A question the producer of the game can perhaps address or HGMWill?
This seems to be a large concern for the legit people in Lineage 2.
Hacking of their PlayNC accounts.
My 3rd member in less then 2 months has been hacked. None of they had any shady dealings, all had their plaync accounts access password and challenge questions changed and never got a email from PlayNC notifying them their password has been changed.
This is a great concern to me if the security feature of notifying by email of a password or email change is not working.
Also this player was in game when he kicked off and couldn't relog into his own account and now all his gear is most likely gone.
Is it a known problem the email verification of a password change is not getting sent or is it something these people are doing to circumvent the system?
When someone hacks the account they probably also change the email address and the notification probably goes there lol :o
Ask them if they visited one of those adena selling spammer sites, even if just out of curiosity. Those sites commonly give you trojans/keyloggers just by visiting the site and it could have been some time ago. They might not get around to hacking your account for awhile >< With the heavy activity of these spammers I think we will see more hackings :(
I have read stories about people who not only had their account stolen, but also (via keylogger) e.g. their gmail/hotmail/whatever account hijacked. Basically, the guy who got the L2 account password via keylogger then also logged into the gmail etc. account (because he had that password, too) and immediately erased all the "your password got changed" emails, so that the player did not receive any immediate warning when he checked his emails the next time. If your account got stolen, consider EVERYTHING which you do on that pc and which uses a password to be stolen.
NC would make money on this, ppl would have more sec acc, every1 happy?
RSA keys.. awesome idea... NC.. this is a WIN-WIN scenario.. cost for NCSoft.. almost next to 0.. just implement new area on master account to sync the key with server.. Cost for player.. 10-25USD... and.. IMHO, account security is Priceless!

Come on guys, L2 has game guard, a premium security software that does...erhm...don't actually know if it does anything other than being annoying and make the game buggy.
Anyway, there's also a keylogger/sniffer in circulation through facebook and facebook apps.

If you force the authentication to be done exclusively through the RSA key, at least you can increase quite a bit your account security.
Brute forcing is also limited by the forced IP-Block, on too many failed attempts.

Again, its purpose is for combating keyloggers.
U obviously didn't use anything like that ‘’mr expert’’ Without authentication code u won’t get anywhere, u have to enter login, password and than aut key, anywhere through web acc, game acc or forum. Every time generating different combination, specific to ur sec token. That’s how it works, and y like some1 mention before it will block if u attempt to enter few times wrong aut key. Than only way to get it back is to contact cost support , send id etc, so it not so easy ****.
Cell Phone verification would be great, russian l2 made it few weeks ago and it is impossible to steal account w/o sms code that you can get only from your cell phone
One of my RL friends got his email/account stolen back in 2008, and there was a lot of his info in his mail (timecards/personal info), so when he asked NC for pass reset they just permabanned his lineage2 account because `2 parties were able to provide info of the account and we cant provide the integrity of the account in future` kk thnxbye,he just moved to russian l2 after losing 3,5 year paid and highlvl acc with good gear
