Hi everybody. I played a tyrant legitly for three years. It became lvl 78. Played from interlude to what ever chronicle it was 3 years after that.
I hated bots and abusers. I felt powerless when these cheaters owned me and my hard earned character.
It is obvious that no new players will get into the loop without botting these days. And lvl 80+ players will get bpred and quit.
And somehow right now the GMs are starting to do stuff. Why now? Its to late. GMs think they are doing the playerbase a favour. Well its like feeding a dead hamster.
Yes I did start using 3rd party programs because theres no way in hell to compete without it.
I have no problems with bans as long as there are consistency.
Or maybe the GMs just ban people which use cracked walker? Wouldnt surprise me.
no its not too late , if u do ur own game and fight ur on lvl for now , do ur stuff xp every day , aoe fog /stakasto nest etc etc u can get 82 still this year ( YES YOU CAN EVEN BEEN 78) and u dont need to play 24/7 for that... just be patient.. the next update will be good for u have lvl 82 to be able to do the new quests and instances wich gona giive u a real nice money and make u stronger.. and the max lvl will be 86 ( just 1 more lvl diffenrence for the boters)and many s84 stuff and new s80 stuff will be craftable and will have lots of new places to farm , and u'll be able to get new stuffs...
i got 80 in february this year.. they i gave a little break cuz i lvled from 77 to 80 in 3 months just by going hs then aoe fog in lvl 79to 80 allday and now im 65% soon 81 , so just do ur own game, u dont need to be in a top clan to keep xping...
what will lack for u maybe is pvp , since the neutral or what left from ppl out of big clans in some servers is just too small..
ill trasnfer to phoenix and there the neutral comunity is big and have lots of war... i dun need to be a idiot and join a big clan to dier 1 hited by war ...
i already said ... if ncsoft make new events and month events maybe week, and make some promotions for players that are comign back, maybe the comunity increase.. and in like 1 year the game grow.. cuz if this thing keep going tera will kill l2 at all ..lol it'll come like a bazuca and explode everything
How much do you play/week? 2 hours? I've hit 82 on main after 1 year of playing on official server. This is a hardcore game, I don't understand why people who can't play 3-4h/day, or more, complain so much. And by playing I don't mean staying afk on Aden stairs or rp-ing in Giran market, you can't get xp that way.

The gap between uber legit and leet botter is not as vast as one might think.
I was an avid bot hater and I griefed them and all that stuff.
But as someone earlier pointed out if you want to PVP going legit is not an option. It would have been if NCsoft had acted earlier.
I didnt decide to start botting to get an advantage, just to be able to compete.
NCsofts bans are inconsistent and incoherent. I would have no problem if they banned 100% of all botters. Its a fact 90% of all people above 80 or the heroes have been doing some heavy EULA straining.
All people who where botting up until recently where safe and can now roam around unprohibited.

Because they don't run multiple trains (paying many hundreds dollars monthly), don't get banned and thus don't buy more accounts to replace the banned ones, don't buy adena and thus don't support the farmers' activity (which brings more revenues to NCsoft), and so on.
Having said this, I'm pretty sure that if I would suddenly decide to start cheating ("just to catch up"), I'd get banned instantly, for any single little infraction the GM's could find, while legions of hardcore botters would continue to do their thing, only getting random bans once in a while.
This is why I have never done anything against the EULA, and never will.
If you were unable to consider this aspect, bad for you.
Second off, here's another thing. When I see someone who has recently betrayed the idea of legitimate game play (i.e. used to play legitly and then resorted to cheating), I report them most zealously. Because they truly deserve it.
If I see a bunch of farmers botting in one spot, and a formerly legit player walking next to them with a botted buffer, guess who I will report? Certainly not the farmers.
Having said this, I'm pretty sure that if I would suddenly decide to start cheating ("just to catch up"), I'd get banned instantly, for any single little infraction the GM's could find, while legions of hardcore botters would continue to do their thing, only getting random bans once in a while.

I have some friends that run trains on a few servers. And whenever they tell me about their toons getting banned, they say that normally only 1 toon gets banned at a time, and these are 9 man groups. NcSoft not trying very hard to get rid of bots, or are GM's just that dumb?

