But GoD will not have a new engine as long as i know. THey just rebuilded the 3d models i think.
you think wrong...there will be new client engine and it wont be definitely the same as current..afaik NCsoft just used the client which was planned to use for L3 (not the one from those who were fired by NCsoft) and with this "new coat for old grandma" they think they are to compete to games like TERA or SW:KOTR...or any new mmorpg..

It was confirmed by the GOD production team, it will use the same old unreal 2 core with updated models, probably just bringing everybody's polygon count up to Kamael standards
PS on the original topic, I hadn't thought of after effects tbh. There was a mod a year ago that changed soul/spirit shot glow and it produced an effect similar to that video, so I thought it was that.
Updated? Not really .. modified, maybe. To get an update beyond the multicore patch they would have to lincense 2.5 which would be complicated. But tbh the engine has been modded ever since Gracia came out, it's not as big a deal as people are making it to be. Visually the biggest change is the fact they are upgrading the models which, lets not kid ourselves, are older than dirt

Last bit of information i've managed to squeeze out of freya's and the previous patches engine was that is was a hybrid 2.5/2.x that ncsoft has licensed....
but even epic has provided behind the scenes updates to the orginal unreal 2 engine even if it's minor tweaks
