Cose retail servers were dead, but how could they be alive with Bot trains and game being as it was. I am sure that many people will agree with me that even without new Chronicle this one in which we are made a nice progress and made people think about coming back to play. Ordinary players that can't no life were given a chance such as Zaken Instance, etc...Olympiad changed, many things changed and i myself am one of people that came back to retail along with few more friends, and for sure what we saw on lower lvls you have people starting to play from 0 again organizing raid bosses low lvl from 20-70, you can see in many towns shouts about people lf kama pt (40-70) and is not just people on subclasses but many new people.
When they opened Luna (for example) there was allot of people that thought it will be a server when they finally gonna say "STOP TO BOT PROGRAMS", but no it ended up being 1 big bot world with every catacomb room taken with a dwarf with shop ROOM TAKEN and inside a train, not to talk further you stated your opinion and you gave your vote for No, this topic was made so we see what do the people think about it. But look in past, every new server that opened had high high population, so opening a new one for sure wont be fail, and this new things and status against bots looks promising.
I support too, the new server, but would be better if start two new server 1 NA and 1 EU.
I'm sure in it, that many peoples will interesting about the Goddess of Destruction. Lets imagine we had 11 servers 3 years ago now 2. If just the 5-10% of players who played Lineage 2 under this 7 years return to try the new update these servers will 100% full.
So yes will better if the new players and a part of the returner players will have chance to start the game on new servers.
A part of peoples loves better the older servers, while another parts loves better the new servers.
As matter of fact you are right, 2 servers 1 NA and 1 EU would be needed and i am 100% sure that many people will return to retail. If there should be a new server opening ever again i think this Chronicle gives it full right to do such a thing.

I can agree the your viewpoint too. At first be the currently two server are high populated when they will again constantly high or maybe full populated, that need to create at firstly new servers.
But too early talk about this now the most important the marketing, marketing and marketing. This is the first step to get new and more players as we have now. Before the Goddess of Destruction release with 1 month or 1-2 weeks can see the NCwest how many peoples plans to come or after the release with some weeks can see, that need new server or maybe not and if need how many need etc.
There is no track record of advertising L2 by this group (besides interviews that dont go beyond generic game fansites). Dont base assumptions of new players coming in on something that is extremely unlikely to happen. Without a couple thousand new players starting on our existing servers, there would not be enough people to justify a new server. with no advertising, no new players, you have no chance of new servers no matter how many of you keep suggesting it.

i dont know much about the update, but here is my response based on what i do know:
why not just make it a new game? the update is going to kill this game with the sheer number of exactly the same support toons there will be... and they are going to make SO many people's boxed buffers useless. so they will be loosing money and accounts there. not to mention people's sense of attachment to their characters...
but regardless of whether that is a wrong opinion or not, here is my other opinion:
which server will get the attention? we already dont get many events, or anything that shows appreciation from NCsoft. so when there are two different games in two different servers, which will ncsoft put effort into?

i actually agree with this. and with the sheer number of people that will be forced to reroll with this update, it may be best. then we can fall in love with our new characters. lol

We just only can do one thing, try promote the Lineage 2's new expansion to our friends and relationship.
If everybody can take to the game somebody we will 2 times more if our friends will can call to here at least 1-1 peoples we will 3 times more.
It would be maybe the best if the Lineage 2 has become f2p when the Goddess of Destruction will release.
Next of them the, cheapest promotion is the "scandal". Nowadays video game companies and at firstly American celebrities use this form to promote their new video game or musician album or new movie.
About two years ago the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 got a promotion scandal promotion, that one of game level you can be American terrorist and kill Russian civilians on a Russian airport.
Example the NCsoft made a comic to the Lineage 2 Goddess of Destruction in Korea it is shows blood and sexual contents, need translate it to English and send this comic to western gamer magazines and sites they will like it.

Actually, he can level to 80+ in like 3 times as fast as he would be levelling on a new server.
So we can have another "Luna"? No.It wouldn't be Luna, cose now they are banning people that use L2W with in 3-5h, so you wouldn't see bot trains (something that killed server like Luna).
Also i am aware of fact zranger works and you might say "they can use this to bot", but a side of this being expensive i doubt is even gonna work for long time, Goddess of Destruction is bringing so many changes that any kind of software program will need allot of time to adapt to changes and work as it was working earlier, all in all new server with good advertise and marketing can bring back old players and bring new players into L2.

