Yup, time to go back to normal mode now. I've had enough of "oh no let's not go there because it would take 10 minutes off my buff because of the time to get there" or "oh no I can't come help because I just took the buff and can't switch to sub/main" or "what? raid? No, I have not used up my buff today yet so I don't have time". And let's not even mention all the drama due to people wanting "optimized" parties.
I love the vit as much as the next lvl 79 person, but i'm tired of it now >< I'm perfetly fine with not having vit for a while... a long while...
Can i say that in 20%:P
i need 15% till i level.
sure, i could have made more xp, if i convinced the party leader you only need 3 live players to do what he wanted to do with 9...
but charity is charity, and the xp was still more than i got solo by a good 25%...
woulda leveled in catas, but no guarantee the room i wanted was open.
maybe next time, they should do these as Vitality potions rather than 2 hour buffs... by potion, i mean enhanced 1 hour buff potions.
however, these would all disappear when regular server maintanence...

ack... i'm late for work!
I wish they gave us potions to use also (maybe even just a number of vita-pops).... Its really inconvenient when you work 9-14 hrs a day, all week, to force yourself to stay up late to not 'waste' a 2hr buff as well :D
Note: I'm not complaining about vit; just pointing out the possible benefits of usable vit items as opposed to buffs :)

Level 80 domi, you should be doing FOG with 3 people in party easly if u got the spear for it.
But yeah i know what you mean. vit event is fun but also stressing. Also everyone wants too be in you party if they find out you can solo FOG><.
And yes loongggg days at work for me too..**** vit buff you. love and hate it both. Its like chocolate is for women":P

Haha this is way to true. People turn into Zombies when this event is on, dont get me wrong i loved it, also missed a week of it due to being on holiday but even 2 weeks in enuf! Especially when your trying to juggle between two char to reef the benefits of it all i must have gone from 300 to 250 to 200 and then down to 150 vit at least 28 times in the past 2 weeks, jesus makes me sick when i think about it haha, good going tho ;)

My GF has 4 characters and a box that she was trying to maximize with this vit buff. She leveled a lot but **** that was stressful trying to get it all in there lol.
yea dont do this anymore or agin as far as im concerned
haha yea sorry to all them legitimate players that powerd there way to 85 with no help apart from a couple of Revita-pops, got to have a little bit of respect for them at times like these. I always did think Lineage 2 was one of the faster lvling MMORPG's that are out ther today. Wasnt really any need for this event in the first place, dusnt mean im not going to abuse it tho ;)
Problem solved IF they would just give every character on the server the 2 hour Vit buff after maintenence OR friday night/saturday night.... automatically without being able to chose.. personally i'm in favor of logging in on tuesday morning and seeing vit buff sitting on my buff bar....
i'd prefer 2 revita pops per acc each day tbh
Except Revita pops are next to useless compared to the event buff. Level 4 Vit hardly lasts any time at all, while this buff keeps you at level 4 Vit for two hours.
yeah but buff forces you to play at specific time but you can use pops any time you want.
also i only used this event to exp sub and 76- support characters so spending full vit takes much more time than if you xp in fog aoe or such kind of place.
As someone who's clanless and generally doesn't group hunt at all (except by dual-boxing), and also someone who has a difficult time with the insane grind in this game at times, events like these are hugely appreciated, and really got me active in the game again.
During this one-week event (I missed the last one), I brought my DA from 74.29 - 76.24, and turned into a Hell Knight, brought my Warcryer from 72.01 - 74.17, and then also leveled a brand-new character from 1 - 37. If this event didn't exist, that same kind of grinding probably would have brought my DA to level 75 flat, the Warcryer to 73 or just about, and that new char to level 25.
That all said, though, I don't think that this is an event that should occur all the time, but even if it did, I sure wouldn't complain about it. I do think it should happen on occasion, perhaps once per quarter, because though there are a ton of people who want to complain about it, there are a ton of people who LOVE it. The "learn to play" mantra doesn't really work here, either. You can master the game just fine by spending 1 hour on things that generally take 3 hours. It's not as though that at higher levels, events like these have a major benefit (275 hours to complete a level doesn't seem like a far cry from 300 hours).
I agree with those who said such benefits should come in the form of buffs though, like juices or something. I'd like the exact same effect, though, but not feel like it's such a time-sensitive issue that they must be used. Maybe give them a one-month timer, or something to that effect.
Either way, thanks to NCsoft for the event. Even though we're back to the regular grind now, the huge boost inspired me to better handle it. Onward to 80... see you all there in a year! ;-)

If by specific time you mean anytime of the day, but I get your point.