The problem is not that "bots are 85 and legits just reached 76 QQQQQQQ", because that's not true. It is just in unfair competition which allows people who suck to pretend they're pro :P

I had what it took to be legit. I grinded to 78 without vitality which didnt exist back in the day. I played like 8-12 hours aday just sitting infront of monitor clicking mobs. People thought I was a bot because of that lol.

L2 on X1 rate and without the right events was a dead game(or a ebay game),right from the start.We the players didnt know that,cause we couldnt know what kind of content we would get in the future.
Ru servers have options(cheap to pay)for buy vit/boost drop rate,those things means you dont need to sit clicking on mobs for 10 hours everyday just for 1.5%(like we 79+ people do on NA),so you have time to do other things too,like do the manor system.

yes i dont like the bots , they suck , but what can we do? simple we play our game...
unfortunality p-laying the game legitly is almost impossible in some servers...
for example , if u wanna play and compete for pvp and stuffs in deavianne u can join like 5 clans...
Sunshine (wich dont pvp often , most of the time go xp) Legon of Devinity ( they are the best pvps of the medium clans , they pvp arg0nautes and if big clans come try kill them they flag back sometimes and win soemtimes also but ofc they wont war them.. is totaly different :P) u have Arg0nautes ( they have many strong ppl too but less active then Legian , and in my opinion they are wrost in pvp) u can also join The Black Dawn or Wratched Outkasts (dunno if i type rioght) those are less active then those 3 b4.. if i miss any clan , sorry hehe but thats what i remember ^^
so if u see , the only real war there is arg0 vs lod ( my mates and i had a clan allyed to lod and we also war arg0s ,the name was co1 wich was a try to rebuild a old school clan , but didnt work , we just couldnt . Finding new ppl was very hard and we couldnt even make a raid party for us to farm); At the end my mates trasnfered to phoenix and i sstayed just for a few. ill prob trasnfer to phoenix next week. if u go to phoenix u have enaugh meidum clans to make fun for you :] ofc the big clans there kick our , but we dont war them .. we war the medium clans to compete .. thats how u play ur OWN GAME .
join a big clan is not an option unless u wanna bot or boted b4.. or at elast have friend in this clan that will give u gear and p lvl ^^
about the lvl , i alreayd told u .. play 4-5 hours a day, if u can pay 2 accs and since u re a GK with a dc lvl 78 + u can solo almost anywhere and also if u wanna pay a 3rd acc and pay a bd and get a friend that can heal u , you can go aoe fog 24/7 gettign like 16-7k xp each mobs pulling from 2 rooms wich gives u 10% a day if u play like 8 hours in lvl 79
Many of you people don't realise the true "catch" of this game.
Of course 1 single person will never ever be able to get to the higher levels and uber gear... alone.
Since the launch of this game It has passed what? 5 years? 6? Still there's people that don't understand the true conception of this game. This isn't a single player game, you are not suposed to get everything in this game alone. You need friends to reach the endgame goals. Even if you box 10 accounts you still can't do all the endgame stuff alone, even automatizing those 10 boxed accs.
You know why people bot so much in L2 West? Because they are greedy. And lazy. Russian people and Asian people don't bot (or at least don't bot as much as in L2 West) because they have a different point of view, also they have more players, wich can be turned in more playing groups and stuff.
West people are lazy. It's a common sense. Lineage 2 never suposed to be an easy game so I don't know why this game is still alive in West (maybe is because of the 3-4 or even more accounts that many players pays monthly, lol). Look at WoW. That game is much more easy than L2 and that's one of the reasons it is the most succeeded MMO ever.
But let's focus on L2. I agree with some people who says that competing with the older botters are unfair. But starting to bot as well isn't a solution. NC starting to want to do their job after 5 years by baning new naive botters isn't a solution either. So what would be a solution?
It's simple, in my opinion. Make Lineage 2 to be reborned. How? Add stuff in the game that will allow almost everyone to reach the same level and gear-wise to a point that everyone would be like that everyone are level 1: Make everyone lv 85 with full gear (adding easy quests etc). After that point is reached, if NCSfot really want to enforce their EULA, start to hire more competent programmers to stop the 3rd party software fest. Hire more GM's to be in each server (visible GM's btw) policing the game, walking around the full world map looking for suspicious people etc.
With all that set, L2 would be reborned. Adding new areas, level cap to 90 (or something), more stuff in general. Enforcing the EULA religiously, so no one would get away. It would be a new Lineage 2 era. And I would gladly help to spread the word and make Lineage 2 the best MMO ever.

