p.s wife must be after something...she acting all nice to me! lol:eek:
not really, sorry.
i have a gaming mouse, but no manual key mapping options, it relays directly to the number pad...
even this has improved gaming.

good luck, and try not to start auto hunting.:)
Before I have no idea what you are talking about, but after google I understand.
That is one beautiful gadget that your wife got you, a mouse and keyboard integrated together with hand rest that fits your hand.
Very very nice, thanks for sharing, really makes me want to get one.

You can't bot with Nostromo, outside of Assist Macro spamming and running your Recharger out of MP in < 5 minutes.

Hello,

I think I can see where there may be some confusion over our position on the use of hardware such as the Logitech G15, Nostromo or other programmable game devices. In actuality, our position regarding the use of these devices has never changed. It has always been against the rules when these devices are used to automate game play in a manner not possible through normal game play.

The best way to determine if how you are using these devices is a violation or not is by asking yourself “Can a normal keyboard/mouse combination replicate the same behavior?” If how you are using the programmable device can be done through a regular mouse/keyboard combination, then you won’t have anything to worry about.

One example I often hear of is spamming CP potions. These devices can be setup to endlessly spam CP potions with the push of a button. Repeatedly consuming CP potions is possible through the use of a regular keyboard by setting up a hotkey and just holding down the hotkey on the keyboard. The difference is if the programmable device is somehow able to detect the character’s CP level and automatically start spamming CP potions at a specific level and then automatically stop spamming the CP potions at a specific level.

There is a very distinguishable difference between using these devices to facilitate game play compared to using these devices to automate game play. We’re looking for and testing for the automation. If the character is found to be exhibiting behavior that cannot be replicated through the use of a normal keyboard/mouse setup, then the character is considered to be “botting” even if they are only using a programmable device like the Logitech G15 or Nostromo.

Will
i don't know how it works...
... i just know there is a way to do it.

well i hope you love your new tool.
i know it was just mentioned in the Orc mystic forums, if you wish to pm the user with loads of questions... but i also suspect that by now you've got the hang of the basics, and it's just fine tuning that needs to be done.

fine tuning always needs to be done, even with standard hot keys...

good luck.
yes gettin hang of it now....:D

only died once hehe - had 3 mobs beating down on my short A** - time for heal marco- pressed my "f4" ....nothing...wtf...hp's running out fast!...pressed "f4" again..nothing!..time to run!..sh*t..ran into more agro!.....ahh f**k, return to town is now on my screen..lol

have been using "f4" key for heal 5 yrs....in my wisdom i had changed this to "f1" yesterday:eek:

HGM Will basically sanctioned this hardware by making it a gray area, concerning automation of actions within the game.

Hardware with "out of game macro" support should NEVER be allowed. Only INGAME macro support should be allowed as the GM/Developers have finite control over ingame macros! These types of hardware/software products that are hybrid should never have been allowed. Because these products were allowed, players thought that they could extend past these gray points, and thanks to the blur in definition, they were able to use various other means of character automation.

Have ingame macros, allow them, but wipe out what is out of the spectrum of control for those that manage the game!

Spamming buttons is not ergonomic. Any game that shuns ergonomic devices (Like Nostromo, Gaming Mice, G10/15, etc.) because emos don't like getting owned by people who could afford to spend 35 bucks (price of original N52) is not one worth playing.

I'm not Paganini. I don't have time spanning my hands across the keyboard from F1 to F10 because you don't like it, and I certainly don't find it to entertaining to have to click 20 other buttons because they're on the second or third bar.

Maybe you haven't met anyone who suffers or suffered from CPS?

Translation... you couldn't do without a piece of hardware that gave you a software option to simplify what other players could have performed. This software made it easy to eliminate players that could have performed your needed tasks.

Says who? This is just your point of view.
you're right.
a point of view.

legit players view use of auto spam macro which you can get by using a device like nostromo... to be cheating.
because the macro does not get interrupted like in game macros.
sure, NC should have made their macros not get interrupted which would have allowed auto spam pots, but they didn't.

so, you're right, it's a point of view that is, or at least was widely shared among Legit players... since most legit players have left the game, maybe only nostromo users remain... in which i'm sure they won't ban you all.