I agree with this, tho a lot of the high level players wer kinda annoyed at the fact all the lower levels got all this free xp. I can kinda understand wer they are coming from but the fact is, the majority of the players that wer actually abusing this event to the fullest wer the ones that had been playing L2 for a long time and just wanted to get a few extra levels on ther other toons/sub classes. Its nice because iv always had other toons that i have wanted to see what ther potential actually is when they get ther higher level skills. The event has definitely inspiderd me to get my toons to the really high levels so thanks for that NCsoft
All in all i think it was a really good event and im gona miss Jack, that dude was one of the coolest looking NPC's in L2. Would love to see the event come back again sometime, as Deathspawne said once a once per quarter would be sweet. It should be the marking of the seasons, spring, summer, autumn, winter. Would give people a nice boost and get players buzzing about the game again ;)

Can you explain yourself here..
How is it that High level players were annoyed... how... explain this... they were benefitting all the same..... how in the hell can higher lvled players get annoyed when they had the same if not as good somewhat better benefits considering that higher lvl players from what i've seen personally get some MAJOR boosts from the vit event...

Because they want all the high end stuff to themselves and don't want competition.

I dont know how they can complain, i asked myself the same question but i saw quite a few people complain about it around Goddard, saying that they wer Kamael players they alway seem depressed about something haha

I think he means those that got 85/80/80/80 by hard work 24/7 months on end and whom dont really appreciate vitality at all, they never needed it.
The rest of us, like me, for instance, Thank you NCSoft, that was a cool thing, but I feel more inspired by the fact they did listen to us.
We were tired of buff juice events and other **** if you were realy lucky or a farmer 24/7, they heard us. We wanted vita to compete with our automated "friends" and we got it. Too much ? Too inconvenient ? Maybe for some, I am just happy they listened and they are willing to improve it :)

Optimized parties... meh.. I party anyone, any class, any level (within the 19 limit ofc),
I am sick of people only wanting the perfect fit, all XP is XP, sitting in town/CH waiting for the pefect party people to log in is a waste of time.
as for the vit, I worked late on the 2 weeks, I was on holiday for the extension, and i used my last 30 mins doing a fort.. But it's fun all the same :!

I also hate optimised parties or XP'ing solo simply to get best xp/hour :D I have more fun being with friends! And I agree, those perfect parties rarely actually start or get going because a 'required' class is missing or busy/afk or goes afk/logsoff after 30 mins.

ah yes...
what i find most amusing is seeing them get frequently banned
what i find most amusing is seeing them get frequently banned
I wouldn't exactly say Frequently, when the same afk xp group has been in the same room in the same cata for 3 week straight, before that they were in the previous cata for just as much time, reported, bot buttoned and they just keep on ticking.
Oh there are SO many points made here that I agree with. So let me just go down the list.
1. Nitblade: I feel your pain it sucks that not all of our automated "friends" would not feel the "love" that Judas was talking about.
2. Judas: I too love it when the server lights up with "Player X" got banned today. It makes me smile, a lot.
3. The_Mole & Rosalina: I could not agree with you more. Go out and level, if it is in a group, great!!! Have a blast, if no one is on the get out there and solo and make the best of it. While I understand wanting to maximize your exp and have a great party to exp with, sometimes you just need to go with what you got and give it a shot.

I missed the event, but it was a great idea. A better idea next time, as mentioned, would be to give out a potion every day, that gives Vit 4 for 2 hours. This potion would be permanent and non-tradable. This would allow people to use their Vit when they can, instead of having forced playtime.

That probably would have fixed 99% of the complaints.

