This event sounds really quite fun. I just hope I'm home during the day to play. Seems like this will exclude mosty North America 9-5 workers. Like most of us.

On a side note, botters are notoriously ****y and they will try to have their botted supports enter with them in their parties. Have a GM check their connections/configurations when they are ported into the eply killing fields (imo).
Back on topic. Good job with the event; this doesn't just involve planning by the staff, this also involves hands on, in game time spent with players from how I read it. Even if I don't experience a Halloweenie treat I look forward to hearing about them.

all things considered i wont hold my breath on the full drops as mentioned in the event listing. at most the people who log in during this time who have 9 hrs to spend with eyes glued to their monitors looking for elpies will probably see 1, maybe 2 EWS and a bunch of Hair potions. (remember this is TRICK or treat - they could just as easily drop you 20 stems).
that or perhaps the GM instance will actually be a PVP zone and someone will be in there just spawn killing people.
the transform could have -90% pdef as part of the transformation effects...
theres a catch and a troll somewhere here but i can't put my finger on just what it is yet.
I have to hand to you guys in presenting an interesting event. One question I have is how will the rest of the party fair if they are in a say a major aggro room and you are the main tank or DD that gets ported out to the GM event room. Is there some kind of delay for the port so the party can get out of aggro? Does everyone in party have to say it so they all get ported and they don't get wiped?
Cool event :) I hope I will be able to spot some elpy. You could add 5 lollipops to all character like last time with that 7 day special jack lantern pumpkin
It says the whole party gets ported, and whole party gets to do elpies as team.
Second part of the Hallowe'en Event will be good for those who can't be on for elpy hunting. The Jack O'Lantern Mask gives a 10 minute PARTY buff. With 6 party members or more, you could have the buff for the full 1 hour needed to reset.
Can we assume Mask will not be useable in Oly?
A question, do i have to be killing level appropriote mobs? I'm a PP and trying to kill the mobs my level will get me killed fairly quickly... So can i be killing like... for example level 10 mobs when i'm level 80 and still have a chance of finding the elpy?

GMs have definitely responded to late night petitions. Maybe your petitions just warrant an automated reply? Sace/Moxie stated at some point there are US and Euro GMs that work in alternating shifts.

The appearance of an elpy has nothing to do with where you are leveling, how fast you are killing, or what level you are.
WTH:mad: IS WITH ALL THE EVENTS WE HAVE ONLY BEING DURING WORK HOURS ON THE WEST COAST ON WEEK DAYS. alot of us have to work for a living. i have 3 local friends i got to play the game and we all work until 5 PM PTS by the time we get home we have 15 to 30 mins of the event. while the east cost players get all the events and the items. this is just like the elpy event where the people without jobs, alot i am guessing have their moms pay for their accounts, get to goods and the rest of us AKA west coast working joe get screwed. please give me the reason why. :confused:
I see nothing in the Trick or Treat rules that indicate you must be killing mobs. Since the whole party gets to go to Elpy Hunt, having a live PP who can be on watch for stray Elpies, when not buffing, during event should be considered a bonus for parties. Get some friends and go get some experience doing mobs of an appropriate level.
I'm assuming the special Elpies will be GM mobs, so they will not be appearing randomly in areas with no player toons, nor in Peace Zones, but it should be interesting, none the less.
One other Question though: for parties doing the Elpy Hunt, will party looting setting apply?
I have a job on the west coast and I will play this event throughout the allotted time periods!

Most people with real jobs take vacation during that time. Too bad I always travel during this time.
no matter what time they make the even someone will be at work. In all fairness the people on the east coast will be still at work during the majority of the event time. They get a total of 9 hrs if they work til 5. Assuming they wont be able to log on til around 6.
I have school on tues and thurs, and wed. I work til 5 on wed. My last class gets out at 6 and its an hr drive home.
So ya I get 2 hrs max living on the east coast each night to hope for the elpy.
2 hours is 4 to 8 times the the west coast will get. people where complaining about the events where the bots are getting rich. so now the we have GM controled events, where someone is going to miss the event because of poor GM timing. After failing all my moiari heavy craft i have nothing left for an s80 weapon. the event would help so much but there is no way i'm going to get the items because of the bad event time frame. someone said they use their vacation to play the events. i have to ask 2 weeks before the vacation to get the time off. the event starts in less then 4 days. there is no way most 8 to 5 worker could get that time off in such a short notice.

Yes, I totally agree that it's not likely that the NCsoft planners intended to maliciously neglect their smallish West Coast subscribers base like they were stuttering red-headed ******* stepchildren cursed with a free floating prosthetic eye, a debilitating gimp, and a Quasimodean hunchback at a beauty pageant. Sometimes they just DO things. We're not pwned, just overlooked.
NIce one of the few time that working the graveyard shift is benficial. Ill be definatly particcipating in this event. Making my Trick or Treat shout macro now.
I hope that there will plenty of time for teleportation to the GM room for a lot of players,not only for a few of them.

