After everything that has happened in the last year, and the events that happened in the past few days, I am wondering if anyone here would be willing to pick up another NCsoft product based on their experiences with Lineage 2/Aion/etc. I know the Korean Dev team would like to have a greater customer base accross the entire world, which is why I'm asking. There are a few NCsoft MMO's planned for launch near the end of this year and next year, and I am curious what our player's opinions are baout this.
This isn't meant to flame anyone, but I am more interested in the poll results. Feel free to leave a comment if you would like.
I personally would not play another game from them. I would be more inclined to go to Blizzard or another game company due to in game support and customer service, as well as full on support for the products they develope.
GW2 is made by Anet.......Ncsoft just publishes it.
To answer the OP question. I dunno, I have no problems with ncsoft games its just the support I have a problem with. They feel like robots most of the time and in some cases completely unwilling to work with you. And sometimes require you to aqquire insane information just to work with you. Like what were you wearing at the time you created your Lineage 2 account? What is the last 4 digits of the credit card you used 6 years ago?
We need all 22 game cd keys from your ncsoft account to proceed.
Things like that drive me insane. I only wish they developed better consumer support and a better way to identify their consumers.
Not likely. I've been playing the game for almost 7 years now (May 2004). It's had it's ups and downs. Many things are finally getting fixed, like bots, etc.
However - still lot of problems. The increased leveling is great, and much needed - since the vast majority of the really good new content is only accessible at Level 82+ (I'm not there yet).
Worst thing is geting good gear. It takes forever, and is very frustrating. I have friends who tried to get like 100-200m adean from a service and had their gear taken by NCSoft and/or banned. Yet there's hundreds (probably thousands of players in the past), who buy tens of billions of adena (probably from same place?), and don't get penalized at all by NCSoft. They have mutliple accounts, buying adena left and right, and nothing happens to them. Just look around - I can easily counts hundreds of players in a matter of minutes who must have bought biliions of adean for their gear, and they're playing like it's nothing.
NCSoft is extremely inconsistent in this - taking gear for people trying to catch up a little, and not penalizing hundreds of players spending thousands and thousands on adena for mutliple accounts. For someone who has always had just one account, and never use any type of third party program or other cheat - it's frustrating. I'll keep plugging along - but not gonna play much. And serveral players I know just stopped - since there's clearly a "have and have not" quality to the game.
I just amazes me the descrepency in what gear most have, how they must have got it, and the rest of us that are never going to get there. Whatever works for NCSoft - I guess it's all about profit, and letting some get away with gross violotions while apparently punishing those coming back trying to catch up a little. So much is aimed at the high-end game (82+), it seems like the rest of us are being encouraged to just hang it up. Ah well, it's still a fun game - but in some ways, even more frustrating that ever. I'm just getting used to playing a little here and there, but never taking the game seriously again - or anything else from NCSoft.

If you truly want the other's opinion, you shouldn't have such a statement on your thread, becaus it could affect the decision. Perhaps post it as a reply to your thread.
By the way, I am going to play blade and soul no matter what, once released.. lol

We have to register our social security number on the account to play. That eliminates most of the problems you guys have.
Your identity is verified by the credit bereau, somthing similar to transUnion. When you register the SSN, you have to be verified by the bureau to make sure that you are not using someone else's SSN.
Since you guys don't register the ssn, (probably due to different laws and regulations, or just from the pure laziness of the NCSoft), they have to verify you with many additional informations I guess.
yea lineage3 if that ever comes out for sure. One get used to there way of handeling things and just stop to care, and laughs at what they are doing and wondering what is going on inside there heads ><

