This small forum announcement was made as a heads-up to you hardcore players that play on a regular basis. As the big announcement goes out to everyone else later this month, you folks are being given an advantage by knowing about it early.
The gift is the same item for everyone that qualifies. There will not be anything "random" about it.
The gift is not one-per-account. It is one-per-level-80-character! :) The game account can be active or inactive-- no worries about that.
The XP-help we will give you later this month and before the deadline will be help, not a guarantee that your character will be level 80 by April 25. We will post more information about the XP-help in the week of April 18-22.
To qualify for the gift, you main class or your subclass needs to be level 80. :) So as long as one of your classes is level 80, no worries if it's the main class or a sub. Also, it is okay for you to be playing on a lower-than-80 sub on April 25.
The check for who-is-level-80 will occur at 12pm PDT (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Level+80+Gift+Deadline&iso=20110425T12&p1=234) on April 25, 2011. Click the link for more timezones of this deadline.
Preparing for this deadline is your decision, it is entirely optional. You will be informed as to what the gift is sometime in the week of April 18-22.
Don't worry if you think you won't get this gift, there will be lots of other gifts and activities for everyone later this month.
We are encouraging players to reach level 80 (by giving incentive) because future game updates will mostly be content for high levels. The encouragement does not mean that future updates won't include anything for lower levels.

On April 25, we will be checking the level of each character's main class, not subs. You can decide how to prepare for that date.

Well darn I just started the game yesterday so I don't think I will be even close to qualifying for this gift :p. I am still interested to see what it could be!

You are not very active if you don't have level 80 after the 4 years you have been playing. I have two boxes over 80 and 18 other characters all A-Grade in that same time. You are not focused on the right goals and need to re-evaluate and use the next few weeks to break through that casual player barrier!

you've got quite the balls to tell someone they aren't playing the game for the right reasons by saying that....
Your play style has no place in suggesting anyone else is clearly doing it wrong...
If someone enjoys playing the game in the manner they are..... where lvls do not count.. which in their way... obviously doesn't... then so be it... so long as they are enjoying whatever they are doing.

- somekind of "help" with reaching the 80 lv cap

I believe Moxie meant 'players that play regularly' as opposed to those that don't play very often and won't find out about this level 80 gift until we make our full-detail announcements later this month. You 'regular players' have the advantage of getting a heads up.
The level 80 gift is just for level 80 players, but there will be lots of other gifts for everyone. Stay tuned! :)

now im playing for more than 5 years, but i dont have very much time to play. my main is lvl 73 with a lvl 72 buffer behind her :)
so, if there is a realistic chance to hit lvl80 till 25th, then i will play this chars from now on every time i can :)
but i only have maybe 5-6 hours a week ^^

I'm all for that too! Many of us having playing for a long time - but never get much of a reward for that (one reason why there aren't very many veterans around - Prelude for me).
The idea that, if we've been playing for a long time, we should all be uber high level with uber super gear is funny. Some people have a life, and wan't to accomplish more than have multiple high-level characters on multiple accounts, with multiple billions in gear. Almost like ppl are trying to compensate for something. Personally, I'd rather succeed in accomplishing things outside the game, and use the game just for fun - if it becomes a priority I think you have some bigger problems than worrying about others spending such resources on a virtual world. Whatever works for ya tho. No doubt the game can be addicting.

One day after my beloved Dominator, who is currently 79 and 85% (a 6 year old toon) goes inactive again (after two years away from the game) and I switch to my Spectral Dancer (to be finaly able to play with people instead of running 5 boxes because noone ever wants a dominator) I see this.
Sace say that those who have not yet lvl 80, will be helped to reach as soon cesta. how you'll do so April 25 is almost? My opinion is that this date was chosen wrong

Actually i beleive there is considerably more accessible content at lower lvls BELOW 80 then there is above 80.... however it's mostly different content...
So the "FACT" may not be so accurate depending on the stipulations for what you classify as being content...
From a full overall game perspective..... your likely 100% inaccurate... meaning your facts are infactual.
i play how i want to play and i pay my 15$/month (in my case 70$ lol) just like everybody else. Its irrelevant whether im of use to u lolol its only relevant if NCSOFT dosnt want my subscribtion money ne more lol

Looking for Confirmation that all Level 80 Toons will automatically be changed to Level 85.
There is speculation about this as GoD approaches; I cannot imagine a Gift that would be worthwhile otherwise unless it be F2P L2. Guess we wait to see...

You'll have to wait until more information about GD is released publicly. For now, we are encouraging players to level up because it's looking like a lot of GD content is for high levels-- but that doesn't mean that GD is *only* for high levels. Level 80 is not going to be the new level 1.