Yeah, not everyone can participate 100% in any event. It is the nature of a game with a presence across several time zones.
Hint: stop playing games when you're not clocked in at the local fast food joint and get some knowledge, then you too will be able to find a cool job and play games when you want... you could be the next Jace Hall if you try hard enough.

1. Will macro function for "Trick or Treat" phrase work or you need to type it manually?
2. In between of being transformed into werewolf and being teleported into elpy room, do we have some time to arrange transform skills on skill bar?
3. After the time to kill elpies will be over, do we have additional time to pick up all loot OR teleportation is immediate?

For those QQing about the times - yea it blows for the PTD people (I feel your pain), but this could be just a trail run for future events where they want to have the most staff around in case something goes wrong. I can see now the rage on the forum if they did this at different timezones and something bad happened and it took a few hours to fix because the "on call" people took an hour to get into the office.
Looking forward to future events like this that are for different timezones.

Why do we need to have 2 different date for castle sieges on Naia and Chronos? just put the castle sieges on the same week and when you want to make any event just make them when its not a sieges week, if you care ofc cause with your event buff you are going to remove many fun on castle sieges.

+1 sieges should be on same date and monitored by GM's.
Last weekend, people cheated by summoning tigers and blocking ways and they remain unpunished (example; Rune Castle siege on Naia). This shouldn't continue imo.

The were previous events which gave similar buffs. During sieges, too. Since every side has equal access to them, they didn't matter; I don't expect them to matter this time around either.

the event falls in the 3 middle of the week days. tuesday, wednesday and thursday. not on a siege day.

Well thats real mature. What the hell is with you people that assume anyone that can participate in this event in unemployed living with their mom? Oh well. Draw whatever conclusions you want. Ill come back on here to tell you about all the cool items I get while Im participating this event.

I'd like to ask Sace or whoever some more specifics about the event:
For example it says "shout trick or treat" does this mean actually in shout (!Trick or treat) or in white chat (trick or treat). Also If I make a Macro for the words Trick or Treat will this work? As you have hinted that the level of creatures you hunt or the amount of creatures that you hunt doesnt matter does this mean the Elpies will spawn randomly (like the Plains of Lizardman Guard?) Can you have multiple Elpies per server? what is the eply to player ratio ? Will there be specific annocements when Elpies spawn and where?
This sounds like a fun event, and the rewards are worthwhile. HOWEVER, the dates and hours leave a lot of people out. Previous Halloween events gave everyone 5 vitality pops, regardless if they could be online during the event or not. My work schedule leaves me out of this one, except for the "punkinhead" part. :( Maybe you could at least stretch it out to a full week instead of just 3 days? Something to consider anyhow. Thanks.

When in the elpy room, if a player dispels the transformation (to use their normal skills to kill elpies), that player (and their whole group, if in one) will be disqualified and all their rewards will be removed. This is to prevent any abuse of the elpy room.
Quite simply, players may only kill elpies while transformed.

Before you are teleported into the Elpy room, you will be asked if you're ready or not. Therefore you will have time to put the skills and actions onto your hotbar.

Elpy killing and loot collection all has to happen within 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes are up, you will be teleported out of the room and cannot return.
Thank you for answers Sace. One little suggestion - ask to put time display for the Eply Room. So ppl won't miss any drop from these little fluffy monsters.
There is an easy solution to this, just follow these simple steps.
1. Target eply
2. Kill eply
3. Pick up drop
4. Repeat
That way you wont miss a thing.
This way will work perfectly only if werewolf won't have any skills. What if it have AoE strike with long-reuse? You would want to gather as much elpies as possible before use it, if transformation have some mass aggro skill or any else.
Guys dont trick yourselves!:p It doesnt mean that cause area is called gm room ,gms will be present this time!:D Probably gm room is an instance place and works automatic!elpies probably respawn to most of outdoors fields after u kill a mob or mb at a random range near all players in the same amount of percent!The fact they didnt made it all day it's probably because the loots are many and varuable!Also if they done it all day some players whould surely missed their works to stay there and w8 for elpies to respawn!!!That's why!;)

If I were *pretending here* But if I worked at NC and had the power to sway such things, Id imagine that switching shifts around a bit (Based on the GM ability, flexibility to do so) but what harm would there be in a few "shift changes" for the time period of the event, to allow for more range of timezones?
As for missing out on events, Im used to that anyway. However, It has been much better this last year or so. Had more fun at events this year than in the previous 4

and the spawn of elpies are minimal which is understandable but
in addition from the time we spend, there is no lower rewards (such as Apigas and Gold Apigas)
i ve been hunting for 2hours + as well, i m not really sure what to make out of this.
instead of this room full of elpies there could be a "killing a monster has a percentage of summoning an elpy" and that elpy could drop those shiet anyway.and that way there wouldn't be any favouritism or monitoring or anything...

