I am asking myself if there are any plans from NCSoft bout bringing a new server online?
From a returning player or a newbies pov there is no reason of starting on an old server. The xpspots are empty, its hard to find any partys and if you're honest to yourself there is no way of achieving something in the game. You have to xp your way up to 80+ to even think about participating in PvP.
Also the majority of the players nowadays is 80/81+ with w/e 2x Subs on 75+ on their botted toons. I mean how should a "new player" have fun here?
From what i've read on the different Forums NC is becoming a bit more "hardline" on the "cheaters" and is starting doing something but in my opinion its some kind of late starting that on the old servers. The ppl cought will just dissapear and what is left are old/empty servers where nobody has fun and nobody wants to start gaming.
So my question is why not opening a new server where they (U -NcSoft) are doin the stuff right, right away from the beginning? That will bring a lot of older players back to the game and with a bit of advertising/promotion many new players.
Lineage2 is one of the best games on the market and especially for ppl who like to pvp its awesome. The graphics still look great. No other game has this super-nice pvp + guildsystem. And i think many ppl remember how much fun it is pvping on the lower lvls also + u have nothing to loose couse the "cost-factor" for opening a new server is so minimal. Until a clan decides to transfer to the new server and take it over. There is simply not enough new players to warrant opening a new server. Most servers are dead now and we are in need of a server merges.

Make it so that you cant transfer there. You will have to start fresh with a brand new toon.

I play Phoenix and i run into Bot trains everyday.
if they still want to make some profit and want new players to play the game they have to open new servers anyway, also whether your new or old player- starting on some of the old servers is ed + every new server is soo crowded for at least 1,5-2years. much fun gogogo 40+ pvp ;D

I played on a X2 prive and thats where ive learned to play L2!No botting,no ebaying,no trains,everyone was crafting his stuff,hunt for mats,regular events like on korean servers,4k people online at least,you could login even early in the morning,go into a xp area and find some people there willing to party with you!
The only reason to play on off is beacause you wont get wiped suddenly,but with all these <<free bot years>> and suddenly <<ban everyone>> attitude i wonder how are we going to play the few that wont get banned........
Old servers with 83+toons also need new players that will lvl and make their game.If you dont ebay,you depend from the new players to buy your old stuff,or buy their mats cheap.Main reason economy is bad is the lack of new players.
Everyone would play on officiel if game was doing well.Game will go well if Nswest decides to give us all korean content(so after some time we will stop having problems with lack of adena/items/xp on high toons and everything that can be achieved through events).

The old servers survived cause of farmers.Player couldnt make the adena in game he needed to get geared..he was ebaying.Ebaying became a problem when always new stuff came every 6 months with each update,so players gave up the solution of ebaying constantly and they became bot trainers.Battling for raid bosses and win the enemys made all top clans to seek for better gear-more bottrains,or ebay,or auto programs-.
Almost all population in servers became afk toons and same people who were running bots to make money so they can gear their main, became bored of all that,started selling for real money and quit before they get banned.It became a chain...bot to make adena and lvl to be strong,get bored cause in reality youve stoped playing a game,make some pvp,get banned,or bot for next updates stuff,get banned or still there,do some pvp and then bot more to gain lost xp and make adena,reported from your ex-enemys,get banned,start a new toon,do it all over........Toons that exist only for raids pvp and olys,rest of hours noone would talk you in game.
It's all in Nscw hands,nothing will change if they open a new server if it is a x1 server with non-existant events.

What you got here is the real game....more Bots than players, RMT rule the Top Clans, NC goes out of their way to help them (Seeding, training, etc) That's the real L2. Oh and nice ads at the Gatekeepers for Adena Sites. The real offical L2...enjoy :)
U wanna see GMs in the game? Remove unstuck game feature and write GMs every 10 min about stucking ;DD like old good c1-c2 was ;D

and the players who want to play this game for real/legit would have so much fun. it's always that some guys who have more time, don't work,... would be more far ahead on lvls,... but everybody could find ppl to play with and ppl to pvp with or against without any problems. also i think the economy would be some kind of different. a whole better game and better game experience. and its not like who bots the hardest, which kid has daddys CC to ebay the most and all this .
i mean u ll often find the ppl who say like: "playing lineage2 without botting is ret*****", "playing lineage2 live is ret*****", "only nolifers play live",.... and so on.
in my opinion there is a bit truth in it. but its only in becouse the fact that nc is failing hard on getting things done right- which is not a problem, what the official rus-servers show us all.

