What is up with all of the cloaks? TBH I would prefer 2 weeks of letters dropping than having to resub in NC determined ways to get more cloaks. I have no clue what or how this 7th anniversary says thank you to the people who stayed here and supported the game through all the highs and lows....cloaks, cloaks, there are so many **** cloaks now...am I the only one who does not really care about having 7 different cloaks?
I love this game; I have been here a looonnngg time. But to advertise the Level 80 gift for all and find out it is another cloak seems a little silly.
Why the hell do people that have been here for 5+ years need a hero's Chest with armor sets from D - S that will disappear as well? I don't know, maybe I am jaded but reading on forums that people feel spoiled by this event I just dont get it...
you have to understand, they maintain from the outset of the game that they will not disrupt game economy by interfering; they have given equal opportunity events for players over the years to give out top gear wherein only very few were successful to earn the rewards. they are doing it again except with an added m.night shyamalan twist.
this time they are giving away items that will help ANY player who might have left the game 5 years ago and isnt geared to simply high level players; they want to at least give the returning players a taste of the game again in hopes of rekindling a romance with the game.
how would you feel if you were a player that farmed a full set of Elegia Armor, which took MONTHS of freya raiding, only to turn around and see NC give away Vorpal to everyone no questions asked?
terrible, thats how you'd feel. you'd probably just give up at that point too. every QQer and pvp program user would start creeping on your haunts. if you win the pvp you are labelled one way, and if you lose you are labelled another way.
so NC gives less than top tier gear, and gives it an expiry date. this satisfies both qualifications - that returning players are quickly geared, and that the top dogs remain top dogs for good reason.
it changes nothing in game economics by being untradeable, and everyone who is still climbing the ladder of levels gets to do so a bit faster.
they are never just going to give away for free top gear with no effort involved. that would not help anyone.
its not as though they are giving out antharas or valakas jewelry either. baium and aq. probably at the same rate of drop as from the raid itself.
I would dispute the economics comment. who would buy any dynasty gear or lower for the next three months (or longer). granted the market is pretty slow to start with, but now it will be frozen for several months.
you underestimate the number of undergeared players and weekend warriors in Lineage2.
i myself left the game as a 76 GK in Dark Crystal +0, and +0 dragon grinders. this used to be worth 300 million adena, now i am lucky to sell it as a package for 30 million.
if NC had given me these gears i would not be ahead anything today. it would still be worth nothing compared to the newer gear, and what's more i'd be wanting the next handout to come quickly.
i need everythin. as do so many who quit after C4. some are coming back and you can see they are lv 36 in D gear. these are not high levels even for the time of Beta or C1 when they quit.
low level players are who are returning, not lv 83 players who left 2 weeks ago. those guys will take 5-6 months to come back, and by then everyone will be 92+ so they will be in the same boat as we are in now.
i keep reading the announcement and details but obtaining some of this stuff isn't exactly very well detailed in the manner you receive it... other then giving dates there seems to be confusion..

i read somewhere that you have to make a new sub to receive one of the cloaks.. or some of the stuff... which if true means i would have to DELETE one of my current subs ... this is unacceptable if true...

However, why not offer a few choices to some real vets? Aion rewards given monthly to veteran players can,and do, affect gameplay, often these are crown gifts that can be exchanged for real gear (not shadow) weapons and armor. The gifts act as incentives to keep players around.. Does a cloak keep you playing when you already have 6? Why not give out a free SA. Stone, maybe a few noble enhancement stones. Just the way I see it.

The 3 capes are identical in stats, only 1 is obtained via a payment option, the other 2 are given as gifts for free.
Wtf is the issue ppl are having with this? Everyone gets a cape, if u want a black one u need to update a dumb payment option to get it. I am all for yelling at ncsoft whenthey are in the wrong, but I personally don't see an issue with this since other, equal stat identical items are being given out.
Maybe some of u veterans need more vitality pops, more shadow gear, or cloaks...good for you. You can have my pretty Pegasus thingy, please enjoy. we get regular double xp weekends, we had events that gave dumb amounts of maintain pots.
we are getting an event that will allow you to sell items to make adena, you are getting very decent shadow gear that lasts 3 months (which will greatly helped under geared, newer players).
You want free gear for new subs, but all sub gear is available through the npc store for like 20kk max. plus, this event gives these boxes that give gear based on current class, so there is 3 months of free gear for a sub.
i see this event as a big step towards trying to make players happier with their L2 experience. End game players get the advantage of double SP and cool ahts/capes, newer players get very good free shadw gear and an event to possibly get lucky on and score an epic or just sell the items in general. newer players also get the 2x xp/sp and all the gift box prizes.
everything you are complaining about is featured in this event. double xp/sp, free gear for subs, free vit, free maintain pots, etc.

If you sub 3+1 to get a Hero’s Treasure Chest and then transfer it to a character on that account (via the Dimensional Merchant) that is only D grade level and open the HTC, then you get what you deserve. That would not be a wise use of your HTC and a direct indication of your lack of mental prowess.
Sadly, you still don’t seem to have a grasp on how all this works (I am referring to the event not spelling). You will not be able to mail me your shadow gear.
this event is very cheerfull with lots of colorfull presents that are only for fun and will keep slots in our wh,but the gift for the veterans is what?
those colourful caps were uber 1-2 years ago,now we get cloak from every raid we go.
very nice to see new agation and mount a horse,but after 1 day noone will open them again,like they did with love's agathion,because everyone will have them.
what is left are the letters event and the possibility(?)of an epic or some cry.I would prefer more days with letters event then,or a true 80+ gift like a special assecory that can be traded/sold so we can sell it in the future and make some money like older players were doing with their events rewards.What is missing from 80+ people-and from 85 even more-is adena,they could at least include hero chests s84 with items like attribute stones/crys/sa/,these can be used from anyone and can be sold to anyone.

You like bells and whistles and pretty lights, I get that...I prefer to see what is under the hood. We did not intend to get players worked up over the level 80 gift of the red cloak. That is partly why we only posted about it on the forums, instead of broadcasting it. No one was required to pursue the gift, nor are they now. The decision to pursue it is entirely up to each individual player. Everyone will have a different opinion about this topic. Thread is closed due to escalating fighting.
