It's time to explore the new and re-vamped areas that came with the Freya update, and win prizes for doing so! From September 1 to September 14, players can submit screenshots of the new content and win an easy participation prize. The winners of this contest will receive a variety of fun and useful in-game prizes, and their screenshots will be immortalized on the Official Screenshots (http://www.lineage2.com/pds/official/screenshots.html) page of the Lineage II website!
All players in the USA, Canada and the European Union can participate (with the exceptions of Rhode Island and Quebec). There will be a total of 9 winners, or 10, if there is a winner for the Maguen Challenge!
does new content also mean content that already excisted but was updated with freya?
An example of which would be the new Zaken instance for lvl 80+...
or Frint that is now lvl 83 with changes made to the instance spawn. (apparently through the contest guidelines it shows frint as an option)
It's unfortunate that my gui is showing..
The only downfall of this is the fact that shadows are sevearly bugged at UHD resolutions in many cases... otherwise everything else is great..
Course my email won't allow me to send files over 10mb... each screenshot is 24mb or larger in BMP... jpeg does a terrible job of compressing such huge images.

Photoshop, recrompress them into jpeg, but keep the quality high.
Having the "realistic shadows" option up or down is your choice, same as the "out-of-focus effect". "High graphics" means that you should be able to see sharp edges, fine detail, and weather effects, but does not necessarily mean that every box in the Graphics window needs to be checked.
I will update the contest page to mention that "realistic shadows" is option as well.
Screenshots from PTS will not qualify. We will be able to check logs to see if your character was really in the places you send screenshots for or not.
Yes, Zaken was another option, so was Steel Citadel and other places, but Frintezza was chosen.

Why only players from USA, Canada and Europe ? Why subscribers outside this regions are not eligible ?
Because of laws
So, if my country is not a member of EU, I cannot participate?
No you cannot. Because NCwest territories are only EU/US and Canada. They cannot make their contests suitable with different region laws. It costs a lot.
One thing you should know that it doesn't matter if prizes are in game ones(w/o retail value) laws still apply.

One entry per person, does that mean if i have multiple accounts i can only enter once?
and
If it does mean that i can only enter once, do all the shots have to be from the same account. For instance if i wanted a shot from my EM and my OL who are on separate accounts is that allowed?
Sace, I live in Australia and have been playing lineage1 since .77 beta and lineage2 since the korean test server was opened up (proxies ftw!)... my point.. can I please for ONCE be allowed to enter a contest for the game I absolutely love... PLEASE!
I feel locationally challenged on this one :P (and the zaken transformation is something I have drooled over ever since I got to use it on the PTS when it first came out).
The countries eligible to participate in this contest are so because there was a legal agreement established between those countries and the US (where NCWest is based) that allows residents to accept international contest prizes. In countries that are not eligible, there are laws that do not agree with our contest terms, and therefore it is legally impossible to trade prizes or involve those residents in an international competition. Legal contracts on this matter a very serious and cannot be ignored. It is hoped that in the future agreements will be made with more countries so that everyone can participate.
Over the history of Lineage II, we did succeed in making a legal contract with the European Union to allow its residents to participate in our contests. There has been progress thus far and there will likely be more.
To answer some other questions:
"One entry per person." This means that if you as a single person can submit only one entry, regardless of how many accounts you have. All of the screenshots must be taken by the same character.
Countries in Europe but that are not a part of the European Union may not participate. This is because there has not been a legal agreement established with this country yet.
Maybe a dumb question but i just thought of it, Do the screenshots have to be taken during the event dates? I took one a couple days ago that i think is mint is it allowed? it was after Freya was put out.
I think this could be in regards to the declared and passed sanction in the EU specifying the allowances and required declarations of prizes and value or tender between various countries (it's actually almost particularly talking about between the US and EU) that quit openly expressed that prizes of no tender or value are free of any need to be declared (not sure on what value it actually goes up to but it's not bad).
I think you're problem with Australia would have been that we haven't quite gotten off our ***** just yet and made a unified law regarding and allowing the limits on prizes of gift or tender.... Would it help if I told you know I know Victorian law and legislation VERY well?
AUSTRAC which is the Australian wide agency that covers account transactions and money transfers in and out of the country and specifically the legal requirement for them is that any transaction whether by cash or account over $10,000 has to be declared to them but anything under that is fine.
In Victoria the only legislation which would or even could cover this would be VCGA which mainly covers gambling, gaming and betting which clearly states that non-financial or non-financially transferable points or rewards are legally fine.
You know what, never mind it's a pipe dream unless we can come up with a unified act covering international prizes or rewards.
My room mate is a citizen of the united states who is currently residing in Australia, is he eligible to enter this competition?
Since Freya was only released on live servers 1 week ago, screenshots from the past week are allowed. Screenshots from Freya PTS are not.
A person's eligibility is determined by where they reside currently. If, for example, a person is American but is living outside of the USA, Canada or European Union, they are not eligible.
Can I post my screens immediately or should I wait until 00:01 on the 1st of September? :)
We've already gotten some email entries and we had to send them back. They are not eligible unless the email is time-stamped from September 1 through September 14. Please wait until September 1 to send them.
Keeping names showing or not is up to you. You can turn them off by going to your system menu, then Options, and on the Game tab, there are some checkboxes like "Player" and "Other PCs". Unchecking those boxes will remove the names of your character and other player characters. NPC names cannot be removed.
2) Attached to the email, up to 3 interface-down screenshots of the areas specified in your contest category. All screenshots must be no larger than: 1600 x 1200 pixels.
So the 1920x1080 screens I just took don't qualify? :( If not, is there any problem if I just resize or crop them?
Do i have to take pictures only from zones of 1 Category?
For example: Is it possible to take 1 picture from Plains of Lizardmen (80+ Access), 1 from Pavel Ruins and 1 from Beast Farm (All-Level Access)?
Photoshop, recrompress them into jpeg, but keep the quality high.
yes photoshop does exceptionally well.. unfortunately still to compress it.. requires one hell of good amount of compression with dealing with 6-8 megapixel bmps
I can't send my email i keep getting failed deliver :/ and i used the email adress on the website. I wrote it many times but i get the same failed deliver email... any ideas ?

