This is almost correct. The official L2RU say that they will stop olympiad period on the 28 of december because of the changes introduced by H5 wich will come live few days later.
why they apply bussines model only in korea ? (customer feedback, bot protection etc. deadlines for new updates) Here we got good Sace and bad SOON... f2p apply faster updates... for me it is terrible - also every l2 announce all things 1-2 month before... only L2 NA cant put here date of stupid PTS start... it is secret ??? why ?? we pay for l2 same as koreans right ?
From my point of view they should apply L2RU economic model ASAP on EU/US. I'm sure the 2x rate will bring back many players (or make today's players create more accounts). Look how popular are x2 xp weekend events !
L2ru is not f2p. yes, it's possible to play free, but almost all players are paying for additional services. I don't say it's good or bad. overall this semi-f2p raises the players community and at the end profit of L2ru is higher as NCWest gets from EU/NA...

If you play for free with them, you get everything we get here by paying. So, it sounds pretty free to me.
Pay what to compete ? Premium account is like 8 euro ! For that you get 2x xp ! You don't want that ? It's less that what we pay atm ! There is nothing in L2ru that make you better if you pay, go check before saying anything.

.ru servers are little more than privates with GM shop and all. They twisted the arm of NCSoft into this deal that they get updated code and official recognition in exchange for some fee, because they would have done it anyway illegally, minus timely updates.
+20 weapons in privates, +20 in .ru etc. Ppl are making very good money there, however, they do offer some services, such as keeping the bots out, but that is part of their business model, if ppl can bot, they wont purchase anything, getting the stuff almost free with only the bot software (eventual) payment.
This is really far from the game we have here, in theory it is possible to have the best of both worlds, like Koreans have, i.e. ban the cheaters and keep the servers as they are now, that will bring back many ppl as soon as they hear this is not longer botland and cheaters dont have such a huge advantage anymore (once level 90 cap is introduced, tho, things will get ugly again).

Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam hasn't High Five update too still.
The Russian Official Lineage 2 servers and their services are joke. It is only popular mainly because it is free, translated to Russian and next of them as on another Official servers too much fewer the bugs as on a private server.
But if you want to be there somebody you have to spend a lots of real life money for different extras what is the Russian Item Shop give to you. If you are enough rich to pay it you can play all time about 13x or 14x XP rates.
Example the RiseOfAbyss (ROA) clan and their alliance payed about 1000-1500 Euro money for the Innova, that they can enter to Antharas. If you buy there a VIP account for 8-10 euro than you can enter to every instance (Kamaloka, Boss Instance) alone too. So 128 players entered to Antharas it is 128*8 euro.
One of Russian player told me if the NCwest makes the monthly payment to half of currently or they will use f2p payment model, the bigger part of the ruoff players will come to our region.
But the Korean, Japanese item shops are perfect ones! These items can help you in XPing (they can buy Milk potions what we got from event) and they can change different colors for their titles and can buy some extra pets too for some extra money, but these pets/mounts don't make difference between the player who want buy extra item and who don't want buy them.
In August of 2010 one member of the Korean NCsoft told they will take extra items to us too in 2010, but seems still we didn't get these maybe with the High Five update.

the only instance that is not available for not-premium-account users is solo kamaloka, a place where you kill mobs and then get reward depending on your score. That is the ONLY thing that is blocked for free players.
Koreans have same solo kama if they play from PC-club or whaterver.
Our solo kama is disabled.

And also I heard that Korean and other Asia regions got more extended item shops recently, so if you don't have full list of items there, you can't say what is perfect.

there was +16 AM in Orc mage on TEON... and was enhanced during enhance your weapon event.. havent seen any other +16 AM on NAIA yet..
