I noticed recently, that there are no lower sets (like a grade) on the market. I also was trying to find missing classes for our const party and didnt even get pm'ed for 2 weeks now... sgrade crystalls are dropping like hell (from crystallizing stuff that cant be sold - shots arent used enought anymore to burn em fast enough?) I rarely see any low lvl PLAYERS (yeah live!!!) anymore ...

what do YOU think?
I think we're in CT2.3. The new content is mostly 80+.
Newbie Helper quest removed the need to level 1-20, and the vitality system make you take 1-2 levels every hour up to mid 50 at least, solo without box and taking mobs one by one.

Well you right about it, but in my server giran go to empty, s crystal, s80 mat, ls, stones, enchant book and mastery book price dropped :)
its just the lack of players that wanna join parties, and the lack of agrade sellers that confuses me ...
I regularily see announces for Kama 78/80 in hero chat, but I didn't pay attention if there's more or less of them. About the market, what I noticed is the drop of soul cry 12/13, and I'm interrested to know why.
btw washtak, you searching for const ? XD
Sorry, I can't do const, I don't play everyday. Thank you anyway.
I just sold Doom Heavy set :D
Nice! This set has a bad reputation in general. BW sells better.
the weather has turned nicer and they r more outdoor activities...ppl r getting involved in..when the weather goes cold again the population will increase.........myself i travel more in the summer si i have less time to escape here to lineage :(

hmm, ok so yeah 80+ in the game atm, also A grade armor quests were canceled cause 80+ zone were impamented, also ToI A grade armor quest is bigBS, so thats prolly why u dont see that on the market so much, also A grade with nowdays vita takes maybe a 3week or 5 week time and most ppl will solo in B grade doom +6 or DC, btw try to find low lvl clan where ppl not 80+++ and have low lvls playing, my server i always see someone looking for 36-65 DDs...
well good luck in gaming and *whispering* this game is more soloing then parting atm :D
From my experience, there just isn't a market for A grade anymore, so no one bothers selling it. I know alot of people with piles of A grade stuffed in there WH that they have given up on selling, so alot of the time they will lend it if you know them well.
You may want to start shouting while you are hunting/in town/ect, and maybe someone will hear and PM you with an offer.
And also most people seem to tend to sit to their clans now for XP groups. That and the fact alot of the new areas are meant for soloing, which has semi-killed partys, or make them harder and harder to find.
Why wotn they merge server why are they so stubbern whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
Epa!!!epa!!!
I think instead of merging servers they could just show more interest to the game they are managing.
More fun events - remember Lover's Jubilee? that event brought a lot of people back to the game, shots were selling, crystals were selling. Was actually hard to find any place to xp, and it gave to lower level players the chance to catch up.
Everytime this game has an update it's endgame content, most of the players are casual ones, so probably they are not 82+, and it's pretty hard for them to get to enjoy the new things in Lineage. Can you blame the fact they get bored and quit?
I am sure more involvement from NCNA regarding the events(events from which everyone can benefit ..constant benefit and would be able to enjoy it for 1-2 weeks) and services would keep people playing Lineage, bring them back or bring new players to the game.
A big problem is also that its hard to get back to L2, even with vitality. If you are an old lower level player, then money is hard to make, gear is hard to get.
i've seen some people swing it real quick.
maybe they were ebaying, but they spun a buck pretty quick, and leveled ridiculously fast... maybe they were botting...
but i've seen it done, advanced with gear S80 on 3 months.
Yes, adena flow is a lot harder now but people are doing it.
It is not dying, it is stagnating.
They can't put in lower level content because of the cost benfit analysis and most people are now A to S grade so any lower content is a waste of time.
When they up the level cap to 100, everyone will be wanting the new places and higher mops anyways.
No server merges :)
More ways to make adena would be nice though or at least have your vitality make a difference in the adena drop amount would make it better.
what if they add top B and A sets (at least tallum and dc) in npc shop? wouldnt this keep players in game for more time since they can exp untill 74? after that lvl L2 is a really nice game, at least on Teon.

You can get common sets, people should be happy with that. If they want real sets then they should be prepared to work for it, that would prepare them for the 'fun' that is s/s80 gear crafting.

S80 is easy, expensive but easy. The recipes are from easy to get with quests (ESP the Robe recs) and the parts spoil at acceptable rates in many of the new places. That's assuming you have a friendly 80+ spoiler ;)
S Grade armor recipes are stupidly hard to get, while the parts seem to be quite plentiful. I sell any S Grade parts I spoil to the NPC because there is no market for them and I get so many that I am sure I can spoil up a set whenever a clannie needed it.
I'm not gonna kill a ba-zillion Varka/Ketra to get a random recipe, you get one and I will spoil up the parts for you no problem.
I absolutely hate WoW. That game offers me no personal enjoyment whatsoever. That being said, there is a lot Lineage 2 can learn from it.
I won't tell NCsoft how to run their company or fix their game, because
a) they won't listen
b) they have other games to kill faster than this one (Aion)
c) they don't pay me, I pay them, they want my advice, penny up.
However, to all the players out there, L2 is not dead.
It's not as alive as it once was, but all things work in cycles. By this time next year L2 will have seen a turnaround. It won't be toping the charts, but it will have its health back.
with the new update, it will create a large gap between the haves, and the have nots... this is known.
the issue is it could make or break the game for future generations.
the change could cause the have nots to get fed up and quit, or it could help unify a lot of players based on the new balancing, and ultimately grow the population.
we will see.
although i might not, as i'm poised and ready to quit as soon as Freya comes out:)

