people have been complaining that Lineage 2 is dying since 2005, the game aint dead, Pheonix or Teon take a pick if player base is the biggest concern.
also i think it needs to be stated that now the game is in 2 phases.
1. no one really parties outside of clan therefore no real interaction ne more. I myself have 4 accts and carry my own buffs and support so no need for interaction with others
2. game really starts after 76 now. Lots of interaction when u get higher lvls. Pk wars over xp spots, clan wars, seiges territory wars, all are built for 76+ now. Basically this has turned into a solo till 76 game.
The only other thing i can suggest is that u can do some instances now call kamaloakas(speling?) these are up to 9 man raid bosses wich can be done 1/day per char. They give u interaction, big mob to kill, time dependant(must be done in 30 min) and are alot of fun.
Other one is 1 epic is instanced now. U can kill zaken with a 9 man group now and i have done him a few times in the last few weeks and its darned fun :)

:) TP to giran wait 5-10 minutes then run around :)) disabled alt+p option, and yes as said before NC killing the game, well on other side u might think that NC got rid of all 3rd party users and thats why its so empty ))) sometimes u want them to return....ur lolipop i mean :P

Eh i think if i have "major" lag with these hardwares and connection, then i highly doubt that any 1 could even play in L2 sieges......
I guess ill just stay on L2 now..^.^ cant really quit this game, maybe until Blade&Soul comes out next year.

depends. I think activity in general is low, lower than ever, but it's not quite dead yet. Also people do keep coming back, many from Aion...
but in general I think the game is declining for sure, it's just slowly dying, but there's enough people for drama, so it keeps going...

sigh... the 2 above just dont seem to get the point. I have waited about 7 hours (set up my own shop, and went to sleep) woke up and still nearly the same amount of ppl in the town. I live in Vancouver Canada, and FYI you only see a major difference in connection speed if ur outta NA. Man u ppl must really get better computers or internet connections. O man i swear, I loaded all the shops at the town in 1min with Dial-Up connection before XD
The main point is that most ppl dont sell stuff any more, and the population in L2 is no doubt decreasing. Or maybe u are new to the game, cuz Bartz was full of "LFP/WTS/Flame-wars" shouts, and "lots lots lots" of shops at Giran/Goddard/Heine/Aden. 2-3yrs ago. sigh.....maybe its true that all the old players of L2 have quit...maybe i should too.

First of all, the problem, while there are not as many people playing as there was long ago it was that you played, the way the game is now played has changed as well, making the Shops and people LFG semi obsolete now. If you are basing server populations on those 2 factors alone, you won't know the amount of people on the server.
The market for anything less then S grade has all but dried up. The number of shops therefore has also dried up. Not many people sit and waste weeks/months trying to sell some older gear for firesale prices. It is usually saved and loaned out to people, ect. Also the game has gone from Server based to more Ally based in terms of selling stuff, and looking for parties. I can't think of a time in the last 2 years I shouted for group. I do however litter my ally chat with LFG requests. If I don't get a party in ally, I solo. This is a very common occurance now. So no, the shops loading up in Giran being less is not the result of lag.
My comment about the speed of your connection going to the nearest Speedtest host, and not NC Softs servers, was due to a semi common problem I have seen. Can't explain it, but on occasion, people on the west coast, from BC to California seem to experience lag at the exact same time. People in other parts of the world are not affected. This happens to people on different ISP's ect, but the fact you are in this area made me make the comment about it.
As for your computer specs. Looked like you were bragging about the speed of your computer, and the fact no computer with those specs should experience lag.

Your specs aren't much to brag about. About the same specs as an entry level laptop. For people who play the game on Desktops, I doubt you would even be able to purchase a machine with those specs anymore, aside from maybe a place trying to get rid of old stock. You don't have to get uptight about it. I am sure it is a decent laptop, but you don't have to try to belittle people becuase they aren't impressed by your computer specs.
the game is far from dead, heck.. even if they shut it down completely ppl will play it on privs for a loooong time I bet on it. Some servers on the other hand, yes, they do look like they are abandoned ghost towns, at least comparing to what it was like 3 years ago. I said it once and I will keep saying: Merge all servers, make one US and one EU and thats it.
Your computer is better than most people pc's that plays this game. Heck, I even play on an old single core athlon 64 with 2GB DDR and I do fine on sieges. Your video card is also more than enough to handle L2 graphics.
I think your problem is with your upload speed. Indeed it's poor, according to the pic you posted. You should sue your ISP for offering such a nice download rate but a bad upload rate XD.

-His upload speed is low for the download speed he gets, but still way more than L2 needs
(mine is 6.09 Mbps dl and 0.51 Mbps up for comparision)
-Unless he double box, his hardware is more than l2 can ever use in terms of RAM and gf card, processor clock speed always can be better, but Core Duo is quite enough. I used to play L2 on 1.6 GHz C2duo laptop without any problem, hell even old Athlon XP 1.8 GHz was good for anything except sieges.
Really... unless you consider array of SSD discs (cause such thing really helps in l2) an "average" hardware, there is nothing with his pc and connection that could cause below-average performance.

Game has been said to be dying for years now...There will always be those who are never happy and complain and those who deal with what they get.
As long as the servers aren't powered down the game will continue with the player base that will stick to it till then.
I used your site link to test the speed and this would be my results (my pc is not the newest on the market. It's a Dell Dimension 4700 - from 2004 if I remember correct)

My laptop has very similar stats as yours and it is 3 years old.
These days if you are running a 32-bit OS (< 4GB RAM) you are below average, I would say. That's nothing bad, it's just not what is out there these days, especially for gaming.
Though maybe most of us are still playing on last (few) year's models, probably are...
As I said, my laptop is similar - even a bit below yours in processor speed and video card - and it runs the game fine. I know I have trouble in other games with large groups though.
That said, I doubt that you're not seeing the shops because you're experiencing lag. Even with lag they should load with a short delay if you are in town for any length of time.
applepieisgood I think your pc is about average. Many "gamers" have 4 GB ram, striped RAID array (very important for pc speed), dual video cards, etc.
As far as the game dying, I remember at the end of Open Beta many said L2 would never last. After every chronicle that came out since ppl have screamed "game sucks, it's dying, bla bla bla". Fact is L2 is here today, has been out for 6 years, it's still the best MMORPG on the market despite the extremely poor advertising, many private servers which pull players directly from the official servers, inconsistent and overall below industry average job of the GM staff. L2 will remain as such until L3, Tera or another amazing game comes out. Like it or not we are stuck here.