Ncsoft already staded that cp spam is not cheating cause you can do it without the gamepad, and yes you can do it even without a macro. In the other hand a gamepad can't read your cp bar and AUTO spam cp pots and stop when its full like the radar/bot programs do.

By the time it was stated as not against the game rules, you choose to use it or not.

You cant do it the same way, with nostromo you can keep auto spam up and doing any action without have to care about anything else, also not even game macro's can be set for x.x time reuse like nostromo for that you need to click directly and you would ever get the optmized pots spam

Ofc it cant read you bar but when you have time to deal with everything thats a minor problem, that reminds me a dorf on a siege using nostromo was being hitted from messenger to the crest room without die, when we asked him how much cp pots he burned is answer was simple as "you would never believe i could carry so many"

What?

Cause running a Nostromo on this computer allows me to do anything to buffers that each run on their own computer system?

You're becomming a bit delusional. Down girl.

Doesn't matter. Playing the game without a mouse or gamepad that can be keybinded/programed is rediculous, given the price of these devices. Enter Chat/Keybinding is not enough. No serious gamer is without something that allows them to avoid reprogramming their keyboard, and no serious gamer wants to span their hand from F1 to F11/F12 to spam CP Pots. Not to mention the fact that Enter Chat and the keybinding didn't get introduced into the game client until 5 or so years after it was released...

The only people who complain about Nostromo are those that don't have one. The most common excuse for not having one is "I don't have money to burn on lolstromo" (but playing a video game... seriously?). Few people have a true moral opposition to those devices.

If I shipped an N52 to 99% of the people who complain about it, they'd be using it the minute it arrived. They'd prolly take the day off work to wait for it, eagerly...

Have fun manually spamming CP Pots with a Macro, though... I'm willing to bet 70-80% of the L2 playerbase uses a Nostromo, G10/G15, Sidewinder, or other such device.
anyone got any good tips?

This device is great, when your char uses three full rows of skills, you realize, that it is impossible to use combinations like "alt+7" to reach your skills, and you don't like "enter chat" function in the same time :)

Two best things you can do with this :) :

1) Macro repeated untill key pressed again

Press F11;
Press F12;
Delay 0.3 s;

And put big CP potion under F11 and small one under F12

2) Macros repeated only once:
Alt+1, Alt+2...

Also you can Assign Ctrl+F1, Ctrl+F2 etc, but personally I mapped Ctrl under one of mouse buttons.

If you play a buffer, possibilities are endless :P
Making Auto-Assist macros with Nostromo is a bannable offense, because it allow you to run a toon in an XP session when you aren't even in the same room with it... You don't even have to be in the same house to do that... It's bannable, and more than enough people have been banned from trying the "legit" botting strategy. It's not gonna work.

I'd recommend editing your post to take that out, personally.

Like anything... Give some people an inch, and they take a mile.

I have had my Nostromo for about 5 yrs, and i have the mouse in right hand, the nostromo in front of the pc keyboard with the wire off to the right side - quite comfortable i found, and i can still type if needed.

I have it setup as F7, F1, F2, F3, F4 across top row, and
F12, blank, blank, blank , F5

and the little red button is F10 (heal pot!)
I have the thumb x control set to press down for CTRL so i can use CTRL-F(something) for forced skills :d

F3 is my primary skill, F2 secondary and F4 is pickup.

If you pm me an email address, i can send you my setup file.

I think its time for players to adapt to the gamepads/gamemouses/gamekeyboards reality, they came to stay and more and more games are embracing they'r usage, you can't buy a brand new? buy a second handed one by half of the price :).

that function is not supported by NcSoft.

That delay is the time you keep the button pressed then release it, the game suports it else you would not be able to use your keyboard you just can't see it happening :).

Wow, you're bad.

You can put delay in in-game macros...

Please know what you're talking about before you comment.

And yes, Nostromo takes it further by allowing you to go down to the hundredth of a second IRT delays.
For you that think nostromo/g15 is badass

And its not even Hardware controlled, but the software to set it who perform the actions, same for any macro device, so really tell me where is the difference between that and put a java macro to do the same?

Nc would call the Java program a illegal tool, but ppl complain here about Nostromo when it can do things impossible to use without such tools.

For me is simple as Nc have ways to disable such macro's, they should be disabled period.