i wish they keep adding more content 80+ that people like me have played for 2 years and havent reached yet they will kill the game i think they will kill aion and l2 that leaves them with 1 MMO? CoX witch at the rate that game is going will be around for 10+ years from now
if lineage 2 was like CoX where its easy to be amazing and everyone is.. this game wouldent have problems
there is no rift between the haves and have not players. if this game was easy and reasonable for EVERYONE not just for the botters who are 80+
meh this agme could be good and thats the thing said in this thread it is a waste of time to add a-b grade content because we blow through it.
OMG make it EASY to get 80+ in like 7 months and then POOF 2 problems with one stone
i don' know, i'd feel kinda sad if people could hit 80 easily...
took me a while, should take everyone else a while too...
i vote we make max level for new players level 61...
Lineage 2 want never be the same since chronicles 1-3 after 6 years given.
Since the most are using over 2 accounts and the most are on level top.
And between it gives more nice and easier MMORPG as at the start with Lineage2 times.
I dont understand all the blame for dying L2,in the future it will be for sure harder to find aktive gamers.
But for all who playing L2 they should know who playing the Hardest Online Game ever, especially for West-NCSOFT.
Should be the game for free, without monthly Abo and with NC-Coin System,
will be never the same L2 as we know but maybe return much old gamers back and much new gamers should find the way for L2, maybe only on this way will be returned the activity on this game.
NCSOFT should changes this like before the game more dying.
But i think it will be never happen, because NCSOFT get at the moment enough $$$$$$$ through all bad things, dont want list what all- think you know what i mean ><
the weather has turned nicer and they r more outdoor activities...ppl r getting involved in..when the weather goes cold again the population will increase.........myself i travel more in the summer si i have less time to escape here to lineage :(
Lol. No.
Lineage II doesn't give one the luxury of taking a break and then coming back and being competitive. In a PvE game with gear resets every expansion, you can take a break months before a new expansion, come back, level up and just farm you gear. That's not the way this game works.
You can take 2 months off and render youself non-factor by doing that, if enough people in the clan do it.
It's not cause of summer break. It's cause people are leaving the game, and those of us without foggy goggled have seen it happening ever since ~after Interlude. Those server mergers/transfer service held off some players from quitting because they were bored and the change excited them, but that wasn't enough.
If they do more xfers, it will be the same thing. People will come back/stay for a while to see what it's like, and then they will quit when they realize "it's still the same Lineage II."
People are saying this for a long time, Teon is still full with people. In TW & Sieges there are still hundreds of people partitipating.
Lineage 2 will never die.
Teon is a Euro Server, and there are less of those than NA Servers. People almost always try to move to the most populated servers (lots of people went to Bartz after mergers/transfers, for example), and that works well when it happens.
But to say L2 is fine because one Euro Server hit Normal 2 weeks ago (Normal, Lol...) is simply rediculous. Teon used to be heavy, IIRC, so even it's died down quite a bit.
I'd log in for TW and AFK dead on a Castle seige field, too. Who will pass up free gears and Noble?

I'm not sure it was heavy for the good reason. They are more efficient to remove bots from catacombs than before (hence the price of AA which raised from 2a to 7a). They're probably less afraid to ban adena sellers than the core pvpers botting their toons to 85 and using autoPvP programs. But the number of bots really decreased.
that is true, places like warka, hs, bs, etc ware crawling with bot trains. Now u can go and find urself a nice calm spot with nothing but mobs around you. Few trains left in catas but thats pretty much it. It seems NC sweeped a lot of bots and keeps doing that.
A funny thing about that, an in game friend of mine complained that he is unable to buy any adena from those adena selling sites cus they are all out of stock, couldnt stop myself loughing when I heard that, guess they must have hit adena sellers bad too.
Its just a shame all this seems to be a little late, there isnt many new players comming in and those who botted up to high levels dont need to do it anymore, at least the smart ones dont.
But dont forget that we legits are holding tight, there is many many s80 legit players out there and the distance between us and THEM is getting shorter, afterall, they cant jump any higher ;)
I think it would help if NCSoft gave a about this game.
Although tedious for the most part (lol grind), Lineage 2 offers a beautiful, refreshing breakaway from a market saturated with MMOs trying to cash in on the WoW phenomenon.
I believe if NCSoft ran an ad campaign, it would bring a lot of new faces to the game. Unfortunately, it seems that NCSoft has written this game off for dead.

I tend to agree. I am not your typical gamer and got into WoW (I know, I know) by chance. I was sick of it after playing for almost 3 years and looking for something different.
I didn't know about Lineage 2.
I found it on the NCSoft website by accident, wondering if I should finally buy Aion. I did the L2 trial and I like it very much and subscribed. It took a month or two of trying other MMOs (Eve, GW, Eq2) until I finally stumbled over L2.
Also, as far as server mergers, even on WoW some servers have ridiculously low populations. Server mergers result in bad press for any game, there was just an article about that on Wow.com or Massively, I forget. Either way, that may be another reason why NCSoft is reluctant to merge again...
Here's to hoping more people looking at Aion will stumble over L2 and try it ;)

It's a double edged sword.
There aren't that many players in this game, so there is less need for as many bots as before to farm adena to supply ebayers.
The more real player quit, the less botted farmer toons are needed to supply ebayers, and less botted ebayed toons are going to be leveled up to sell.

