The data of characters that were deleted during the server merge has been kept in our archives all this time, but it will soon be time to purge that data. As such, we are announcing that March 18, 2011 is the deadline for any remaining character restoration requests. If you have a character that was deleted in the server merge and you want it restored, read the full details and instructions in the Latest News (http://www.lineage2.com/news/news.html#a017550).
On March 10, a short newsletter will go out to both active and inactive accounts about this as well, mainly so that any players that haven't been around since before the merge will be notified before the character restoration deadline occurs.
For request a list of deleted characters i have to make a ticket ? :confused:
Yes, make a ticket following the same instructions as listed for requesting a restoration. But in the Question box, simple say "I'd like a list of the characters that the server merge deleted. The game account I'm asking about is ______."

Is your staff ready for the ticket flow for people that haven't played for a while that are unable to remember security questions?

There very well may be "customers" who have not? Heard of them lately...black and yellow!!! Black and Yellow!!!
For all INACTIVE accounts since before the merge and during.. wouldn't it be wise for the company to make a backup copy that can be stored away for an undisclosed period of time?
How many people haven't played the game... either on duty or having real life situations that prevent them from even realizing that they could potentially have characters or such missing or messed up due to the merge or whatever else might have happened.
I just think it's best to "cover" the problem.. as i'm sure that database isn't going to fill even a 8gb USB Flash Drive... maybe it will... maybe it won't... i know you can get 64gb flash drives.. or even just invest in a standard 2tb Hardrive and stick it in anti-shock foam insulated and water proof container.....
I'm sure you guys are doing that on frequent server wide backups already in some form or another... likely through the internet to another database or something.
either way... i would suggest not purging it completely.... just remove it from where it's sitting and bit it on a locally stored backup drive somewhere.
Obviously if you can purge the system.. you can select the "purged" data and back it up somewhere
what characters were deleted? didnt know anyone with such a problem :confused:
Some of us had multiple characters on every server so when the servers merged into one, some characters were deleted since you can only have a max of seven chars. (I had at least 5 chars per server).
I think this would mainly apply to those who reactivated accounts after the server merges and didn't have the chance to determine which characters they would want to keep.
Those of us that were active prior to the merges might have had characters we thought would get merged and instead got deleted. I had one like this, but it wasn't a big deal that it got deleted.
If you had 7 at teon and 7 at Franz or Luna, some of them would've been deleted if you didn't take care about it before the merge. In this case you could've petitioned them and ask to restore one of your chars that wasn't meant to be deleted because it had full epic set and billions of adena for example, and they would've assisted you with it.
Anyway, Sace, does it mean that this effectively ends petitions about manor seeds/crops being deleted with merge too? So, your team is worse than GM team in 2008 year? The later restored similar deleted crops/seeds within 1 month after server merge back then. You needed months to restore badges and you preferred to forget about manor at all?
ok i have 2 accounts that were inactive before the merge. I have Activated 1 of the 2 and if i can get them restored i will activate the other one. I still do not understand how i can restore my deleted characters. i loged into my master nc account please can someone explain this better to me as i havent played in a long time.

We do not have a list of these characters. The character information for these characters have been archived and are not readily accessible.
For us to recover a character that did not make the server merge, we will need you to provide us with the name of the character and which server the character used to be on before the merge.

but what if people like me can not remember their character name... but can remember the server the characters were in? i would really like to get my characters back.
but thats stupid... they should be able to help you find a few characters that were on your account i didnt even have more then 7 characters and i was only on 1 server the whole time... >.<

i had a year break between that merge
and 14 toons on the us server how the hell do i remember the toon names
also i think some had simliar names i'm not sure anymore. also gj support!
i made the ticket for my account on the day i saw the announcement.
i still didnt got the reply you couldnt retrieve it till i read this topic!

I wouldn't. If they really don't have the list, and HGMWill was just trying to explain the real situation to us, what can they do? They can't just make up character names and levels!
I had a chance to go over some of the requests from the weekend and due to the overwhelming requests we have received from players requesting a list of the characters that did not make the merge, our Operations Team is going to work to make the the information available to us so we can provide you guys with what you need.
Keep in mind that the deadline for letting us know you would like to recover a character will not change. However we will work with everyone to make sure that those wanting to recover a character is taken care of before all the data is purged.
Everything that involves an IP address, has to be kept for 5 years.
Each and every toon line in the SQL database, has the last used IP address on that toon, making it illegal to remove that line from the SQL database... and therefore from the backups.