First you gotta ask yourself few important questions:
-What do I love about this game ?
Most ppl will answer that the interaction and the need of having an epic adventure is what drives them on a daily basis while playing L2. And that is true, we all play to have fun and to achive something significant, we like doing this with or against other folks and that is what makes this game so unique for us.
- What do I care most about in L2 ?
Is it friends you play with or the level you gained, or maybe the uber pro items you got. None of that. What ppl care most about is fairness. Everyone wants to be threated equally and everyone wants to have the same chances as the rest of players. Botting, boxing, ebuying, stealing all this is what gets players frustrated cus it takes the fairness away.
- Will loosing everything I worked so hard and so long for make me quit ?
Some ppl will but more will come back, nothing is better then a fresh start, especially when everyone else starts from the same position. And you will not loose one essential thing - knowledge about the game. That knowledge will help you out more then you can expect, it will simply make the difference for you now.
IMHO wiping would be the best and most fair solution, you will loose everything but so will botters and ebuyers. A new beggining for all.
Another thing is that it will never ever happen, we all know that.
And off course we can speculate about the good and bad things of it, how for some ppl loosing their toons and lv and gear would be a nightmare and, how some would gladly give away their 6 year time of game achivements, for a fair and square chance to start over with their friends, hoping that this time everything would be as it should.
As for me, I have lost all hope. I still enjoy the game but I dont think anything that can drastically put L2 on its track again, can be done now. Its just to late.
I think they are just letting this game die out in NA, and milking what money they can from it while putting in only the minimal effort to keep it going as is.

rly m8, u cant do that and i think its a waste of time to discuss bout that. also when we look to topic its -new server- if the guys who play for years on one server and they like it botstyle and low population they should go on i dont care bout that. but for ppl who like the game how its meant to be, new server with better "support" would be best ever and its not hard to make.
and Kanaeda: i hope not couse this game has so much potential but ye sometimes i think ur right. one guy here opened a thread bout the official rus servers and how the staff over there gets thinks done and how many ppl playin, bot policy,.... and his thread got closed w/e only couse it shows how things are possible without problems to give customers a rly good experience. when i remember right the reasen to close it was like: u are not allowed to talk bout servers which are not belong to NA/EU on this forums- lool, its like im not allowed to talk bout the last design of the newest BMW SUV :). poor but maybe the CM and the other staff working here just get told- dont do this, dont do that, dont tell the ppl this,.... i mean loosing your job is not funny nowadays so ppl do what they are told to. and i can understand that )

Like I was saying in the other thread that was closed. I am pretty sure the problem isn't the policies of NA GM's, I beleive the policies are the same. The problem is the NA L2 market has gotten old, and has dried up. I am not positive, but I am pretty sure the NC Soft official servers everyone is talking about are not more then a few years old. Therefore its still fresh there. Therefore they are still making enough money from the game to employ many GM's
They need to make a few big changes (Like saving 2-3 updates for 1 mass roll-out), with a new name (L3 perhaps) and a few new servers for those who move to the new game. Or maybe some other huge change to draw people back in. Then spend some money on advertising and then spend their new found revenue on some support (GM's). But simply hiring a bunch of people to police a game in its final throws won't turn the game around.
I remember when I first started, it was a normal occurance to see GM's. They slowly got less and less, and now they advertise days in advance that the GM will be visiting the server. People gather to witness the special occasion, like it's a celebrity occurance.

If new people want to come to our servers they could do it,no 85lvl player is going to gang 50s,the problem is that if these people know how L2 works on Ru with items to buy in game,they can easily understand game wont work without these items(like rune'sp/xp/brez ect) and since they hear people constantly get banned for botting they know they dont have this option also,so what is left to do?
In whatever server they start they cant catch so many lost chronicles and become end game toons in 1-2 updates.Having or not having clans with 85 toons doesnt really affected them,85lvl toons are busy doing oly and pvp at bosses,no time to hunt 50lvl players.They will even go to siege and some times take castle,since not that many clans in their server.On Frantz now 2 castles belong to pve clans,1 of them is like total non-factors,a graders, we didnt even go to hit them,top clans did fight for their castles and their alt castles and low ones had the chance to find free castle and take it!
While I don't believe that NCSoft will create a new server any time soon because of the lack of interest in the game and poor advertising, I do think that there will be another series of server mergers soon. Perhaps bring things down to 1 or 2 US servers and 1 or 2 Euro servers.
NCSoft should start to advertise the game, because it is the best MMO out there and it never drew the crowd it could have even from the start because of poor advertising. One television commercial would probably add thousands of users in a week.

