My warsmith is level 62 for ages and my highest toons approach S-grade finally. Too many alts, I know.
I am a casual and selfcontained player, no big clan at hand and I lost interest in crafting a long time ago. The 60% recipes seemed to risky for me to invest my hard earned mats and I didn't bother to keep track of all the changes that came later.
So what are the pros and cons of crafting today, is it alive, could average joe still use it or is it only a high level playground for some well supported specialists inside major clans?

With the changes to the Manor System (where only the botters get to obtain and turn in high level crops) and the drop rate of the recipes and key Mats... i would say that it is almost impossible to craft for items if you are legit.
"Well supported specialists"...LOL! just say botters thats closer to the truth! Afterall 1/2000+ chances are not for humans to obtain.

+1 in the past with the help of the manor I was able to craft the stuff I needed, but now since you can't obtain the mats needed for crafting you have no other choice than buy it from the bots and pray your craft doesn't fail
thank god I'm getting over this game, to much time wasted on the crafting and leveling and in the end I can't even compete with the boters who have better gear and leveled much faster with the help of NCSoft
The new "improved" manor lets the bots monopolize it and control the mats market. There's no way to bypass them and make your own bot free equipment anymore. The dev that came up with the idea to change the manor must have had a stroke, and I'm not talking about a stroke of genius here. Total brain melt down. The funny thing is that NCsoft isnt doing anything about the problem. They're pretending total ignorance. They see nothing, say nothing, and do nothing.

The dev didn't thiink NC West could not ban their manor bots. Actually, the devs didn't care about NC West at all.
yes. and if you want the item you have no choice but to accumulate the mats no matter how long it takes, risk the 60% craft, and accept the loss it if fails. L2 is not for the weak or impatient !
and a good clan will help you with your gear, no matter how many failed crafts it takes. It's really a big investment to try an Icarus craft, many people can't afford to do that by themselves.
From my clan I was given my Dynasty weapon, and the Icarus that will replace it. Still farming the aa myself to put on the SA but will be done soon. Clan gave me one of my dynasty armor pieces and most of the key mats for crafting the rest. Farmed the recipes myself in Den of Evil. Yes I failed some pieces, I think two or three, but got it all done relatively cheaply.
I got the crafted leathers by buying basic mats for awhile. Buy shops work wonders to save money, and I only buy the base mats like animal skin and make the crafted leather myself, I never buy the crafted leather straight out (big mark up there). Minimum price for most base mats is 2x the price of selling it to the store, you only pay more if others are paying more or if you can't get anyone to sell to you for days and days. If you can't turn in manor for the high level mats, then try manor on a noob alt for the base mats you need to craft the high level mats. And I just change up my buy shop according to what I'm short of next.
I'm almost always operating close to broke, it just takes time to accumulate what you need for craft if you don't have a lot of money. Whenever I get a few mil together I buy some key mats and try a craft, or set buy shop for base mats or ele stones I need for cheap and ppl will sell. This takes days/weeks/months, it doesn't happen all at once or overnight.
Also dynasty is getting really cheap now, it's often as good to buy straight out than craft even these days. It's the Icarus weapon crafts that break the bank...
My crafter is making more money now than a year ago, with the same recipe book. I quit leaving him logged as buy/sell since I make more money crafting shots, mats, molds and rare items.