Or Cp Pots should have a higher and fixed reuse time, others just defend CP Pots should not exist, and i also can understand and support in some part that way.

nice tip thx m8.
on side note, having spent a few days gettin to grips with the stromo, comming back and reading through this tread, i'm dissapointed to see thread desending into a "cheating" thread :(.

in my opinion, community needs to lighten up abit, instead of flaming and bickering like my 5-6yr old kids at every opportunity lol:rolleyes:

but NC doesn't support delay 0.3, it's all round numbers.
although i used to receive a delay 0 error, did they fix that? or remove it?

note i never once said /delay is not available in in game macros, just said 0.3 is not.
In retrospect I like using my nostromo because it is easy on my hand when I play so many hours a day. The number keys and reaching starts to suck on a regular keyboard after a while.

sorry, it's my fault, i dropped the auto hunting comment early on in the thread, although it was meant as a friendly reminder...
the mere mention of botting always brings things a bit out of hand.

i'm glad you're getting the hang of it, having a tool like this makes the game quicker and easier not having to reach across the board to hit a key...

i mentioned that i am currently using a gamer mouse with number pad 1-12, helps minimize the number of keys i have to hit with my left hand while using the mouse to move/select targets.

So why mention it at all.
So why mention it at all.

i take the concept of botting as a joke, especially based on the history of NCsoft enforcement policies.
i've got a rather dry sense of humor, and like to throw the term around lightly.
when it comes to Nostromo, there is always an undertone of "this device can be used to break the in game macro system, allowing for auto hunting, or auto spamming cp/hp"

not the fault of any specific user, but the device itself.
so, i like to joke about it.

now, i didn't just say Nostromo means Bot... that's not my style, i made a constructive post which also happened to elude to the undertone.

Depends on the context? Often times if you don't directly inquire from the person involved you don't get the clear meaning of the issue. Long time ago I learned by a pre-school librarian that judging a book by its cover is not a good characterization behind the story. But then again I could take the route of NCSoft, and gather the second side of the story by calling people out when editing there posts or simply deleting it, which would bring less scrutiny to why a reason would be needed to edit a post. But then again I graduated from a school of higher education and would have just engaged the person like a professional in a private message to get at the root the problem now. But that's just my take.
so what you're saying is...
you like my new sig?
i was hoping it wasn't too over the top.

It's not our fault that NCSoft's game client functions as if it's 5 years older than the original EverQuest client. Those game devices exist to make games more ergonomic and allow people to play these types of games that require repetitive button mashing for long amounts of time without experience the type of strain and breakdown that lots of people did in the past.

To ban Nostromo/G15 is equivalent to a game company telling me they don't care about my health, and I cannot support such an entity.

I can give two [censored][censored][censored][censored][censored] what people like you say about it. It's not 100% about getting a competitive advantage. If CP Pots had a higher reuse time, people would still use the Nostromo to chain them. I use Nostromo to chain Healing Potions/Greater Healing Potions during seige so I can run Arcane Power all the time without worrying about basically killing myself. They have a 10+ second reuse... I use it to press corpse burst every 0.1 seconds when AoEing, as well

You're not making a great point.

you exploit your nostromo to break the in game macro system...

that's admitting that you're cheating, thats some bad mojo, might as well admit to ebaying adena or using radar...

whoa...
Found out why wife was so nice to me lately.....around 7.30 am this morning i hear a loud Knock on the door.....made me jump the height of myself while i was grabing my morning fix of caffeine!.
opened door to find 2 young lads, the size of a pencile, carring a leather sofa the size of my house up my drive..lol...u had to see it..

wife says the "old sofa", only 4 months old by the way, didn't go with the new wallpapper i hung......she had me redecorate the front room to go with our then "new sofa" 4 months ago lol

back on topic..got the stromo working a dream now guys...thx for the good tips ;)

so what you're saying is...
you exploit your nostromo to break the in game macro system...

that's admitting that you're cheating, thats some bad mojo, might as well admit to ebaying adena or using radar...

whoa...

How does one exploit Nostromo?

It has nothing to do with the in-game macro system. It has to do with the game client itself. It's a terrible game client, and the Lineage II gameplay is equally terrible (click to move coupled with bad physics).