my friend the Linegae II is 5 years old and is logical the most of players are reached the high lvls. This condition creates "dead" areas on game and ofc is difficult for a newbie player leave times before 1-2years.
And until somebody have lvl who can go for xp to catas/necros, outside goddard, woa and all the others +60-65lvl areas, maybe he will be "alone".
If i start today the Lineage II, maybe in low lvls i didn't find some fun but i will had a big motive....the FREYA update in ~5 months.
so, my opinion about new players is to find clans who care about academy chars, make RB ptys and lvl up fast until 40lvl. After that try to make constant, is the better way to focus in game. Even the biggest clans, no matter servers prefer to recruit contants than unique players.

i didn't have any problem if ncsoft merge servers. To create a new? is little difficult and if someone need new server w8 the Lineage 3 (2011), but, one big problem of merging is what will happened with clan halls and castles?, what about Olympiad and Heros who comes from merging?
server mergers have happened before and can be done again, they took care of the whole hero/castle/clanhall stuff.. not a 100% in a way all would like but it got the job done and that's all that counts..

Trust me when NC Soft NA starts acting like their counter parts in Russia & Korea me and quite alot of others WILL transfer away from our current server.

I say don't fix the old, merge and leave them be. Use the hardware to make new servers with 2-3x XP/SP/Adena/Drops, different business model and NO transfers to them. The current state of the game is far too heavily influenced by farners, botting and high levels to welcome people back to, and the only way people would want to start again is with decent XP rates.
Remember, even if you do hit 85/80/80/80 you'll still need gear, even with 3x rates theres enough content in L2 to keep people playing for 4-5 years! People won't just come back to the same game though, they need an incentive and way to get back to where they were at quickly.
NC really has a chance to turn things around and monopolise on L2 and make a buttload of money from it. This is a great game and you (NC) have 6 years of experience and multiple business models to look at, with the right moves now L2 could be popular again in NA/EU and be played how it was meant to be.

I think they won't happen simply because NC stands to make more money off transfers of people who are trying to escape intolerable situations on other servers. It's not like we're paying them to merge servers, but we are paying them to transfer from one dead server to another. Therefore, there's no reason for them to merge servers as long as we have transfers.

As already proved by previous 'new servers'; a new server is fun for 3 months until server transfers are allowed then it becomes a hateful place full of people arguing about how unfair it is that a whole clan of lvl 80+ people transferred and took over the server.
For a new server to ACTUALLY work, imho, it needs:
1. No server transfers for 12 months.
2. A specific, exciting and/or profitable 2-week-long event only for the new server to start it off in a flurry. (To help make existing players genuinely interested to invest in it).
3. Serious anti-botting measures undertaken & a visible GM prescence at least a couple times a week.
I don't see why a new server would be any different however to Franz or Luna, so as it stands, unless a serious new approach was taken, I won't have any interest in it.

Which is why those servers are now dead. People went there thinking that NCSoft wouldn't allow the bots only to find that the bots were worse there than most any other server.

That's just the way it is . . .
i remember creating a toon in luna when it first opened... after 1 hour of running into bots in every single newbie town I left and never came back...
also consider that a new server means a brand new adena selling market, so the farmers will put a lot of effort into botting there so they can sell adena to the new players.

Ye,so mainly thats why creating new srv doesnt make sense without NC obligation,that they will treat this case serious,not like other srv's.Thats why they created L2,to have fun w/o bots...fully legit srv sounds great...or rather ridiculously.... Hasn't this topic been beaten to death already. The game is getting old, NC more then likely won't be spending the $ on purchasing yet another server, and then the $ on hiring a pile of GM's needed to constantly police it.
On 1 hand, yes, I would like to see what a bot-free L2 would look like. But after that, what is next? Limit the amount of time a person can play on the server to 3-4 hours, so no one comes out way ahead of others?
The other big question would be in terms of mats. Would they leave the drop rates the same as they are now? Or would they have to boost the mat drop rates by about 2-3 times (or more) to make up for the lack of bots farming mats? I can't imagine many people ever crafting high grade items if they had to get all the mats themselves. I would almost think they would need to redo alot of the quests to make getting things such as A grade recipes alot easier. Personally what I think we would see about 6 months after the bot free server was created would be a ton of threads like the "new server" ones with people complaining because there is no way they can get their next grade of items/gear becuase they sat in a field where the recipe for * item is supposed to drop at a rate of 1/20,000 for weeks on end and they hadn't gotten it yet.

