The players need an environment to check things out without incurring the billions of adena and SP required to do this on retail. It's hard enough achieving this in the first place, never mind finally attaining something and finding out you've wasted all your efforts but most of all time.
Also it would be good of you to keep the PTS servers open for a little while longer than before even after the official servers are up. Just a few months so players can do thorough testing before it's wiped clean.

PTS should not be about grinding and about working hard for items it must be solely about actually TESTING stuff!

The PTS is only provided to us (NCNA) to see the new changes.. it has nothing to do with testing... all the testing is done on the NCK side with the PTS.

Wrong, the PTS is there just to make sure everything is translated correctly.
yes I know the official reason for the pts, I was referring to the testing being talked about by posters above, and we, the players, want to test the things that interest us about the update as well... As they seem to be more inclined lately to give us a little more of what we have been asking for.
every PTS some players want to test things. But when they try and test the few things other players come around and greif the testers so nothing gets done. So the testers come to the forum asking for help to stop the greifers so they could test stuff.
Happened on every pts that I have been around. So asking for the pts sooner than NC wants to give it to us for testing is a waste of time.
I dont agree. PTS is used for testing too, there have been major bugs found and fixed before the game went live. No matter what the official reason is, we all know there are more ways to use PTS in the benefit of both players and staff.
That being said, LordRiot is right. We were asked recently on a thread about keeping PTS up for longer what we would like it to be like. I think his points are fully valid and I subscribe. Broken things in Oly, subs, etc, especially with them changed, will be hard to fix if we cant test them at least a bit. Sure, GMs can test before, but it is nothing like the almost real thing, which is player testing.

No its for the devs so we can report everything they have screwed up so they can get it fixed before it goes live.
PTS is still up, so is not happening yet, but with a firm date for the TW badge fix, that will cut down on the other items which NC here is working on. Still, live at the start of February or March makes sense, due to the changes coming to Oly. It's likely that we will see a Valentines Event, which could easily push High Five live into March or even April. They could also be doing more testing on it to be sure it causes no unexpected problems. That I will not complain about.

Considering the criticism they received for some errors made last year, they might prefer to make us wait an extra month or 2 to be sure no major errors have slipped past them. If I was making the decisions for them, I'd make that decision, and take the whining in the forums over the anger.

than u would know WHY

Not really, some links point to wrong places, some dont point at all, some are missing, etc. It is not only a translation issue, but that is indeed the biggest part.

I think it will be on February 8. Thinking in two weeks of PTS, and time between announcement and the beginning of the PTS itself.
with the changes to olympiad id say they want to have it up and running before or on the 1st of February.
Cant be before easily, because heroes for February would have not been decided yet, ppl would not be able to get their points calculated and rewarded tokens, etc. It can be done, but the chances to screw up are huge, better wait for the month to finish. Since 1st is also Tuesday, it is the perfect day.

imo delay starts be unfair and h5 1-4 in one update is REALISTIC... public patch 1 month before live is normal NA practise...they neve public patches 3 month before right?
I don't care if we get Part 4 as well in one go.
What I am more surprised of is the speed we got this PremilinaryPatch Notes for Part 4.
NC Soft still wants to please their customers and I like it that we get translated Patchnotes even if we have to wait 3 or even 6 months until we get the actual update itself.

It's because Russian L2 official is operated by a different company, not by NCsoft. NCsoft only provides them the game and depend on their contract, RU can make changes to the game freely within the contract agreement.

While PTS can be put up any day, I think HF will be on 1st of something, most likely Feb, that is making the most sense because of valentines event among other things, however, common sense and NCNA dont meet too often.

Please let's stay on topic. The reason why I'm asking about Part 4 is that in this rather small patch the Top Raids become killable again what will finally bring more pvp action and fun in l2 world.
I also suggested long ago that we should get them all in one. It makes sense for translators too, why would they translate twice, better do it in one go and we have the ability to also recover some of the lag we have from Korea.

That quest is also bugged in korean live if i remember correctly
Thats the super-hard quest inside the actual Lair of Antharas that's bugged. Where you need like 5 parties and the place can't handle more than 2-3 or something.
I thought this was a solo quest with solo raids.. I forgot that we never get good gear that easy... I was hoping for this quest alot.
haha... No they aren't solo raids lol. These are 84/85 raids that you'll need a full party for. Some of the dragons also have AoE para and those new ridiculous bleeding/poison debuffs that sound like a worse version of old-school chimera poison all over again.
Since it's NC Soft you'll either have a hard time getting the dragon summoning items to drop in Dragon Valley in the first place or there will be really rare dragons that you can never get to spawn to finish the **** quest... Probably both :)
The nice thing is the quest is level 80 so you could probably finish it on alts also in time I guess.

Nothing about a change in the Birthday Buff pot which was mentioned at one time on Korean PTS. That change was from one 12 buff pot to three 4 hour buff pots, which sounded like a good deal. Oh well, we get some stuff, and not others.
All Dynasty good at level 76 seems okay. Assume that actually getting the parts and recipes for Dynasty will stay the same, particularly for the quests.
Top RBs going from much too hard to maybe too easy will be good for those who can get them.
This is just a small patch, with rumors of at least a Part 5 to come. Unless they have decided to change things and give us each small patch like the Korean Servers get, it doesn't mean too much yet.

I understand that as a company you cant say we expect and think that about then we might be half ready to be able to give a shoot to try to run the bla bla bla.
But giving us some info on what you are progressing on and the problems that you might have (just in a brief not the whole situation) will help bith to lower the anxiety and some might be actualy able to give a few ideas.

the only reason everyone doesn't like it is because the korean players get full blown patch notes way in advance, scheduled updates with dates that are known way in advance, dev talks, pts's that actually matter, full on communication with NCsoft Korea, structure and planning of updates and a huge notice as to whats coming for the entire year. their website is updated regularly with all new content and future contents.
we are treated as if those updates dont exist and arent happening, getting 2nd hand translations of patch notes from fansites and the playerbase, get no update of a release date whatsoever, are given no word at all as to what updates we might see for the upcoming year, and we are kept in the dark for all future plans concerning this game. our website is still on what, C3?
the level of customer service we receive is about as opposite as you can possibly get when compared to the korean playebase.

i want hi5 asap but on the other hand u know they cant do that cause the game is full of exploiters/cheater/scammers so imagine if we test by our own what gona happen.
The same applies everywhere wasted.Aren't there any exploiters and cheater to Russian servers?
yes they are,but if im not sure only on korea they play-test-submit bugs which dev fix them.
here what we get is everything allready "fixed" by korean,so no point to test "update".the only purpose is to test skills/items/hunting grounds to be faster on what we doin when live server comes out
Absolutely embarrassing this community is yet again. Each and every update/merge (insert whatever virtual event) these threads pop up demanding to know WHEN! None of these are life changing events that must be scheduled on your real life calendars. No matter what date it happens you will log when you can and play as long as you possibly can.
Get a grip of yourselves and just wait for the official word from NCNA.
Really? To be honest, I've come back a couple months ago and it's a breathe of fresh air, the L2 community is by heaps and bounds far more mature than in the other games I've played, and the idiots are only a few :p Little things like that are of little importance imho :)