There's no such thing as a WoW phenomenon. There is just other companies failing left and right to provide a decent alternative.

/Agree
the circle active players who cant make inside game the money they need=adena sellers who run bots and sell adena cant break with the game content we got so far in NA servers.
Banning all bots/(players or adena sellers)brought unpopulated servers and poor economy.
What will be the next step of Gms is remained to see, cause if they only ban,the remain of people who play will stop also cause they wont find customers for their shops, dorfs for crafts and most of all, enough people to play in new Freya content.
I've read that even Korean people who have +++++++vesper weapons,+30 skills,+6 rare sets,85lvl in all classes(and all that legit, made with frequent events we never got)have great difficilty in killing the new version of Bosses,or hunt in the new areas. What will happen to poorly geared(compaired to koreans)NA players in Freya?
im one of the (new) players. I started in august of 09'. But I tried WoW and hated it.....Loved this game.....its the community that I adore. BUT* even since 08/09 I have seen the drop in players and the accessability of armor sets and weapons. still.....its a challenge. and if you dont like a challenge...... dont do it. games are for challenges. and then again. since i started in august 09' i have started a warsmith(lvl 57) and made plenty of adena and have a powerful warcrier(lvl62) and with that being said the game isnt hard to figure out.....alot to learn....but not hard to do.... I love this game otherwise I wouldent keep paying the money to play a so-called("dead" game lmao
p.s. and for these forums dying....I post all the time for simple things like trying to find people for kama and trying to find catacomb parties ect. ect..... if all the 80+ 2+years players would pull their head out of their butt and get off their high horse they would see that new players are here....but we continually get "shunned" and ignored by you....not everybody is like that but most. and obviously a lvl 62(me) cant level with a level 80+ but at the same time I think people know what im talking about.
i think id lvl faster now if i had just started game, many of the changes help a new player to progress quite rapidly - kamalokas, newbie buffs, vitality - u no longer have to waste weeks of ur play time waiting on toi bosses for sub nor barakiel for nobel, u dont randomly drop items when u die to mobs.
Its also possible that these same things have discouraged some players that have taken years to reach these goals.
Teon does seem busy, but just cos there are a lot of shops doesnt mean they are selling anything, im a complete noob there but it doesnt so far seem like a very competitive server :-S
if anything maybe they can fix the server speeds....because since ive been playing in august 09' the server aria has so much lag its almost impossible to play.....its not my computer or my internet connection.....its just terrible servers.....
Every1 knows the game is dying; the question is when... It seems some ppl return from Aion and after the return of the trials some new players appeared too. Looking at Dion shows there are some sellers there which means there are some low level players. Not that much as 2 years ago but not so little as 1 year ago (when Dion was totaly empty).

What do you mean by competitive?
Teon has 2 sides for high-end PvP (including bots and cheats). Teon was the first to kill Beleth (CT2.3). There are less powerful clans fighting over minor castles like Dion. There are players leveling their alts, so IMO shops sell A and B grades. For C grade there are the NPCs, so of course you don't sell anything but maybe significantly overenchanted popular weapons.
But that's what the WoW phenomenon has resulted in. Numerous companies pumping out trash MMOs trying to cash in on World of Warcraft's success. http://derp.blogs.exetel.com.au/uploads/derppics/-Horse-HERP-DERP.jpg
Vanguard and AoC are nothing like WoW. EQ2 isn't much like WoW (that game has seen many revamps of many things since release). WAR and LoTR are the only games that seemed to borrow heavily from WoW in an attempt to steal a large number of players form it.
That does not constitute NUMEROUS companies pumping out trash MMOs to cash in on WoW's success.
Also, there can only be one WoW. Blizzard and it's partners don't lease out the Warcraft lore/brand to competitors.

There are many small Euro and Asian firms are producing MMOs faster than the speed of light.

That money won't really help them, much. Territory Wars are every 2 weeks, and in 2 weeks a toon can go from 40-61, then 61 to 70, then 70-75. Gratz, an active player can make ~200M from TW (let's double that to say they made money doing other stuff in between, so ~400M total) by the time they get to 76, if they are constantly leveling.
What noobies don't know is that the grind in L2 is backloaded. With the Vitality and newbie buffers, it gives the fase impression of fast progress when you really don't start progressing at all until S Grade, because a non-boxed buffer toon below 76 is useless (really below 78, but I digress). By the time they get to 77, they will have gotten their reality check.

Those aren't reputable companies, and those games aren't mass marketed to WoW's demographic en masse the way games like WAR and AoC were.
In short: Those games really don't matter. They're trash, and pretty much doomed to fail from the onset. The companies marketing them are just trying to cash in on hype and make significantly more than the development costs so that they can shut the games down, quickly, with a smile on their face...
Cause who wants to manage an MMORPG (multiple servers, staff members, admins, GMs, developers, etc.) for a rediculously small playerbase?
No one.
I've been playing MMORPGs hardcore (8+ hours/day) for the last decade. If I haven't heard much of it, chances are it isn't even a factor in the MMORPG market. <- Many (Thousands/Millions) others would mirror that statement.
i don' know, i'd feel kinda sad if people could hit 80 easily...
took me a while, should take everyone else a while too...