Why would developers spend time on content for a small population of players that is ever decreasing? You are playing the game the way you want to play the game (which is fine) but not to how the developers have envisioned the game to be played (e.g., all players would strive to continuously level).
i agree so id rather they cut there losses so i can move on to another game than waste my time and money.... hence why i asked the question :)

As has been noted... this is just a game. How you play and how you approach the content is entirely individual. There is no right or wrong way to play. I bring up a perfect example... Splatter. Now there was a guy who knew exactly how he wanted to play his orc. The rest of ya be ****ed... he liked being in the newbie areas, he liked leveling slowly . He spent his time exploring and learning about the environment and building a backstory for himself (you know, the RP part of it all). Did he play wrong... no he didn't. Its all about perspective.
Now I've been playing since July 2004. I have a soon to be 78 pally and a 65 SH sub (along with a smattering of lvl 40-71 alts). I've taken my time and enjoyed the ride. I feel no compultion or "need" to drive myself to higher levels as quickly as I can get them. Its all about perspective and what gives you enjoyment playing the game.

Well there are some people like stupidity at which I wouldn't like to point fingers who are coming to event discussion and QQing all over that they are being left behind while they have no right what so ever to do so.
First of all this game is all about progression: level progression, gear progression, etc. If you choose to ignore that it's fine by me I can't care less but just please stop QQ all over the boards that it's unfair that NCsoft encouraging progression because you choose not to progress.
It's not event for you so just leave. It's event for player who are interested in progression, you don't meet criteria so why you crying?
If you wanna know more about GOD: the progression 40-85 will be significantly improved, many areas will be redesigned so players could progress those levels as fast as possible. This was stated in couple interviews already. So yes, don't waste your money. Leave now.

It also makes sense, the <85 content will become completely useless so there's no reason to keep players locked there for long periods of time.

I'm sorry but getting 80+ these days is piece of cake. Even if you play an hour a day on average you should be making something like 5-10% during that hour @ level 78.
The reason NCsoft cares about 80+ players is that majority of those players are already 80+. I literally can't imagine where you should exp not be be 80 by this time. Or if you play 3 hours a week than it's completely different case. You simply don't have enough time to achieve your goals.
On the other side of things you may also want to try and find more active clan because this game is and always be about party play. It always was 2-3 times faster to exp in full groups compared to solo exping.

I'm not sure if there was a recent (2010) newsletter that had updated stats. The newsletter archive on Lineage II's main site lists March 2009 as the most recent newsletter, and I haven't been receiving any newsletters even though I checked the box to receive them.

Same here i like the lower zones and often wish they would become higher ones because i miss them so much.
I also have alts in zones 50 -60 -70 for whnever i feel nostalgic.
The repetitiveness ? Not really i do level each of them verry diffirently, trying another approach each time. Finding i could do this or that faster or better even finding new tactics for my mains.
And yes its unstressing, the grind is like the only thing that unstresses me at all from RL issues or sometimes ingame drama.
My favorite spot has to be frozen labyrinth and enchanted valley, enjoying EV as much as i can now, since its gonna get changed in GOD.
Looking forward to roam there again on high levels then, but doubt EV be the shout zone it once used to be, kinda hot shouts there lol.
On a numbers tangent, is there any way we can find out how many actual hours we have had online on our toons? lol

lol I am gonna work my spoiler's rear off trying for 80 (hoping for double xp week!) but I seriously hope it's not those cloaks unless they have some special skills or something >< 80 cloak quest, zaken cloak quest, I mean how many cloaks do we need? :o

If the aim is for lvl 78-79 toons to get to level 80 u have only ONE option and that 's the famous X10 XP weekends, and preferably to start those at friday afternoon and end on monday to cover the full population.
What ever the 80+ gift is they should give the <80 players 3 non trade able vitality herbs for every level they are below 80. This might even make up for all the times we have had to re roll. LOL.
I'm not suggesting this cause my toons are below 80 either. 3 are but 4 aren't. 2 of the 3 that aren't, are within 2 levels of 80. The 3rd is a crafter and will never get leveled.
I just don't think there has been enough done for the casual player. The person who gets maybe an hour to play a day if they are lucky.
I have 3 full accounts and only 3 chars 80+... Should I start crying for vita pops for all my chars? :D

