Guys, i dont know in other servers, but on Phoenix everybody is experiencing lag spikes. My screen froze for like 10-15 seconds. And its not me. All my party. When its happen with the healer...bb AOE party. Anybody having this issue also? Can NCSOFT pls explain whts happening?
I think it's because there are large numbers of connections because of the 2 events that currently running. This is concerning because the numbers connected are still less than the 3000 target number stated as the need for server merges.
I suspect L2 "servers" are virtualized servers that are running off the Aion array and have been given appropriate resources to handle our current "normal" traffic load, I really hope they are planning on giving the merged servers more resources in order to handle the load.
At least until it settles back into around 800 or so connections again after 2 months of merged populations.
Teon has been having freezing issues, even on low population times. My guess is its because of this event, or prepping for the Freya PTS/Server update.
On Bartz it was bad as well. I ended up playing another game last night becuase the lag was so bad becuase of the small increase in players on the server for the event. They better have this fixed before they merge the servers.
Well, its from before the event. Its not something new. And its happening with everybody. Everynight i die for mobs on AOE becouse the healer freeze and die lol. Its curious, becouse the screen just freeze for 10-15 seconds. Its not a normal delay like u press and after some seconds u move.
here i thought the lag spikes were strictly on my end.
although some of the big ones were server side, i figured it was in preparation to release the PTS. as the servers usually lag when PTS is about to be released.
Doesn't the lag always go up right before the launch the PTS. I seem to remember it getting laggy every time they got ready to open the PTS.
On the positive side, the PTS coming online is a good thing (if that is actually the case)
It would make sense since I suspect that L2 servers are virtualized from left-over resources. Adding some PTS activity would cut deeply into the resources devoted to L2.
Then again, it could just be the events and the spike in activity they brought.

It's not a lag, it's a freeze. It happens on your computer, but as it regularly affects several people in the party at the same moment, it is caused by something on the server. The freeze usually lasts longer in the areas with bigger amounts of mobs. It's happening for half a year, maybe more.

It's the event, I think. It causes lots of people to log in for longer amounts of time than usual. Lots of people are hopping from toon to toon to level for 2-3 hours and get the easy XP from the event buff. Then, the servers are zerged when the elpy event is about to start.
I'm wondering how the servers will behave after the mergers, TBH, if they are anywhere near 75% capacity, and running at 50% capacity for a majority of the time.
XPing at Dino is like playing with 500 ping for me.
Last night I was healing with my SE OOP (leveling a sub with a friend, poling) and when I cast a heal it wouldn't land until about 1.5-2 seconds after the cast finished. I had to OOP heal with Battle Heal on the PP and Major Heal on the SE just to make sure he didn't die to the train, because of it.

It's definitely been happening longer than half a year, Lol.
There's a known freeze problem for I'd say a year now. When you port somewhere (e.g. into HB, or to Giant's cave from aden ch or whatever), you will get a 5-10 second freeze exactly one hour later, and then again an hour later, etc. if you stay in that area. And since most of the time when you are in a party everybody ports there at the same time, the game freeze happens to everybody at the same time. I would guess it is some game client problem - one hour after loading a new area (when you port), the game client does something which causes the game to freeze up, maybe some kind of memory cleanup. You can avoid party wipes by having e.g. the se/ee port first and the cardinal wait ten to fifteen seconds, so that they do not freeze at the same time and you always have somebody active who can heal. It cannot be a server problem, because if e.g. somebody ports back to town to grab some shots and then ports in again, his "1h freeze timer" starts at that point, and he is "out of sync" with the other party members who did not go back to town. It is kinda amusing actually, because it happens every hour, on the minute, so you get people saying on vent "ah, it is 23 minutes past the hour, in one minute we will get the game freeze again" - and yup, one minute later, there it is :)
That said, I have noticed an increase in "normal" lag the last two weeks or so. Some days the game works perfectly fine, on other days I have horrendous lag. When I use pingplotter, I see very high (ca. 20%) packet loss at the last two hops before gw-eastcoast.plaync.com, that's at llnw.net. The lag is usually in the evening euro time for me (7pm-10pm or so) and then gets less and less, and after 11pm/midnight it is gone. Looks like some kind of bandwidth problem.
ah ****.. so happy it isn't just me. Last one happened 2 days ago in FoG..big pull and bam, screen freeze. Week or two ago an entire party in FoG had their screens all freeze at the same time. Very annoying.
And I seriously doubt it's because of the event lol, it's been happening before it started.

Yes, but yesterday was extreme for some ppl it seems.
Not sure what was going on, but there were problems logging in on a 2nd client aswell (2 box), like it was just sitting there waiting till there would be room free on the server.
Once logged in that client alone had huge lagspikes, while the other client no lag at all, never seen that happen before.
last night my entire party froze and we all dc'd, dieing to the mobs in the train i was running in crypts. All of us froze at the exact same time. Then moving to giran later, half the shops were missing, so i know its server side.
I also notice my afk shops i set before work have been dc'ing regularly.
I highly doubt it is my computer, or any hardware/software issues as its not just me, its everyone i'm playing with in my constant as well as other people in clan, and obviously ppl on these forums accross multiple servers.
maybe the elpy event and jack sage event are causing lag?
it seems much worse than it was before the events (although it was there, just a bit more rare), so hopefully NCsoft takes a look at what the issue is.