Agree with you , took lot of time to be 80 amd now ppl are 80 in 6 month .Nothing to be proud let say ,

yeah as i said im new there so idk i meant things like festivals often times u will see catagories with zero scores set i dont think ive ever seen that on pheonix, lvl 9 clans owning aden that kind of thing and on the flip side alot of clans paying for crp (adena>effort doesnt = competitive imo) and pretty much everything seems to be about constants (id never heard the term till i tried teon) thats the kind of things i was thinking of.
I wasnt knocking teon - the two sides that u have for high end pvp do the smaller clans join in this or leave them to just fight each other ?
I haven't heard much of it, chances are it isn't even a factor in the MMORPG market.
I didn't realize you had to be factor to try to cash in on a trend.

People prefer to have constantly the same result for 7 signs in order to be able to farm AA, see the merchant/blacksmith and not have the bad surprise of having debuffs when going to town. And nobody cares about low level festivals.
Lvl9 clan owning Aden, I don't understand what you mean. The 2 sides don't let the major castles fall in other hands. If you want to PvP, you either join the sides, create a 3rd side and get stomped, or try to get lower goals like Dion castle etc, and fight with other clans that aren't necessarily fully decked with s80++.
And constant parties are the key to level 80+ legit. Not everyone can do it of course, but if you can, it's very efficient. I don't know what it has to do with competition though.
Why would you spend 2-6 leveling an academy toon for 5M?
It's a lol-worthy thing, so I lol at it.
idk if im not explaining myself clearly but u seem to be agreeing with me and lol ing at me at the same time :-S idk what u mean 2-6.
what i was saying ws ppl will pay for an acad toon 650 crp but dont seem to bother with festivals which is 1800 per catagory and takes up a whole massive 20 mins of ur time :-S

i was absolutely prepared to say that perhaps competition was the wrong word, however, everything ive read above (and perhaps im just not getting what u mean) but how im seeing that is :
we dont bother with festivals we like stability. Its a non pvp server unless ur part of whatever these 2 sides u refer to are ? these 2 sides decide who gets the major castles ? the rest of us pick up whatever they let us have ? we depend on parties to xp and are incapable of being self sufficient.
thats what i meant by not competitive. On a more positive note ive only seen one pker in teon thus far.

A nuker can make 500k AA in a buffround in a decent catacomb (esp if you get a double room, and that's not hard with the current server populations, generally speaking). At 4a per AA, that's 2M Adena.