That is the most frustrating thing.
IMO they are doing good, banning botters, (dunno if they are bannig 3rd party software´s users also) and the new security update is very good, but they also began too late doing, something that should be made at the begining.
I will continue playing this game cuz I like it so much, but it will be the last
1. Hyper, have you seen the blade & soul demo? it looks out of this world good. Even better than Tera.
2. GW2??? hehe, probably only Amerians like that ****. lol, I am an american.
3. Aion is absolutely a joke. But fine, you win some and you lose some, no biggie.
4. What exactly did NC do to you to piss you that much Hyper? I thought you are the most hard core L2 play in the history of L2. Yeah, I understand, Aden now should now be renamed to the "socialist's republic of Adena", but you live with it... It hurts my adena wallet, but benefits my grinding. All mmorpg out there will follow the same path no matter where you go. wow is an extreme example, all players can hit max lvl before an update if they are willing to try. So i guess try to excel in RL, L2 is really just for fun.
5. hehe, somehow, I can foresee on the day 1 of L3 release, Hyper will be the first guy to line up in front of game stop ;)
6. we all whine, complain, leave, then come back. it is the cycle of life.
Yes and No. Yes cause I don't have any issues with what NCSoft has done with the Lineage 2 product. No cause I don't feel the need to play any other games, I have tried them each time some new game comes out. Each time I was disappointed and I return to L2 just like most of you,
Nothing runs perfect and most of the people that take the time to complain represent only 5% of the population and are prone to complain anyway. Everyone can come up with something they donât like about a MMO, but I havenât experienced a major issue worth blacklisting NCSoft. It has been a rollercoaster ride over the last few years but this is still the best game around.
Keep in mind that there isnât a single forum out there that preaches the greatness of a company or the support staff. Sadly, it is in our nature to gather together and complain.

Also, you and Hyper really need to getogether and chat. I think you two are complaining due to polar opposite reasons. So funny. Of course, I can be completely wrong. Hyper thinks this game is too easy now, and all his efforts gone wasted, and you are still complaining cannot get good gears cuz it is hard. I definitely agree with Hyer more, but just not that extreme.

Your buddy was simply
1. bad (for violating user agreement)
2. sucked at the game (do not know how to get good gears)
3. and unlucky.
he really got no one to blame but himself.
Getting good gears is so easy, bosses are puking them like thanksgiven leftovers. I never understood why people buy noble stone, cuz vopal set is probably cheaper than the noble vesper by now. If my pets have fingers, I will put boss jews on them. Ok, the last sentence is not true. Mainly because prices are dropping so fast, only idiots still have multiple identical boss jews.
Also, you and Hyper really need to get together and talk it over. Because you two are complaining due to polar opposite reasons. Hyper thinks this game has gone too easy and all of his efforts have gone wasted (i may be completely wrong on his view). Yet you still could not figure out how to get gears. I am definitely aligned with Hyper, but just not that extreme.
as for Eq, our ally used to do 7-10 RB's every friday night and a few others during the week as was possible. out of all that we never even had enough full gear drops to outfit 2 members don't even think of a full clan
I've played a lot of MMOs and I come back to lineage (usually lineage 1, sometimes lineage 2) everytime for a few reasons, the primary reason though is despite their horrid support they simply put out the best games. The other primary factor is although updates come out and the top lvl/tier increases, the effort you've put into your char is never completely wiped out... that's primary reason I left wow, new update when I still had goals to achieve, that made everything pre-update completely useless, while most of my stuff now is worth less than half what I bought it for, its still useful and relevant.... that's why ppl come back to this game (same can be said for lineage 1)... GOD worry me significantly for this, among other, reasons
As for playing new releases, I did aion for a little over 6 months when it was released, didn't much care for it though.... early aion was the most fun I've had in a mmo, rifting with friends, as the game developed it turned into just a boring factioned zerg-pvp game... I think most of the old visionary producers and programmers were replaced by wow emulators out of college, and the result is rather bland cookie cutter games, I'm hoping they get back to basics of what made them successful (grinding, non factional, open world, open pvp, non instanced games)
so in short, yeah ofc I'd try another nc game, my expectations of a quality game coming out of them is pretty low currently though, considering they're trying to convert even their most successful title overall (this one, yes lin and lin2 are still 2 of the top 3 nc soft games globally) to their new game production style which has been proven... mediocre.
i think i would play another NC game depends on if i like the game. not if its from NC or anyone else... for me is important that the game is great and that i get support when i need it (i didnt had any problems with the NC support so far, but i heared a lot)
I enjoy NCsoft games, never had an issue with support that wasn't resolved in a timely manner, and the added security to my master account is welcomed. I think Blade & Soul looks fun so I'll definitely check it out. I'm a huge fan of Guild Wars which I still play, so buying GW2 is a must

Buying adena is what makes this game bad also 3rd program pvp users.

i think different matter:
boting until they cut procider(got gear money hight lvls)
farming to have more(becouse U have top lvl, gear, back to first)
using pvp programs to have fun smashing opponents(back to top)
selling adena for real money(becouse they let U get all from the top)
filling bots producers pockets with hudge amount of dollars
thats all truth about L2

