does anyone ever report for abusive language ? given there are different cultures n language differences , how do u determine whats offensive ?
i do use swear words, i hope im never abusive, but its a really fine line, in 5 yrs of play ive only hesitated on the report button twice and never used it even when i have felt offended , probably if im honest because i dont like to pull the girly card.
has anyone reported a player for this outside of the lol i can get him banned for that version ?

I guess it only matters if its in English? just wondering...more info would be awesome...if I say it in spanish is it only ok in game?
I report all the time for "bad words" but it is usually after I have baited them into it... and then say at the end "enjoy the ban" since that is 'how I roll'.
If you are stupid enough to side track the 'bad word' filter, then you are stupid enough to get banned - if they are saying it in a language other than English.. I translate for the /gm petition.

I only swear in-game when talking about NCSoft, but thats "how I roll"

2 of my friends were perma banned with 5/5 epics for language violations back in the day. but they were mass petitioned by the enemy.
1 person was banned for using the word that starts with "Re" has a "ta" in the middle and ends in "rd" in white chat. (non sensor bypassing too btw, as everyone removed the censor file). The other was banned for calling one of the leaders of exile alliance at the time a "cow" in hero chat because she posted her pic on blah.
however i have reported blatent RL personal attacks and threats..
One case happened a few years ago when one hero was shouting over hero shout to another enemy hero.... the attacks where about his dead mother.. and how much of a loser he was and how disappointed his dead mother was and what he was going to do with that dead mother.
When RL gets involved in a manner like this...... i report it..... simply because it's totally uncalled for.. and can be left on l2 blah/guru...
Even that persons own clan members in hero shout were quite amazed at the stupity of the comments and personal RL insults..
Aside from that.. swearing in general chat or shout.. clan/alliance whatever.... couldn't care....
this was 3 years ago, when gm's were even more dumb than they are now (if you can imagine that). this was also during the times when many rumors were going around about corrupt gm's helping players for adena and other sorts of nonsense.
Abusive language should be reported, and GMs will act on the account(s) accordingly. However, there are a lot of gray areas involved, so each instance is evaluated individually on a case-by-case basis.
A few examples of different kinds of situations:
1. Two players are harassing and provoking each other. Lineage II is a PvP game and it is understood that some degree of 'playful' provocation is permitted. But the harassment degenerates into racial slurs and anything considered sexually violent, the player or however many players that crosses that line will be hearing from us.
2. One player harasses another, but the other player isn't responding. Obviously the other player is not crossing any lines, so they're okay. Normally here a player is able to block whoever they want and be done with it, but if the harassing player finds ways to by pass that and continues harassing them, they'll be hearing from us.
The Rules of Conduct (http://www.lineage2.com/legal/rules.html) ask players to simply be nice to each other. Whether that's hard for some or not, some things should not be uttered or done regardless of the situation. The more obvious a person is for violating these rules, the less gray area there is.

I agree totally, personal attacks are unneeded in life, let alone in a game.
and as for swearing, it's a part of life, that i don't care either way in-game, *except* for when there are little ones about. and we have a couple of minors in our clan, and a lot of ladies, so warnings aplenty.

swear words dont bother me, nor does the trash talk. but i do agree that RL flames are a bit excessive. However, whenever someone RL flames, they typically look like the idiot in that discussion/flame
on chronos there are some greek heroes that spamming all the time curses to the dead people of the 11th september in towers....that's just shame:/
i bet these kids are no lifers and losers and i feel embarassed bein in same nation with them:/

I'm sorry,i wont believe it untill i see it because on the past i had an issue with someone that was flaming me for months on pms and public chat calling me names ,we were in same clan once and he saw that im not botting and i dont want to learn botting,he believed a pro player is a botter and exploiter and i was idiot to play legit,to show me his ''superiority'' he was hunting me all over the map using his ''radar type program'' and pk me,ofc,i couldnt know he is around since i didnt have any program to ''ring'' when his toon was near me.I mailed Ncswest with pics of his flames(which were not game related but personal insults) and i didnt got any help at all,the gm answred to me that since he doesnt speak on english he cant understand what he writes and L2 is just a game where you cant take serious what the other person says,they dont ban people for calling you a cow ..i think i still have those mails..
-on my pics anyone could read at least the words ''i am botting'',cause he did wrote to me that this toon was one more toon in his bot party,just a check from gm would be enough to find him botting 24/7,if he didnt want to use google translation.
-i cant accept that there 's no punishment system in L2 because its a game for 12 years kids that can say whatever because they are not affected by words like adults are.
-the violence against women in L2 its just incredible,there are men who behave you like you are garbage only because you are a girl.

The guys with this attitude pm you with insults from every account they have and with every new toon they can create,so no,/block isnt the solution.
We never had untill now gms that actually care to keep people playing and solve game's problems that's why we had chaos on na servers,if those gms were from the begining we would have 20 servers not 2.

kind of makes it all irrelevant when sace can quote that anything considered sexually violent isnt acceptable, but deletes non swearing examples asking whats ok n whats not, as irrelevant ....
guess that means i cant mention a toon whos fav phrase was along the lines of ill ** u in the **** if u do that again but meant no ill will by it, as opposed to ur mentally unsound probably 12 - 16 yr old that calls u bi ch 50 times then tells u to blow job me now bi ch, ima ** u ur mom and ur kids with my big **** bi ch etc etc.
I would hope my punishment for repeating such things will be more severe than hyperlites friends with a perma ban for saying re ta rd and cow ^^

I mostly agree /block is my friend :-) "realise its just a video game" probably applies more to the ppl that send the pms from multiple toons, perhaps :-S
i wasnt taking it that seriously just interested in others perspective, however ncs consistant ability to edit on forums > game tickles me ^^
Most language doesn't offend me at all, but I do have to say a long long while back I did report someone who was calling us the N word and /gave us a bucket of chicken. I just think that was a little much.
Before I /block, I usually just ask if their mother is proud of them. After all, it takes a real 'winner' to denigrate other players.
My personal "favorite" was before /block worked on all channels. We had a clan-leader come to one of the weekly events hosted by L2RPA and proceed to imply he was going to find one of our players (an underage girl) and **** her.
Sace here is my report for trash talking with pics that are covering both the reasons you provide us
- one player insults other player with no reason,there's no pvp/war/any action envolved,insults are racist.
-one player constantly trashtalking another player using multiple toons,the other player blocks him and the other guy continues......
and a third reason which to me is even more important
-one player trys to create a ''wave'' of insults to the other player to humiliate him by ''using'' some trashtalkers he finds in a clan or by making public insulting shouts.
The first respond i have is by GMPommo saying ''We will use the information provided to determine whether a violation of the rules has occurred''.
Ultimately, all the trash talk is to get you flustered. Guess what, you played right into their trap and gave them the win.
In real life,there are everywhere rules-laws that prevent/punish people with such behavor.In virtual world,those people have to get punished also,because the dmg they make is similar like it would be in real life.Players on L2 didnt agree somewhere that other players can insult them all day and night and this is part of the game.
