Song of Warding in High5

"Song of Warding and Chant of Shielding skills were either removed or returned with SP as the skill acquisition level changes."

1st we get crazy chickens stealing 7 d/s each 7 seconds and we forced to enchant main songs (warding, earth, wind, renewal) as high as possible, wasting hundreds millions of adena for mastery codexes to get enchants nullified in future updates. Nice move.

yep it seems that is the way things are going.

I don't imagine for a second, that anyone will bother looking at the logs to see how many BoGs or SP we wasted trying to + up the skill in the first place.

It's possible that that means it's removed only if you don't meet the new level requirement when the update hits.
Let's Sace confirm this else I predict lot's of petitions at go live when ppl see their skills at zero oe..
I do hope that people who already enchanted the Song can keep it.
And not only Song of Warding. Song of Invocation gets a later learning level too.
I think I will make Screens of my enchants just in case something happens.
well it will really suck if sws that spent so much adenas/gc/sp/and xp in older times get their skill deleted....... for sure will suck
I realize that English may not be the first language of all L2 players on these forums (probably true for most players actually), but this concern is pointless.

Changes in Skill Acquisition Level

* Song of Warding and Chant of Shielding skills were either removed or returned with SP as the skill acquisition level changes.
* Sword Singer
o Song of Hunter: Before (49) Now (40)
o Song of Warding: Before (40) Now (43)
o Song of Invocation: Before (43) Now (49)
o Battle Whisper: Before (60) Now (46/52/60)
* Warcryer
o Chant of Shielding: Before (40) Now (48)
o Chant of Predator: Before (48) Now (40)

There is the relevant information. The first line doesn't make sense in English to me, and I am a native born English language speaker. So not surprised it make no sense to people who don't read English like a native.
These skills are not being deleted from the game. The level at which toons can get them is being changed.
So, someone complained about losing an OE'd skill without compensation. The skill deletion applies to characters lvl 40 to 42 for Song of Warding and characters lvl 40 to lvl 47 for Chant of Shielding. It should also apply to characters lvl 43 to 48 for Song of Invocation, but that one is not in the first line of comment.
I'm sure someone would like to know exactly how your C grade toon OE'd these skills! I would! Toons above the new acquisition level should not be affected, just those who have a skill which at their current level they are not entitled to under the new rules. Those same toons will get different skills which they will need to learn, but should get back the SP invested in the ones they lost.
I have not seen a valid complaint yet in this thread. Hopefully, I have made the matter clearer.

hope you are right but i cant understand why not sace confirm this

It takes what? a few GC to put it back to +9.
It takes what? a few GC to put it back to +9.

You think there are no sword muses with +15 and more oe'd songs?
I can tell you that get even this +15 isn't a few GC so...
lol +9 hahaha not everyone is a lowbie on this forum :)
yes, i think the translations are still a bit off (of course they were stated they werent final patch notes).

for example "death spike dmg reduced".

as i understand it was increase from 50% to 100% for Phantom summoners in HF1, however in HF prt 3 it was further reduced to 80%. i think this translation is in relation to the reduction from 100% to 80%, as i cant imagine they reduced the original deathspike even lower.

anyway... <takes his Deathspike hijacking topic elsewhere>
If you're 40-42 you'll lose your Song of Warding and will get the sp back, then on 43(new learnign lvl of song of warding) you can learn it again.

close thread.
Yea will probably only be removed when you're too low for the new learning level ... relax! :)
song of warding +12, but i agree getting it past +15 is quite hard and quite useless, too
got almost every single second class skill +15 w/ normal books =S BB 1.6kkk SP xD

anyway they should keep the skill enchant. wouldn't be fair to remove it.
By the way i think nc should rise the success % for 2nd job skills enchant. For a lv 85 toon it's way easier to get a 3rd job skill +10 (which is 2/3 to the max) than a 2nd job skill +20. Seems weird, no ?

Yes, +12/+13 or so is nice to have (can get there with normal codex without too much risk of failing), but I'll definitely not go higher than that unless I have absolutely nothing else left to OE. Seriously, using a mastery codex to enchant a song/dance just so that you save one single mp more? So over the course of one 20 min buff round, you save 10mp in total. Yeah, that sure is worth it.

Yes, it is pretty ridiculous that you need twice the amount of OE steps to max a 2nd class skill than a 3rd class one. And since you pretty much need to use mastery codex from +15 on or so (since it would on average cost more to get back to +15 after failing than just using a mastery codex to go from +15 to +16), it is also way more expensive. Increasing the OE chances for 2nd class skills (like, 80%+ at +20 when you're 85) would definitely help. Right now, going from +14 to +15 on a 3rd class skill is 54% - the same chance as going from +22 to +23 on a 2nd class skill, while going to +30 is 24%. It just makes no sense that 2nd class skills need more OE steps AND have lower chances for those.

uh, what about if you have to resing for others during PvP while you still have songs? i rather think its good.

and you might save 1 mp if its first song, if its 12th slot you save more MP.