Agree, and well put.
If anyone thinks that players are getting to top levels without doing this (meaning 82+, with many players having multiple characters at 84 or higher - - just look at the posts and in game), with top, top, (often insanely) top gear, it's almost pathetic. NCSoft counts on these players, a) being young and stupid with lots of excess time on their hands and access to their parents credit cards, b) older and even more pathic - failing miserably at school or life, using their time and money on a game, or c) 25+ year old (or much older) live-at-home or pathetic appartment, making 40k a year or less (computer programmer?) and wasting all their time on the game, spending totally unreasonable amounts of time/money buying bots/characters/gear. This might be bit extreme (but far less extreme than most of you realize - especially those starting the game). Many might deny this - that's fine - that's your oppinion. But I'd sure like to sell you some prime real estate in south Florida. You've already bought into the same deal with NCSoft - you're just too niave to know it. And NCSoft and their "partners" are profiting a great deal from this - whether you realize it or not.
NCSoft is making a token attempt at fixing this, but just look around. Are people really that stupid? NCSoft is sure counting on it.

its not true that everyone is over 82+ as described above. this is a 7 year old game. 7 years dude. please keep this biased, incorrect view that basically insults every single player left in this game out of this thread as it will send this into a flame war with you on the loosing side, looking like a fool, and the thread locked.

I respect your oppinion Hyperlite. And I don't play a lot - probably about 10 hours a week on average, although I'm gone a lot for work (months, sometimes years at a time). I'm fairly busy at work, also now working on a second master's degree, and do well at my profession. L2 is not my life, or a high priority in my life. However, I've played the game more weeks than not in the last 7 years and, at one time, was very active in several of the more prominent clans. So I know a little about the game.
It doesn't bother me much or not if the thread gets locked - I'm more interested in people knowing what they're getting into, and not be duped into thinking they can get the high-level gear and equipment to do well in the game - and any hope of being an expert at PvP nowadays - without buying a bunch gear, and using a lot programs to succeed at getting massive levels and being top in PvP. Not interested in starting a flame thread either. It is interesting how defensive some will get over this. I'd like to see everyone banned who ever used a third party program or anything like that. How many people do you honestly think would be left at 84 and over and/or have top gear and/or win consistently at the highest level of PvP? Not many would be my guess. We'll never find out, because NCSoft wants to keep those players around at all cost - they're the ones that are willing to invest a significant amount of their time and a significant amount of thier pocket book (at least what would seem reasonable to an average person) into the game. Have fun with this one - it's not meant as a flame, just information to an average player on what's really going on here.

