Ooh, nice event! Special credit for the Mastery Codex books. A very considerate reward idea. The Noble stone and transforms also deserve a special mention (Although a Gordon would be infinitely superior!!!). I feel like a kid again ^_^.
I'd trade the Blessed Freya necklace reward option for a Valakas/Antharas any day but nothing is perfect. :P

It does not fill your vitality to max, instead it "maintains" your vitality so that you do not lose vitality while you XP.
Ah, ok. So probably best to just get them all, store them until you're back to vit 4 normally and then you get 14*0.5h=7h of "birthday buff".
Or combine with a revita-pop.

Yeah, Re-Activation would help a TON, but I assume they want to wait for servers to merge and/or settle down a bit mroe before they do that, show the old players a better game than when they left.
I got snared back by the reactivation and since then paid £120+ in subs, so yeah they work well..... One MAJOR flaw with them though was I didn't recieve a single e-mail or notification telling me about the activation, I had to find out myself by stumbling accross it on the L2 website. If they sent out e-mails to all the accounts then more people would take them up.

It does not fill your vitality to max, instead it "maintains" your vitality so that you do not lose vitality while you XP.
and they can be saved and used when you want to use them so just let your vit fill up and then pop one.
ps: the vit herb does not fill your vit full, just a little bit.

As Smittie already pointed out, if you are going to blast someone for mistakes DO NOT make them yourself.
so when freya live client will be available for download?
The client will be available for download on Monday, from all three official download sites. On Tuesday, everyone's client will undergo a patcher update, and once that is done players will be able to log in.
So you have two choices: you can download the Freya client on Monday and have a shorter update time on Tuesday (but this means you cannot play Lineage II all of Monday, as the Freya client won't work yet). Or, you can continue to play on your Gracia Epilogue client all the way until maintenance begins on Tuesday, and then download the whole Freya client then and there.
Or you can take PTS client, and copy into its folder lineage2.exe from your life client. And ta-da, your PTS client is now life, just make short update on Tuesday and play :)

If you have a working PTS client and a working live server client right now:
During the maintenance on Tuesday, when the servers will be updated, do the following:
- make a copy of the "lineage ii.exe"-file from your current live server client somewhere else so that you have a backup
- delete everything else in your current live server client directory (save your screenshots, if you have any)
- copy everything from the PTS client directory into the live server client directory. everything.
- finally, copy the "lineage ii.exe"-file which you copied away in the first step into the live server directory, overwriting the "lineage ii.exe"-file which is already there (and which you copied from the PTS client in the 3rd step).
- then, after the maintenance, when you start the game as usual, it will just do a complete file check and then start (instead of downloading everything again for hours).
Do not do this before the maintenance, or running the game in the last step will "downgrade" your game to the pre-Freya version again.

Why is there 7 items that are basically the same?
I know you're changing the quest inventory to be different, which is awesome, don't get me wrong, but one complaint I have seen almost every event that I have played is that there are too many items and they just crowd up your inventory.
I just don't get what the point of 7 that are for all intends and purposes identical items.

The difference between Freya Live client and Freya PTS client is only 1 file - lineage2.exe. In pts folder this file leads us to PTS server. In Live client folder this file leads us to Live servers.
We have:
PTS client - c:\\games\pts client\
Live client - c:\\games\live client\
Task: to make live client out of PTS client.
Action:
Make a copy of PTS client and put it c:\\games\new live client\
Copy file Lineage2.exe from Live client (c:\\games\live client\lineage2.exe) and put this file into New live client folder replacing similar file there (c:\\games\new live client\lineage2.exe).
Until August 24 play Live client c:\\games\live client\
After August 24

Hehe, nope, but some people are worried to change files and move things, and if thats how you are it can be less worrying to re-download than change these things :)

It is the same file we have in our live client now. Totally the same.
People are not afraid to play using this file? Or shortcut that installation programm created on the desktop is not leading to it? :)
I just didn't think that "download ptstolive, unzip, copy, run" is worth mentioning if we already have this file in our game client.
Anyway, I stop, I think those who download Gbs of information over and over again can't be convinced to do something else for a change :)

You are both right.
The live lineage2.exe only points to a different patch server that contains the files for the live client.
The actual file that points the client to the correct login server is the l2.ini file in the system folder and it is the login server that forward you to the servers. The client it self doesn't have a clue what the address for the different servers are.
In few cases the lineage2.exe doesn't always swap the l2.ini file out with the correct one so you end up logging in on the PTS even after you have placed the lineage2.exe file from the live client and run a file check.
That's also why I always delete the l2.ini file before running the file check so that it downloads the correct file.

