I have a clannie's hacked gear being sold in Giran and no GM is responding to me, sure two days later after its gone and sold they will give him common gear but they could stop it all right not and fix the problem and ban the hackers and give him his gear back.
I like NCSOft's stance once it sold they can't do anything because it would interfere with game play. worst ever. I've known quite a few people who've quit because NCsoft replaced full epics and high end gear with common items.
As i had few expierience in such case i can say few words.....
Theres no particual way they will give u back all items......
They dont care about it if u were hacked if u had keylogger or u shared account.....
Be happy to have your toon and play it as it is.....have fun with your common gear !
Well i bought all the gear they are standing up still spaming to sell the stolen gear IE using a bot program to sell the gear this is just such an awesome game.
they finally responded to me after an hour asking me to tell my friend to send in a support ticket and give me one of those automatic responses. HGM Will I would like the GM who handled this petition to be fired for inaction of a bad user who stole from someone's account and was openingly using a automated program in Giran to sell the stole gear... Thanks again for nothing.
Saga continues the GM finally doesn't give me an automated response just to tell me he cannot speak to me in live chat because it is not allowed?
Since when? I have many times spoken to a live gm when something was time senstive like when I couldn't rez my pet back when they only stayed dead an hour. Or when my clan hall bid got deleted with 4 hours left before the end of auction. Or at a castle siege when the npcs turned invisible (The gms even showed up in person)

Two different things.
I will say sometimes they don't get as involved as they should or could... But often times they're held back because their account shows a history of sharing (logging in from multiple IP's from many different locations), etc etc.

My friend got hacked few days ago and NcSoft said that hackers account is already suspended, also they gave him back all his gear except what hacker managed to sell. And -belive or not- for the things that hacker sold, they gave adena equivalent taken from hacker's account. The other friend (probably hacked by the same person) got only his char back though and not gear.
BTW, what's with the recent wave of stolen accounts? Just in my clan 4 people got accounts hacked in one day, probably by the same person. Gossip says that there was a trojan spreading through one poplar forum 0.0
btw the only answer i have got is through an in game pettiton and gm say:
"we investigate your issue and we had seen that your reported +3 dyn leather set was traded to another person and your +3 angel slayer crit dmg pvp was destroied"
that was the first day.After that i see my items selling in giran in shops,and now i guess all gone.
my questions:
1)i know it take time and they have lot of work to do,but if they "block" the person account where the reported items traded to,wasnt be easier to investigate the issue and not loose all my items?
2)the support team can also advise on future computer security
no answer in this subject also yet which is most serrious for me than my account and my items.

To the support team:i suggest a future possible sollution in such as situations:
"when someone is reporting a stolen item,u should "delete/suspend" the reporting items in order to avoid soled/destroy/crystalize them,and u will have all the time then to work in what happen and find who or what rly happen"

Here is the problem I have with people claiming they were "hacked"
1 - is your in game password: 12345, or "password", etc... I'm sorry but then you kinda deserve it. You should always use complicated passwords.
2 - Do you account share, do other people have your account info? Again, then you are just asking for problems - a number of years ago there was a husband/wife that were going though a bad divorce, well the wife, stripped all of his accounts, made them perma red, and put them in the middle of the ocean....
3 - As some have said "a keylogger/virus got on to my machine" but NC should fix this. Wrong, not NCs fault that you do not know how to protect your computer.
4 - Only the account holder can talk to NC soft - so sorry SlyCutter, they will not talk to you about it, for all they know you are the one that hacked the account. So for you to demand that the GM be fired because the GM told you exactly what to do - well that is EPIC FAIL on your part.

Just imagine - if your bank account gets scammed due to any kind of accident (even due to your own fault) and you have to wait 3 days for someone to pay some attention to you - would you step back to this bank ever?
5. Finally after 7-10 days 60% of my items were returned - for the other 40% I got smiles from GMs and some common items. All my money gone too.... When I asked GMs - why I dont get back everything, as it was well known in which possession were my items, they answered - they cannot interfere into ingame economy.
If I get back to the above-mentioned example with bank account scamming - can some of you imagine to receive an answer from your banker that the money from you bank account were gone cause the scammer transferred them to other account and your bank cannot interfere in world economy? Of course such things cannot happen in real life as there is some competition between companies and no one will keep idiots in his support team.
Finally if you want you game account not to be scammed, follow my advise:
1. Never put real email in clan forum or never give your email to people that ask you ingame for msn/skype to tell you something privately.
2. Never save your master password on your PC.
3. Use good virus protection software.