Hi, you are wrong. I have rerolled to a new char when the old one was 81/79 and its currently 83.
I dont use and never used any Walker, and i exp like 2 hours a day atm even if im online 16h :D
Games supposed to be fun. Im not a carebear who like to hang around in town and roleplay all day. And Im not lazy, and Im not gonna and moan to get a clan to give me stuff I dont like to owe people stuff.
Out of experience Russians and Greeks have much greater tendencies to bot and cheat.
The more time you spend legit the more time wasted. 90% of end game players are unlegit and they wont stop being unlegit because you are legit. Doesnt it aggrovate you when you see some pompous lvl 85 botted char with s80 gear and vesper weapons? Im not ready to be some loser in some nobody clan doing nothing while these people living high life (in lineage 2)

If they would have retroactively made 79 a proper progression from 78, 79-85 wouldn't be as ridiculous as it currently is.

Seriously... At least be believable. Many of us here are not shy of admitting we spend excessive amounts of time in game, but 2 hours a day is like 1% a day at 79 (for some/many) people, which means just that level will take like 3 months to do.
If you rerolled like 1.5 years ago, then maybe it would be believable... If you had some help in the lower levels and people are loaning you all your equipment to level.

If you played Tyrant for 3 years since Interlude and you are still lvl 78, using 3rd party programs won't help you to compete.

Korean team designed L2 WITH events too.
Part of xp/drops comes from grinding and quests,part from events.
On NA servers we only got outdated events,we could live better without them.
When we were having non-tradeble buff pots and summoned hats,Korean were having element stones/300 crys / mastery books and vesper weapons.
No wonder why the legit players are 85lvls with +30 skills-they did reached their chronicle goal-.
As far as we will continue play this game without his full content,game will keep failing.

These days I see more ppl using ranger/control to help in pvp than ppl botting. It's amusing in oly when ppl never lose target against adventurers.

I don't think it's a cultural thing. Knowing how Americans cheat on Aion and Ultima Online, I don't see why L2 US would be cleaner without EU players.

I do like the idea of free transfer to server closer to home..
in my opinion,and only my opinion, ppl botting dont bother me, i dont get hungup on seeing trains run past me in towns(dont see this asmuch anymore) etc....tho they used too when u couldnt even get a quest mob for all the "autos" running around lol..i still enjoy the game,alot,can find plenty of mobs to hunt,maps huge now compared to beta..most ppl i feel bot to lvl thesedays, now radar a different story..that i do have sour grapes about...
if u see someone on "auto pilot" so what? its a game..dont get stressed over it..NCsoft are banning....wife stresses me enough!

i dint bot, i had a good team to work with people that connected my hours.
I got lucky i geuss for a while, there's downsides to that story too, but still.
Yeh if u put u'r back into it, yes u can be 80 in a year, i started a tyrant before christmass it's 70 now, i will have no problem whatshowever to get
it to 80 by next christmass or at least 78-79'ish
and i dont play over 2-3 hours a day annymore since i have a new job

I have to agree with washtak. Take for example a clan which has players from many different countries and they cheat.
Having Euros in 1 server and US in another isn't very appealing. It might be better regarding the timezone etc but, I think it's better to be mixed 'cause you get to meet people from different countries (not only EU countries) and that's something I like. :)

Don't care for exhausting explanations. Point is that what you wrote made it sound like you rerolled form a 79-81 toon and got to 83 playing 2 hours a day. You should have worded yourself better. It was ripe for misinterpretation.
If you are lvl 78 after years and see no way out but botting, then its not only the games fault.
Sure it became all about botting and stuff, but if you cant even hit 79, you couldnt stand 85 legit too.
Some people play other MMORPG games as well, and there are people who actually do play 2 hours a day and will probably never see 83.
Take into consideration that there is very little reason to play L2NA right now (with the low server populations, server imbalances, discriminating content, bad raiding content, etc. etc.), and many people will just give up.
No one likes to spend that amount of time playing a dead game.
And to expand on my "dead game" content... MMORPG games die long before the servers shut down (see DAoC). They are kept running as long as humanly possible, as long as they are marginally profitable to the companies running them. Those companies do not care if you are literally wasting your time and money on the game, as long as it gets funneled to them. They actually prefer when the game is dead, because it lowers their support and maintenance requirements/costs.
Again, nationality doesn't matter on the cheating aspect. Americans bot too.

