Chaotic Comic Contest

General Discussion Started Last reply 23 posts
Calling all artist and screenshot experts! In this contest you are asked to make a comic book using either your own original art, or screenshots from the game. All prizes are valuable in-game items, and there is also a pariticipation prize for all eligible accepted entries. The entry period begins today and ends on March 4, 2011. Read all the details here (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/02/chaotic_comic_c.html)! :D

If you submit an entry, know that you will receive a reply email telling you that your entry has been accepted, or if it isn't eligible it will explain why and what needs to be changed before it can be accepted. So if you don't receive a reply email after a couple of days, please PM me. :)
General question: can "real life" be involved in the comics? Say putting a Lineage 2 character in a real life setting? Or vice versa, a muggle transported into the world of Lineage 2? Or is supposed to be 100% roleplay?
The only instruction about the topic of the comic book is that it be "Lineage II themed." That is open to interpretation. I would say, though, that if your comic is mostly real life and only refers to or involves Lineage II for less than half of the story, that would not be considered a Lineage II comic book. But all of your ideas sound acceptable. :)
If I take screen shots and then paint over them (adding and deleting elements too), so that nothing of the underlying screen shot remains save for the structure, does this count as a "screen shot" comic (as it is, technically, "Use of a painting program for (...) altering"), or "original art" (as nothing of the original screen shot is visible?) What if I do this only to a few panels (say, using a screen shot of the castle in the background to get the proportions and details right)?

Original Art - Make your own drawings or digital art that does not incorporate screenshots.
Screenshots - Use only screenshots from the game for your comic art. Use of a painting program (such as Photoshop) for cropping, altering, and adding word bubbles and text is allowed.

Your example is making a gray area between these two categories. If the submitted image contains anything that is obviously from a screenshot, then it will be in the screenshot category. If there is no evidence that it incorporated a screenshot, then it will be in the original art category.
The contest entry period ends tonight at midnight, Pacific Time!

Also, one of the first prizes had to be changed because it will be used in an upcoming event. Instead of the Pegasus agathion, first place winners will receive the Baby Panda agathion, which is just as cute.
upcoming event you say .. ?
