Today I came online with a good feeling. No school, no work so lets play a bit. When I logged in I noticed one good friend of mine is logged in but it was kinda weird a knew he is at work right now and he cant play there so I PMed him. Suprisingly no reply... So I called him to work and asked him if it is him. NO it wasn't. So I imediatly wrote Petition. Friend came to my house and on my other PC tried to log into his master account.... Funny... Password changed, no notification about pass change in his mail box and both passwords to his 2 accounts changed... We have been watching how his chars are running around us ingame writing all kind of petitions ingame on ncsupport page and funny thing... all the response was automat jibber jabba ... ingame petition told us to write on web support and there as everyone playing this game know it takes few days to get reply... we even asked ingame for GM assistance by hero chat... And now because noone was there to give a real help we will spend couple of weeks to get accounts back to get items back and what a funny thing my friend will never get all his items back... because ncsoft never give back all items... and probably the person who did this wont be even punished and will keep stealing items of others too.
I kinda ask myself... what support we get for 13 eur a month (when not counting services we buy or collectables) ... thats not a support thats a JOKE...
I feel your pain same thing happened to me a a couple months ago. Only difference is I was actually playing the game, got disconnected when I tried to log back in my pword had been changed. Without going into detail I did got my account back and and my gear. So working with support does help it just take patients.
well my friend was collecting materials to build moirai and dynasti set and he had almost all mats collected and i am sure ncsoft wont return adena and materials just full items
Care or not, they seem to be acting on it which is what the client/customer/player cares about. It's got HGM attention and I'm sure it's being handled - although the method isn't something we players may care for but it's all business ;)
A friend of mines told me on WoW you can get some sort of device, a code generator so that the password actually changes every time you log in. It's hardware, keylogging is totally pointless!
I'd willingly pay for such a service, I'm already using something similar for my bank account and it's great for security (imo).
An idea of mine about this stealing account matter.
As NC input an account ability that when code is changed someone can use his old code (make lets say the old code valid for 3~5 days) to shut the accounts movements and ability to loggin temporarily!
Example: i see that my account is stolen i immidiately enter the page use my old passwords and block the account (semi ban)! to unblock it i will just have to go through petition and give you my codes and details so you will give me new codes!
Further more as NC you can locate my ip when i log in to you and i assume you keep some track of it! So in customers willing you can give them the last 10 ips that logged in the account. I assume that since the eula prohibites account sharing and since i as owner of account ask you to give me the last 10 ips loggins you are Fully law capable of doing that.
As NC you cant hunt every single account theft but some members as individuals can do it.
And i know this hunting wont be law obidient but they started it!
For example:
Like an year ago, there was a bot shouting in Giran about a cool new bot which was supposedly free, l2 swift. There was some kind of an event and at that time events were designed for bots and that ad said profit now from event etc.
I was curious about it and downloaded it. There was no trojan warning, my antivirus found it safe, however the files were curious as it was way too small for being any kind of serious software. I "installed" it and put in some bogus data and every 10 seconds was trying to connect not to the l2 server but to some irc channel on an australian host.
I bet many ppl wanted their items back during those days...
M
P.S. Also some "cracks" for bot software just do the same thing, so I think ppl get what they deserve in the end. GMs should check for violations and ban the accounts that were "hacked" that way.
I've heard this story before. A friend of mine had this happen to him in game.
It was the weekend and it took days(seemed like weeks) for my friend to get a proper respawnce back from support.
Personally I would support a section in the NC master acct. services that would lock the acct. by typing in any previous loggin with matching password and the original disk key number.
In other words if someone came in with the master acct. login and password and reset everything and I figured out someone was on my acct. I could simply go to a section on the PlayNC master acct. Press a "I have had my acct. hacked button" which would bring up a section to enter in the game disk key. Once that would be entered in any prievious matching loggin and password would lock the acct untill NC/L2 could sort out that acct.
Doing this should also automatically send up the red flag to the Support team alerting them so they can deal with the matter as soon as someone is available.
My friend did get his gear back. What he didn't get back was what was considered consumeables.
S gems, Brez, Ancient Adena, Adena... he basically lost billions since selling consumeables in game is how he makes his adena and usually has everything he has in game invested in them.
I just think something like this could avoid some damages and hurt the profitability of hacking accts. as well as taking some of the presure off the support from having to be there instantly.(Hey! I'm on my lunch break here... How much can they take off your acct. in a half hour?) <<===JOKE.
hm, another point i think, dont have same pass / login for master account as ingame. if they somehow manage to keylog your normal game login, they still wont be able to access your master account on plaync.
The real joke is my 2 account hacked and Gm's Banned in 20 hours. i lose lvl 86 and lvl 84 characters. 1 day after i learned hacked and I talked to gm since 2 month but they said "GM's decisions are final, not up review"
i remember in old days when my friend acc was 'hacked' by some noob, me and few other friends petitioned it, we even talked with a gm in game (but must be low range gm) and he said he cant even freeze acc or temp ban, and the real owner need to send mail to ncsoft, of corse when the real owner back from school few h later it was too late, toon was deleveled gear moved sold ....he had of corse his acc, they relevel his toon, but no gear at all..
so resume: ncsoft support is what to say, lol rly low, we pay month by month 15$ and when we need fast answer we have automatic answer from gms.
and i dont understand why low range gms cant have option temp ban players/freeze acc..
some1 can say ppl gona petition other ppl to temp ban them-OK, but if the owner say it was fake and all is OK with acc the guy who made a joke - will be banned. -easy solution, and im pretty sure it can help alot.
You get a support for 13 eur/month, thats obvious.
I asked what support, meaning how fast we get responces and how often can you ask for ingame assistane and you get some instead of automatic replys, not for how much
P.S. Also some "cracks" for bot software just do the same thing, so I think ppl get what they deserve in the end. GMs should check for violations and ban the accounts that were "hacked" that way.
yes Maybe thats true maybe they deserve it but some people are not PC pro to know all posible treats (actualy many of them done even speak english) but i am sure my friend did not used anything like that...