There's competition if you want it. What don't you understand in "2 sides"? It's not a one-sided server where PvP is dead. Then you choose to be part of it or not. You can do hardcore high-end PvP, or you can do smaller scale PvP. Or you can PvE too. But if you want the best resources, there's competition for it.
And seriously, "we depend on parties to xp and are incapable of being self sufficient", WTH are you talking about? It's Lineage II, not a stupid instanced solo online game. It's not you're incapable of being self sufficient, it's you're more efficient in party. What are you trying to say? That being more efficient in party is bad for the game? Solo players should have it all?
That's totally ridiculous.
Yes that's how low SH fell, but generally speaking, they fight over Aden and Giran.
Imo they keep Dion cause it's closest castle to city so is easy to keep wards.
And they fought over Giran, cause it's X that fell low and SH pushing them atm :)
I wasnt knocking teon - the two sides that u have for high end pvp do the smaller clans join in this or leave them to just fight each other ?
In General 2 major side take most PvP.
They take castle that they want - practically no chance to stop them unless you not get help from second side .. what is risky because then they can set their alt clan :)
What is common on Teon X/SH fight to take control over almost all castles.
So called 3rd side who can't directly fight against them is messing constantly stealing 1-2 castles.
For X/SH with constant fights it is practically impossible to keep eye at all castles in last 5 min of siege ... and that is way to win :)
X/SH drain other clans from people but still non-factor clans still represent some power.
Let me say like this:
"Power what is not able to fight against any of side of conflict but still is able to make so big lags on mass PvP that it should be considered as factor" :p
Most of the Epic Raids will be instanced next update.
No one wants to XP in instances, but they have no issue raiding in instances, Lol.
L2 will get their eventually. A majority of people don't like XPing in Neutrality forever, but on the flip side there are so little decent XP zones that it's difficult to progress with many wars unless you're in a/the top clan on the server.
On top of that, NCSoft has a habit of nerfing decent/good/efficient/great XP zones an update or two after they're introduced, so there is great pressure on people to keep their levels up, or they may find themselves progressing at a lower rate than the competition did when an update comes out.
All those VR/Titan Nerfs, Archer Nerfs, Nerfing of XP zones and turning them into solo/small group areas (and often lower level areas) when full AoE Nuker groups used to level there, etc. (like Dino), making areas inoptimal for you, when you were leveling there for months before an update (like chromatic entrance for 78/79 nukers), etc.
MoS is getting obliterated in Freya, for example... I wonder when they're going to revamp Antharas Lair, however, even though I'm sure it will be "yet another melee/dd XP spot."
A nuker can make 500k AA in a buffround in a decent catacomb (esp if you get a double room, and that's not hard with the current server populations, generally speaking). At 4a per AA, that's 2M Adena.
Time is Adena.
i did the highest level catacomb, 3 room and i remember it was gonna take me a ridiculous amount of time to get 5 million AA, i was doin like 200k/hour and only if i had 3 rooms. a buffround to me is like 20 minutes...how the heck do you get 1.5m aa in one hour and the xp was horrendous
Sad to hear :( I just started play, I choose Bartz as my home... I hope not regret... Well well, I like this game a lot, but never played in the real servers now I have the chance and ppl saying that it's dieing! **** unlucky man I am haha :X was going to play the other ncsoft game but, I really wanna play lineage at least for a year and see what I can achieve here :D I dream in go farm in hellbound, so beautiful there, I did once in a lame private server but so **** bugged... I hope have the chance to do it here before the game DIE! :( HAHA
Well, for a new player everything will be for the first time and if he finds some active clan and makes some friends he still can enjoy game, not as we did on full servers but still he will.Problem with L2 is when you dont have rl friends to play with and you cant meet persons willing to make friends in game.
For older players, who see the game to be ruined with each update more and more, the dissapointment is big.Anyone liked the re-worked areas so far?I went to mos where i used to xp with party from 76lvl till 81 and then solo aoe from 81-83 and i thought why???why they had to ruine this place putting tables all over the rooms, making the ground mobs so easy for solo kill with low adena and low xp,deleting the best q for eas/ews and making the upper floors too difficult unless you go with strong full party!
(not that i like any other area, everywhere low xp, low adena drops,no mats just the chance for a good drop)
The actual purpose for this post was not to discourage new players, be sure. The game will not end if we have less players overall. Currently we have a new update and things seem to go better for a while. If you got good friends you will still have a lot of fun in this game!
I think we're in CT2.3. The new content is mostly 80+.
Newbie Helper quest removed the need to level 1-20, and the vitality system make you take 1-2 levels every hour up to mid 50 at least, solo without box and taking mobs one by one.
That's what you're observing.
Wait what nooby helper quest I just leveled 1-20 :O did i do something stupid?
People have been complaining that the games dying since I started back in C2. Sadly I kinda agree with them now, but it is definately not unplayable or impossible to give more life to the game.
The game I started playing back in 2005 was completely different to the current game. Now everything is just far too focussed on having level 85 with ++ skills and gear that is hard to get, all of which takes years and years of play to obtain legitimately. Back in C3/4, the games "heyday" for me, people PvPed from 40 onwards, levelling untagged was rare and buff boxes were not so common, let alone 3-4 accounts like now. Being 10-15 levels below and enemy wasn't too much of a gap and there was no massive rush to level up to be able to enjoy content and pvp, it was about having fun and getting new skills. Now people often have 3+ boxes and detag for months on end to level up so they can pvp, the grind has gone from a 7-12 month clanned slog to with a 58 buffer 75 to a 2 year untagged grind to 85 with 3 useless subs for a player without uber gear and lvl 78+ buffers.
The lack of clan or pvp just gets people bored fast and wanting to quit. I miss the days of levelling in a clan party in TOI/Catas at 60-70 with a spy at the entrance and getting ganked by parties of lvl 75 toons which we could beat if we played right. Now 1 lvl 85 can beat any party of under 81s. When I first came back I joined a party and some guy kept hitting one of our members threatening to pk her.... I was told to just leave it since the guy was 85 even though he was only 6 levels higher than me and we had a full party, I was right to leave him too..... thats where the game has changed and gone to pot imo.
The boards are also a bad sign, back before I quit here was still quiet but now even the fansites only have maybe 5-10 posts a day, the official boards have maybe 8 regular posters and 5 posts a day. Most of the posts here seem to be all aimed at how bots ruined the game etc etc etc, my shoelaces were undone, it was a bot, I blew my brig helm for +4 it was a bots fault. Theres no way that removal of these would improve the life of the game, plain fact. Theres simply not enough of a player base to support people making gear and items with the low level nature or material gathering. It's just an inconvenient truth without the unmentionables gathering mats for weeks on end to gell in giran, or farming stones and key materials from quests that legit players like us wouldn't be able to craft new gear or catch up with those on top without spending years on end farming base materials on alts let alone levelling our mains.
The high level players with +300 weapons don't need to use programs to get where they are, they have all they need and their clans make billions farming bosses for epics and full items drops to give to their members, they get the best XP spots and can kill anyone else who tries enter. Since I've come back me and my housemate have made a few billion and are in a position that soon we can have the gear and levels to get to 85 pretty quickly and confortably hunt the places we need to get the drops and adena we need to pvp. We don't use programs, we don't need to, we just play efficiently (and a little bit hardcore). I'm well aware though that the time will come that I need thousands of Mithril alloy, S Cry, DMP etc to craft the gear I need and need to buy AA and S Gems for a reasonable price. Without people farming massive amounts that at lower levels to support the high number of people wanting the gear then we'd be stuffed. I'm sorry but if it came to a stage where the only way to get my gear was to spend months farming the manor system on alts and levelling in catacombs for AA rather than buying in giran then I'd just have to quit and I'm sure all you guys crying on here would too.

I agree with your post on everything exept on the part of being 85 in top pvp clans.
I've been in top clans and the truth is that there is a certain number of players(the leaders 'friends) among them who do get all the goodies when they need them and dont have to worry about anything.
The rest of clan contains people who were always having bottrains and they get their bilions from them to gear their main, people who were afk untagged to lvl and farm adena to join clan when they are ready-then a new update comes with higher items and drug them back to bottom, people who ebay and people who stay without top gear and hope clan will also give them, when they loose hope they change clan/transfer to find better clan/quit game.
Bans dont help the game survive at all, since with each account server loose tonz of mats that will be missing from market and clans miss their high dds and support classes our servers,we can see it in our servers.
Not ban bots, means they will rule game while the legit ones will have no hope to reach them.
All play legit means no mats in market,we often discuss about the spoil rate and how many hours players grind,no way to make even your own mats if you fail in crafts.

