NCSoft West should do more market research, maybe borderline relevant (just cos L2 also has half nekid girls doesn't make it relevant to drinking and clubbing :P) promo events like these will draw in more players.
And to the old school players who can't let go of the past:
I look forward to GoD, not because of how amazing it would be, but for the changes. For every chronicle release, I look forward to new things that come with it, even tho much of it is nothing that I wanted :P I don't really lose anything because frankly, this is a game and I played it knowing full well that it will end someday, if it doesn't suit my tastes, I move on... quite simple :O
There is no right or wrong direction for a game, it either suits your taste or it doesn't. The new significant changes that may be coming in GoD is not *just* for you, it's also to attract the younger generations, which i think can be a good thing... if only they weren't so spoilt and cocky :P (we were once thought of the same way by previous generations, so it's fair trade that we get a taste of our own medicine ^^)
They are so sure on what they will do with lineage 2 we should give them a chance and see if they realy made the best

this is the problem with the game.
new changes.
if they finished the game, polished it to make it the best it can be then i would agree that new high level content is awesome.
however it is not. why? well take a look at the game from an open-level standpoint.
1-20 you are swept through like dirt into a dustpan. you dont learn anything, you just click the quests.
20-40 you are suddenly stuck killing mobs, none of which are consistent. there are no quests except to change class and given the quests 1-20 one would expect to do the class change in as quick as 3 ports. this is NOT the case.
by the time you take a look at the new gear to get you are left wondering how to afford the stuff in the shop. by the time you get to B grade you wonder if it might be easier to craft some of the gear - instead you find B crafts are still the hardest thing in the game to get as the recs are drop-only, and in some cases spoil only. bypassing B you get into A and see its half available again from NPC. you wonder where all the quests are and if all the players in the game just mindlessly kill mobs.
if you make it through A to S you find out theres yet another quest chain with an adena reward - for once. looking at the quest tho you start spending more money on ports than you get paid from the quest, and youre only half done.
you start looking for common S gear when you see it doesnt exist! wondering how to gear yourself you look at quests and happen to see a quest chain to get S recipes.
wow now the crafting begins and so the next dwarf you find you try to get them to make an S craft - only to find out it will cost a heck of a lot more to craft, and theres the potential fail factor.
so you deal with it and farm your *** off. click the craft and fail.
the desperation sets in but despair does not. you happen on some friends who give you their old stuff.
now you zoom to 80 and find a very rewarding quest at 79 and you get stuck on part 4. nobody wants to help you.
assuming you plod through to 85 you find a hellbound area that is empty and devoid of all life. you find people in gracia but they all just wait for someone else to do the tiat kills and open the area for farming.
meanwhile theres 4 raid bosses that nobody wants to let you try and that are rumored to be undefeatable.
broken game.
new areas? how about finish off the existing areas. make B gear full drops to actually exist with some frequency, as well as full superior A. while youre at it fix the discrepancies between low and high S gear - one is drastically easier to make/acquire than the other. fix the dyn drops in lv 85 zones, fix the spoil tables to acurately reward players wanting to do play BH to some level other than 55 (where all the best spoil rates are)
make it better for castle owners - let them set a manor that gives both sides some better rewards. castles hate being stuck with multiple thousands of useless enchant scrolls.
cause NONE of this is fixed in Goddess of Destruction update. its still going to be epically difficult to bridge the gap between A and S especially with the high volume of S84 on the market once a lot of R gear is acquired.
players NG to S literally dont have ANYTHING they can farm besides AA and materials that is worth a plug nickel.