The gamepad allows me to play long sessions in MMORPG games without feeling like I'm putting my health at risk. Please look up the term "ergonomics."

The Macro function is a nice bonus, and works well. Nostromo Macros cannot exploit the game. All they do is press buttons. If they game doesn't allow a button to be spammed that fast, then the extra presses from Nostromo won't do anything. The fact that my CP Pot button uses a delay of 0.01 seconds means absolutely nothing if the internal cooldown on CP Pots is > 0.01 seconds. I just use an extremely low number to get the max amount of pots spammed as possible.

Using Nostromo to spam CP Pots is not an exploit. You should look that word up, as well.

Last reply to you. You're not smart... To put it nicely.
i like this

what i mean is, in game macro system gets interrupted if any other action is performed, that is how they designed it.
by using an out of game macro system, you are breaking the system, therefore cheating.

that is why i said exploiting, sure, not like it's a bug, it was designed to do that sort of thing, but it's still a third party software that allows it.

this argument has been posed so many times, and there are two sides, those who are for it, and those who are against it... so i'll never change my mind, and you will never budge until you've been banned.

That macro wont work anywhere with aggro mobs lol.

No, you cannot bot with a nostromo.
what you dont know any places with non agro/social mobs ?
not that are worth exping in no.

And like someone said, go afk with that and someone will surely kill u.

There's a command you can insert into your in-game macros to stop button presses from interrupting them. Learn to play.
There's a command you can insert into your in-game macros to stop button presses from interrupting them. Learn to play.

Hmmm this i hear for first time.

http://www.lineage2.com/guide/macros.html

Stopping a Macro
In the event that the user carries out some action directly while performing a macro, the respective macro stops immediately. This includes speaking in the chat channels and moving the character.
There's a command you can insert into your in-game macros to stop button presses from interrupting them. Learn to play.

yes, yes...
please enlighten us.

with this new command, all Rants about Nostromo shall become invalid.
is there also a way to add a macro into another macro?
because, this is another Nostromo function which i believe is possible to break the in game macros with..
You can't chain macros by embedding one macro in another in Lineage II. It's not hard to find out. Log in game and try to put a macro in another macro (by referencing it's location on the bar as a shortcut) and it will tell you you can't do it.

Nostromo can only chain macros by making it delay until the first macro is done with. You basically have to know how long each macro lasts to chain them. The best way to do that is to set two toggles and start one after the other ends, that way they are somewhat chained. You'll still need the delays set somewhat liberally to prevent clashes, though.

And please, tell me how the **** does Nostromo break the game, or it's macros. You keep using these terms, but you have yet to qualify your use of them.

I don't even know why I'm giving you the satisfaction of a reply. Nostromo is a supported device. When the game broke Nostromo, NCSoft fixed it. I think even Korean players will have an issue if NCSoft was to start blocking the Nostromo, and quite a few player on this side of the pond would quit instantly.

Same goes for G15, etc.

I stand corrected on the command. I thought it was there but it isn't. In any case, that's part of the issue with the game client/in game macro system to begin with. It is like something from 1999, and in need of a fairly comprehensive revamp. Gameplay in Lineage II is terrible, that is why those devices (Nostromo, etc.) play such a pivotal role. The game is painful (figuratively and literally) to play without them.

NCSoft has approved Nostromo and given a fairly clear response as to which uses are allowed. Why are you even arguing about it?

where?
last i heard, NC allowed only use of Nostromo device to click the keys in favor of a keyboard... not to use Nostromo macros.

the Nostromo Macro system is third party software, i keep saying Break, because it is breaking the rules(coded rules) of the in game Macro.
it is giving you more control, which is nice, and i can see the appeal...
and... when NCsoft updates the in game macro system to be on the same level as Nostromo... that will be the day that use Nostromo macros will nolonger be breaking the in game Macros; when it will become one with the system rather than an exploitable device.

like i said before, there are two points of view on the topic, people who think it is ok, and not cheating, and people who believe it is cheating.

there is no argument that can be posed to make either side bend.

maybe some day NC will update the macro system...
maybe some day they will Block Nostromo software...

who knows.
either way, i'm done, i have nothing more to say, and i'm pretty sure i've repeated myself enough in this thread to prove that you will not bend on your stance, due to the fact that you keep asking for me to repeat myself.
You can't chain macros by embedding one macro in another in Lineage II. It's not hard to find out. Log in game and try to put a macro in another macro (by referencing it's location on the bar as a shortcut) and it will tell you you can't do it.

sorry to multi post, but i felt i should respond to this.
i am aware that in game macros won't allow you to chain macros, what i was saying was, Nostromo devices do allow you to chain macros, thus once again breaking the rules of the in game macro system.
No, you cannot bot with a nostromo.
You can, but it's not a very good idea.