I didn't learn that in a school or university, I just kind of figured it out. I would not give 99% of the human population credit for that type of thing though.
This event would be better if that 30 min potion also put your vitality back to max. But at least you can save them and use them once you do have time to stay offline for a few days to get it back to max or if your lucky you still have a vitapop left.

Has anyone had any success getting Freya to cough up the goodies yet? Me and 2 clannies have all bombarded her with all manner of food, drinks and such, but nothing in return yet...
So far freya has been stingy and not given out any gift boxes to me yet. Only 10 event item so far but still would be nice to not take to many to get a gift box.

Hint use the items slower on Freya. I wait tell after what she says goes away from over her head. Seem to get more boxes that way. Not saying which ones but seem one of the drops has a better chance of getting a box.
If you use them on a red or purle player you get recommendations. I used it on a flagged player and got 10 recommendations.

It could have just been a random increase of recommendations. Seen my toons get 10 extra recs from time to time without doing what you described.
Yes, that message "you have received 10 recommendations" also confused me at the beginning. Pretty sure it was just that and not a feature of the event drops.

What Krissa said and also save up 100+ at a time. If you have 100 and use them all at same time I think you are pretty much guaranteed at least 1 box if not 2. If you use 20 at a time though you may never get anything.
Don't spam the items on Freya. Wait for 10 seconds between the clicks and make sure that no one spams them on your Freya at the same time.

You guys are thinking too much into this. It's quite obvious that sometimes Freya will give you an item after the 1st turnin, and sometimes after the 50th. I've tested all the possible scenarios, none of them make a difference, so stop thinking too much into it.
I'm positive the turnin/reward rates vary and that's that. As the instructions say on the events' page "She MIGHT reward you with something extra." Considering she already awards us with vitality maintenance potions, it's quite safe to assume that takes up 50% of what the event has to offer, and the remaining 50% is this drop stuff.
I must've handed in thousands of these items now. From my findings theres no correlation between items and what she says. Theres 7 different items and 4 things she says.
I tried using different items for different speeches and making lists of what she responded to, result it didn't matter wether I sat there spamming the same item, cycling through the items, or using specific items for specific messages, at first I found links, then did more and the "links" were just figments of my imagination. It's an easy trap to fall into, relates to the BF Skinner experiments on susperstition.
Superstition in the Pigeon

