Hello Everyone,
First let me say I've been playing L2 since closed beta and never posted here be4 I love L2 I love the music and the graphics/machanics of the game. Now I have to ask why a PVP game would try to compete with a carebear farmers game like WOW? your in a niche market true pvp games are not a big market has what maybe 500k peeps spread out amongst a half dozen horrible attempts at a pvp game none are making it big,Yet you alienate half that player base by a horrible exploitable flag system. A system that not only punishes pvp'ers and drives away pvp guild's, but hurts guild recruitment. Why join a guild when you can sail through much of the game without one.My suggestion remove that flag system let players police themselves(WHY THAT WOULD BE ANARCHY!!) no it's proven to be the best policy in many games it also promotes guild recruitment by making people band together out of servival and guild members will contribute to there guild's out of fear of being kicked out.( no fun being alone and hunted)Next the lvl grind I heard 5months to max after next expansion that's excellant you are raising drop rates even better. Advertise your game as a PVP game welcome PVP guild's in pull that small pvp player base to your game and stop pushing them away with the lvl grind/flag system. this is not a gripe this is comming from my friends in the Shadowbane community these are the things that drove them away they don't like being punished for pk's or years of carebearing it up to pvp I've heard these same comments from Darkfall community to.(skill grinding there was it's downfall I think)you already stuck your foot through the door you mine as well kick it open all the way.The carebears from WOW will never give up their leat loots and come here so go for the PVPER'S you get them all you got plenty of subs to keep this beautiful game alive. PS, srry for the wall of text, to those who don't like what I've said I'm srry but I have a right to my own opinion as well and if it's good for the game why not

What's wrong with the flag system?
Gives everyone what they want. Banding together to kill a red to get his drops is a very communal activity for smaller clans, and when they drop their boss jewels, it's often the little clan's only chance to get one.
This is open pvp. No flag, no loot. People often pvp for loot... or don't you get that?
I doubt you have played this game as long as you claim without figuring out why some people pvp and some dont. If you read these forums, you can easily figure out that the game is heavily populated by carebears. you can't force people to fight if they dont want to.
you also make a ridiculous claim that pvp'ers dont get rewarded. do you think top clans dominate the servers because they dont pvp? they get the best hunting spots, dominate epic bosses and control the important castles/territory wards because they pvp and are rewarded for it.

LOL, well that's one of the things wrong with it at least the red had the guts to stand up for himself or simply to not be scared of the system were as you the mob chasing him are basicly cowards.
not to mention how easily it's xploited for instance when you got a group hiding while one of you with no cp/hp run up to some poor fool and pick a fight with him. I'm sure that is the perfect example of a flag system. these examples are nothing new you all have done it or seen it. and lol this is open pvp you say lmao not so open it has a flag system that's not open pvp.

no their not top pvper's their top adena buyers every member of every top guild has benifited either directly or through a guildy/IC adena or gear bought outside of game they are not pvpers their paying for a( I WIN BUTTON)simply because they can't except loss or learn from it. so maybe your right. A carebear would do something like this carry on soon it will be 1 server with an item mall, then what you spent thousands for some will get for 25$ on item mall. The changes I suggested would draw in pvp guild's witch would keep your game alive. Maybe you fear that or maybe you just fear change I saw the same in the last days of P2P in SB slightly different scenario but same unmovable views by players who could only see things in one view their own.
Regardless in the end our game is dieing we are either not Carebear enough to draw the carebears from wow/rift. or were not pvp friendly enough to draw the pvp guild's out there.
I really hope after expansion things go one way or the other. I believe free to play with item mall will hurt it in the long run, it would get over run potentially driving out the original community in exchange for players who arn't around for more then a month. hope I'm wrong
3. Top PvP (Talking about the Top Clans/allys in TW/Castle Sieges and other mass pvps) is filled with programms.
I'm 100% sure IF anyone is looking for PvP he can get it easily and immediatly. (Extrem case would be if 1 side is totally hidden in town without ANYONE exping/farming outside)
L2 is not ONLY a pvp game. There are a lot of farming and raid possibilities. During clan wars u'll prolly have to fight sometimes but still.
So yea ppl are not "not" pvping cuz they are carebears and care about EXP (infact any1 who can pvp effectively is already at 85 and can farm the exp loss at any time back), they dont pvp cuz they simply dont stand any chance vs "Anakim Power Rangers". (with no chance I mean u get hit 1-2 times and die)
-Pvp costs, very few classes kill others with 1-2 hits, since so many potions for pvp in game,if your enemy is fulled of them you should also be full of them...or die...or bsoe.
-Solo pvp almost not exist because in low lvls players try to lvl the faster they can and make some money to catch up the community and fit in GOD update and because in high lvls the best spots for xp are for full partys,so you need have a full party to go hunt enemy partys.
I liked very much this compination L2 offered in past chronicles, room for pvpers and room for strictly pve players,(the pve players were often called bots by pvpers since all they were doing was kill mobs/grind for matches and sell in market),but in reality their role was to be the base of game ecomony by grinding and then selling loots, also help lvling new players, ofc,in a game full of bots, bots did all that much better,if game doesnt have bots it needs ammount of pve players with a lot of hours to spend daily.
That's why i wouldnt kick pve players ever from L2,but i would like to have more rewarding solo areas to keep solo pvp in game and raids like antharas/valakas for mass pvp.