I got the failed to deliver twice; I then sent all 3 photos in zip format instead of individually (individually they were each 3mb, Hotmail delivers up to 10mb) and didnt get a reply of failed to deliver but never got confirmation that you guys received it either. Can you confirm whether my entry got through moxie.
Why anyone has their game settings set to 'bitmap' is beyond me, 'high' does just as nice and saves a ton of HD space. I had not problem getting my submission in and I sent only JPGs... GL all

The inbox is not full and I am continuing to receive entries. Make sure that you are not exceeding the size requirements of what your email program is willing to send.
i also got:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
unfortunately doesn't look like i'll be submitting anything due to not be available to do it.. lack of support to get to such areas.... and majority of the areas requiring people to be 82+.....
They are so Awestruck with my glorious image that i doubt they left the office last night just stood there staring at its beauty, some probably cried but dont chastise them, true inspiration and moving art can do that ;)
I spent around 2 hours making the perfect screen in Beast Farm.I went from place to place, from angle to angle. waited for the **** moon to change its position....and finally after making the ideal shot I realised that this wasn't the category I was submitting pics for :D

You can always improvise by taking pictures of the documents, transfer them to the PC and then email. >< Or else you'll have to go to the dangerous place, lol. :p

I know what you are talking about... I can't even PM the officer or pay with adena...
Anyway, congrats to every winner! I can't wait to see your screenshots!
I wanted to enter this contest too, but I can't make HQ screenshots, because my laptop s**ks... :(
There were so many beautiful screenshots! It was really hard to choose only three from each category. But now the top screenshots have been chosen and the winners have been contacted.
Once we receive all the legal documents back from the winners, we can award the prizes, post the winners list on the contest page, and add the winning screenshots to the Official Screenshots (http://www.lineage2.com/pds/official/screenshots.html) section.
The Winners List has been posted! Come and drool at all of these awesome screenshots!
Prize deliveries have begun but will continue sporadically over the next few days. If some must occur after the server merges, we will contact you again to verify your character and server names.
Thanks, and congratulations to everyone!
Any participants that do not send in their winners release terms by October 13, 2010, will no longer be eligible to receive a prize for this contest. If you have sent terms but have not received a receipt email from us yet, we will continue to look for email, faxes and letters from you until October 13.
I have removed all of the posts contesting the legitimacy of other contestants' entries. If a player tried to participate and did not meet every facet of the eligibility requirements, they were notified and were not considered for this contest. Please keep accusations of cheating out of this thread.

ummm ppl have the right to know why you try to hide facts?
I am not trying to hide facts. I explained that the winners and all participants met the eligibility requirements. You are saying that two of the winners are the same person, violating the one-entry-per-person rule. I personally saw from their entries that they are from two different people. Publicly accusing someone of cheating will not be tolerated on the forums.

How do we know they are from two different people? Different accounts? Different emails? Things easily duplicated my dear.
Different real-life name, different accounts, different characters. We cannot prove identity beyond those steps, however, and we do not ask to.
Imagine a husband and wife that both play Lineage II and both want to participate in the contest. Are we going to deny them just because they live together? Are we going to ask for blood samples, fingerprints and dental records just to prove that they are two separate people? No. All we ask is that they meet the eligibility requirements in the legal terms.

Husband and wife could be colluding together to make the bestest screenshots in whole wide world. Should not be allowed!

yes when you know its 100% proof same person on account you do deny.

If two entries are sent by two different accounts, and we see that the accounts were created by the same person, then those entries are ineligible. All of the accounts in the entries sent for this contest were unique and were assigned to different people.

Lol you cant do that there two different people it wouldnt be fair to them just because they found someone to play with and love.
On a side note Judas WTF!!!! seriously how big is your screen lol

Dude!! No ones mouse can handle that screen shot...epic stiff hand
o.O
the portion of the screen that is taken up by this screenshot is just shy of 1080p..
the total encompassing screen while far larger.. is solved by a number of solutions.. one being quite easy with a mouse that has it's own button for increasing or decreasing speed of the mouse...
combined with acceleration changes in the mouse control panel.. you can move across a screen fast.. while maintaining precision when moveing much slower