There was a programme where a magician, "Derren Brown" got a load of celebs in a room with random objects in and they were told to earn 100 points in 30 minutes, they started doing all strange things to get points, when really it was two goldfish swimming in a tank from one half to the other that was giving them the points, lol.
If choice of item does have anything to do with it then I'm sorry, but I don't think it does.
lol I've still got my odd quirks I do, move my toon slightly each time I enchant, or if I fail a skill enchant, refuse to use some crafters and only click if I've got a good feeling. Also I won't craft with over 60% inv/weight though that kinda makes sense.
Still fun to do superstitious stuff. :p
Edit: Just to add I dunno where all these items are coming from, I've been hunting for about 5 hours and only got maybe 40 of each between me and my housemate, that's 140 each. Some people have thousands of each already to buy/sell shops. :(
Cant say i enjoy this event.Vit pots will be usefull only when we will get out of game for days and most of us play in clans and need to log everyday for clan events,pots that would give us vit4 would be so more handy.
As for adena part,no matter how many goodies i give her,freya will give me 1 -2 gifts,so i get everyday 1 qhp and some times a giant book too.Putting gb to this event was bad,every noble toon makes some gb from oly and most sell them to make their monthly income.
What ive noticed about freya npc is that there is a rest among the gifts she gives.If i click quick the presents on her,i dont take anything,she might stuck there for minutes,if i go slowly and wait untill she speaks before i give her more cake,she continues talking.
i've found i get more gifts using the baguette than anything else.
but just a note...
maybe i should set up shop and only buy these baguettes and sell the rest.
I've stopped buying certain ones, well put them for a lower amount. I'm not totally sure if ones do give greater rewards though. I've started waiting till I've got a bulk stop now then monitoring how many it takes me per reward, I've lost too much money on this to just keep naming random prices, I need market research lol.
Finally got 2 boxes. But the funny thing was they came from only 6 or 7 items, so its quite obvious doing a large bulk or small number makes no difference either. First box came from the very first event item.
Strange really, I've made macros on all my toons and have them all in different towns just spamming NPCs then saying in clanchat when the macro is over.
Quite often I'll get a gift on the very last line of the macro. I don't know if that means anything or if its just that I don't notice as often when I get gifts during the macro. Either way I'm gonna have to stop buying, it's taking me forever to clear them all, lol.
one more thing I'm wondering is does the mastery drop on this event really exist?
Between me and people I speak to we must have opened 1k+ boxes, but no one has even heard of a mastery book coming from them. Not even the old, "a friend of a friend of my brother's, sister's aunty heard of someone getting one"!
I expect a necklas drop to be super rare, but mastery book should be heard of no?

i dont ever spam. i throw one, move to a different spot, differnt distance, throw her another one. i had gotten the giants codex earlier today. but since then i havent gotten any yet and ive Roughly threw another 25 event items at her.
my worst rate so far was 1/64 otherwise i usually get 1/50

i mean normally durring events like this i grind 7 hours a day.
but since the rate is so low, and so far my rewards have been
6xQHP, 8xSgem, 1xNoble, 1xGC.
i mean in an hour of grinding i get 30 on lowbie, 60 on main single mob.
find drop rates are better on white and green...
because even though i kill well on yellow, pink/red for lowbie... the drops don't match the xp rate.
i want to sell them to buy shops...

From the test result linked to above, it seems that you get a healing pot about 50% of the time from a box, S gemstons/GC 20% of the time each, and the rest of the rewards is in the single % rate area or, in the case of mastery codex and blessed freya necklace, much much lower even.
So, if you do not get excited about the healing pots, you get something which is not "meh" about half the time you open a box, so 1/80 event items for me. If you go to a full party area, you will get maybe 10 items for a normal evening of playing, which means you get your S gem or GC after several days of playing. This kinda sucks, because it means that to get at least a halfway decent amount of rewards, you pretty much have to solo for the duration of the event, otherwise you simply do not get enough event items to beat the odds. I do not like events which force you to decide between being in party with your friends or soloing to get a decent amount of event drops. One way to fix this would be to make multi-hp mobs simply drop several event items when they do decide to drop something (maybe not in the easy to pole areas).
BTW who came up with the idea of making noble stones THAT rare as rewards? Does he even have any clue about HOW MANY noble stones you need for one vesper set?

They should have had a much higher rate - that would have been at least a somewhat nice start for somebody going for noble vesper, giving him the first few stones after buying a couple thousand event items.
As it is, good luck to those trying to sell the noble stones for 30m each in Giran, lol. Not even the top clans will be willing to pay 2880*30=86.4b to enable the cape slot on a vesper heavy set :D

The best part about the noble stones being so rare is that they are essentially useless as they do not increase any stats, just allow you to wear hs cloak. Pretty terrible planning.

The best part about the noble stones being so rare is that they are essentially useless as they do not increase any stats, just allow you to wear hs cloak. Pretty terrible planning.
Yes, there is no reason at all for the noble stones to be that rare or for them to be that hard to get normally (outside the event). All they do is enable the cape slot (and give the armor set a different colour). It's just for bragging rights. And since many people go for moirai armor sets anyway (e.g. moirai heavy >> vesper heavy, except for a tank maybe, just the vesper robe set is pretty nice), the whole thing is a big fail. Nobody will spend ages farming noble stones if he can just craft a much easier to get set, with better set bonus, which also automatically enables the cape slot without doing anything.
One thing Iv'e noticed with this is there seems to be no ettiquet at all during this event. I stand at an empty NPC with a macro doing /useshortcutwithitem, /delay 9, /useshortcut with item .... etc. ALWAYS some noob comes up and starts spamming all their items as fast as possible onto the NPC, it's sooooo annoying.
Then again I can't complain, it's people doing this that's making me so much money. :)