Do you think that by removing a flag system that the pvers can't farm? that's were the clan comes in, pvpers patrol while farmers farm. Comes down to good clan leadership/organization you send 3 people to a zone to farm in a open pvp game ya there gonna get hit that should be the IC's fault not the pvpers, who took out there enemy's farmers. Goes back to clan leadership an open pvp environment works it can't be exploited every1 knows were they stand. and It also sets apart a good clan from a bad one.

No clan leader can be online 24/7 everyday(most of them arent even 2h everyday)and discuss with every person that joined his clan who's fault is and who hitted first ect ect.Basicaly that was the most common thing that was happening to clans when people were searching enemys on solo areas.Pvp clans just let their members pvp/pk all who were not friends.

The clan leader isn't the only person in charge IC's can share this responsibilty can set up a schedule and also not everyone is from the same time zone meaning ic's spanning different time zones can be organizing the clan at different times. don't forget you also have nation be as simple as jumping to allie's vent channel and doing a lil prep. this pretty basic stuff. no one person can be on all the time that's why I said guild leadership IC=Inner Council those who represent guild's player base and up hold's clan policy. We do have clans in L2 were ya been bud?
3. Any declarations of war that have not been returned by the rival clan are automatically dropped after 24 hours.
4. One-sided (non-declared) wars result in 0 XP loss and 0 clan points loss.
5. Raise point loss for death during war to 100 clan points and 2% XP loss. Once a clan reaches zero clan points. They lose the war and all wars are cancelled. Surrendering during a war results in losing all clan points.
6. Clans that only have 1000 or more clan points can declare/accept war. Remove the level limit.
7. Losing a war results in a 24 hour de-buff that decreases luck in crafting, enchanting, and elementing items. Winning results in a buff that increases luck for 24 hours. Surrendering only loses clan points and there is no decrease.
8. Implement a new timer system to the pvp model that lasts for 2 minutes and functions like this. If someone attacks you and you don't flag you don't lose XP for 2 minutes after their last attack.
9. Remove the instant red after one chaotic kill and replace it with a pk meter that gradually turns red.
@BigK: Your suggestion means we need 2-3 clan members guarding the single PVE player, not sure this is a workable solution. Another issue would be the majority of the player base is carebear and would leave the game in hordes (pun intended) if they were PKed every time they left town.

It is a workable plan guild's have been doing it for 2 decades now. rest comes from learning from losses and growing from them. rather then covering up tears and running out the door quiting. but i'll quite now, I thought the L2 community would represent better then a wow community no insult intended. by the way whats the estimated pop. now? was just curious bout 3500 per server?
by the way NCsoft Ubisoft is selling Shadowbane rights for 800k be a good buy, just thought I'd pass the info along while I was here.

it is almost like you have been reading the GoD PTS release notes... :)

id love to pvp but my gear isnt anywhere near those people from top clans and others simply dont flag back or whatever
its either i get 1 / 2 shotted or they dont flag back
as for wars most my wars out gear me badly so thats the 1 / 2 shot pvp
top of that last siege i went i targeted bishop from the enemys and got insta nuked so i was like ok w/e so i went back again got nuked again
happend few times then i was like let see so
i started lookin at damage log
its exactly the same 4 nukers who kept ****** me soon as i targeted their healer
i dont really care if some1 bots to lvl up, but seriously using any kind of program to do most fun part of the game for you? why do u even play it
its like aimbotting in a fps game whats so fun about runnin around in a map? while ur mouse is completely useless cus bot is doing the aim/shooting for u
meight sound dumb but one day people will realize im right
i rather lose a good pvp fight then lettin a bot pvp for me so i win 100%
I disagree, if you didn't get XP loss if you die, you WILL get someone griefing you "for THEIR fun" this means a player who isn't interested in PvP would have to return to town, rebuff, (incidentally without noble buff they could lose birthday buff/nevit pot/milks).
2. Give 1% XP loss during flagged pvp.
what's wrong with the current system - at all levels the XP is easy to get back if you die.
3. Any declarations of war that have not been returned by the rival clan are automatically dropped after 24 hours.
4. One-sided (non-declared) wars result in 0 XP loss and 0 clan points loss.
3+4, hmm, we have 1way wars with some of the top pvp clans, but didnt declare back - our members aren't always ready for pvp - some are newbies in their 40's - so should they automatically lose to a 70+/80+ player just because we declared back? - if the war is 1-way, WE have the choice to fight or ignore the person who is flagging on us. I usually fight back, it's in my nature, but other maybe not.
5. Raise point loss for death during war to 100 clan points and 2% XP loss. Once a clan reaches zero clan points. They lose the war and all wars are cancelled. Surrendering during a war results in losing all clan points.
nah, rep is quite hard for a low activity clan as it is. 1 point loss is a gesture more than a motive, if it was 100 pts more grief would happen.
6. Clans that only have 1000 or more clan points can declare/accept war. Remove the level limit.
i dont personally see the point.
7. Losing a war results in a 24 hour de-buff that decreases luck in crafting, enchanting, and elementing items. Winning results in a buff that increases luck for 24 hours. Surrendering only loses clan points and there is no decrease.
hmm. a personal player war or a clan war? this could be interesting but would need some working out of the logistics.
8. Implement a new timer system to the pvp model that lasts for 2 minutes and functions like this. If someone attacks you and you don't flag you don't lose XP for 2 minutes after their last attack.
again - what if they warred clan isn't into pvp?
9. Remove the instant red after one chaotic kill and replace it with a pk meter that gradually turns red.
I like the fact that if someone is a pillock they go red, remember of course that they dont lose anything unless they are red and 5+ pks