lmao. Max5000, didn't I tell you that you and Mr. Hyper needs to sit down and have a one on one conversation?! With all the events and vit, it is hard to find a person with a main under 80 now. Getting gears and adena is so easy, Mr. Hyper now wants to quit cuz he got nothing to shoot for.
Yeah, a few players who botted in the past and did not get caught. But you live with it. Like RL, nothing is perfect. The level advantage people earned from botting will soon gone due to the limit cap. They probably will never be able th resell those 100 anthras earrings since there is no adena in the L2 economy to acquire them. About pvp and siege bots, it is a serious issue, and I am sure NC is working on it.
About RL, as I said, try to excel in RL, and L2 is just for fun. US averge per capita income is about 43k. So a $40k salaried computer programmer ain't doing so bad. It is just disrespectful to criticise other people just because everyone is doing better than you in game. I think Alania the Red Queen makes half mil a year but still runs 7 dorf shops in grain. Persnally, I may not be doing as well as Alania in RL, but not that far behind. And in my old clan, I know many of them spending half day pvping, and half day golfing.... so I am sure they all do better than me in RL too cuz i still have to work (no, I know old clannies are not retirees, lol)
Well, I changes the "No" option.
But I haven't any problem with the NCsoft, I think they are still much more better than much another MMO company.
The reason is the next:
1. I will play Lineage 2 still I can play it (I hope I can play with it still under really long time) and ofc until I will enjoy it, but I think I will enjoy, the Goddess of Destruction will be a big question if they won't change on their currently plans, but if they will keep the features what I love in the Lineage 2 (36 classes, Oly, free pvp, pk) I'm sure that I will enjoy it all time.
2. I want focus to my real life too. The Lineage 2 is enough for me.
3. No one from the new MMOs will be interesting all of them just a weak copy of Lineage 2 or World of Warcraft.
If we talk about NCsoft games I think the Guild Wars 2 won't take nothing new feature what is really a new thing classical fantasy ground with classical classes NCsoft and ArenaNet only made GW2 because the GW hasn't monthly payment system and don't take so good money.
The Blade & Soul looks like a bit more intresting and it won't be in the classical MMO world, but I think still it hasn't any really good feature, when I saw the first gameplay video about it, I knew this game can be successful only in Korea.
//destructor
anyway I don't understand you Korean peoples what do you like in B&S so much it is just an AION copy with some Mortal Kombat skills:)
Blade & Soul looks good, but if NCSoft West continues to run things the way they are now then I doubt I will ever play a NCSoft game again once my current subscription expires (I hope I get access to the master account before I get charged again).
When will NCSoft start to care about their customers?
When will NCSoft start to spend the money we pay them every month on useful things that helps us the customers (update the site, advertising, better servers etc etc) instead of putting it in their pockets or spend it all on coffee?
When will NCSoft start to hire people that has actually graduated from the kindergarten?
Anyways have fun living in your own little fantasy NCSoft.
Those who say people who are 82+ are ebayers if they have epics and good gear are wrong.
I can say im near the end game content now since im almost 83 and I know have 3/5 epics on my toon. I been playing for 7 years and took a long time for me to outfit my toons and had to work on it. I am not a power gamer I have real life etc. The problem with people in NA/Europe is the instant gratification factor.
The top people are realizing how stupid they are now for buying all that adena and stuff now its a lot easier to get any everyone else is getting it now.
I do believe there things NCsoft can learn from their mishandling of L2 in future products and that need to taylor some stuff towards NA/Euro because we play differently then some of the asian countries.
Well, if we follow the news can know, that NCsoft games GW 2 B&S and the Lineage 2 Goddess of Destruction will release at end of this year or first part of next year.
So if the NCsoft at the western regions can solve to this time their service problems and learn from their mistakes and solve them. In (or from) 2012 they can be again the most successful MMO Company at worldwide.
Example I was happy when I read, that one of the main developer from the Lineage II Team traveled to here and asked the NCwest, that what we western player like or dislike what is our play style.
I think this step was a little step, but it can be a first step of a long and important way. If the Goddess of Destruction will be able to release in a westernized form and will get higher promotion sure, that it will can take many players and many money for them.
No game has kept me interested for this long. Regardless of the problems it has, it's still fun to me and I'd do it all over again.
People saying "no" but still having an actvie game account and playing is just laughable.
i enjoy L2 as it is now, but the support side of things sucks.
once GoD comes out, I will probably move on to something non NCsoft related. so its not "laughable" for me to enjoy a game ive played for 7 years, but I am used to dealing with the pvp rpograms, lack of gm support in game, and everything else. but L2 has shown me what to expect from a game company, and NCsoft does not provide it in the form of support (not game quality) which is why i will go elsewhere when the time comes.
Close this thread forever!! All go play with lineage 2!!
Can you pass me what you are smoking please so that I can see it to.
NCSoft is miles behind when it comes to:
Customer support
Giving information to the players
Answer player concerns
Have an updated site
Forum activity from NCSoft staff other than the community manager
You want to see what I would expect from a company as big as NCSoft?
Click here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/index.php) then go to the "Dev Tracker" and see how active NCSoft should had been on the forums and how open towards they should had been.
NCSoft needs to fire their web-team since they are clearly taking the money we pay for our subscription and spend them at the nearest bar/pub while they should had been working on the site.
No one is perfect and like what others have said before, with their main Dev coming over to see what they can do to understand Western players, it is already a step forward.
And hell, i love and agreed with the new update on security. Another step to what it should have been done long ago.
i know too well the way nc soft west take care of this game and his customer. And i don't understand korean to eventually try to play on the originals :)
L2 seems to be the only game that has absolute no "fanbois" ^^ ... dunno if i should be gratefull to NC-NA for that.
it has no fanbois because we are all addicted to the great game that used to be Lineage 2. fanbois are typically a fanboi to a company, not a game, and NCsoft and NCwest specifically gives us no reason to adore them, when they stood by and let their game be destroyed. not to mention the amzing customer support.;-)
MAX500Not likely.
Just look around - I can easily counts hundreds of players in a matter of minutes who must have bought biliions of adean for their gear, and they're playing like it's nothing.

the problem is you can level faster than you can get adena to afford the higher level equipment......but i have enjoyed thye game for several years i find it a great escape .......:)
@shasae (http://boards.lineage2.com/member.php?u=155007) There is no problem at all...if you know how to trade. I had a fresh start. My char is on 61 lvl...and I already can by myself Dynasty EQ.