Cryo had the idea of GM monitored events , but that doesnt work
with such large population and such a vast world to roam.
if u want to do GM events u need in advance set times that will suit
everyone , so every day at a diffirent time of the week so u will cover
as well school going kids as people who do night shifts.
U will need to give 5 diffirent locations otherwise the crowd will be to
big if u set things up on one location.
And the Rewards, more then one at least 10.
10 /100.000 players is still really few. could make it at least 50.
From all events i have yet to meet a single person that ever had somthing.
the last elpies event was bit cooler, at least evry1 had a chance to have something,
chance to see elpy is like chance to have vesper weapon from catch tiger event lol:P

what determines people to be picked?
since the server restart I am farming in SV but no elpys so far...nor the other players around got an elpy....Since this is only a 3 day event I think the chances that every player on the server get inside the event is a chance by 1/100000000 if this is a Gm event....
Also..why there are no announcements ingame about the event when it begins and ends? o.o'
Gratz to the "Gog" dude that got an Elpy but r u running 4 toons at once and got into the room? If so r u saying that one dude took 4 spots up in the event that 3 others would've have entered otherwise? Again, I am glad "Gog" got in but to take up 4 spots seems a little much to me.

The party bonus was raised but not enough, and parties dont occur in the composition, timeframe and duration all participants want, thereofre ppl "grind" "solo" with boxes missing most fun, that is why exping is "too hard" and "not fun" and the "reason" ppl cheat, as well as the reason they QQ all the time for an easier game and they get it their way unfortunately... :(.

I Thought that entire parties would be invited into the room Mao Mao. At least that is the way I interpreted it; if I am wrong my bad but it seems that "Gog" and sons were all invited into the Elpy spawn room at the same time. If this were true then "one" person got the drops of "4" potential players. Again if I am wrong so be it.

The chance of getting hand picked by a gm is ridiculously small.
There's people here shouting Trick or Treat every 10 seconds without any elpies in sight. Chat bans plz ;)
I actually got my chat ban, was spamming out of frustration together with 3 ppl in party :P
but WoA was empty, we didnt meet one f-ing bot in 2 hours or so, and this is a very good sign.
However, I have a movie from last night in underground colisseum where we are abusing a bot party making them help with tigers, my petition to GM and the automated answer they sent while we continued to abuse the bots. In that petition I asked if it is allowed to use someone's train to hunt your event items, but the automated answer thanked me for interest in the game and told they will look into it, hehe :P. A couple of hours later bots were still there still sleeping our tigers. Therefore I ask here, if you spawned tigers and bots nearby were sleeping them, is this legal or not, maybe they were legit friendly players that were being nice while not knowing english to talk to us, since GMs didnt ban even after petition, no ? Names like frsf are a clear indication of lack of knowledge in the English language...

If you're hunting in a group, all nearby party members in the group can participate in this game. The group members will be teleported and transformed together, and can work as a team to kill and loot the Elpies. Remember, though, that some of the loot items are not tradable.
I just thought that this was the case "Gog" as it is described in the event description. I guess that none of the other "Gogs" were around or did not enter. Again man, I am happy for you and the "Gogs" :)

Any chance of hiring Temp GM's to work through the weekend? I've got nothing better to do this weekend. I'll gladly work for a small, nominal fee. Just grant me godlike GM abilities for a day or two. Oh and yeah, I'll make sure a few players get to see some "elpies" while I'm at it! (Ever see the old Star Trek episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles?" Well, it will be something like that, only with hypomanic roid rage full element resist boss elpies that loot players. Trick or treat, you ungrateful, whining sonuva......!!!!!!) ;)

Technically, if you are able to log in during the specified hours, you ARE participating in the event. It's kind of like being automatically entered in a lottery...and with equally slim odds of winning. :D

The GMs are doing everything manually so there's only so much they can do with this type of event.
Lets say that there's 2 GMs on each server doing this. Each of them spawn a few elpies, pick a winner and then teleport them to an event instance. They let the winner use the wh manager, kill elpies for 2 mins and then return them to the wh again before starting over.
If the whole procedure takes 10 minutes for every winner, then each GM can pick 6 winners per hour. For the 2 GMS we have 12 winners every hour and (12x9x3=) 324 winners for the whole event.
There could be 1 GM or 4 GMs on each server, it could take a bit more or a bit less than 10 mins to finish every event instance, and the winners may be individuals or parties, but the point is that not everyone, or even the majority of us can be winners.