Lots of US clans who were full of legit players got pushed to non-factor status because they wouldn't start doing it after the server saw an influx of Greek and Euro servers
Like I said... Not all, but a majority of them cheat. It's pretty common knowledge, if you look at the more populated Euro Servers, and if you look at how Luna progressed from Launch up until now.

lol, that would never have happened, L2 is way too much of a hard and grinding game for it to have beaten WoW by any standard.
You know why people bot so much in L2 West? Because they are greedy. And lazy. Russian people and Asian people don't bot (or at least don't bot as much as in L2 West) because they have a different point of view, also they have more players, wich can be turned in more playing groups and stuff.

I had what it took to be legit. I grinded to 78 without vitality which didnt exist back in the day. I played like 8-12 hours aday just sitting infront of monitor clicking mobs. People thought I was a bot because of that lol.
Was 110% legit but couldnt do when it came to boss jewels and s grade gear.

There were always possibilities to earn legit money, I for example started with the capital of a sold SoM, bought GSS, sold S Gems and was able to craft 2 AMs at 78 (after 5 fails)
After that I farmed Fire Stones on IoP on the way to 79+ and traded them for an MA set and complete Drac Sets+Bows for me and my gf.
Nowadays with vitality, epic quest, countless AoE spots is so freaking easy to make a legit 83+
And with all the new possibilities of getting s80 armor and weapon recs/mats its even easier to equip yourself as well as make enough money to afford epics (ok you wont get the 8bil for an Antharas within a week but still)

We were one of the strongest clans on our server and only started losing cause our competition started to bot and buy 78 buffers that were rare back then. I left my clan cause the other guys decided to compete they would have to start running trains to get 78 buffers as well.
Guess what, today I'm still legit, 84 with nearly all the equipment I want, 3 subs 79+ (the same for my gf); and my former clanmates and enemies are...76-80 and either banned or "quit of boredom".

Disagree,no aoe spots,no freaking easy to be legit 83+ and good geared at all,unless if this is a 5+ years active old toon and you were always in top clan that geared u or if you only xp and farm to sell items.Today we dont consider having dynasty armor/weapon as good geared ofc,this was last years.
The end in your story tells all,once enemys understood that wining in pvp means having also high buffers and started to make trains and raise them(cause not many active buffers/supports who didnt quit once a while available)-and then again,use programs to ''boxed'' them ,legit clans became a myth.
No clan likes to loose constantly in battles/sieges cause enemys ''box'' and dont get banned,but that what was happening all these years and an L2 industry was created with powerleveling,botting for adena,selling chars.....
I'm also 84 and here,most of my enemys sold toons/banned/bought new toons and always get hero and some of them never got banned.
What hurts me the most is when i see a toon which was clannie and did together events/partys,or someone in friendlist who was constantly talking/xping with me,just pass by with untagged or join enemys clan...i dodnt even wonder why anymore,its obvious toon was sold and new buyer doesnt know us.And the original buyer never was a true clannie/friend,was there only to make lvs/items and then cash them.
If I see a bunch of farmers botting in one spot, and a formerly legit player walking next to them with a botted buffer, guess who I will report? Certainly not the farmers.

dynasty +6 or rare is considered current top gear,but no legit player had the money to constantly craft and oe to get them.
i dont know which server are you playing and how often you raid Tiat,on Frantz server is usually droping icarus pole weapons.......havent drop a mage weapon for more than 6 months and the 1 and only vesper weapon was again.......a pole!
i dont even comment your fog party aoe idea on 83lvl .
game with common weap/armors/npc buffs and almost no players in low lvls makes you lvl easy toons untill b/a grade.
after s grade your problems start.....
all current 85lvls were botting at arcana mobs/chimeres(who dont give xp anymore),or solo in pagans darkness with 3-4 oop buffers(and some special classes at tullys).
people now sell 82-83 toons,cause they see no way they can lvl them more,mobs become blue after 83,on previous update you could ''order'' your 85lvl toon.
Only with vitality events legit people will reach 84-85.