Yeah I got the e-mail where it was written to give some info few months ago, but ofcourse i didn't
GM's can't do nothing about that, but they should react faster when something like that occurs, not just spam announcements every 10minutes in chat

It is each player's responsibility to sauard their acct info and their pc. We say in 99% of the cases it is the user's fault but reality is it's 100%. The user either shared his acct info, used common passwords, used the same password for multiple locations, was careless with emails, etc.
It must be a time consuming process to go through an account, determine when it was scammed, trace down all the items taken and where they went, make a determination as to which items can be recovered easily, return to the user, etc. We pay around $10/month to play L2. Some of that $$ goes to the reseller. NC Soft GMs probably don't make the big bucks, but it's not reasonable for the company to lose several months of income because from a customer because he was negligent with his acct info or handling of emails/viruses.

I have been receiving same emails, when i decided to took some action i found the ip adress was in fact logged in my webpage, after i ban the ip i start to get anoyng emails, provocating ones and it was clair from the two factions they did come from, too bad theres is no way to go further in, it was being placed through a greek proxy.
About security there is many ways to try sadly NC but many other companies never build a secure interface so you know if you linking to the origianal place, its easy to do, and who doesnt know how to theres undreds of videos on youtube and pages explaining, in fact even the bridge used on this forum i never been confident about it, that is the reason i use this nickname, i never have logged again with my main account.
If anyone receive a note from Nc ignore the mail, log directly on your user account and any mail links, even if you are 100% the email is real, the best safe way is go directly where u need without links, also be carefull with some pvp videos, i found 2 one lot so long ago with a exploit placed, and there is a lot of ppl with outdated anti virus or sutch protection tools.
Im sure that many of the hacks is the users own fault, but I dont sure like that one has to use the real username and password to logg in to this forum for example.

Steeling someones email account means nothing except that someone stole someones email account. Someone using there logins for L2 as the same for an external forum is complete stupidity.

I was talking to some friends last night trying to get them to come to LII and they all refused saying they won't play NCS games. I didn't have to ask why because I know why. Customer service sucks. Sly knows what happened to me but for the rest of you I was hacked while not even playing the game for over 6 months. I didn't click any links connected to the game and have never shared my acct info. When checking to see how they got in to an inactive acct I saw that when NCS did the promo back in November to reactivate inactive accts since my billing info was still there my account was monetarily reactivated! My fault for keeping billing info in my acct instead of removing it when I canceled the recurring charges but it is still bad bad bad customer service and to top it off, they didn't give me a refund nor did they replace squat that was stolen by the hacker. When I was hacked in WoW because of a link I clicked, back then I was new to MMO's and ignorant of hackers, Blizzard had my things replaced within 3 hours, even though it was my fault. Looking for a new game to play that is not NCS.

I asked a friend of mine who plays WoW, who had his account hacked (someone added some "security pad" to his account and was able to change his password, doesnt really sound like good security if you ask me, but whatever). They had "disenchanted" all his gear and taken all the gold or something like that.
The reason they can return everything is because most of their gear isnt even tradeable between ppl. They got all kinds of "bind on *****" stuff.
Another guy I asked said he deleted his pvp gear to have more slots to put stuff in. Then he peioned a gm and got the gear back.
As of yesterday i'm missing some items from my inventory and warehouse on my main character, weird thing is, it's 'just' a few items, not even my top items.

it's just how u look at it , some game masters still concieve a
game as being "just" a game, no need to take it serious ...
so if a player feels the need in the first place to have to do a evil
plan like saying he's hacked , when he in reality gave gear to his

american or european, they REALLY do team up, team build, team share,
team craft, they simply Team up to do everything.

