I've noticed you indeed can set up shop in FI, so why do people spread themselves among Giran/Dion/Aden etc, with there shops when its more ideal to put a shop up in FI where anyone, from anywhere can port there for free to do there shopping, and then return to where they need to be...
Yup, Giran is just much more convenient for craft shops. As long as you cannot buy ore etc. on FI and as long as there is no blacksmith there to craft the molds etc. which you cannot craft in player craft shops, people will prefer to have their craft shops in Giran. And that of course also means that the mats sellers will be in Giran. And that in turn means that every other sell/buy shop will be there, too, because people do not want to run around between two different buy/sell locations just to check all the shops.
well even if people think that is better to be in giran, the truth is that FI would be a beter location and is also a free port from anywhere in the map thus making it more accesible in general. Still i very much doubt that people will move their shops to FI.
Yes, the free port is nice. But you then still would have to port to some other town (Giran, most likely, due to tax) to buy soul ore, visit the blacksmith etc., which makes things annoying (and also not "free port" anymore). Or you'd need to put craft shops in Giran and other sell/buy shops at FI, but then you'd have the market split up in two places and you would have to port first here, then there to buy mats/craft (and you would probably still visit both places to make sure you do not miss any nice offer).

Aden,Rune,Godard etc. sell basically shots for more convenient return to xp location. also random items are sold there if someone happens to be in that town and doesnt care to port, or if they are marketing to certain ppl (selling bsoe near the pvp clans halls)
Giran is the main economic center. all the various npc shops one needs to use are located there. its has a large area for shops to be posted as well as multiple wh keepers on different ends of the town. its also between the lower lvl towns and the higher lvl towns so everyone can port there pretty cheap and easy. 40- port free anyway.
Dion is low lvl stuff and there really isnt reason to port there and shop since most stuff sold there should be purchasable from npc in Giran.
FI is spread out to much and doesnt have enough wh keepers or any of the npc shops ppl need to use.
free port from any town fine... but newbies port free and higher lvls should be able to afford ports or they are doing something wrong.
if you want direct port to Giran for free jus get some dimension diamonds.
Honestly I think people just like to bunch together.
Giran has what 4 or 5 WH keepers and tons of open area to put up a shop but we all like to huddle in one big people mass. We don't want Customer X seeing what Seller Y has before he sees you have it cheaper. Hense we practically sit on each other's laps.
Take your time....enjoy your shopping experiance....spead out and lets all breathe some fresh air.
it all started in giran because of lineage 1. Giran was the selling place in lineage 1 just a general location that had a big central area. So when lineage 2 started all the lineage 1 players that started playing followed what they knew....to sell in Giran.
Very good idea. but we need to have there a Blacksmith and a shop too. Craft shops are very important. We already have an WH :)
The problem is: with GOD arriving is this idea possible?
FI is the place cc/clan partys always go to throw their loots in the ground and randomly pikup(they dont do it on ch since there's always danger for someone to has logout a dorf inside and log him to steal loots,like it was going on in my old clan's clanhall on Frantz).If market moves there,those partys would need find other non-war free zone.
For the market purpose,you need to check prices on npc stores/buy/craft materials,FI without npc stores isnt the right place.
I would recomend this place to stay as event 's place.Also devs can get creative from the numerous beautiful corners they designed and make a use for them.Like put quests on areas like the painting school which require you to travel to towns and find some missing parts from a painting/kill mobs in your way and get adena -various rewards for delivering them!
I dont like at all the existant q on FI,its like they'r designed for bots.