When I first returned to L2, I didn't remember much. The first toon I met in this game when I came back after 4 years gone was a level 5 ... who had played for years. She would level the char to 30 and DELETE IT. Over and over again. She followed me around, explaining how to pm people, how to set up my hotbar again, how to attack, how to MOVE. I was a total spatz day 1, and her being there is what made me decide to reactivate my old account.
I am still grateful to her, and have repeatedly tried to buy her gear, send her adena... all of which was returned. She didn't WANT to get ahead in the game, because she only had 1 arm. This 'world' was a place she could feel normal, and knowing she couldn't play fast, she wanted to stay in the range of the newbie protection spell and out of reach of the pvp.
I believe she loves this game more than those who want to simply beat it and move on. I wonder how many people play this game for reasons other than to 'win'... and I'd wager quite a few. Sometimes the little things are what keep people playing, and I hope that long time loyal players get a 'gift' too. Maybe they'd be ok without one, but they'd probably appreciate it more.
If you are 83, in 900 hours you can without too big problem do 3600%, and yes that is 36 levels.
Yeah. 2-3% a day on lv84 with only a bit of vit2+1hr nevit 50% is really doable in Dragon Valley. I don't even focus on leveling to 85 and it's goes so fast.

Totally agree. I have talked with a lot of ppl over my 5 yrs of L2 which play the game cos of some RL reasons.
I think long time loyal players should get rewarded also, not only the fast lvling ppl that have seen like 10% of the whole L2 world.
and vit take like 5 days till its full -- to get ***** in 1 hour ;)

Cant figure out if you are trolling, it's like you are a little kid in a toy shop not wanting to share. I can give you multiple very valid reasons why the reward should be given to everyone. However , ncsoft has said 80 , and that's probably with a reason. They might be planning on giving something that is only usable by 80+ people.
Then i think that they should also give something to the people that havent played untill that level. It's a sandbox game , the goals in this game are the ones you make. If i decide to roleplay a lot , you know , in a mmoRPG, then my levels probably wont increase a lot.
People like you play this game like counterstrike, rush to the highest level , and then pwn some newbs, missing about 90% of the original game content. When i start , we didnt whine about levels , or gear , you often saw lvl 20's and lvl 40's in the same group , because we liked playing in groups with friends, not cause it was the optimal thing needed to get the maximum of xp.
As for your comment about "no kid left behind" , seriously , have you been playing lineage 2 for long? they always did that , revita pots , chronicle weapons , ... , even the "gift" we got a couple of weeks ago was for everyone. How long have you been playing?

I wonder what you'd have to say if NCSoft had announced a gift ONLY for those level 85 with 3 level 80 subs. My clan is primarily those levels, and there are plenty of other people on our server, including most members of several other large clans, who are also there.
Since Goddess is ONLY for people who are ready to 'evolve', that's them, and clearly not you by your signature. By your own logic, you deserve no entitlement either, right? Because giving 'gifts' to people for a high level zone coming out should be for those who can start playing those high levels zones only, again, according to your logic?
Those players already to Goddess levels have a level of commitment you don't share, they deserve a medal you are also going to get arbitrarily. What makes you special enough to say that about others who also aren't at the arbitrary level? Given how many players are way ahead of you in levels, you're a casual player too, the 'no kid left behind' you mentioned. Why the insults?
As for medals and being special in the game, it's already in game. It's called the Olympiad. If you are dedicated and so worthy, you get to be a Hero, get a fancy hero weapon, special hero buffs, and you glow in the dark. If your clan is special, and you are so worthy, your clan owns a castle. There are plenty of things built into the game to designate how special you are, how hard you work.
However, L2 is not counterstrike, it's a real time MMO. Those who are supercompetitive already get rewards in the game, many many types of rewards (boss drops, better gear, hero status, more/better skills, OE, augments, etc)... things that people who are not as dedicated timewise can not get anyway. Does anyone who play for the enjoyment of the game itself get anything ever? No. So why slap them some more?
And I want to mention that while I think of myself as a casual gamer... I'm not by anyone's measure, and I'm going to get a 'gift' anyway, so I'm not sour graping for myself.

I'm going to add an afterthought, since I'm just as annoyed as you were when you posted about your entitlement. If this is going to be that cape, a large percentage of us will end up with SIX capes in our very limited warehouse space almost immediately.
Unless it's got mad stats that beat Zaken/Frint/Freya's, this gift will be no more useful than the chronos weapon from Chronicle 1 to those that will get it. If that's the case, then I'd rather see any player who's been here for years get a special hat, instead of giving me any gift at all. Heck, I'd rather have a special hat too.

this may have been right when koreans had 7th anniversary last year.
But now dynasty sets are s grade and still open cloak slot, there are just no s grade cloaks (yet) :rolleyes:

i lvled from 74-76 at 100 hrs/lvl (yes u heard right 1%/hr) took me 3 hardcore weeks on my main ....
the grind just aint what it used to be lol....
i also remember taking 12 hrs to go from 51-52 lol

If you really want to level that slowly, I'm sure you could find a clan that has a war with everyone on the server. You would level fairly slowly and have a lot more SP to spare !

