Write about the days when you first started playing Lineage II to win a participation prize and a chance to get even more prizes as a winner! All of the prizes are real-life Lineage II items such as t-shirts, figurines, posters, and other classic swag that belongs with the players. It's easy and fun, and you will get rewards for writing about your early days! Read the Nostalgia Contest (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2010/06/nostalgia_conte.html) page for more information.
Your entry, in essay format, within the following parameters:
"
-The essay must make references to both in-game and out-game events surrounding your personal experience and development of love for Lineage II, and character development.
-There may be absolutely no mention of any forms of violations of EULA or actions taken against EULA-offenders."Sace with full respect that is really hard quest!
How you can write about Lineage not mention about bots/farmers/RMT/cheat - even in context, fun in game!
How can I write about my Teon history not mention about PeaceCountry (famous Chinese farmers clan) and fights in AntNest?
How can I write about wars not mention fun from enemies cached on auto rez?
How not to mention 1st time when got PK by someone who called me "bot" just because as poor nuker and haven't use SS
How can I write anything about game not mention first time when I found my friends on bot and couldn't understand what is going on?
Sace that is game you represent ... even if you don't like it - that is L2 :p

I completely understand how this part of the essay parameters could make things difficult. However, it is really easy to work around them by simple being more vague. Instead of saying specifics like "CheaterBot pk'ed me because he was using Ranger, and I hear he buys adena too," you can say stuff more like: "an unsavory player defeated me in a most suspicious way and he has earned himself a place on my block list. Players like these have made for some very difficult times in Lineage II, especially once my Clan explained to me how they work." Basically, no names and no direct references to third-party programs or cheats.
Rofl, wish I woulda saw what epicness was in this post before it got edited
Definitely screenshotted it because I knew the outcome of that post. I asked Sace if she wanted to go on a date with me in heine, so I could write a story about it for the contest. :(
Well, I guess that counts me out. Been playing since 2004 and have lots of good memories.. but now that I live in New Zealand, guess I'm kinda screwed :(
Write the paragraph: "If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown and any comments which I may make about myself and/or this Contest that I may provide for advertising and promotional purposes. By submitting an entry to this Contest, I accept and agree to be bound by the Lineage II Nostalgia Contest Official Rules and Conditions as displayed on the Lineage II Website."
Please note that, if you are among the top five winners, the following parts of your entry will be posted on the Lineage II website:
* Your essay, with title
* Your real-life first name
* Your character name and server
* The screenshot of your character
* Your photograph (if you chose to provide one)
They don't respect anonimity anymore in this world? I hate you facebook and all your children, die in a defacement.
Too bad the prize are great.

Ok the GM's might let you guys on U.S. military bases do this ,if you put a home address that's stateside. That way they can mail prizes to that place and then you have that person mail it to you. For example, if I was still on active duty Army and stationed in South Korea, I could possibly use my family's stateside address and then whatever prizes were to get sent would go there. Then family could just forward it to my base in South Korea.
Like I said the GM's might go for that . In order to let U.S. service members who play this game , take part in the event.

I DIDNT type anything that could be censored... why are there 4 in there!????
I just wanted to remind you that this contest is still going on until July 14, 2010. Several people have already submitted entries, but there are over 70 prizes total, including participation prizes for anyone that makes a valid entry!
If you're eligible to participate, simply write an essay about your experience of when you first started playing Lineage II, and send in a screenshot of your character along with some other information.
Everyone that is an eligible participant will receive a free Lineage II t-shirt and 3 posters! This contest is easy, fast and fun, so please take a few minutes to send an entry! :D
I have a question too, how do you know the sex of the participant? I mean, if he/she has won a T-shirt, then which T-shirt do you send him/her if they haven't told you their sex? >.<