Why are people who got 85 lvls and have their own "fun time" so afraid of new server? You are not asked in this topic to move to another server, if you think that new server wont be good you are not forced to move but don't expect new players on Chronos or Naia. For drastic changes such as this Chronicle a new server is something that should come up as solution for old and new players. If there should be a new server opening on NA/EU communities this is appropriate time cose things inside of the game are changing the game totally, it is a new game with old concept.
Having so many "WTS Adena" web sites and so many chars for sale this 2 servers are just a place to make $...New servers that wouldn't have bot history of 7 years+, new servers that would have fresh start for all, new servers that wouldn't have transfer character option for 1 year+. This type of server would be real MMORPG utopia.
Now there is also many people that did their lvls legit way up till 85, but don't you think that you are playing an game that is just a mirage where rules written in Users agreement are not being followed and in past 7 years there was so many "eyes closed" on so many things that happened? Once again to repeat, NCSoft blocked bot world by High Five and you can't see bot trains any more and this is good, but you can't fix something like this on 7 years old server and this is what prevents people coming to retail, moment you log in on Chronos and Naia and you get the fact you are 7 years behind some ppl you start thinking "why should i start this game?"
I myself would have around 40+ friends that mentioned couple of times in case of new server on retail and this new chronicle they would join it for sure, and i am sure that there is plenty of people that would add comments in here but they can't without active retail account log in on this forum and add any comments. So looking on this i think i will come up soon with totally neutral forum location where we can call friends that are not playing retail right now and they would like to state their opinion, and with advertise and informing people about it we can help LineAge2 Community no matter what NCSoft decides.

None of this things are final, but the way you making it sound is like that Chronos and Naia should be closed when new patch comes. Dunno not much sense in your post, specially that you judging something you haven't checked.

I wonder why you think there would be no bots on this new server, it is naive to think this! When you are just bringing them a new market to sell chars on. A market where they can make more money, then the dried up market which exists now. Since there is always a little rich kid who wants to pay to be better then everyone else. Even with NC finally attempting to ban the few bots remaining, I doubt NC will have the manpower to be able to ban every bot on a server where it will become flooded with them.
Besides that, I believe you would make the existing servers less attractive forcing them to become less populated. While the new server will also never achieve the population it is capable of sustaining. The result will be another server merge because it remains non profitable for NC an again the issues about clan halls will emerge.
I don't believe in this fantasy server you describe, so i voted no.

There is not going to be another server here, unless the business model changes drastically (and even then I'm not sure it would be worth opening a new server). This game is old now and there are a lot of other choices for people entering the MMO market. Yes we will continue to get some new players, perhaps even quite a few if GOD is successful, but not the influx that would make a new server worth it.
Well, now would help much the clear words too. If Sace or Moxie or maybe Lance Stites could tell us, what is the situation now and what we or they can do around the the release of Goddess of Destruction.
NCwest have to solve their service and marketing problems too before the GoD release to its time will be everything fine, it will can help much. But some thing is almost sure.
They peoples who have now 1 or more buffer accounts they will make to inactive their buffer accounts or at least many of them. Cuz will enough 1 buffer after 85.
If I can have a question to L2 dev team while the NCsoft highest leadership with the owners next to deve team. "How try to solve the decreasing monthly payments in the GOD, because many peoples won't pay their buffer accounts".

Yes, this way is way of the success in Europe and America and on the Middle-East too.
But, the P2P is a safe business for the NCwest, while the F2P may not the safest way (at firstly if the f2p service is unbalanced).
I'm sure in it, that the NCwest or NCsoft thinking about, that make the L2 to F2P at here, they can experience the success of Lineage 2 in Russia (many and full servers as I know 6-7k the server limit so 13 or more server with this numbers and only in 1 country is amazing good number! because many another games has 2k-5k limits).

Why are people who got 85 lvls and have their own "fun time" so afraid of new server? You are not asked in this topic to move to another server, if you think that new server wont be good you are not forced to move but don't expect new players on Chronos or Naia.
I will skip the bot discussion to right to the point : Chronos and Naia players are afraid of a new server because it would split their population like it always did in the past. There could be of course some new players on that server, but the majority would be veteran wanting to make it big on the new server, dominate it to make an IRL business, some hoping that a new server would make them suck less (they believe they'll become pro pvpers), etc.
That's frightening because our populations are currently low and we fear to make it worse.
The problem, more than the age of the server, is the age of the game itself. Don't expect to have more occasion to party with the revamp of the low level zones. They won't be redesigned to make a happy random party ground like it could be in C1. They'll be designed to fit old servers : a better and faster solo content to catch with the other players. So a new player will be able to join any server without fearing to be left alone with no chance to be "in the game".
So the problem is the age of the game. Any MMO player will think twice before joining an old game with a whole history of content and communities.
No to new servers, population usually pretty low as it is, give it time and see what happens. If the game is advertised and more people began to show up, you will see it. Then it might be time to think about other servers. I would still likely say no though =P
i dont know where the people that chose yes or maybe are playing but there's no PvP in any server
and by no pvp i dont mean your 1vs1 once a day