I totally agree with this, even to the point where the lastest update says "if you die whilst wearing an academy circlet, you lose less XP; if you don't have it, you can go buy it back from xxx"
I levelled past 40 before the academy existed, and therefore can't get the circlet; it's one of those things, get over it, move on, and don't die!

Ok , i admit , the term sandbox is maybe stretching it a bit for this game, but , you do not HAVE to level in this game to have fun , playing with a group of friends , talking , doing a raidboss here and there , is fun. Doesnt matter if you are level 40 or 85. Also , Minecraft i call a second job :) you start playing in the evening , and suddenly it's morning and time to go to your first Job :(.

It's up to you to organize roleplay in any game. L2 has never been designed for roleplay, the only thing that's not combat gameplay oriented is merely "being cute". There are other games with proper game mechanics for players to develop roleplaying. And again it's not related to the RPG letters of the game genre, even if it's supposed to stand for "role playing game". In the video game industry, it's been used for something else.
Roleplayers must use what they get, but L2 isn't oriented toward them at all and shouldn't take them into account for the decisions concerning all the players. Neither should they take into account players who only like lvl 1-20 of L2 then delete their character and start over.
Also, to play with friends and have fun, nowadays you have to be at least 76+, and more generally 80+. That's where you find friends to group with. Before that, it's pretty much only solo. If you play once or twice without your daily group before lvl 75, you quickly go out of level range. So I really don't see what you can organize between friends at those levels besides roleplay (very limited here) or fishing.
I also think lvl 79 and less characters should still get the reward even if it's S80 gear, so they have one more goal to reach. However I don't get the tears about XPing too fast. I assume that killing 100,000 mobs solo in Blazing Swamp is a lot more fun than killing 10,000 of them and then go to another place and party with other players.
The level 80 gift is just for level 80 players, but there will be lots of other gifts for everyone. Stay tuned! :)
I don't see what the big debate over this is since Sace said there will be gifts for everyone. I'm not lvl 80 (those very few of you who might maybe kinda remember my name might know that I quit playing l2 quite frequently) but I don't oppose those who are getting a special gift, they deserve it! It’s an event with a little extra special attachment, big deal?

I think l2 is much more set up for roleplaying than most mmo's out there. It’s got a much more immersive environment and classic feel then just about anything else. Sure you cant sit on a bench, or do some stupid emote or skin your gear to look a certain way, but all the races are classic and so is the world.. It’s special :)

I am not a tribune for free gifts for everyone, nor do I fill the forums with my desire for something I haven’t worked to acquire. With the exception of magic carpets, I have requested numerous times to have these added and I would work towards attaining them.

There was no insult intended, you are taking all this way too personal. It was merely a reference to the “No Child Left Behind Act of 2001†(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Child_Left_Behind_Act) which has caused a belief across so many social pools that everyone should be treated the same. what makes me laugh is that every time a gift event or giveaway items are implemented theres so much fuzz about it, ppl start arguing what is ok to have as a gift and what is not ok, is it fair for everyone or as always some are "in favour", deme**** are being made and grotesque requests, everyones acting like their life depends on whatever they gonna get or not get... I wish Sace would slap every each one of ya :D

Mockery. This event is entered when everyone is away on vacation, so very few people to enjoy it, once again congratulations NCsoft.
You can't be on vacation AND get all the nice stuff ingame. Enjoy your lucky vacation and stop crying. Players who have days off will enjoy the event, players who are working or studying will enjoy the event. Players travelling around the world won't totally enjoy this event. They'll get the lvl 80 gift and they'll have fun IRL, but I assume it's terribly awful, unbearable and unfair.
Send me your money so I can be on vacation all the year. I promise I won't care about L2 events ever.
I have been playing on and off for a year and a half, and have a few lvs over 80 and a third class sub. Exping is easy, even easier in this chronicle. The thing is NCsoft promised help lvling to those who weren't lv 80, and even if you're 79, 2 weeks aren't that big a time to reach the lv required and promised by NC.
If you count my time in Lin1, my closed beta time, open beta, and opening day time, I have been in the Lineage world 10 years.

Even with special bonus, I won't be able to make it to level 80. But it is fine, I just take my time to explore and play the game as i like. No need to hurry up just for one gift - a cloak? o.O

As someone mentioned, we'll be helping, not instantly converting everyone to 80.

I was trying to convey the notion that Akjosh's clan is more active than pixies, since I've actually been in ally with pixie and in clan with Akjosh, this would give me some kind of inside information.
As for being able to claim being "THE" unity clan, that goes to Akjosh in my opinion, as he has the more active clan.
Have you read the hole thread? It's allready been posted that more info will be coming next week. Personally I wish it was starting now since next week is spring break.