What is the solution?
You don't know how relieved I am to read your response, I nearly deleted my post thinking I'd just get shot down by the idealistic "holier than thou" brigade, lol.
I really don't know what can solve anything now, A New server or two with strict bot management and no transfers for a year or two would be nice. Won't stop the problem on other servers but will give a fresh start and give NCWset the income to carry on our servers and possibly some new players filtering over.
Other than that all you can really hope for is the grind getting a bit easier (which it will) and allowing normal players the chance to get close to top gear, kinda how olympiad epics and icarus/vesper quests have helped. The problem now is that theres such a big gap between high end and anything below it that the grind before is even more tedious and tons less fun. One of the reason we have our own little clan, theres no hope of winning pvp while we're trying to get our levels/gear and in all honesty it's getting relly tedious and boring and we XP 9x faster than most people do.
If it were a case of a level 80 with decent gear vs a level 85 with top gear was a 40%/60% fight then the game would do well I think and more people would play and less quit. But as it is high level is just a bleak prospect where you have to face the fact that until you're 82+ you can't make money easily off quests and untill you're 85 with a decent set of gear then you're gonna get beat tons in oly/pvp, even if you get that theres not much pvp since people need to de-tag to level or they just get ganked constantly and never get anywhere (0.2% an hour and 1% a death for 6 levels!).
Hmmm,i dont see as a problem the lvl difference so much as the adena difference.
You dont stay behind in lvls because you dont bot but because you are not geared well enough or you dont have the 4-5 oop autoprogrammed boxes to xp in the places you can get maximum xp(like it was arcana spot/tullys/aoe fog)and you cant win pvps against those toons even if you reach 84 with vitality events because skills only land and do dmg if epics and you can never ever gather dozens of bilions to buy epics.
In my opinion from Hb update until now we get content we cant follow it.This may work on korean servers were there was no bot-ebay,all people play from day 1 in a 4k server, monthly events and epics are just pixels that each clan gives to her members so they can play the game, but on NA servers conditions were not like this at all.
There are sites that sell everything,toons/epics/weapons,where do they get them from?By people who bot a toon to 80+in 2 months, join a clan and pretend that they will play on this clan, only to lvl their toon in clan partys, get some epic and go sell it later.Or from leaders who sell the epics their clan gets instead of gearing their members.
Making a new ''clean, patrolled'' server,is something that wouldnt work, since we all understand that our x1 servers didnt work (especially after c5)cause people cant make the money they need to follow every update's new gear unless they constantly make alts to farm and sell things untill they make all money to gear a main toon, that's why legits stay behind in lvls. How many people who became s80+ with dynasty after years of such work would like to begin all over and re- do it for more years to re-make what they allready had?I'm not crazy to do it.
Solution is either Nscoft removes epic jewles from game and adds higher skills on each class,or make the Raids stats as they were before freya ,or Nswest finds a way to give to her legit players a 5/5 set. :P
Bosses drop also the top armors, which could still make a difference,i wouldnt mind for Nswest to make a donation system that gives points to accounts 2+ years active +rl money to buy epics on a logical price. This would end the sellersites and the clans/clanleaders that would remain in game would do it because they love the game, not because they get profit of it.

I didn't say a new clean patrolled server would be 1x, and I didn't suggest that there be any changes to current servers so people have to start again. Just a new server for new players and possibly some old too, higher XP/SP/Adena/Drop rates would be a good idea on it also. :p
Levels don't only help in PvP, they also help tons for PvE and earning adena. Pre-80 theres really nothing players can farm to make much cash, Varka needs a lot of work to get recipes and 7 hours of XP to get 1 boot/helm/glove rec worth 3-4mil isn't much at all. 78 maybe you can hunt IoP for fire stones but thats really slow and low XP too. 80+ theres tons of quests for dynasty, and 82+ even more places open up for quests and farming items that actually sell such as key mats, recs and crystals/stones.
Epics are still a huge problem, one that NC are clearly worried about with the oly jewels and instancing bosses. Hopefully they'll make Zaken/Frint easier in future too so players can be pretty much guaranteed to be able to get their jewels once they reach the right level to get them. It is a bit like WoW and the power clans with epics already will complain, but it would do the game loads of good and give people goals to aim for rather than reaching a level and still being useless.
This game isn't World of Lolcraft, it's a mans game, man up stop being pansies and grind it out. Nothing good ever came from "easymode" you gotta earn your your levels and your respect in L2. This game has been dumbed down enough with all the newb friendly additions. If your new, learn to be social it will take you a long way.
Teon has lots of active adult players who enjoy the game, feel free to stop in and say hello.
If you want a very basic childish game, you should probably look elsewhere, this is the grown ups playground.
...and no the game is not dying, the high levels have all multi-subbed and log on for sieges after putting in years of work, they are done with the gear grind and xp grind. Check the server stats from sieges this weekend, there were a boatload of people online.

