It seems to be related with our fort. As soon as siege starts, in a min the server is down. This time it took longer untill siege restarted the fourth time, but after a min siege restarted, server crashed again.

P.S. It may be a good opportunity to "farm" ballistas, if you are fast enough, hehe :D
I'm looking into this right now. At the moment, Franz is up but the NPCs aren't.
Stop cloud mountain fort siege, I forgot about the restart and i signed it to start 5 min before server went down, now after each restart the siege tries to go on, but there is a crash, the 2 things might be related as it was the disappearance of the merchant a few months ago.

Please check gameguard. Some people who disconnected cannot get back into game due to gameguard errors.
That might be related to DNS issues many ppl are experiencing right now in eastern europe and south america.
Try these DNS 193.231.236.30 194.102.255.3 They currently work and fixed the problem for some ppl that I talked to.

this issue is in no way related to any DNS issue MaoMao. If the NC Soft server goes down, there is nothing you can do to resolve the matter but wait. A DNS change MAY help if the servers are up for others but YOU cannot connect.

I am not stupid, that is related to GG update problems as well as the ppl that cannot see the boards, not with the servers going down. This thread was started about Franz going up and down, but it became more like an ongoing technical problems thread. Slightly OT, but still technical problems.

P.S. Besides, in some cases the servers can apear down for some ppl because of DNS issues, it happened in the past more than once, but it was not the case now, they apear down because are down this time.

That is exactly what happened to some clannies. The servers WERE up again (now Phoenix is down again >.< ), some could log on, some couldn't. The DNS change fixed it for some of those who could not log on even though the server was up. Seems we have several problems at the same time here, not only the servers crashing.

Glad I could help. Looks like ppl using opendns are experiencing this issue. Opendns is a good thing, revert to them as soon as the problem goes away.

MaoMao, I never suggested you were stupid. I never insulted you in any way. A LOT of people are not experienced in various aspects of computers and networking, and incorrect advice is often offered. My sole statement is that if the servers are actually down, as is the case today, then DNS changes wont resolve the matter. Please try to focus on resolve the problem and not be so sensitive.
Franz just went down AGAIN, 4th time today, not including the planned down time. Of course this turns our Lineage2 experience...the game we are trying to play for fun...into a frustrating experience. We wait for our members to log in, make a party, go xp, servers down. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and now 4th time. We lost 1 member for the day after the 2nd downtime, another after the 3rd...now after the 4th dont know who will log back in.
If I can offer a suggestion.....when the servers go down all the players who were logged in at the time the servers went down are, at the very least, inconvenienced. Maybe when the servers go back up place 1 Revita pot in each player's inventory? Specifically the players who were logged in at the time of the crash. This solution has no cost to NC Soft and seems reasonable to me. Maybe Sace if you can pass that idea on, we would appreciate it.
Bot hunting. It's a method used on occasion, expect mass banns in 2-4 weeks.

@oracle I know the thread is about servers going down, but I quoted the post I was replying to, and that was related to GG issues, I added the info I had about ppl not being able to see the boards and offered a solution I tested before. As I said, slightly OT, but I did quote the post I answered to so there are no confusions.
Looks like Phoenix is living up to his name. Maybe if he shut's up and stop's trying to be an "Internet Superstar" the server would start running smooth for a change. :)
Time number 3. I guess now that I'm on Phoenix, my greatness overfills the awesome capacity, and it keeps dying. Also, I don't know if it's related, but I seemed to no longer get quest items. Maybe Phoenix is trying to stop me from leveling up and getting even more awesome.
Sace, 5th time Franz is down today....6th if you include the planned scheduled maintenance. Someone within the team who maintains the server should, at the least, have a very negative mark on his or her performance record.
Server goes down once? It happens, that's life.
Server down twice? Oops, sry, we didn't get it right the first time. Or we resolved one issue then learned it wasn't the root cause, but now we found and resolve the root cause.
Server down third time? It is 99% likely that an employee made a major mistake, or lacks the proper skill/training to resolve the issue.
Server down 4th time? Then 5th? Just lol.
I want the servers up but I would rather they stay down for 1 hr and fixed 100% then to go up and down like this. Please investigate the matter and we would appreciate any sort of explanation.
The official DNS servers for the lineage2.com domain (that's where the web site is, but also the authentication server at l2authd.lineage2.com) are responding extremly slowly, too - it takes about 2000ms for an answer of a simply query which should be near-instant (well, adding the 100ms or so network latency inbetween).
Might be a networking problem, failed OS update on some of the servers, or even a DoS attack on NCSoft going on.
May I suggest that emergency measures be implemented? Wake up whomever the most senior tech is, because currently there is someone making the decision to put the server up and that decision isn't working.