Details on t-shirt size or type will be addressed after the contest entry period closes and the winners are assessed. We need to have assessed the prize package winners before we know who gets a participation prize only. At that time, we will confirm the mailing addresses and also ask about size or prize preference (if your winning placement has those choices).
Actually, we do have a very limited quantity of "female" shirts. See the picture here (http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae51/NCSace/tshirts.jpg?t=1276114287), the smaller ones with the shorter sleeves are babydoll cut. Because of the limited quantity on these, the top winners will get first picks of those (if they want one or not, what size according to the sizes we have, etc). After we run out of female shirts or the size you would want, then we have a ton of "male" shirts, which could also be called unisex. Personally I've tried on both and a small or medium "male" shirt fits fine too.
Once the winners are assessed, everyone that participated will be notified and told what choices of size, t-shirt type, and other potential choices they can make. I should warn you that it will take several days to get everyone's prizes sorted and mailed out. I will be swamped in emails, boxes, envelopes, packaging, tape and stamps. :D
1000 characters seems to little for me :( . At first I began writing a whole story about my character which I intend to finish , maybe post it on the forum. Then I wrote only around 2000 but it was way over and even so I still had something to add from the short 2-3 month period.I hope I managed to write everything needed.

It's 700 to 1000 words not characters. :D You should have a little over one page of word document filled, and certainly more than one paragraph.

Ooo! I want one Sace wore! LOL
Only 1000 words to be nostalgic over a five year period is tough, especially with the difficulty of those early years. Let's face it, there were a lot of trials and tribulations back then. Getting to level 40 was quite a feat and OMG getting to B grade!?!? Perma reds outside almost every village, camping Floran Village to grief 'em back, active clan wars and just venturing to all the new areas as you leveled up not knowing if you're gonna live or die. Yep, most of us could write a small book about the early days as we all learned the ropes.
I agree 1000 words is too little to give an accurate description of L2...but then again, I guess I won't have to worry about it since I live in VA, and being a commonwealth state, I guess I am excluded... :(
Boooo!

Darn wish those 'female' shirts existed when I was given one 2 years ago :p
They look 'hot' :) But hey I'm happy with my 'male' version ^^ it's still LII FTW :D

/ agreed... Memories, memories memories ^^ Very fond memories in my case :D
More than one picture: We will only be posting one picture with each essay. If you send multiple pictures, I will pick which one to post.
EDIT: Got an idea, you can make multiple images into one image, like a collage. That would result in your pictures being smaller, though. But, it's still a loophole. ;)
1000 words limit: I understand that some people could write volumes about their experiences. I chose the 1000-word because, when the top 5 winning essays are posted on the website's contest page, if they are too long I worry that many people would find them "tl;dr" and then your winning essay would go unread. Of course, I do know that there are many people who would love to read the full story, too. :)
How about this: write the 1000 words max version for this contest, and if you want to write a longer version, do so and post into the Fan Fiction section of the forums. Then if your essay is a top 5, I will link to the "full version" from the winning essays page on the website. That way anyone that is captivated by your contest submission can read the full length story free of any and all contest-related "limitations." ;)

It must be in english right ? You cant translate it yourself ;pp??
I really want t-shirt and my english is bad ! ^^
My gf wants to get a key-chain but she is Japanese so doesn't qualify, if i understand the criteria correctly, so she has already stated that if i get one it's hers xD.... wonder if i can enter more then once to get more then one key-chain ><
Yes it must be in English. From your forum posts, your English seems very good, though. As long as the message is understandable, it will qualify, and if it is a top 5, any spelling or grammar errors will be corrected before it is posted.
Don't forget, folks, only 1 more week until the entry period closes! There are still dozens of prizes unclaimed and it's easy to win! Take a few minutes to write a quick 700-1000 word essay about your early days of Lineage II and you will automatically receive at least a free Lineage II t-shirt and 3 posters!
Entry period closes July 14th! Don't miss your chance to get your participation prize! :D
I made my story in rtf file, when i want send it i will have to connect this file to my e-mail or i copy the text from the rtf file to the mail's text box?