Good idea but wouldnt work, everyone would jus save there potions for lvl 80-85. Would only work if you put a lvl 76 cap on them and even then you would probably end up wasting half of them holding the potions out for the hard lvl's then hitting the cap b4 you run out of potions. The way they did it was probably the best way really. They do events to get the server buzzing again, not for people to log on collect ther potions and then log off again for a few days, the place would be dead. Plus this would mean every account holder would fill there accounts with players and just collect the potions for a rainy day

Why force people to *not* save their own potions for the hard levels?
And secondly if they were non-tradable it wouldn't matter what a person did char-wise.

Also if its such a big problem, then have them expire after a couple of months or a years time.

I don't see a problem with stocking up on a potion like this.

I'm wondering the same thing. The potions are just as beneficial regardless of the level. It's not as though using one at 80+ is going to give you a greater effect than if you used it at level 20.

If it was a Revita pop, you'd be right since vitality drains in relation to XP gained, but since it lasts for two hours regardless of how much XP you're gaining, it would be infinitely more useful at 80+.
Regardless, I don't think there's problem with stocking up on them.

Exactly, people would kill it in the higher lvl's. Specially when your kaining the over hit which has got to be done!
Look like i said, people stocking up on the pots would not be much of an event, people would not be buzzing as much and ther isnt much of a challenge when everyone is getting exactly the same as the next man/woman. I know i want a little bit of challenge behind my events not to just give out free items to everyone even those who cant be botherd to play during the event period

Oh, interesting. For some reason I thought you used a set amount based on the level of the mob in relation to you (use more Vitality when killing a deep red, for example).
Either way, I say let people use them however they want to.
FYI, I changed the title of this thread to "Vitality Events," since the "Vitality Event that ends tomorrow" ended two days ago, but players are still posting.

It has nothing to do with challenge. Some people just can't be online or are on vacation, and as such, it could be a much nicer way to run the event. Plus it would mean that people didn't have to start out their first 2 hours grinding and ignoring everything else.
Thanks to event and some friend's party help i managed to finish my last sub at last!
Few revitas left im gonna use to make my bd sub 80,but exping on my main with 0 vit really is so frustrating......i was with a friend and we both were desperated after 3 hours,so yea,i vote for some daily revita pop 2h time on our invetory :)

Well if you wer on vacation then thats hard luck, you missed out on the gain that everyone else got in that time, thats the point tho, it would be boring if we all got exactly the same amount of XP for the event
Look the game would be ruined if you guys got your hands on it, for example
The event starts, i start a dwarf, collect all 21 2 hour 300% XP potion im going to be crafting S grade in less than a 2 week, server get over populated with crafters and item prices drop, no one makes any money because every itme is common, great!
Same applys to all other Classes, you would be in S grade in less than 2 week with 21 2 hour 300% potion plus all the rest you get after the 2 hours!!
Isn't it quite ironic how the people complaining about vit events seem to be lvl 85 Titans/Dreadnaughts?
These vit events are great for most players, especially since the way the games changed to mean players need level 81+ to even think about pvping. They get people playing again and those who are on the verge of quitting due to the 1000s of hours needede now to pvp gain a reason to play again, theres hope!
Back in the day when L2 was highly populated maybe vit events weren't needed since people didn't need insane levels to play the game. Now after a barrage of possibly some of the worst patches to a game ever, people need hope that they can get to 81+ before the game dies so they can be useful in pvp again.

I agree, those vit events or a daily revita are not for new players, they are great to reach 85 in a human life time. Before events i was 83 and considering the nukers areas and the fact i have clan events to attend and wars, i was thinking i will hit 85 in about 2 years.Having all those events i m close to 85 and best of all i finished on 3d sub and i have some revitas to make my second sub ~80.So i did catch up a bit the bots who still play and were 85/80 since last year.
But if some young players are really interested in this game and join a good clan, they can lvl faster, get some help on s gear and at participate on sieges/tw and on some raids like baium. Before vit,no top clan would recruit a -80 player.
one more thing I recently remembered. To all those who are saying "the games meant to be hard, let everyone struggle, no vit, blah blah....."
It seems pretty clear that the insane 79-85 grind and it's massive advantages were w mistake, initially tried to be fixed with elemental weapons to increase damage (which broke pvp) and now to be fixed in High Five..... When they're reducing the XP needed per level at 78+ by 42% and increasing the XP 78+ mobs give by 20%.
If that's not a sign that L2 devs have realised the error of the life killing grind then I don't know what is. More vit events pls in prep for high five and faster lvling!