I do not think so. It reduces the base cost of the song (the 60mp) by ca. 1 MP for each OE, but then you still get the penalty for each extra song - you can't enchant that, it is independant from the song you do, just the amount of songs/dances which are already on you counts (of course the whole thing, base mp cost+penalty, is still influenced by clarity, -skill cost songs, etc.).

If I am completely wrong here, correct me - but that was my understanding of how things work so far.

Of course, yes, if you enchant all your songs to +20/+30 or so, it is pretty good overall if you have to redance/resing. But it just costs too much adena and too many codex to get there.
actually i and a few other bd/sws tested this.. and yes... if you enchant your songs/dances for cost.. it also reduces the multiplicated result of continous dancing...

My experience has been that it is better to dance/sing with the low enchant ones first because they do seem to take a bigger penalty when done at the end. However, I've never sat and tested to make sure, but I'll do that later today and let you know.
The math is pretty simple.

No enchant 3 dance
60 + 120 + 180 = 360 MP total

All 3 at + 1 (58 mp each)
58 + 116 + 174 = 348 MP total

Numbers may not be exact but the enchant for cost is exponential.
correct, now factor in the effect on 12 s/d active which most xp & pvp parties will have.. add also for pvp the effect of having to re s/d whenever a key player from your party has lost s/d due to cancel/death even when there are still s/d up on the sws/bd.. re s/d with still s/d up get's hit by a huge mp penalty as it will count each new s/d as 13th or w/e count after the last s/d that's up is.

also real high oe s/d can sustain mp relatively well without the need of clarity (both sws & bd having +20 or higher oe)

as you can see oe s/d is a must for pvp players and a nice to have for pve
Ah, so there is not a fixed "penalty" for extra dances (1*penalty for 2nd dance, 2*penalty for 3rd dance), but instead the base cost of the extra dances is multiplied by 2, 3, 4 and so on. Interesting, and yes, then OE for cost would be worth more indeed. Guess I go enchanting then :)
Why do you guys act stupid ? or are you just plain DUMB ?
If english is your second language do NOT jump to any conclusion, PERIOD.

If you are under the NEW level of acquisition for the skill, IE lv 40, your skills gets deleted and you get SP back.

If you are 76+ where you had enchanted your skill, IT DOESN'T AFFECT you. So quit your QQ and play the god **** game and shut up with rumours.
Hi Thundera welcome to yesterday, we have since then derailed the topic to discuss oe impact on s/d :)
And then someone posted this.

The math is pretty simple.

No enchant 3 dance
60 + 120 + 180 = 360 MP total

All 3 at + 1 (58 mp each)
58 + 116 + 174 = 348 MP total

Numbers may not be exact but the enchant for cost is exponential.

Dances/songs cost 30 more per song/dance added, making this guys math way off.

Should be 60+90+120= 270mp

As for oe'd dances and their costs, I havent really checked how cost stacks up, I have +7 time on fury and +7 cost on the rest atm, so dont really feel like checking it.

What really helps though, if you are doing massive dancing/singing (like the full 12) is the inner rythm OE and clarity buff.
you forgot to mention oe focus mind passive

btw oe inner rhythm was a bit of a let down boost difference between +1 and +15 wasn't that big, still OK I guess but focus first on +1 Inner Rhythm +12 Focus Mind and at least +9 S/D..

also if lucky get a passive clarity augment.. had one on my pvp bow way back.. suxs hard as it's slow to re-sing that way but then I moved servers and lost it anywayz..
Focus minds helps mp regen, not mp cost. Or am I missing some vital OE?
Focus minds helps mp regen, not mp cost. Or am I missing some vital OE?

Well, it's useful to regen more mp between dance rounds :)

Although the OE on it is not really powerful unless you go very high (like 0.1mp/tick per plus or something like that)

And yes, OE on inner rhythm is also a bit disappointing.

also if lucky get a passive clarity augment.. had one on my pvp bow way back.. suxs hard as it's slow to re-sing that way but then I moved servers and lost it anywayz..I got passive clarity on a one-handed sword. I play a bd >.<

Well, anyways, seems I got to enchant my dances a bit more. Got them only at +10/+9 so far, but every time I try to enchant higher, I fail and it takes me 5-6 codex just to get back to +9 :( So silly, medusa to +15 was no problem at all, but the stupid dances pwn me hard.

Clarity is really essential. 20% less cost for dances/songs even on non-OE clarity is huge.
plain and simple. OE s/d are always best at the end of ur s/d round. less mp is always drained this way. Inner Rythm is essential for OE also tbh. Clarity is just a duh. dont get it confused on is OE tho. if clarity is +13 for Magical skills it is still just +0 for s/d clarity. focus mind does help regen if it is +13 or higher i have noticed. And what some Sws/BD's forget to realize is MP wise Dynasty w/Essence 1/2 is better because of its passive s/d clarity. And from my understanding which i think someone allready pointed out u will only loose song of warding if you are not at the new lvl requirment to learn it. Not sure about the Enchanting tho.....i wont be happy if i loose mine. getting it to +17 again would suck but its a game. get over it and just play.