Because when a character plays itself, it's more efficient than you pressing macro buttons. They can Sit/Stand/Recharge/Recast Prophecy/Cleanse or Purify/Heal/Buff/Dance more efficiently and on a better timer than a real player, and it won't cost you any time, effort, or attention away from the leveling experience.
If all buffs lasted 40 minutes, prophecies lasted 10, and dances lasted 5, I'm guessing less people would bot their boxed buffers... That isn't that case, though, and when people have multiple buffers/dances they often find it annoying to manage them. It doesn't matter if anyone else thinks it's easy. "Works for me" has never worked as a way to detract this type of activity, so I don't know whyyou're trying to use it...

That's because the low levels don't matter. Getting to 76 was never hard. All you needed was a 58 PP and/or 6x SE (or WC) to get there.
The Grind is backloaded. It starts in S Grade. The backloaded grind wasn't an issue when themax level was 78 or 80, because those levels aren't far from 76. It became a problem when the max level went to 85 because 79 is an extraordinary level/xp wall and many people who don't have incredible playtimes cannot get past it in a reasonable timespan, allowing them to be left behind (far behind) by power gamers who sit in pefect groups for many hours a day leveling non-stop in the best XP spots.
It didn't help that NCSoft designs end-game content in a discriminating fashion. DDs could pick whatever element they wanted, for the most part, and IoP was easy for them at a lower level and gear level than for many other classes/archetypes, which allowed them to get in and farm HB faster. Classes like Necro and SH didn't have decent access to Divine/Dark or Earth/Wind stones for the longest time.
This affected PvP and PvE for those classes, and others. Poling MoS/Darkness/FoG/etc. is different when you have a 240 Attribute Set on with a 150 "rare" (at that time" attribute weapon to up your damage). That's when the "if you need to have support in party to pole, you're doing it wrong" (after the VR Nerfs) mantra became a common quip.
try polearming tullies or green room. its 1-2% an hour at 85 on a titan. you guys are wasting time crying on forums when you should be out polearming. in the next update you are gonna have to suck up to titans like me or warlords to xp you.

befriend a titan, but i would reccomend losing the atittude.
Getting to 76 has been trivial for years. What are you on. No one cares that getting to Max level was hard when the max level was 60/75/78. The fact is that since C5 or so, getting to 75 has been borderline trivial and the only thing stopping anyone from doing it was their playtimes or the fact that they rolled a fail class like Prophet or (in that time, at least for leveling...) Overlord.
Any DD with a VR Buffer (58 SE and Haste Pots), Archer with a 5x PP, or Nuker with an SE could do it... Quite easily.

I don't cheat! I downloaded the game to play for the fun of it and never removed or added any files! If I have any computer issues; I always contact NC support and we worked it out.

Fail of the ages is only when you stop having fun and stop playing as an honest player. The" Phoenix Role Player Big Shot Community" are constantly calling me a failure ,but I seem to always run across a lot of cool players in game with how I play. I never received the Lineage 2 book that confirmed or denied that the amount you spend on your toon was a success or a failure.
With an MMORPG it's really not about how much you do or don't spend on your toon,contrary to what that group on Phoenix that I mentioned above thinks. It's about making friends and having fun. Not all players log in to "Role Play" that they are the top Dogs on a Server.
Both of my A grade toons are in common gear and they could be in C grade till 80+ and it wouldn't bother me none one bit. Want to know why? Because it's like I stated and how Isa said it. It's all about having fun and meeting cool people from all over for me.
Hi everybody. I played a tyrant legitly for three years. It became lvl 78. Played from interlude to what ever chronicle it was 3 years after that.
I hated bots and abusers. I felt powerless when these cheaters owned me and my hard earned character.
It is obvious that no new players will get into the loop without botting these days. And lvl 80+ players will get bpred and quit.
And somehow right now the GMs are starting to do stuff. Why now? Its to late. GMs think they are doing the playerbase a favour. Well its like feeding a dead hamster.

I have no problems with bans as long as there are consistency.

How many toons per server can do that at the same time?
Well,1 hero titan from the top pvp clan of server may set his oop buffers there and xp with 2-3 friends using valor,that's not called a place for aoe partys.