If you can't find the bots I report day after day month after month how are you expected to know the difference between a legit player and a bot? The only person we've seen a screenshot of who got to go in was level 84 4boxing...

people complained the original elpy event wasn't fair due to people aoe'ing. higher levels killing lowbies for monopoly of Elpy spots. they listened and gave an event tailored around those concerns (this Halloween event giving everyone same transformation within a safe elpy hunting environment).
people seem too impatient when its still only day 1 where most people complaining within the first hour. give it time and have fun, a year ago we were getting events once every 5 months (recycled events) things have improved a lot more since then.

4 hours exp on same spot ( open battlefield ) no eplyes no nothing, seems like just ncsoft event :D Dunno how many GMs working on that and summoning ppls but so far in my ally 300+ ppls only 2 got summoned.

Being a somewhat vocal critic I don't expect to see any elpies on my screen but I did get a lot from the last event. Only stones but it saved me a ton of cash. But even if I didn't get anything from the tigers I treat the events as side activities to supplement the obnoxious grind. There's really no guarantee of anything imo.

I've tried to xp in the Forest of Outlaws, Forsaken Plains, no elpies spotted.
Moved to Dino Island, to no avail. Yet it was full of people wondering where the heck the GMs were.
Probably they were running around newbie villages or in the Abandoned Camp, who knows...

Ok, so I tried to participate. To be precise, for 7+ (yes, more than seven) hours XPing in small parties in Den of Evil. Not only I didn't see a single elpy, none of my ally member saw one either.
With chances like that (what's that chance, below 5% per day if you go for the whole event? Below 0.5% per hour?) I'm not sure it's even worth "participating".
Event on Naia just ended... and i am kinda disapointed... i opened 2L bottle of pepsi so i wont fall asleep exped 2 hours before event started and even during until end of event and... nothing it is 3 am... and im all dizzy... and if this is chance to get elpy next to me at this hour i would concider this event unfair to eu players (regardless to some players separatly) that study work and have other things to do during a day... and even so most of those ppl wont even hear about elpy beeing somewhere else than talking island....
altogether we got mastery codexs, gcs, KEs, ews, eas, eaa, bews, icarus weap box, 75 revita pops between the 3 of us and a couple of high grade ls.
probably on Chronos but noone say about Naia i spent 6 hours and my friends to and nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean on 80+ there are good place for exp only in not-fields areas.
It's enough already that EU event goes on US time, let it be at least all map, or not-fields mean not-solo and thus means a lot of people to teleport and give items to?
I'm sure tomorrow will be better. Just like they did during the first eply event, it started out not so good but got better and better. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
P.S. It seems like ya'll are putting much effort into something that will give little return and may actually cause a deficient for the whole. Don't advertise the eplies as an event, advertise the pumpkin head as the event, imo.

Ppl, remember that if everyone gets something the value of that thing drops to 0. You wouldnt be able to sell your icarus weapon if everyone has several, would you ?

There must be a purpose to make such event. An event that is displayed and announced as an event that everyone will have the chance to enjoy, anyone that at least play 4 hrs a day in any time zone? Why announce such event like that and let just a very few "selected" players enjoy it?

I don't feel like that at all. I'm just trying to objectivly calculate the effort to reward ratio for this event ... and it doesn't look like it's worth the effort.

Hello to everyone it is my frist time posting in official forums.
It seems to me that NcSoft can not take the full responsibility of its own actions.
After the server merge firstly tigers event took place. This event needed to farm mobs and after this was done to farm tigers. So from all the interesting components that this game have we were supposed to to spend half of our time farming mobs and the other half of killing tigers.
Next to this brain killing event comes the elpy event which is an obvious try to make the players feel that they are supported by the ncsoft team. I also noticed a change in the bahaviour of the gems regarding their answers on player questions via email.
In order to succeed in its try the method that it is selected is selective randomness since not all players are going to participate in this event but only the ones who are luck to meet the criteria by which the gms will be searching the map.
So in my opinion since this method was chosen it should be supported vividly and gm elpies should be spawning 24 hours per day. Furthermore it should be extended during the weekend so more players can be a part of this event.
If there is no possibility of the above to take place then for one more time i feel that someone is try to deceive me. In parallel i feel that for one more time someone takes me for an idiot.
I personalyl like this event. The last event most of the people I knew made a lot of money by sellign the coins or scrolls. This event motivated us to go out and level, while looking for the elpy. We all know they can't select every single player or party on the server, but the idea of knowing there might be a 1/10000 chance of running into one is enough to get me to hunt. Elpy is my last objective, I don't want themt o hand out vesper or dynasty like candies.
As I see on the screen, all previous buffs on character are removed while transformed...
They will back on character after end or will be removed and we need to rebuff again?
