Hello guys! I'm coming from both Wow, Aion and AOC, and decided to actually buy Lineage 2 rather than just going by the impression I got from freeloading on my friends account 2-3 years ago, and I have a couple of questions:
1. Just how popular is this game? How many people are playing, and which server is the one to pick if I want to play on a populated server (ALOT of emphasis on populated).
2. How has the game evolved? Is high five really worth checking out, and when is the expansion pack (whatever it's called) with updated graphics and what not released?
3. Has the grind been toned down, and are there still hordes of bots roaming?

To be honest not what it's used to be back in the days, but still there are a lot of people playing, hopefully new expansion will change that.
Chronos is more popular and has more people, but it's American, so choose according to that.

It is worth checking out, coming from the guy like me who left when only C4 was released, now it's completely different game.
New expansion will be released "When it's done", so no information on that still, we expect Korean release to be somewhere "in first half of 2011".
3. Has the grind been toned down, and are there still hordes of bots roaming?

Grind is tremendously toned down too, I am 2 weeks of casual grind into (about 2-3 hours a day), and already 50+.
I've seen zero bots in these 2 weeks.
1. There's only two servers. One NA and one EU. They're both fairly crowded, not so much in the lower level areas though. You'll wish there was less people in some towns, they can be packed.
2. The game has evolved significantly, depending on how long it's been since you last played. Mainly since Interlude.
3. By the standards of most popular MMOs in NA today, the game could still be considered grindy. It's much better than it was a few years ago though. And there's still bots here and there, but from what I understand, they are caught and banned frequently now. It's nowhere near what it used to be like.
On another note - Has the character creation evolved in any way? Are there more options/features to choose from, or is it still the same?
Same (New expansion promises lots of new choices).
But at least you can make your character unique with hats/agathions, that's something to look forward to, at least for me. :o
the grind will majorly depend on whether you have friends/clan mates that are actually active and social. most people i know of just box a couple buffers and solo, which i cant stand. i play this game for the social aspect.
if you find a good, helpful, active clan that pves a lot and talks a lot, hit me up lol
a clan that will get your groups will decrease the grind to almost nothing.

There are 2 servers atm only. Euro and US. Both have the equal population. On the US server there are still alot of Euro players.

Every new update of Lineage2 has been worth checking out for atleast exisiting players and old inactive players. Being a new player is just bit more to learn on the way up. Every new update offers more contents for high level players and new game mechanics to help the low leveld player level up faster.
3. Has the grind been toned down, and are there still hordes of bots roaming?
Bots are gone as we referred to bots before. The grind is still there but its easier to level up. Some "Epic" quests was implemented, that rewards high level ppl with some good exp rewards. In low levels the game offers faster exp and some exp rewarding quests. Easier class change methods etc. Those quests are not many tho.
NCsoft is still working with Lineage 2 and have a big expansion around the corner called Goddess of Destruction, worth checking out. Lineage 2 is very popular in Russia (where its free to play) and in Asian countries. The Lineage 2 grind and open PvP style doesnt fit all european players.

<-- The faces/hairs are the same as they've always been, so there's not a ton to choose from, but the ones we've always had are among the best of all MMOs imo.