I totally agree with you when it comes down to financing additional servers - that's simply utopian and absolutely unreasonable. But with merging two amercian servers into one and two european servers into another one NCsoft would actually save money and would still be able to launch an additional server.
And come to think of it: A new server with strict anti botting rules and some sort of "we start a new server - sign up now or reactivate your account and get benefit-X"-campaign would also attract a few players which actually stopped playing because of this.
I don't know how NCsoft is actually handling the petition system but for handling few servers with an approximate same player count sounds like a huge advantage to me. Isn't it? (Just think of server maintenance etc.)
From my point of view the pros are outnumbering the cons.
My biggest fear is this one:
Bots are players. Players pay money. Ban bots = no money. No money = ...
I think NCsoft just isn't capable of banning all bot users anymore because they would face an financial flop. Think of it.

By stating that few servers at an approximate same player count would keep the incoming petitions and work generally on a same level, I was referring to: "The work amount could be handled by current gamemasters and there might be no necessity to appoint new staff members". :p
Okay, to be honest: I don't know how much investigation and work is to be done for a strict anti botting policy, but I doubt there would be a lot more cases of obvious botting than on current servers.
And there too is additional work to be done by merging, setting up und getting the server on - I cannot tell in detail. But for the reasons mentioned above I think it could pay off. :rolleyes:

There is a strict anti botting policy on the current servers. It is just not followed.
What tells you that it would be followed on the "new" servers?
What tells you that the current players will be fooled enough to follow onto the new servers, and not just stay on the old ones or quit? Not the NCsoft's track record on the previous 2 new servers, that's for sure :rolleyes:

I cannot tell for sure, I must admit. Arguing for or against this is more a matter of attitude. :) So I'd rather think in a positive manner than demonizing everything from the very beginning. ;)
A strict anti bot policy which is being followed will be a necissate - and I too have my second thoughts on NCsoft's will on banning bots - which I stated above. So the counter parts to your questions are: "Who tells you NCsoft is unable to provide a strict anti bot policy?" and "Wouldn't you think the latest servers would have developed in another way when the policy would have been followed?" :o
I do think they are able to follow this policy but are aware of the financial backfire. So a server merge in addition with a new server with a followed anti botting policy could keep current customers and compensate the loss of botting players on the new server with a few new customers. Doesn't sound so bad, eh? The whole downside I see to this is that botting customers are easier to please! They generally stick to the game longer and thus are putting more money into NCsoft's bag. See this as a plea - See this as an appeal - See this as a complaint or what ever you like. But I'm astonished how resignated this grievance is being accepted. :mad:
Lastly, I do think that I have done what I can do - sharing my thoughts on how I see the game and how it could develop in future for the better. Anything beyond is for NCsoft to decide.
Here's the problem. Their isn't enough GM support to properly police the servers. I have no idea how many there are, but I honestly beleive they are trying there best to police what that have with as little resources as possible.
The idea of shifting the the current GM's focus on 1 particular server, would pretty much leave the rest in a total wild west state. I can remember the few times they have opened new servers in the past. Everyone had a utopian view on how this new server would be a place where bots don't exist, ect. ect. I can remember logging into these new servers on the first few days of there existance, and seeing more bots then people playing. I am almost positive I also saw hero shouts within the first few months of the server being open, and this is before TW's, so they actually had to level there toon and then their sub to 75+ in that short span of time.
The other problem. Bots/Farmers are more a money making company then just thinking of them as fellow players who just want to get an edge on the competition. What we players see as Utopia, they see as a new and very viable market, where they can make more $ probably then sticking on the old dying servers. NC Soft can't just design a server to not accept bots. No matter what someone trys to do to stop things, someone else will undo them. Don't just think this game, think computer viruses/keyloggers, satellite companies trying to keep people from pirating signals, the Music/Movie industry trying to stop people from bypassing them and downloading copies for free. No matter what crazy things they try, within a few days someone has figured out how to get past them.