The Nostalgia Contest entry period is now closed. Over the next week I will be reading and assessing essays be eligible contestants. After that, I will ask other NCWest employees to read a small, top selection of essays and help me determine the hierarchy of winners.
According to that hierarchy, I will email everyone and let you know what placement and prizes you get. At this time I will also ask for your t-shirt sizes (higher placement gets first choice in sizes), which prize type you want (this is for those that get keychains - there are limited quantities of each), and to verify your mailing address. Once I get your response, I will mail out your prize! :D If every thing goes smoothly and emails are responded to promptly, you should have your prizes within a month!
I'm sorry, I've been so busy with the Freya PTS preparations. I have read all of the entries and am waiting for some co-workers to assess the top selection. :)
Also, I will not be posting the winners list onto the website page until all of the top 5 winners have emailed with their winner's release form back to me.
However, once a winner list is decided, I will post it into this thread by title of the story. (This will keep the list somewhat anonymous, in case some players don't want their ranking displayed.)
The other day i got an email stating it was from ncsoft asking me to verify my address, but my firefox flagged it as a reported site... just wondering if that was actually legit ? and if so could you resend the email lol! (im suspicious because i get so many badly types emails trying to blatently steal my accounts)
Just checked my blackberry and retrieved a copy of the email...seems it was trying to direct me to ncsoft.net or something along those lines (i wont post the real link for fear of someone losing their account out of curiosity.)
Yeah its getting ridiculous, at one point 3-4 weeks back i was recieving 4-5 emails a day trying to steal my "aion" account or lineage 2, but the spelling was so awful, now they seem to be getting wiser
If you're getting an email that don't know why it was sent (like, you didn't change your password, so why are you getting an email saying you did), don't click on the links! You can easily verify whether this is a scam or not by going to the website yourself without getting there through other peoples' links. Use the official website.
As far as the Nostalgia contest goes, the message itself will look similar to the receipt emails you got when I received your entry, and will a reply to the email that you sent me. :)
Alright everyone, the winners list has been settled! :D There are so many touching, funny, cute, and engaging stories in this contest. But reading all of the entries, the winning essays stood out brightly! Congratulations to everyone that participate, you did wonderful work!
In this list, I will only write down the name of the contestant's essay (so that most participants can remain anonymous if they choose). Any and all contestants that received a receipt email from me saying that their entry is eligible will soon be receiving another email with details on claiming your prizes. The winners list and the top 5 winning essays will be put onto the website later on, once winners have sent back their release documents.

Very cool and very interesting! I was chosen first-place out of the fifth-place of the qualified winners ("The Phoenix Warrior Against All Odds"). My essay will be one of the five that are displayed on the official website. :-) I wonder how much better everyone else's assays were then mine was. They must have been spectacular! Congratulations to everyone! Thank you everyone for reading and/or voting for me. It's very much appreciated! :-)

But still have my eye on those amazing keyrings. I checked out the NCSoft shop and there were none on sale there. Are there plans to sell the merchandise that you could win in this competition in the shop at some point?
i am amazed at how much you liked that smittie, i however did not enter it into the contest as i believe the religous parts of my stories are probably anti-EULA. i do appreciate the views and all, maybe i will write a few more soon!
@ MiniNitro: I'm sorry, but your essay won't be posted on the website. The top 5 essays means 1st place through 4th, as there were 2 4th place winners. Your story was listed as 5th place. The 5 stories that will be displayed on the website are:

Exploring a Brand New World
Devilish Smile

RE: Keychain: These keychains were imported from Korea years and years ago. That's why we have such a limited supply of them (only 18, all going out to winners!). Sadly, I do not believe they are in production anymore. Hopefully NCWest or other Lineage II companies will get to make new cute swag items like this in the future. :)
RE: "Divine intervention in the world of Sayha." This was not a story that was submitted in the contest. If it were, I'm afraid it would not qualify as it is 100% role-playing style and doesn't have sufficient reference to the real-life events of the player/author.

To quote Melkhyn:
You must not have read it right.
The guy playing the destroyer in the story is a jew. And he named his toon TheHebrewHammer.
wish i still had that name. i left for teon and when i came back someone had taken the name. i have yet to see/hear about anyone with the name on sayha, so i am left to guess an enemy has a lvl 1 toon named hebrewhammer and thehebrewhammer. i thought about HebrevvHammer, but it just didnt look right.

