will not really be affected by this, in other hand, destros, dorfs, sws can take a good advantage.
But what effect this will have on skills? Damage will be splited like dual swords? can you have 2 types of SA (omg sws with focus and haste would be sooo cool, dorfs with helth+risk skills)?

To say those that are already "dual" specific classes will not be effected is a bit of a joke. Those classes REQUIRE the use of duals to use their skills, otherwise they are useless, and the BD will be an even bigger joke. It's already gotten to the point that i'm seeing the BD's used as boxed toons simply because of the lack of skills and relatively lower power they have patk wise as DD's. (it's sad when a BD with super charged tatoos specifically for the best possible malee dmg possible, souped up gear, better duals is out damaged by a gladiator with stock tats and lower grade duals without using skills. gaud forbid if he/she uses skill)
It's inspecific but it was mentioned at one point that Provided you have ONE of the weapons needed for a skill, you can use that skill with that weapon.
Example being able to equip a blunt and a sword, use a sword skill and use a blunt skill.
Essentially doubling up the number of skills you have access to at any given time without constantly swapping back and forth.
IT also appears that you'll be able to use both weapons (obviously) for normal damage and gain the benefits of BOTH SA's, however you'll be hit with a patk speed penalty. This is not surprising, equip a dagger + blunt = normal atk speed instead of fast?
Either way, provided with 2 equipable weapons, while Gladiators already have an insane plethora of various short and long range skills that are not only very powerful, but extremely rapid, the bd still gets the shaft in the end due to not having ANY skills at all to begin with aside from very weak and slow casting magic skills, and VERY weak AOE being poison blade dance and demonic blade dance (the later of which is not enchantable which makes it even more useless)
If the patk of these weapons WHEN combined actually increase the overall damage while being "slower" atk speed, which will mean a relatively similare style to that of using Duals WHILE maintaining weapon masteries (AKA, use the weapons dualed up that you have masteriest for) they will have the potential to be very close to being on par with the dual users.
Maybe could make it so a BD and Gladiator can use two duals at same time? Just tie two swords together to form a long double-tipped sword with handle in the middle, then use one on each hand :P
the easy concept of being able to equip more then 1 single handed weapon is one thing i always found strange in this game....
if i have two hands, and 2 single handed weapons, why couldn't i use both?
Also why can i not equip a single handed weapon in the other hand and shield in the right hand?
Why were "duals" really necessarily made in the first place, couldn't they have more easily designed a skill requirement to have 2 single handed swords to be equiped?
The more you look into it the more it just seems like lazy developers
Yepp, the need to have two singlehanded swords equipped instead of a dualed sword would in my opinion make much more sense.
The duals are still two swords, and there is not really anything that is actually holding the two of them together, so the whole concept of duals is in that way kinda flawed in my opinion. Let gladys and BD's use two onehanded swords would be the right way to go ^^
Also by name, a Gladiator is someone that fights with many different kinds of weapons, not just two swords :p
Then we have the stupidity of Bladedancer versus Swordsinger, Bladedancer can't do dances without duals, but a Swordsinger can sing with a bow, a blunt, a dagger and so on, has NO requirement for a Sword as the name would suggest.
Either way, I hope they realize that Gladiators and BD's should be able to use two onehanded swords for their skills when most other classes will be able to use two different weapons at the same time.
(only other classes I see that might not be able to use two weapons of their own class are Archers and Tyrants, but then again, could always make One-hand fists so could mix two different onehanded firsts for the Tyrant at least, then maybe two smaller crossbows for archers? ^^)
No matter how you see it, someone will always complain that others get too strong and some gets too weak etc etc yadayadayada blablabla... :p
My two cents (or as here in sweden, that would be två öre) xD

How should they have solved SA's in dual swords, if it wasnt two swords permanentlyl put together then? How would you overenchant them?
I think they actually did think about it.
I do however not think they ever meant the BD to be a killer toon, or they would have given him killer skills. It's a support class.
And no, I dont care how much a bd with a bow hits for.

True it's a support class, for fighting, but it's still referred to as a DD as well even if it's one of the weakest DD's there is.
Problem is that it's barely a support class as beyond Dances which are only a huge help for stacking buffs, beside that, it's pretty much impossible to stand remotely toe to toe with anyone. When BD's are easily beaten by just about every conceiveable class out there, even the weak SE's, it's quite sad.
BD's don't have a amazing patk, don't have that great of pdef, don't have great mdef, the matk is pitiful for any form of their "ranged" skills that cast to slow to be any use and have a land rate that is in the sub single digit percentages EVEN with a relatively high "chance" enchant on them. BDs are easily debuffed, and frankly the only time i ever see a bd manage to win a kill is when they've got some very high enchanted duals + jewels + additional element vs that class they are fighting.
Out of curiousity i spent a better part of a day seeing what my medusa land rate was like, it landed twice, one the same toon, and failed countless times on that same toon. That's not included the fails that occured with the surround people, and some of them aren't even buffed to the nines.
I'm not saying that the BD's are the ONLY class that has been relatively useless, without a skill since well essentially c3 or before (i'm sure "sting" was finaly thought up in c3 as i don't recall having it prior) And while the SwS hasn't gotten any skills either, they are fair better at the pvp, WAY better, considering i play both classes there really is no comparison, even decked out in pure PVE, super low con, get up, they sitll have close to twice the hp/cp and noticeably more pdef with identical gear, they are for a fact able to take a bd down with relative ease without having to use any skills. Throw in that shield mastery, slap a dagger on them, and they are simply insane DD's that keep the advantages of being a tank.

Anything saying that you'd have to have only one SA with two swords?
Not in my opinion at least.
And BD is party assisting FIGHTER, not just support :p

dual blade darth mauls I LOVE IT!!!!!
BD will be able to equip two sets of duals, one for arms, one for legs. They will run about somewhat like a spider, with swords as leg extensions, lunge at enemies, and generally be nasty.

I disagree. Most high lvl BDs have Medusa oe'd and it lands quite nicely. The BD petrifies you, takes out a pvp'd dagger and cancels all your buffs while you are medusa'd. Then you have a 1v1 but you have zero buffs. When you come out of medusa the bd uses sting which slows you so you can't run away. They also have ?freezing strike to slow you if sting doesn't land. Again they are not designed as DD but they can kill other classes.

Freezing strike slows, not sting.
Only Bleed has slow built in, and thats a dagger skill, not a dark elf fighter skill.

no no no, they will use it like in StarWars.... handle to handle :P and swing it with blades on opposite sides <:-)

this.... is not a normal case at all... those are mostly and only Oly related circumstances.. and it still requires one to go well outside the range of a BD's capabilities to even manage that.
That's also very high lvl.
Frankly like i mention previously in this thread, medusa landing is a joke, getting it OE beyond that of 3 or 4 is quite difficult, and at those enchants, it still rarely EVER lands vs players 80 and above. Top it off, it has a relatively low land rate even on people between 76 and 80 as well.
Yes yes, use what you got/can, true, but still if medusa doesn't land, you -_-ed, and using freezing strike is a choke as it never seem to land even with huge enchants on it, and hex is i think about a 30% with a good number of enchants, sting is also extremely low..
and we still can't catch or touch another class... Even with a healer healing, quite often BDs end up dieing anyways to many classes.