Please show me a link to the rules of the in game macro system.

There are no rules.

What you're referring to are the actual mechanics of the macro system. The machanics, as in, how they function.

If Nostromo functioned equivalently to how macros in the games you play functioned, what would be the use of it.

Nostromo doesn't BREAK anything. Nostromo does not EXPLOIT anything IRT Macros in this game. Do you have any clue what you're talking about? Maybe the meaning of that post was lost in Google Translation?

A person can chain macros simply by pressing them over and over again, but no one wants to do that ****. You don't even need a Nostromo to chain macros. You can do that with standard productivity mice these days. The ones that have multiple buttons, like Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000.
You can, but it's not a very good idea.

You can't really bot with a Nostromo. Bot comes from the word robot, because the characters are allowed to function without human intervention, that's impossible with Nostromo.

The only reason why the (prohibited) auto-assist Nostromo macro loops work is because there is always at least a live player on the main assist toon. If you put your main and a couple of DDs on Nostromo in a Pagan Anteroom and walk away from the computer, they'll probably be dead when you get back. Unless the MOBs are all blue to them, and they all have full dark resist sets, they'll probably be dead within 5 minutes because In-Game Macros + Nostromo aren't anything like a bot program.

Your toon will bounce from mob to mob, fail to kill any in a factorable period of time, and die... Then the assist DDs will get agroed and die. Since Nostromo has no capacity to sniff packet data or make decisions in game, your support classes won't know when/who to heal/recharge/buff/rez and chances are they will die as well.

They'll probably die before they manage to clear the room once.

There is a max distance on /target so if you're in a field your characters will spend a large amount of their time standing in one spot waiting for mobs to spawn, especially if it's a nuker or archer. In some areas the target switch nature of Nostromo-spammed NextTarget/Attack Macros can kill the character off the bat (within 5 minutes).

The closest to botting anyone will ever get with Nostromo, is a live player with Nostromo spamming Assist/Attack on boxed DDs. It's simply neither efficient nor possible in most cases to AFK XP with it.
wife just bought me a new n52te (nostromo). What a difference its made, so much easier to 2 box.....tho using my lefthand is gettin abit of used too.where has this keybad been all my life!:D

anyone got any good tips?

p.s wife must be after something...she acting all nice to me! lol:eek:

If you have Windows 7 you can use Windows Key and a number that corrisponds to the number on the task bar of the windows you want to change windows fast. like if you have 2 L2 clients open and they are numbers 6 and 7 icons on your task bar you can use Windows key + 7 to change to window 7 and you could make a macro that will do windows key + 7 , press F12 , windows key + 6 , so if window 6 is your main char and window 7 is your 2nd char you can have it flip screen hit F12 and flip back and then you make an in game macro on F12 to do whatever you want like recharge, assist whatever. Makes 2 boxing so much easier and faster. You basically playing both chars you just make the window change assist or heal or recharge whatever a bit faster.

Also you can do all this with your normal keyboard and mouse you just might not be as fast pressing windows key + 7 , press F12, windows key + 6 as a macro keyboard/keypad can do it but you can do it all with normal keyboard so according to GM Will's post on the subject its legal.

This will not work with Windows XP or Windows Vista though you need the new taskbar functionality of Windows 7 to do it like this.

to be fair, I do this with an in-game macro on the 2nd pc.
F8 =
/target %party1
/assist
/useskill spoil (or something like that)

F9 =
/useskill sweep
/target %party1
/target %party1

for when I 2-box my spoiler - not very often, but it doesn't need any tools/aids.
the N52 is purely for my main PC. - all characters i play have the same generic F key layout.
F3 primary skill, F2 secondary skill, F4 pickup, F10 heal pot, F5 tertiary skill.
and variations of that- so i can use the N52 on almost all toons.