Oh... I see. No prob. The fax is not working. Anyway heres my essay.
TITLE: "THE PHOENIX WARRIOR AGAINST ALL ODDS"
Born into the world of Aden with the strength of a child and the experience of an infant but we all grow. Putting in effort from the gods we will become soldiers protecting the greater good, while others chose to take the path of tyrants. Fighting for so long that we are tested by conquering our enemies into the ground, where they belong for their treachery making us heroes of our homelands of Aden. Every Hero has a story that begins, and unfortunately must end. When we disappear our legacy will never dwindle, because we will walk with the gods as ancient warriors that people will always talk about until the end of Aden.
My story began on May 4th, 2004. My first character that I started was a Dark Elf Knight. I had so many difficulties leveling a Dark Elf because she had very little health points. I kept dying because of my accessibility issues. I was not quick enough at that time to save myself from dying.
When I was 11 years old I fell from a 5-foot platform jumping in leaves and landed on my head breaking my neck. That fall instantly paralyzed me from the neck down. From that moment on, I was told that I would spend the rest of my life confined to a wheelchair. But I am a fighter, In and out of game! I do not let anyone take advantage of me or tell me that Iâm not capable of doing something because of my disability.
I had to learn how to play this game with what little experience and mobility that I have. For years I have been using a trackball mouse to operate the computer along with a device is called a mouthstick. The mouthstick is the most important device of everything I use. A mouthstick consists of a mouth grip that goes into my mouth, and I am able to clamp down on it with my teeth and control it with my lips and head movement. The center of the grip has a long stick, and at the end of it there is a flexible pointer that I can bend in any position. I bent it in a finger position. That way I can move the ball steering the cursor, and I click the mouse buttons by pressing them with the mouthstick. I type many different ways such as using a miniature keyboard by tapping keys with the stick. In combination of the mouthstick and the mouse I use an application by Microsoft for Accessibility, it is called "On-Screen Keyboard." I set the keyboard to "Key Hover," which means I steer the cursor over the desired keyboards letter and leave it there for a half a second, and it types the letter. That is how I operate the computer.
It took me quite a while to figure out how to work around my disability in order to play the game. I have been playing for six years, and Iâve loved every minute of it. I actually surprise everyone I meet in game because they cannot understand how someone with next to nothing movement, and is basically playing with one finger. Not to mention he is able to box all of his accounts to play. I even impress my friends and family.
When I first started playing this game I shared my disabilities and abilities with a few good friends and clan members. They were so impressed they would tell other people, and then they would tell more people and so on and so on. It got to the point that people were sending me so many private messages, and e-mails in game and on the forums. So I decided to post on the forums, talking about my disability, my life, how I play the game, my experiences and how I learned to play the game. The post exploded with more questions (that I answered) and people giving me a pat on the back and telling me to keep up the good work. I was asked by NCSoft to become the websiteâs next community spotlight of the month posting my interview. It was cool, because they asked about my experiences, and my character.
My main character was created on July 1st, 2004. He is an 81 Maestro, named MiniNitro. At first, I chose him because he had so many hit points. I needed a character to take a beating while I figured out how to become faster in this game to compete with able-bodied players. Eventually he grew on me and I could not stop leveling him! I enjoyed being able to take apart Mobs and even other players, together with my Mechanical Golem. I am able to solo Mobs so much stronger than me and even much taller. Ha ha. All of the new amazing areas that other races need a party to do as well as I do.
The most amazing part of this game for me is the people that I meet. The heart of this game was you can meet anyone in any part of the world. I have friends that I have been playing with just about every day for the last six years. Especially my best friend Letme. He is from Sweden. When we first started we were complete, low-level newbies and now we are high-level characters. Weâve become so close that he gave his newborn son my name as his middle name. If I never had met him or the other people that I call close friends I doubt I would still be playing. The first time in my life Iâm not ridiculed, talked down to or people treat me differently. When talking or playing with me I am treated just like everyone else with the same strength and ambition to rule all of Aden. That is why I love this game, and I will always be here until all of Aden crumbles.
Iâm sorry I respond so late, I was away.
First of all Iâm honoured that I got 3 place, thanks! :))
However I decide meanwhile to do at least brake with L2, which means I would like to not give my personal details and pic (story and screenshot are fine with me) so they can be published on website, cos it can confused ppl which will try to contact me in game while I wonât be playing anymore.
Since Iâm leaving game my last wish is to give my prizes to person who really deserve it and do so many good things lately to this game and community, and that person Its You Sace! Congratulations!! :D
I know You could probably have all these stuff anyway, but You mention before some of them are rare so Iâm hoping at least one thing from the list It will mean something to YouJ
L2 its still grate game, but after 3 years of playing it I feel like I need to let it go and at least I can try to do that in a good style ;D
Have a Fun All !!
