but getting passed lvl 76/80 starts to get difficult because the specific requirements by many that are higher then that increase significantly.... such as being on at precisely the right time and for the right length of time.... top it off with the right enchants and etc and so forth..
otherwise they won't even look at you..
which is utterly irritating and sucks.
and this is coming from a bd which should be in high demand but more often then not.. is lfg most of the time...
Here is the sad truth. Unless you are going to be leveling with friends that you know will be dedicated to the inhumane game grind, leveling a support toon can be a daunting task.
A tank is a good all around toon. Tanks are pretty much needed for everything.
Now, finding people to help you out is going to be tough. Many are jaded from past experiences. I can guarantee you many , like myself have helped level support toons only to see those very same toons leave to the "bigger" or "top" clans.
That is why many people choose to box support these days. Yes, some people want to race to 85/80/80/80. But some box because they have been burned by past support class members leaving clan.
Anyway, sure, if your level 83 and join my clan as a live support toon. I will help you. But , how will you get there?
Your best bet. If you really want to play a support toon. Roll a Titan and level your box buffer up yourself. That is the harsh reality and truth.
Not really a waste of time. Most clans would rather take in a live player then a box whenever possible.
That being said, you have a HUGE climb to get where you can start supporting most players here now, with a majority of people being 80+. Soloing that first 75+ levels is not fun on a toon that you don't enjoy playing.
My suggestion. Leveling to 40 is fairly quick now days. Read through the skills list and pick a few that interest you. Choose the one that you think you can handle playing for months on end with minimum parties, whether it ends up being a support class/DD/Mage ect.
I myself have many alts. My SWS is one that I just can't play for long periods of time, due to just clicking on a mob, and waiting for it to die, then selecting the next one. I finally started using it with my wolf, so I at least have something else to occupy my time when I am leveling it, but I know I personally could never take it to Main levels without loosing interest in the game and quiting. Other support toons such as WC or a Healer class with Inquisition at least give you options to click different things while you XP.
But with that being said some may enjoy the slower safer pace of an SWS, expecially when just learning how to play the game.

i agree, of the classes mentioned ive only played bd beyond a grade - i didnt have any of the issues judas mentioned - its a class ive had np soloing and equally ur welcome in parties when u want a change.
Dunno man, but personally most of my top toons are support classes (BD/SWS/SE/DC). Had no problem getting them to 76 using the noobie buffs. Prolly a good idea to lvl a pet along with em, i found DC werked the best with the wolf. Once ur past 78 parties tend to be a non issue..
If you want to solo level a mage, all you need to do is level up a Kooka. Once you get in a clan, you should be able to find an SE/EE that will follow behind and buff/recharge you. My problem though, even though with other RPG's I always play nuker, for some reason I just can't seem to put the effort into my SH to get him out of C grade. I play for maybe an hour at most, and need to change toons. And its not a problem with dying, I just get bored playing my nuker toons.
That being said, if you do decide to go nuker, it is a solo lifestyle. A majority of the time a nuker is out soloing with their bird, or having an SE following them around to give someone for them to talk to. Nukers don't party well with Melee toons, unless your doing the killing and getting them to pick up the drops.

I find unless your trying to get into a top clan support toons don't really have much problem with groups after a grade. Also people doing kamas etc all the time at the low lvls. I really just depends what time of day you play.
The most desired lvl for certain classes for higher lvl stuff are as followed though:
BD- 74 for most xp ptys, 78 for raids/break through dungeons and some of the very high lvl xp spots.
SWS- 78 for most things, but a lot of xp ptys will take a sws that is atleast a grade preferablly 66, but not many use vitality anyways in xp so I don't think it matters much.
SE- 70 for alot of xp ptys. 76 for reasonably people for raids though if most of the pty is 80+ they'll prolly want you to be 79 for mana gain you get pow at 78, but most people will have a dc so.
PP- useless to most unless its 83 its the sad hard truth
Bishop- 76 for balance though alot of people who are just looking for a healer will take you under that. 79 is the prime bishop lvl though where you get salvation and cleanse, and have already learened balance.
OL- you need friends or a clan desperate for one and then they'd prefer you were 81 this is a hard but awesome class to lvl.
WC- 78 ppl just want prophecy you might get lucki if a lower lvl grp is going though.

The time I was killin NK's trains was waaay back when i was running SiliconKnights in the Nightmare ally...FYI his trains were not tagged. He would typically put his main in the hall kissing a cata walls all nite. It made it easy to figure out which trains were his. After several months of regular deaths i got a pm from him while i was running thru aden town with "please stop killin my trains QQ". I dont even remember your toon being around at that time but i am certain omni's was, so you can say you were naive if you want.
DR was not 'desperate' to drop wars with a guy using radar ganking c-b-a grade mele on a s grade nuker and then pretending to be uber. Since we had the numbers with a huge lvl spread it didnt make sense to war a 3-5 man clan. TBH there was no big issue with NK while i was in DR....i mostly hunted him when i was in Trixie's clan AncientWisdom with my nuker. I believe you commented on my nuker once after i 2 shotted you outside of dion wilst you and your cohorts were gate hopping. :)

As for partying Nova. I barely party clannies, why would I party nova?
Here's what happened to me. I have a 77 sts then got another account with an SE. My clannies always wanted me to play SE to help out healing and stuff. So without even realizing it my SE became my main o.O The sts got kicked to the curb and my SE hit 80. I wound up selling off the sts gear to upgrade the SE. I agree sts is a solo type toon. I don't like doing raids with them because it pulls aggro. I got tired of killing 5 or 6 mobs and having to recharge it with my SE.
As for the remarks about leveling support classes I agree with some of whats said. It is true that not always do I get asked to play them,but I like them still. Let's face it at level 80 there is no soloing. So as slow as it is to play sws it's a little better if you use a fenrir I find. Box yourself a WC and go at it.

It's fun to play support class.You can also be 81+ and accepted in most clans because you don't need super gear to do so. Almost everyone ingame wants to get pvp points, and not help others. It will be a hard time for you to level up a support class, unless you have someone to help you.
