Yes, let's think these suggestion through before we get on our soap boxes. Not to mention I was told in other threads that they will need high command approval from NCKor to make any changes. So enough said....
Another problem with your idea is the dwarven Demi-God stands in the town square.
All the dwarfy sell shops praying to make as much adena as they can sit around her!
Fantasy Island just wouldn't have the same feel to it, as in the market town of Garin!
... also you don't have to pay to port to Garin if you don't want too ... Run! It's just a good stretch of the legs!
Fantasy Island will never work for this because, as mentioned, there is no shop for ore there and no warehouse keeper. Giran is the ideal spot for craft shops. And if you have the craft shops already there, it just makes sense to have other shops there, too (e.g. for selling mats).
Well people already expressed why it's never gonna happen. Giran design is way better than FI unless you put all NPC's in one raw there which also will never gonna happen.
another reason giran is good.
it's got an arena that you can noble port to for cheap, and walk in to avoid the enormous port lag... or you could port there from forts, and soe there from some grinding spots. or just walk from inadrill oren or dion easily.
and people naturally move around giran to get to their locations, which is why there is a crafting sector... it's the number one used warehouse in town.
Giran is a hub because of where it is located, the npcs it has in town and on top of that, it has the lowest tax of anywhere other than the newbie cities(which would never work as a gathering point)
Makes sense that people gather there, any attempt to artificially move the shop center to somewhere else will ultimately fail because Giran is naturally well-suited for it, whereas FI isn't.
The only thing that will change that is a change in the game making it impossible to set up a shop in Giran

Actually Oren has the lowest tax of all the towns.
Oren has the same tax as the newbie villages, so if the tax is 15% on both Giran and Oren then Oren will be cheaper.

giran has a base tax of 10%
oren and all noob towns have a base rate of 15%
all other towns have a base rate of 20%

I was sure the newbie towns where cheapest.
I just checked my script (l2tax) that I wrote to calculate the ingame prices for the ores and you are right.
Giran has the lowest base tax
Oren + newbie villages has the next lowest
All other villages has the 3rd lowest
Hunters Village has the highest
Spider nest and wasteland has a static price (no tax)
Yup. Dorf village (or orc village) is only then the cheapest place to buy ore IF Giran tax is set high (15%) and Schuttgart tax very low (below 5%). If the tax is the same everywhere, Giran is cheapest.
I think Giran will always be the shop hub, however,I did like the one suggestion someone made long ago,in which stores can only be within a certain path (A)u try to set up store on the stairs going to the main wh you will not be able to.I tend to get stuck right there, and many times have to go around the other way to get to craft shops.

Which chronicle are you playing? Now a day you can go freakin' THROUGH the other characters just like you can in that other game with orcs and elves and dual wielding daggers.
