OK, so Iv'e been back in the game for a few months now and something I'm really struggling to find is the community. There used to be so many sites like orphus originally, then blah and so on, now all pretty dead and only a couple of posts a day. L2WH is abandoned and apart from a few good fan sites theres not much info on the new stuff, what's there is quite limited.
The official site has been due for update "Soon" since I left 2 years ago but the community heres grown a little it seems, though theres only maybe 2 posts an hour and mostly by the same handful of people. Are there any popular non-official forums that aren't full of complainers?

I'm not a big fan or RP to be honest, it kinda gets put next to botting for me, they can do what they want if it doesn't harm me, lol. Strange really, I love RPGs, spend hours on them, talk about optimising grind, best setups and be a real geek with stuff but RP just doesn't float my boat, lol. Kinda like when you see a guy dressed as Darth Vader calling a guy dressed as a Klingon a nerd cos "star trek sux"! Don't get me wrong I do get into character on my toons sometimes, always fun logging on a dorf and doing a little dance and acting all soft or logging on a PP and running round annoying people then using return when they get annoyed and attack you. I think most people do, it's hard not to. But I don't do all the lore and story and "He hath done this, she shalt be sorry".
Looking for a froums more like blah was back in the day with decent activity and loads of drama and arguments. The forums you join in and start going "yeah I bsoe'd cos I didn't wanna give u pvp points, u lose lolz, butthurt", then look back on later and think WTF was I writing?!?!
Edit: P.S. Anyone doing anymore RP weddings? I've always wanted to get a group together and go and gank one.... would be sooooo funny! Not to the WoW extent of ganking a virtual memorial service though more like on the old C4/5 trailer. Ironically crashing a wedding is about as much RPing as holding the wedding because you're playing the role of the bad guys, lol.... soo RP wedding in front of aden castle plx, or colosseum if you don't want XP loss! :D

The community on the official boards fizzled out, imo, due to heavy censoring a year or so ago (maybe two or three years ago). NCSoft banned forum accounts because people were commenting about the different problems with the game or inaction of NCSoft. Mostly the bot problem but there were other issues and lots of people lost their ability to post and comment on this forum and then other players quickly found out about those actions and decided why bother posting here because "it just didn't matter".
And ya know, 'it doesn't matter', those people are gone, the forums are not nearly as active as they used to be other than the same 'regulars' walking in. Hopefully NCSoft is coming back to its base but only time will tell if they do and if it's too late or not.
Things in L2 take a while to accomplish and having knowledge of future events is a good thing. Like server mergers, it is like moving from one house to another but not knowing any details.
Officials have always been heavily moderated, I'd actually say they were busier than when I last saw them though, maybe due to the complete absence of any other popular foums... or maybe just because it's now busier than other forums so its more noticable?
What went wrong? Bots, Banning the bots, patches making pvp only endgame or a combination of the lot?
I was just watching my old fraps's and in them we got parties of toons from 58-67 all fighting top clans and winning, lvl 75 toons weren't as powerful as a lvl 85 is now, no wonder most people quit or began to bot and got banned when you can't pvp until you've done 2-3 years solid (casual) grind to get to 85, let alone having gear or subs.

I wondered about that turn-style thingy myself, but if you click on it; it will open up a site that show neat L2 items that you can buy, so look at it as a whirlwind of Goodies! :D

while we didn't do anything in game silvanarose(SK then RR) and i got married and have an 8 month old boy now.

yeah its kind of a funny story, i knew her in game when metzolah (my ws) was my only toon and she used to recharge me while i crafted. i don't know if you remember my dss shop it was kinda famous "i got more dss than star trek." well anyway when nova came to sayha shadozen made a spy account for me and mark. thats kinda how i re-met her was i jumped into her channel. turned out she lvied 5 hours away in canada. i think we me at that time in august 2008, started dating in november, pregnant in january, married in june, baby born in december lol. its been a wild ride but i wouldn't take anything back.
ofc she lost a lot of in game friends with that. no 1 could understand why she would get with the biggest griefer(hebrewhammer) on the server lol. but thats the way the cookie crumbles!
As Kitty said, the ads are helping to pay for the bandwidth and upgrades to the site. We have opened a donation option, and if there are enough we can remove the ads entirely.

Do you consider Blah as a "community"? Most of the post there are my... hmmm... nose is bigger then your hmmm... nose...
Blah has died down quite a bit, but it has died only as much as the population in the game itself has decreased. Most of the active, end game players posted on Orphus and then Blah more than here. If you search there, there is much more useful information that on this forum. I wouldn't say it's unmoderated... It's just not for children.

Many of the people who post here also post at EllieBelly and Blah. The idea that they aren't good enough for here is laughable.
You still have to be a downer to get banned on blah. "Telling someone the truth" is not bannable there. Anyone who posts there or reads that forum knows what you're saying is a complete farce.

Given what is tolerated on Blah, getting banned there is really not a mark of diplomacy or intelligence. You probably played the board warrior, flamed without any sense and got removed because you were embarrasingly ridiculous. :rolleyes:
The QQ on official boards reflect the state of the game. There are lots of things to complain about. And you can see it has more to do with how NCsoft works than how class X or Y is overpowered, which is a dead fact we're used to.
There's not only one L2 community anyway. A community is generally up to 400 persons. But the most active and useful website/forum is elliebelly.net nowadays.
That's where you'll find patchnotes of coming expansions, news from development in Korea, etc, because NCsoft West decided not to communicate about that although players seem to have an interrest in it.
There's QQ on elliebelly.net too. The less QQ you'll find would be on some Dead Fanboys Society website, writing poetry like "To RPing lowbies, to make much of time".
It's pretty clear both ingame and out that the community has completely died, my once packed msn list now consists of 50 people who've quit, 1 whose quitting and 1 who still plays but doesn't seem interested in chatting about L2 anymore. Theres one guy who came back too but he's less than enthusiastic and not looking forward to the 80-85 grind (he quit at 80).
Blah was just like official with the intelligence levels, some intelligent people come complete idiots, as with any MMO forum. The good thing about blah was getting into the arguments and drama, especially with the idiots because they're easy to beat in a battle of wits and get really angry which is funny. Here it's often just intelligent people acting like idiots whilst the idiots cry about something or suggest something totally idiotic... hey, why not make antherras level 40 then everyone could do it? Difference here being you gotta treat everyone with respect.
I like the officials for helping others out and having a reasonably educated discussion, but it's not fun like it used to be on blah/orphus. Plus I REALLY hate all the "QQ bot, QQ bot" stuff, since I have my own opinions about that and its impact on the community. Namely how the community of the game seemed to dissappear over night, shortly after a mass ban... muct just be conincidence eh?
I don't use or condone bots, but if they keep people paying and playing, let me buy/sell things in giran and give me more people to speak to then so be it! NC made the game ******edly difficult and put a massive equipment/level gap in, the community reacted. NC banned everyone, the community left! Banning the rest now would just be twisting the knife in an already gushing wound (Get rid of the RMT botters though, 100%, they're a parasite to the game).
Anyways, I joined Ellybellie a while back, I'll go back and check on there. I'll keep posting on here though probably, untill I either join a real clan or quit, lol. :p