i don't like waiting a few seconds per box when it doesn't seem to change anything. 80 boxes don't go as fast as i'd like...
although i've noticed drops seem more regular, when event first started, i only got event items, and no standard drops... now i get more standard drops like element stones and the like.

I am not satisfied with this event and the last one in June, because vitality maintenance disappears once you get killed. I've wait all day to get the next one but a few minutes after I recieved it, I happened to get killed. now vitality maintenance has disappeared. I loved the valentine event.

Don't die, or take noble. It's a buff pot, you can use it whenever you want, it's probably the best way they can do it! Though I wish I had vit pops left, not looking forward to logging out for 3 days to get full vit. :p
do lowbie raids non stop on sub for a while...
nah, probably go up faster if you log out.
sad part is they have an hour cool down, so unless you skill mastery the thing, you need to wait an extra half hour before you can use it again.
My housemates just been logging out after the pot goes for 30 minutes, I'm too impatient though, lol. Plus he's got Vit 3, I haven't seen that since the vit last event. Can't do lowbie raids on subs either, unless lvl 76 is lowbie :(

IDK about the event item rate, since I have not been farming, but I like this vit pots. I log in each day to grab them, and then I'll have 7 hours of vit buff to use at my leisure. Much better than the grind each day so you don't miss it vit events.

So you start at vit 4, use a pot, keep the vit 4 for 30 min, then the potion wears off and you lose vit 4 and get to vit 3 the next 30 min. Then you can use a pot to stay at vit 3, etc. You cannot stay at vit 4 for all the pots non-stop.
I love the vita pots, best vitality item since agathion that replenished full vitality :)
Yesterday I used 3 of them in a raw exping my sub. I used first on 4 lvl vit, exped for about 40 min (pot worn off and I spent about 1/3 of vita 4), then I made a break for 20 min, then again vita pot and so on.
I see no problem with making little breaks, it's much more healthy than exping nonstop for several hours because of some item or buff you need to spend.
On my buffer I gather them for the future.
Well, this event is ridiculous...drop rate of items and to recieve a freyas present. I got 2 pots and 1 book out of over 200 event items which is just LALZ! Next event plix plox!
I was liking this event, but not now. Prices on GC have dropped by over 1 million each and new oly period is soon too, which will just make it worse! Heck I'd hate to think how low they'd drop if people hadn't just got a ton of SP from their 2nd epic quest too!
SGems are dropping too, but I guess I can't complain at that, especially since they went up to 2mil each thanks to AE pushing dusk and losing the merchant on our servers the day before a new update with new craftable items. I still don't know why they did it, they didn't take a castle or anything! Maybe they're just anarchists?
Why is there 7 items that are basically the same?
I know you're changing the quest inventory to be different, which is awesome, don't get me wrong, but one complaint I have seen almost every event that I have played is that there are too many items and they just crowd up your inventory.
I just don't get what the point of 7 that are for all intends and purposes identical items.
Anyway, here's hoping I'll be the 1 person in the NA/EU district to get the godmode reward of a blessed Freya necklace

I have been getting a box about every 12-15 event items. I dont spam them either and just use them at a nice slow pace on Freya where knowone else is. Seems to work just fine for me. Not to bad so far.

i was depressed.
i hope now that the event is over i will be back to my normal grinding schedule... but it's anyones guess.

Nah, I think they all went for a different seal, it didn't spawn. Why'd they need anakim anyway when freya and zaken are both instanced now aren't they, and you can do 14s in rift?
As for Sgems, the event has definately given enough to drop the price, the event is supplying the whole of the server currently, lol. Really killed two of the only accessible markets left in the game though, codexes and gems. It's lucky it didn't drop stones and crystals too or there would be no "stock" markets left.