we are raised up on one-player games, and this is how most play L2
single player and occasionnaly multi-player.
So yes then u get big troulbe to gear up because u won't have access
to the same resources koreans have due to their extraordinary Team play
possibilities.
3.Time zone issues: Team working is really messed up for teaming up:
even in america and europe u can have time zones up to 5 - 8 hours
diffirence, so its really messed up compared to Korea with one single
time zone
So in conclusion :
Americans and europeans are playing a mutli-player game
in single player mode

so we can continue our bad habits of single players
u can ask annyone , even people from BIG even from HUGE clans

Those items were given to me and it seems they were bought with adena from RMT, NC will not replace these items.
Even worse, they actually think i've been apart from that same RMT process, i'm asking about proof, details, etc, but due to the nature of their investigation methods they can't show/give me that.

no gm would care if you had bottet/ebayed since c2 .. then you would be a 20xhero and they might even grant you some rewards and ask you to share your thoughts about l2 with the communtiy.

2nd clannie just got hacked yesterday. He only came back to game a week ago. He never got an email announcing his email was changed or password. My first clannie just got his account back after two weeks of waiting of ncsoft to respond and still waiting to hear about his gear.

i would guess the people that get hacked right after activating are buying game time cards from gold selling sites and getting malicious stuff installed.
Well I am still concerned with the recent hackings.
My clannies gear was restored which was still on the hacker who was banned. What was sold off is gone unfortunately. I am glad some the higher tier gm's are still good.
The time cards i have no clue, I should ask my clannies if they bought time cards from these sites. If NCSoft made the time cards easier to get perhaps this problem would be resolved.

Personally, I have witnessed 2 different scenarios:
1. A friend I met when I first started the game quit and came back after almost 2 years. I saw him in Goddard 6 months ago; we talked and 1 week after that I found him naked in Rune. He told me his account was hacked, he never shared his info with anyone nor bought adena, nothing... He told me he was waiting for a GM response. The next day, he was still naked and told me that the reply he got was that his case was under investigation. After 1 week, I saw him again in rune on his DC robes and his arcana mace. He told me that it took 4 days for NCSoft to give him an answer and according to the "logs" he was very consistent logging from a particular IP address and the day he got hacked, the IP address was somewhere outside the US. Of course, NCSoft did not disclosure any information of which IP address was the one that hacked his account and said they will handle that. He got his everything he lost back with no problems.
2. Another friend of mine had 3 accounts and one of them was a Doom Cryer. He got hacked and my understanding is that he shared his account with 3-4 other clannies. Somehow, he made the mistake to reply to that email scam from the supposed NCSoft about you needed to confirm your account info, etc, etc. The bottom line is he replied to that email and I guess that is how he got his account hacked in first place.
NCsoft gave him everything common back to him (jews, weapon, armor, etc). He had Arcana robes AM with SA weapon, and full tat jew set before. Of course, ain't that big of a deal for many but for people that play the game legit and craft their own stuff, is pretty much ALL you have in game.
Now, I am pretty much sure that NCSoft check the logs in game and if they see different IPs using that account, well ,they will probably give you common stuff back... dunno.
And one more thing... Smittie, you need some anger management classes. You always try to bring down people with your replies. They are several posts where you just give a -.-ty answer and nothing constructive.

I was not trying to bring SlyCutter down, but merely pointing out the irony of him trying to rack down on support, while not even spending a few minutes checking his friends.

I would post what was said in the emails but we are not allowed to post email convo's with gm's here.
Needless to say if my friend was a botter or ebayer he would not got all his gear returned to him expect the mats and recs the hacker deleted out of straight spite.
So my comment about lower tier support is still the same. When it gets to the higher tier GM's it is usually resolved but the lower tier gm's cannot even freeze suspect accounts of botting or hacking which is where the problem lies in time sensitive incidents.
It is like a beat cop pulling someone over for speeding and they have a gun. The beat cop has to let them go and tell a SGT. and 3 days later a SGT. arrests the guy for having a gun. Instead of beat cop arresting the guy with the gun and letting the SGT. investigate the crime while the guy is in custody.

My friends are fine, if you read slowly you will see I am not sure about the other 8 people I know on my server who got hacked cause they are not in my clan. Read slowly next time before you make comments.