Lol, I've been playing this game for 5 years, I know what type of game it is. The noob additions are just the tip of what's been dumbed down, back in the day people dropped items all the time dying off mobs or raidbosses, nowadays death is a joke.
The fact is that theres no way to get epics unless you're in a clan doing the epics, those clans have to be handing out those to players too. Often these jewels seem to just go to the highest bidder.
Theres always been a rich get richer, poor get poorer divide in this game, but since C4 it's got insane and thats where players have left and all servers have gone one sided. The games gone past being for the hardcore, even hardcore can't achieve what's needed when it relies on control of a server and those who currently control servers are stronger than anyone without the gear.
Lots more ppl playing "hardcore mode" back then than today and most without the "easy button" turned on for sieges and pvp.
QFT, L2 is more carebear than ever needing to get to 85 with top gear before you can pvp. The game wasn't perfect back then and updates are needed to keep it interesting, but there were a lot less cheaters and more people playing. The focus on grind and the gap between high end and normal players just caused many to either bot, multi multi box or quit.
One thing that really supriced me when I came back was hearing about ranger, people have talked about bot programs before but those were purely for grind, not pvp.
I love how people cry about botters now... but have no idea how it was in C2-C4 where every single field had multiple bots or full trains. I remember trying to do HS quests when it first came out and being lagged so bad by the thousands if not million arrows laying on the ground.

I used to love finding piles of drops all over the place and picking them up. Worst wasn't just the arrows, there were farmers that controlled whole areas of the game and pked people out of catacombs and hunting spots. Plus the raid farmers.... though I loved them since they joined an enemy ally in a deal for drops so they were at war with them and I was an overlord with AOE silence I could cast from the gate vs 40+ bot nukers with poor jewels! :D
The bot problem really isn't an issue now, apart form the low supply of mats inflating the market. Activity and unbalance on all servers is a pretty big issue though.
Untill C4-C5,having or not epics, wouldnt matter to most classes, skills were landing on mobs,on raids and on players, you could make your gear either from quests, mob's drop,or from raids drop.A legit player could play the game and built his toon.
As for places full of bottrains...where were the gms back then?
After raising lvl cap,all basic skills of toons (74-78lvl)dont land well without epics,or dont do best dmg.
You may say im a pve player,i wont pvp never,i wont enter oly never,so i dont care about epics, still if your party didnt have some epics, you couldnt xp at HB arcana spot,or chimeres,or Tullys,or Fog melee aoe,or make high kamaloka,or do the instance at Gracia,or kill a lvl80 raid with 1 party.
These are all tested by me about 1.5 years ago,i was doing them with clan partys were players had at least 4/5,when i tried to make them with a group of old friends who decided to come back in game ,they were 80-81lvls expirienced players with s gear but 0 epics,we tried several times and not enough dmg,the guys left the game for good after these tests.
About tw jewls and oly jewls, they cant replace valakas(unique item for nukers m.critical rate) or antharas(unique item for best mental attack landrate/resist mental attacks/resist shock).
You can add ofc skills from augmentations that were ''transforming'' a class inside oly, like celestial, nuker augm ect..a legit player cant pay bilions to augm npc to get those, ebayers or bottrainers could.
Make epics accessable for active players and you have elliminated all farmers from big clans.I would like to see what Sace or gms think about that.

Oh god the arrows of DOOM, i remember that. and all the RANG RANG and CAO NI MA
The problem with the game is non-stop changing economic rules. The 1st thing every economist learns the deflation is much worse the the inflation. But the worst thing ever is every couple of months to change the rules. In the long run this always makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.

+1 every legit player who raises a bilion to buy/craft the new armor/weapon/belt/element stones or whatever only to see them ruined by the new gear who drops previous items prices down in 1-2 updates and then has to do it again and again can confirm that.
This is one more reason that people bot to 84 and then join a top clan,so they dont have to make different gears as they lvl, since a bot doesnt need to xp on hard mobs to make his xp in 3-4hours,he can kill green- light blue mobs for 24/7,or wont pvp to feel the lack of best gear.
But bot is bannable so game should have mechanics to give to daily active players everything they need to achieve every updates goals isnt it?
I laugh hard at people who say ''Back in the day was better and thing should have been kept as they were''
It was different back then, there were a lot more people running around, you could get pick up groups for the lower level RB all the time, train the bots for drops, etc. Also, for some people the game was new and every area was exciting to go to....
Would I like to go back to the old day, maybe, but I also like the new things.

L2 has always been about monitoring the up and coming patches and buying/selling before and after an update. The economic problems have come hand in hand with the shoddy now "high end only" pvp system.
Common and npc buyable items killed pre-S grade market backed up with the high level additions that mean it's pointless to spend money on anything under S grade, now it's even pointless to buy/element gear until you have your final pvp armor since you've gotta throw 300-400mil in stones on them to just have basic 120 element resist, let alone crystals!
The Masterwork system has raised the price of base mats with people buying way more than they need and lowered the price of full items since they sell off the normal crafts until they get their masterwork. Theres virtually no way for new players to break into the market, and by the time they hit 76 they now only generally have a common armor set and weapon... worth zilch! People can't upgrade without assets and most people won't think that way while playing a game, unless you're totally clued up and experienced in the game you're stuffed!
As for the getting to 84 without a clan, personally I'm 82 now and clanless still with the Sgrd I had when I came back plus some new weapons I bought cheap. There simple no point in joining a clan since few clans have regular parties and without one I can level whenever I want with my housemate and friends. I've met a ton of untagged people who are doing exactly the same to enjoy the game and to be frank it's ridiculous! I've spoke to a few people in clans and 90% of them have to make their own XP. It was getting that way before I quit, one of the reasons I did quit.