FYI: Temp fix didn't cut it. Seriously though, please elaborate just a bit so people can decide whether or not to wait around. Is this a network problem or a software issue or is there a legion of WoW loving 13 year olds DDOSing the servers?
As many of you have noticed, we've been experiencing some trouble with the game servers. Some of them are randomly going down for a few minutes, then go back up, then a different server will go down, and so on.

While the tech guys are working on a resolution, there are 2 things you can do. First ask for a post-mortem as to the root cause of this issue and why the servers kept being open again with an issue not resolved.
Was there a roll back? I just got the buff, then got my other toon to give myself noble and then server disconnected and logged in and i didn't have any buff at all... i'll quickly try re-getting them i guess

I only logged in once today so far, but I heard people mentioning that they had lost the xp they gained in between crashes, so that would indicate that they rolled back to some point prior to the crash.
Lol, I just woke up at 3 AM for scheduled AoE party with clannies, and I see servers are still crashing. I guess bye-bye exp today, also no vita buff.
I will forgive this incident for 5 revita pops :P

Edit: OMG, the siege at our fort is still going on after 9 hours since it started :o (including downtime)
I think all sieges should be reset, turned off vita event, retart servers and see if they crash again (since it looks like logs dont say much). Then add again vita and if they still dont crash, allow suspicious merchant to walk the earth again...

You can close the petition window once it has been submitted and accepted. When they respond to it you will receive another pop up with their reply.
Also, if you get any strange reply (or one you don't find acceptable) just submit another one via the support site. My experience has been that I get better service using the website petition rather than the in game one.

my vitality was recovered too(in phoenix) but i was in town...
i think this is the ncsoft way to keep bots out from servers... o.O? xDDD

they did not wana leave any one out. NC plays it fair.not seeing many Sayha ppl asking what is going on because this reminds them of the old Erica server crashing days :)
actually the days when seighardt was going down every 5 minutes during the c3 days.... people were able to level on other servers before vitality even excisted as a thought to their 40's due to the hourly crashed that took 10-20 minutes to get back up for a week or 2 that it was occuring.. and after that it was trimmed down to a daily thing.

All my boss jewleries, including valakas, ant queen, baium, antharas and a +10 Aden ring disapear too. Also all BJ set from my buffer slave SE.

Yah had lost my vit buff, took a long time to get a response and by that time i figured i'd just give up and wait for the next days...
yup, login/player servers went down but mob/world servers didn't.
Been something wierd going on all day, not been able to hunt like I usually would and keep losing masses of HP/dying. Another 1% death at 80 for my main due to server crash and now my BD is down 4% at 79 for the past couple of days thanks to glitches and lag. Main has made roughly 15% over past couple of days, BD keeps hitting invisible walls, glitches and lag spikes while pulling and dies!
I've double checked all my gear/macros/buffs/positioning, everything.... noting different today from the last week or so, but just can't seem to stay alive.
You're right, Laby. :) There was a hardware problem on at our west coast data center. It affected multiple games briefly but now all servers are back on like and the cause of the problem is being researched.
