I always thought the elven and dwarven villages were some of the prettiest areas in the game, but it looks like they suffer the most. This whole update is too depressing :(

I agree with you.. I always loved the dorf village.
thats because u all live in the past back when u created that first dorf, orc, delf etc of urs, magical times with hopes and desires...for me the new scenerys and the new plot, resemble exactly the way I feel about l2. At first it was uuhh ahh and then slowly everything changed to a degenerating old habit. Hell, if NcSoft havent implement that changes I would probably used a black marker and painted that holocaust on my screen anyway.
I don't think the Elves actually come from the tree. It's a spiritual concept.
fallen down like rotten apples ? :D I think that mother tree is for elves some very very old artifact and since light elves are so coexistent with nature it just right, is it not ? :)
they removed the center flame, and the statue.
but didn't add any crumbled elements...
or, maybe orc town just has a lot of gifted ranch hands to remove all the rubble?

Funny thing is I once managed to go down under that arm reaching up in Dark Elf Village in C4 I think. I always wondered if there is a whole statue down there and it was. Now it's half way up in GOD :P
Looks like the current devs cannot make stuff as beautiful as the original ones did, so they are breaking whatever we already have in the game so that the new areas would't seem so ugly in comparison :rolleyes:

No, the Mother Tree is still alive. It's where all newly created elves spawn at.
Didn't you read that lore you just linked? It doesn't say it's dead, it says it is dying, read: Not dead yet.
Shilen, the Daughter of Einhasad and Gran Kain created the elves. All elves once lived together in the forest on the World/Mother tree. We all fought the Orcs alongside the humans and used so much magic we ruined the World/Mother tree. We destroyed our home by abusing magic in that war, our homeland is now so contaminated it had to be contained by magic to prevent the spread of the adulteration of our world. Our devastated lands had to be encapsulated by the combined magic of the wizards of Ivory Tower. These days we know this place as the Sea of Spores.
The Elf race soon divided into two factions over the disagreement on the use of dark magic to regain our supremacy overall and the Light Elves became weak and began worshiping a false idol, they became tree worshipers. The great Brown Elves continued to adore and follow our true Mother, Shilen.
Meanwhile, the Light Elves took a sapling from the dying original World/Mother tree and moved south to start a new tree and city. Those of us that would be called the Dark Elves created a great temple for Shilen to the west. When you walk in the Sea of Spores you are walking amongst the old roots of the original World/Mother tree.

This is also why many of them side with Gran Kain later on in the original Lineage game.

My soul has always belonged to the Goddess Shilen… she may do with it as she pleases.

Me is like the new area , i guess ppl has differant view point on this, but for me i like it
I don't get it. Why destroy a game world people have come to like just the way it is?
I played WoW throughout their previous two expansions and I hate what Cataclysm did to their game world. But Wow seems to have a constant turnover and influx of new of players anyways.
I came to L2 to find something different from WoW and now they are doing the same here :(
I really like the dwarven village, the light elf village, just the way they are. Of course being a newbie with little play time I haven't experienced the higher level zones but the pictures here and the new trailer - which looks like Rift and WoW came together and had a baby -, all that makes me doubt that I will stay after this goes life. But then again, I've not been here that long in the first place.
Why do you guys come here and cry about the changes? You can't stop the update. They are going to change the Geomaps, graphics, classes, skills and game play no matter what tears are shed in these forums. This has been in the works for many months.
Get a hug and then move on, life is full of changes. Most changes you can't do anything about. The one thing you can change is your desire to cry about EVERYTHING!

When the beauty and complexity of the original L2 is no longer a factor, we have plenty of games to choose from.