It has simple reason, about the 30-40% of the top clans had already finish to leveling they are 85+. Another part of top and middle clans are 80+ so if they xping only 3-4 hours until the GoD they will finish with the leveling too.
Fewer reason now for PVPs, because now not really have the clans spot PVP mostly the middle clan has only.
This problem will solve in the Goddess of Destruction peoples want leveling get the new 14 levels. The rival clans will meet on the different spots and start pvp for control the best xp zones.
than will be again 72vs72 PVPs or bigger PVPs too.

The server population is fine on Naia and on Chronos too. Mostly you see "light" and "normal" server traffics this is true.
But the gameplay changed. Most of the peoples play while they have Nevit Hourglass and Vitality when they used up it much of them exit from the game and will come tomorrow. Old times wasn't these XP helper functions, so the players spent in the game 5-6 hours too.
In the last weekend Chronos had "Heavy" traffic. It is shows if we have events sieges etc make the peoples the game more important so they will spend more hours in the game not only 1-2.
I think this will change too in the Goddess of Destruction peoples will spend many hours in the game to get/try/use the new functions, items, levels etc.
With the time we will close to release the Goddess of Destruction or it is already released than we and NCsoft will can see, that need new server or not and if need new server how many new servers need.

NO vote from me as well. The current servers are not full, so what's the use of a new server?
With that, as stated here as well, as long as Lineage II doesn't get the attention (marketing wise) it deserves, then the population won't grow that much. When NCWest finally starts promoting L2 and show it's great features over the other (newly released) faction based PvP MMO's and get large quantities of new players in, then new servers are in place.
@NCWest staff - do you guys realize what a jewel L2 is? Okay, it's an Asian grind (which lots of Western players hate), but over the past few years and with the coming of GoD, the grins became less than before. Perhaps with the release of GoD it's time to do some (LOTS) marketing and get ppl to play L2...
They said they were going to open a few once GOD comes out. Before you make a poll or post, try the search engine.
NCsoft knows that people don't want to start on the current server, which is why it's a no-brainer that they will add another. Not to mention they don't want to make their game F2P and then have their server overwhelmed by the influx of people causing stability issues.
From here on out there will always be a high server population due to the fast leveling and F2P.
All of you people who are crying that they shouldn't make new servers are just mad that most people don't want to start on their old *** servers.
New servers with all this new content is going to be awesome. Starting fresh is the best. I, as well as a bunch of my friends are waiting for GOD and wouldn't even start again if there wasn't going to be any new servers.

The thinking of accepting whatever the company throws at you once it changes its business model to F2P, is very damaging.
Even if you don't have to pay a dime to start on the game, you ARE first and foremost a potential customer to them. Never settle for anything less than that.
You can make noise, throw tantrum and be demanding as long as your request is legitimate and reasonable.
Again, F2P is a BUSINESS model and not a charity model, it works for many game companies and it makes good money for them.
Remember, you are still a CUSTOMER and do not give them leeway when it comes to servicing customers. :D
Let them make a new server, so all the bots and the noobs go there, and REAL not noob players are free to play in "old" servers, where economy is already set and starting is a lot faster :)

even when chronos goes god i will just create a lowbie for see how you lvl up and the introduction stuff heheehehe or will use the new server for that purpose
Basically for me and 4 other buddies its start a new server or we move on.. Were not gnna start our old c1 lvl 40 characters up again in a server where most everyone is 85 ect... New would be awesome.. change is good

I want to play in a new server, thats for sure, im new here, i dont wanna face 7 years bots and adena farming and ebay etc etc even legit players with 7 years ahead, but, if a new servers start it will be the same i think.. TOO MUTCH bots, too mutch adena sellers etc etc etc, Luna and others servers are the example right?, i voted yes, but is more than that, we need a hard control on bots and adena sellers and no transfers, and that..is just imposible, im waiting for a official post or something, like all u guys do,

It's no secret that NC was never strong on banning bots because they lose money from monthly account frees.
But did it ever occur to anyone that every account is going to be free and it doesn't matter how many people they ban now?
It would make sense that botting will have high risks and people will be getting banned left and right.
So all of you crying about bots - it's not like they are new or ever going to go away... Stop crying about them, you should be used to them already lol...
On another note... I Don't know why people are still voting lol.. it's set in stone that there will be new servers. Once again..