Just to know, most big clans have constant partys. If you enter a good constant party, then your xp or gear issues will be much easier,if you just are inside a top clan alone, then you are propably better untag.
On good constants, their members do everything together,xp,pvp, raid for their party and raid with clan, siege, chat, exchange infos and advice, joke in ventrilo.A really good constant party is like a small clan inside the clan, partyleader takes care of what his members needs by asking from clan leader items,or by organising raids they can do as a party and split the drops,or anything else like go spoil/farm fortress ect.You enter to a constant when there are empty slots in clan's partys, ofc if you know some of the guys its better cause you are going to play with those people everyday so its nice to know if you like them and want to stay with them. Not all constant partys are like this(some of them may exist only for clan's forum reasons),but if you enter a good one you will have a fellowship to play with and have fun.
I have a constant on Franz , i try to make it a nice one even with so few players on server, im missing some classes(post exists in franz server posts),if you or someone else who reads here want to try us we'll be happy :)
We (with my wife) started to play after the Interlude update. There were a lot of new players those times and few were compalining about the cost of low level gear. 1st because you could earn a lot of adena crafting/trading it and second I was sure when I bought my full plate C set I will be able to sell it for the same price when i don't need it anymore. And second - getting all those things was an acomplishment. Sure we weren't nobless but we had our achievements and we were glad we are advancing. Now the message which the new player gets from NCsoft is "We don't care about you; get your a*s up to lvl 80 in few months or get lost!"

Agreed.
But, to reply to more issues in this thread:
1. Botting was much more rampant in the past. Farmer traines were blocking all catas and places where you could earn something. We still had rift tho, but you had to buy fragments from bots also. At times you could find a cata room.
2. Botting is still an issue today, but different. In the past ppl were farming adena on stolen cc to sell. Now botting killed the game because there is no more pvp. There is still a niche for a few ppl that dont play pvp, but those are few and far between because l2 is a pvp game.
3. The thigs that really killed the game were newbie buffs (frustrated a lot of support classes), low level of party bonus and when ppl party they box other chars, fast progress to S grade (used to take years for legits), creation of herbs and solo areas to fit the misfits (this is a MMORPG FFS...) and many other mistakes that gave to ppl what they wanted without taking into acount that if it is easy you dont need help, if you need to solo it is boring and if it is boring you quit or bot to ffwd to 85 where you think the game starts. This is the same idiocy, make the game easy, give ppl what they want, but if we all have what we want there will be no humanity all die of boredom, including if we are immortals, we kill ourselves. It is human nature. The game eveolved against human nature and now is living last moments.
Now they want merger and will get it (agreed, SOME merger is needed, but not 1-2 servers, i think 5 would be more like it) and the catastrophe will happen again like last time.

I love how people cry about botters now... but have no idea how it was in C2-C4 where every single field had multiple bots or full trains. I remember trying to do HS quests when it first came out and being lagged so bad by the thousands if not million arrows laying on the ground.
And the way the bots used to leave quest items on the ground.
You don't know how ridiculous it was until you lock up at a field that has 5 days worth of arrows on the ground, because GMs did nothing to stop the bot trains that leveled AFK non-stop from 12pm Tuesday to 10am the following Tuesday...
Lineage 2 died when the Teon Russkies started selling L2Control/Radar/Ranger/AIM and all that cr4p. All the rest, about who has epics and bots and blah blah is utterly irrelevant. Lineage 2's coffin was buried when NCsoft allowed PVP to get automated which really is the most amazing display of selfownage in video game history. So yeah, C5 was the beginning of the end, Interlude with added bonus: hide function sealed L2's fate.
The problem with the game is non-stop changing economic rules. The 1st thing every economist learns the deflation is much worse the the inflation. But the worst thing ever is every couple of months to change the rules. In the long run this always makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
Not really, it make wiser richer and they rest poorer.
Well the reason why isn't so many A or B grade items on the market the next:
1. With the vitality system and the recommedation system the XPing is faster from the last 2 years like than before, but the drops aren't better.
2. Available the Common items too in the game and it is much more cheaper like than the original items.
3. The farmer groups are much more fewer like than 2-3 years ago. I play on Teon server and I noticed, that hundreds of bot groups disappeared from the server under this time.
So from now not enough buy the items from the market from now You have to go and farm them and it is very nice, the Lineage 2 will start earn back his original form.
I think now if the server merges will all ready and will stay 3-4 servers, NCNA have to make more Events, more funs and how we ready talked on this forum they will have solve the problems that the GMs can guard the servers in 24 hours. If this will work soon will raise up again the population of Lineage 2 and maybe soon will need open new servers after the merges:)
I just returned to Lineage 2 less than 2 weeks ago after quitting during Chronicle 3. As a player since prelude/c1 I can easily say Lineage 2 has changed alot (understatement). Not only has the game became more easy, the low level areas are virtually useless with the new quest system. It took me a few months to hit level 54 on my SE back in chronicle 2. Judging by how it's taken me 2 days to hit almost level 40 on a new character, it won't be long before I am up there. Anyway, the point I am here to make is that until your level 75+ the game doesn't even start. At least in the old days you could be lvl 10, 20, 30, 40 +++ it didn't matter, you would ALWAYS have parties in places like cruma tower & execution grounds. There were players everywhere! Now, either everyone is high level & we aren't getting any new players or the game is dead. Which is a possibility.
Solution: Server merge a server like Bartz/Phoenix together. Need players for fun, and stop making the low lvls complete bs, waste of a game knowing what it use to be like and what it's becoming, sooner or later its 1-75 by 3 hours of questing. Stop trying to make the levels easy, it's no fun, it feels like a private server imo; no players, fast exp, adena doesn't matter.