They complain about everyone who bemoans the grind in this game.
That seems to be a new thing though. They've really been coming on somewhat fierce lately.

Completely agree.
However, Attribute and the 79+ grind wouldn't be so hard (from a time investment standpoint, it's not really difficult in the true sense) if there weren't glaring imbalances in the methods used to level.
Classes that cannot AoE or don't have a means to AoE well really are disadvantaged vs. those other classes. 79+ is 1-78 with the tables turned. Single-target XP doesn't and never has scaled nearly as well as AoE/Polearm XP does. This grind issue was totally forseeable, especially with how easy it is to box support in this game. That really turned PvE into a case of the Haves and the Have Nots - way beyond differences in general class type, playtimes, and leveling methods.
It's good that they're moving to fix it, but from the perspective of our servers... It's a bit late for that?
u know tren u said something i actully agree with lol
it is definitely the haves versus the havenots. u eithr have gear/lvls or not, u iether have boxes to support for single mob xp (ie cov, wolves, dances/songs etc) or u dont. u either have the time to grind it out or u dont.

Big plus one to this.
Glad Freya/H5 will help with the ridiculous grind.

You probably agree with me on more things, but staunchly disagree with my temperament :< I do have a way of ticking people off with the tone of my posts. I not ignorant of how... rude they can sometimes be :P
As far as I'm concerned. I can play for 10+ hours a day no problem. I have the time. What the game doesn't have for me, atm, is a a decent population. I cannot play a solo MMORPG, and have fun in it.
I also have issues with sitting in groups and leaching XP. It's boring, and it almost always makes me fall asleep, even if I slept 18 hours before I logged in for it. I need human interaction during the grind. With that, I don't even think about my XP bar. I'm not talking about clan chat and vent. I want to work with other people, not just round up MOBs and chill while they polearm them.
The Grind or Time Requirements [to do it] aren't much of an issue for me. Boredom is. If the game required you to do more than target and press F1, I guess I'd be able to stomach it a bit more (the solo grind, at least), since that would at least require a bit of thought.
The grind is really easy as hell. They have just made it take a long time to give people the feeling that they have actually accomplished something when they dinged. In reality, the only thing you've accomplished... is spending more time in front of the computer than someone else.
EDIT: I'm simply astounded by the words that are caught by the forum word filter. It's the most ridiculous thing, ever.
Kymeira, why does your forum signature say LV17 Dark Fighter?
id rather have instanced single mob xp all the time, and clan and ally chat while doing it and id be happy to play l2 for the rest of my natural life lololol
The solo grind is bearable when it's somewhat interactive (as in, not mundane repetition). But that's not the L2 flavor. I used to be able to grind [EDIT: solo] for like 8 hours no problem (well, I usually tried to take like a 10/15 min break per hour), but I can't do it anymore.
it is definitely the haves versus the havenots. u eithr have gear/lvls or not, u iether have boxes to support for single mob xp (ie cov, wolves, dances/songs etc) or u dont. u either have the time to grind it out or u dont.
/agree
Personally, I have bad gear for a lvl 80; I don't even have a full set of Dyn yet, and I'm using a DLE (never had enough adena to buy an FB). Could never afford a wolf due to stupid pet accessory prices. My WC is in his mid 60's because I could'nt afford to keep the account alive much this year, so most of the time I live (or have lived) on clan hall buffs.
Time is the only reason I've managed 80, (started in 2006), but I'm still proud to have got there. Events and changes like what seem to be coming with High5 (like the 4:1 AA thing) will help me a massive amount, especially when it comes to things like affording S-gems (the only alternative being weeks of cata grind). Also the grouping thing in the re-designed dragon valley sounds great for making different classes play together. Things are looking up, I just need some more bits of gear and I'll be all set for the future :)
Late for the servers... probably, yes. But personally, I'm delighted they are changing things up a bit going forward.
