Ok, i've heard 2 sides of this, 1. you can't change weapon master to sheild master or any of the sort. 2. i've heard you can change them for just adena cost without having to get new ess II?

can anyone shed a little more light on this for me?

If im not mistaking, you have to remove your current "SA" and then re "SA" it by getting more essence.

You can do it at gracia npc, costs around 300k adena.

Seems he was mistaken.

I don't know about armor with essence1. But armor with essence2 you can exchange to another. for example "bard > shield master" for ~300k adena.

I've done the same thing zlz talked about with DE 1, it costs ~184k

Do it at the Maestro (forgot actual npc name) at the Gludio airship field.

is the maestro standing next to the airship gatekeeper.. i changed my set there and it wasnt expensive or anything

can you exchange armors with element and enchants?

i did the change with an elemented armour piece, so yep, it works