Well i have been using NCsoft support for about 4 times in last 2 months and some easy solutions on easy questions were answered incorectly by the support people (i thought they should know it the best) ... they said something but on the web the rules were diferent and they had to appologise. even som easy issues are beeing processed for few days and by easy i mean really easy not like prooving that it is my master account or so... as my friend told me he still didnt got reply to his support ticket (maybe now after we all went to sleep it is there but yestrday.... nothing just automat)
S gems, Brez, Ancient Adena, Adena... he basically lost billions since selling consumeables in game is how he makes his adena and usually has everything he has in game invested in them.
well yes thats what i wrote ... consumables wont be returned and thats why it is so bad because he had mats there for dynasti armor moirai and dynasti weapon almost ready for craft... for example on WoW they return all items sometimes even few more then was actualy stolen. people from NCsoft have such logs they can check how many mats he had...

I didnt say your friend used, but in general, all ppl that ask items back should be checked for botting and if botting is true the account should be banned permanently. Also, all support requests from cheaters should have the same result, not only not return the items, but also ban the account for at least some time, so the bots will either learn how to defend from trojans or stop botting altogether.

ah i missunderstood you back there i thought you ment to ban every account that was hacked... yes i agree about cheking all account for cheats when asking for support and if there is proof to ban them fo some time
+1
I never said you did told but i was just defending him :)
I have sent you ID of his ticket submited to support.
Its bit strange also that you do all the work for your "friend"?
A few simple things if u care about your account:
1.) Dont share accounts. (you have no clue if your friends computer is safe)
2.) Use updated Anti Virus Protection
3.) Turn on your S/W firewall (Windows Firewall etc)
4.) Also use a H/W firewall (NAT router etc)
5.) Turn on UAC if you login as local administrator.
6.) Dont use any kind of third party software that in any way is designed for Lineage2 (can be something as simple as a Lineage2 screen saver app)
Also do not use same log in and password on fan site/clan site. Many WoW hacks were from hackers hacking the fan site and guilds forum, where many people simply use their game ID and password!
For example:
Like an year ago, there was a bot shouting in Giran about a cool new bot which was supposedly free, l2 swift. There was some kind of an event and at that time events were designed for bots and that ad said profit now from event etc.

wait wait wait....
So.... the other threads where you were stating that you have been hacked and that NC is a noob, time to storm the castle, etc etc - it turns out that it really was your own fault....
I would say I can see a huge improvement in customer service over the past few months.
Ok, I take it back :D I got a warning today for not running gameguard, but I have never messed with the client files and as far as I know gameguard is always running :o None of my other chars that are pretty much constantly ingame together with my main received the warning. I instantly started up a lineage 2 client aswell, and like I thought, gameguard IS running.
1st friend lost account, wrote to NCSoft and got info that's info what he send is wrong (he is owner of account... now was owner)
2nd friend lost account and stuff, wait 2 weeks for replay, then NCSoft give him naked account and when he ask to return stuff they wrote. In return he got that theres 2 owner for account, they cant find who is real so they ban account (of course that account was played from 1 IP and in moment of steal was different BUT its not a clue of steal).
So friend/owner got nothing - thief got all his stuff. Now pass almost month so NCSoft "wont have logs" - so case closed.
3rd and 4th lost items for game - someone log in and move items for trash. NCSoft didn't done anything.
2 lost accounts, items from 4 account lost (from 2 thief propably sell it and got around 1b adena for "10min work at moving stuff from account to account")
After that I stop paying for my dwarf and support account cause - so if I lose now my main account I wont be lose 3x13 euros per month.
And even I lose account - I wont be back game cause waiting 2 weeks to get back account and hear "you lose all at your 84/75/75/75 char? Who cares!"
My friend told joke:
- Junior GMs: Hey GMs i see 2 party bot at cata. Nicks xxx and yyy.
- GM: Ban them!
<10min later>
- Junior GMs: Hey GMs I see 5+ party bot at cata. Nicks xxx, yyy... ban?
- GMs: NO - it's my month cash for car fuel.
#2 happens a lot when two people know all of the info for an account and there is an ownership dispute. NCSoft simply bans the account and no one gets it.
#3 & #4 can simply be a case of account sharing where someone got mad and deleted items. Not enough info given to determine the situation but I've seen that scenario before (not to me, however. I've never shared account info with anyone nor allowed them to give it to me), sometimes even among siblings.
I've seen it where other people in clan know the log on info for someones account. That person gets caught botting by a clan member. As punishment, they pillage the account then boot them from clan.
